LOVE, LOVE, LOVE clotted cream!!!! Only had it twice but I'd eat a jar of it if you put it in front of me! The last time was at "high tea" while on a cruise so it was the REAL thing. Had it on proper scones both times and enjoyed it SO much (can you tell?)!!

    Hi Girls!

Barbe, I'm with you about loving the clotted/scalded cream, there is no taste like it!

Lisa, wow!  That sure is a great shot! How close were you sitting?

Nancy, good luck with your two appointments!  Sure hope you hand doc can give you some good news as to what can be done.

I had a wonderful weekend with my SIL, we went out to dinner on Saturday night and was entertained by a twenty piece swing band.......talk about fabulous toe tapping music!  At one point I couldn't help myself and dragged my SIL onto the dance floor.......it was fun but I paid for it on Sunday......lol.......but every ache and pain reminded me of the fun I had.   Back to normal now so no permanent damage done........lol.

The appointment with my ortho is tomorrow so as of then the ball will officially be rolling.....yay!

    Have a great day all!

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy

I was way up in the nosebleed seats, but I have a 50X zoom camera...lots of neat things going on in the desert, but I am a water person and can't wait to get back to the shore...

Lol, love that expression.......nose bleed seats.........

What sort of camera Lisa?  I do remember you saying something about getting a new one but I can't for the life of me remember what one you got........must be old age creeping up on me........lol.

Wow, Lisa, you caught the tennis player mid-serve!  Great picture.

Chrissy, so glad you had a great weekend.  It's so good sometimes to just get away and have fun, especially with people you love.  And you even got to dance!

I'm tired after cooking today for DD's birthday.  The whole family came, all 3 grands, and the 14 month old DGS finally took his first 4 steps.  Now there'll be no stopping him, I suppose.  We had a down-home meal, with fried chicken, green beans and new potatoes cooked together, creamed corn, and rolls, and iced tea.  I was going to make home-made biscuits but after a marathon chicken-frying session, I grabbed those Sister Schubert rolls out of the freezer and baked them.  Then birthday cake for dessert.  Diet resumes tomorrow!

Good luck with your appointments tomorrow and Tuesday, Nancy!

This roller coaster weather won't leave us.  After a high of 73F yesterday, Monday we'll be lucky to get out of the 30's.  For any of you who are in the path of this new storm, stay safe.  We may have freezing rain here, but no snow.

Well I have an appointment with a new Dr. Wednesday. My last scans showed an unidentified mass in my  colon that needs to be checked out. Wish me luck please.

  • chrissyb
    chrissyb Member Posts: 11,438

Kathy your DDs birthday dinner sounds yumm!  Don't you just love seeing those first wobbly steps from the babies and the expression on their little faces is priceless as they realize they are actually doing it!  Yes, as all parent do, can't wait for the babies to move and when they do wish that they were back in the pram and controllable...........lol.

I hear you on the diet thing......sigh.  I will need to go back onto mine in order to lose a few kilos before my know surgery again.  I must admit though that I am pleased to say that I have managed to keep off most of what I lost last time so the bench mark is not as high......yay!!!

Chabba hope that appointment with the new doc goes well and what ever is showing up in the colon is something benign!  Good thoughts and strength to cope with what ever it is, is coming your way in buckets full!

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy

chabba, sweetie! Here comes the "emotional rollercoaster" again....sigh. Such a ride we take and such a price we pay to keep our facade of calm to the rest of our families. I pray, with others, for a benign report. Please keep us updated. We "get it".

Kathy, your birthday dinner sounds better than ours! They were supposed to come on Saturday (my grandson turned 3 yesterday) but got scared by some blowing snow and came yesterday instead. We had pasta at my son's request with hot Italian sausage and chicken breast in coconut oil (for me!). I had taken my last day off work on Saturday as I knew I couldn't physically have them over AND work. I had given my son two options for the birthday dinner and he chose the Saturday (which was NOT an option!!) and then didn't even come over!!! I mourn the loss of the days pay, but can't lay that on him......sigh.

I begin a new job today, back into commission sales which I normally am very good at. That last position ended up being part-time only and I worked 14 days straight without a day off but sometimes for only 4 hours a day!! I opened the tax office at 8 am and that is too bloody early for me! I don't even get polite until about noon! I would go home and have a nap - what a waste of a day! I like retail sales as stores don't open until around 10 am. I should make triple per hour what I was making part-time so that should help....

Lisa, love that photo -- picture perfect!

Chabba, my best to you.  I know the waiting sucks, nothing worse.  We are all "waiting" experts in here.  We do understand and I am keeping you in my prayers.

barbe, best to you on the new job!

Chrissy, I am losing weight with you!  I have a lot to lose, but one pound at a time.  Glad you are getting the next step underway, good luck with that.

Started my rads today.  4 more weeks to go.  Have a good one tomorrow, everyone.

Chabba, good thoughts and prayers that all will be benign.  The waiting has to be the worst part of anything--once we have a plan of action it seems to get better, but the waiting is awful.  Please keep us posted.

Barbe, I wish you much luck on your new job!! Congrats and encouragement!  You sound happy about it, and that's great!

Big D, hope rads won't be too hard on you.  Honestly, the hardest thing (well, actually the most irritating thing) for me was having to be there every day.  The radiation thread on here was a big help too.  Just moisturize and moisturize!

Such a dreary day here, made even drearier by the fact that DIL and DGS#1 have stomach flu.  DIL called early this morning and asked us to keep DGS #2, who isn't sick, or isn't yet I should say.  DH just left to take him home.  And everybody was here last night for DD's birthday, so we've all been exposed to whatever it is.  I'm just happy we're retired and available to help out.

    Everybody have a good week!

Chabba, more hopes here for benign.

Barbe, hope the new job works out in your favor.

I was down 1.8 lbs at WW weigh-in this morning!

Thank you, Kathy.  I am glad to hear you were good through your treatment.  Gives me hope.  Yes, been reading everything here on radiation!

oh, chabba, that sux, that ya gotta wait for another dr appt and then exam and test results. I'm praying for nothing too troubling, also!

barbe, good for you switching jobs. The better hours with better pay sounds like a win/win to me!

BigD, we'll be with you through the rad ride! Yes, the mantra is moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!!! Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!!! Rest, rest, rest!!!!

kathy, hope that bug bypasses both you and hubby!

I had a good, but tiring day today. I got two shots of cortisone in my hand. The thumb feels better already now that the numbness has worn off. The finger is probably going to take a bit of time, but I am hopeful. A friend went with me, an old friend that I have known for 30 years. She has just in the last 2 years lost close to 200 lbs. It was the first time in forever that she had gone shopping in a store and tried things on. We had such fun! We both were trying to figure out what size we are, and had someone to bounce the looks off. It is so hard to see ourselves realistically sometimes. My little 20 lb loss seems so small next to hers, but it is all one pound at a time. Eh, carole and chrissy!

Thank you maca, I will do it!  Glad your hand is feeling better.  I need to lose a lot of weight myself, have lost some, but you are right, a pound at a time.  And 20 pounds is a lot, you should be proud!

  • barbe1958
    barbe1958 Member Posts: 7,605

20 pounds IS a lot!!! I probably need to lose 50, but know that I look "sicker" when I lose weight. It's hard on my bones to carry this weight around, but I'm stronger than any of my GFs that weigh less! Go figure.

I'm currently getting checked out in my abdomen for something and maybe that result will help me lose weight, but I'm careful what I wish for....Singing

It's always amazing to see how the leaves pop out on trees when you aren't looking!  It's definitely spring around here even though we just had a last "cold snap" the past couple of nights.  The weeds in the lawn are going wild.  My back aches in advance of all the yard work that needs to be done.

  • chrissyb
    chrissyb Member Posts: 11,438

Hi girls!  Sound like spring is one the way to springing over there just as the leaves are beginning to turn here.........I am just thankful for the cooler weather.

Had my appointment with the ortho yesterday and it's all a go for the knee replacement.........I just have to wait a day or two for his scheduling nurse to phone me with the date.  It won't be for about three months as that's how far ahead he is usually booked but that's good as it will allow me a little time to try to lose a few more pounds before surgery.

I'm off to the city tomorrow for the hearing aide appointment.......finally!  I think the way it goes is they show me what's available then do a mold of my ear then I go back in a week or so for a fitting and set up.   After that it is a couple of fortnightly visits for adjustments and then I'm good to go........I can't wait as hearing in mono is fast becoming old hat and very annoying.

    Love n hugs all!    Chrissy

Barbe I sure hope it is nothing at all in your tummy, other than a craving for some chocolate. :)

Chrissy they are advertising  partial knee replacements here. I know nothing at all about this, just reporting.

Carole aren't those Hollyhocks in your avatar? I love those flowers, we had them along the fence in the alley of my childhood home in Chicago.

Thanks Ginger....I'll keep y'all posted even if you don't want to know as this is the only thread I've mentioned it on...I think.

I LOVE Hollyhocks as they are so demanding of attention! So..out there...so Disney!!

    carolehalston Member Posts: 8,214

Those are hollyhocks in the picture, which was taken a few years ago in Eden, South Dakota, population 100.  We have friends who live in Eden and we have visited them several times.  It's fun to walk in Eden because you run out of town when you walk 5 or 6 blocks in any one direction!  If you keep walking, you could be in the middle of a corn field.

I've been gearing myself up to paint our living room and the room that was my office for years.  I bring home paint chips and tape them up on the walls.  We're going to turn the office into the guest room and the current guest room into a smaller office.

    Hi all!

Barbe keeping my fingers crossed for you that the something is a nothing.

Ginger, yes they do partial here as well........a partial is when they only replace the joint not the knee cap but unfortunately my knee cap has a groove in it that you can lay your finger in.......lol.......so it also needs to be replaced with a lump of metal.  I haven't heard from the scheduler yet but I'm sure I will soon.

Carole hollyhocks seem to grow wild where I live........early summer and they are every where, so much so that people pull them out!  I've had them pop up in my driveway and as much as I would love to leave them to do their thing, I need to put my car exactly where they want to grow........lol.

I'm heading back t the city in a few minutes to go for my first sitting at the audiology clinic for my hearing aide......yay!  I'm so glad that this ball is finally rolling!  I let you all know how it goes later tonight when I get back.

    Have a great day all!

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy

chrissy, welcome to the hearing aid club!! Hope you're trip to the city is not too taxing.

barbe, waiting with you for the all clear!

chabba, have you heard anything yet? Did you meet with your new doc today?

I was in the city yesterday for my 6 month skin check with my derm, only one spot needed to be frozen. On my chest of course! I was happy, I get another 6 months to play. But I can't swim for a little bit.

I went to my local bc support group tonight. It was fun! There were two new women, tho. There is so many new cases all the time. sad!

Carole, When you narrow it down, get a small jar of the colors you're considering and paint a piece of posterboard leaving a white edge. You'll get a much better idea of how it will work on the wall. Chips I liked in the samples were often too light or too dark on the wall.
