Oh Lisa, you mean to tell me that your curiosity was only piqued when you were looking at the photo?  Shame on you.......lol......I would have been down there in a flash!!!  hahahahaha!!!     Yeah, right.........not with my knees....but I really would have been curious enough to send some one else down there to have a look around.  You need to go back and see if it's still the same, take some one young and uber fit and send them in with a great big flashlight!!   Might surprise you, and us, as to exactly is inside.

Barb, Jeffereon Starship was great. They have free concert in Coralville every July 3rd with different bands. You see how late I'm up, way past my bedtime, but we are having fun. Wilsie

Conversation last night at the animal shelter:

Volunteer to British animal officer: Do you celebrate the 4th of July in England?

British animal officer: No we don't celebrate our defeats. It was your independence from us.

Oh Wren!! That is hilarious!! Did you hear that or did someone tell you about it.

Fife and drum? I prefer bag pipes......

hi all, Happy 4th of July! All our celebrations are being moved to tomorrow! We are in the midst of Tropical Storm Arthur. This old house sure does creak and have lots of drafts. But I am warm and dry.

Wren, that was a good one!!!

Aly, I hope you are recovering from your trip. I am so glad you got to see your family!

Kathy, that vacation will be the one you remember for ever.

welcome, lilyrose! you seem to fit right in.

How wonderful, Leah! Enjoy the new babe! Is she with you or over here in the states?

barbe, I'm with you I thought the pic Wilsie posted was a wonderful job of editing. lol

carole, hope your cycling was wonderful in the cooler weather.

3jays, we are in the midst of summer madness here! I just want to stay home and stare at the water. I moved over to my grandmother's old house in VH. Last night the Shenandoah was moored out front and scared us to death when they shot off their sunset cannon. It took the dog an hour to come out of my room. lol

chrissy, you don't surprise me with your recovery! It's your get up and and go attitude that gets you moving. Just think of the trips ahead of you now with new knees!!!!

My DD is driving my car (it is an automatic) and I get her manual one until her hip can take some weight. I feel like a young person zipping around. And since her plates are from CO I can get away with acting like a tourist.

The construction is taking longer than we thought, but it still moving along. Now more of the work is being done on the inside. The plumbing, electrical and the gas lines are in, so as soon as they get inspected the walls can get closed in. I'll keep the pics coming.

missed you gals, while I've been so busy with the move and DD. I am very tired when it is hot and humid so usually take an afternoon nap. This old house needs lots of love. Things like brighter light bulbs, and all the ceiling light covers taken down and washed. Just time consuming stuff. It's feeling more like home, tho.

Oh Nancy, I can just picture you zipping along in your stick-shift!  Now that's something I really never mastered but enjoyed anyway.  I actually learned to drive on one but we got an automatic shortly after I got my license.  I'm glad your construction is still progressing.  It seems like it shouldn't be too much longer now.  And glad about DD's progressive recovery too!

Hope everyone has had an enjoyable 4th of July.  DH and I didn't do anything, no family gathering, I mean, although we did go to a parade this morning.  Then brought DGS #1 home with us until mid-afternoon.  The neighborhood is quiet at last, no more fireworks being set off.  It's good that the house is well insulated because otherwise the dog would have been a wreck!

Lisa, I loved the picture of the fife and drum corps!  You're lucky to be able to see something like that.  (We had high school bands.)

Wilsie, finger or not, it was a nice effect!  Beautiful koi pond.

3jays, can't remember if I replied to you or not and goodness knows I can't go back, but it's always good to see you.

    Hugs to everyone,

    Kathy

    Hi all,

Been laying low for a few days.  On day three after infusion and am feeling really awful.  I'm so ready to be done with chemo. (Fingers crossed).

macatacmv - Thanks for the welcome!  I used to love driving stick shift.  I look forward to getting to know you!

Lisa - Love the pics of fife and drum corps!  But like Barbe, I am a sucker for bagpipes!  Guess I inherited that from my mother.  :)

Wilsie - Beautiful koi pond!  You could have fooled me about the finger. Happy

I'm off now...would love to go curl up in my bed, but it seems my day is going to be spent in the loo!

    Hugs to all, lilyrose

Awe Lilyrose I'm feeling for you........chemo sure does yuk things to our systems but you will get through it.......just remember every one you do is one less that you have to do.  Rest on your bed or the loo where ever is needed most.  (((((hugs))))))

Lisa I love those pics of the fife and drum band and I enjoy hearing them when they pop up on the net or in a movie as we don't have them here at all.

Barbe I too love the bagpipes, enough that I used to play in a pipe band many moons ago......lol......I doubt I'd have enough blow now to even get the bag filled!  My younger sister also played in the same band but she played the kettle drum.......I think we gave mum a few headaches when we were practicing.......hahahaha!

Ginger, how cute!  I just listening to the little ones with their words as you never know what their interpretation is going to be and I have heard some doozies over the years......even my own children had me in fits at times!

Kathy sometimes its good to just have a quiet day......that in itself can be a celebration.

Nancy I used to love driving stick shift but then I got lazy and bought an automatic.......lol.  I can still drive one just fine but it's years since I've owned one.  I can just see you zipping around doing the tourist thing.....too funny....lol.  It's good that your DD is healed enough to get behind the wheel already, it sounds like she is doing really well.  I just love your little house and can't wait to see more of the pics as it progresses.

Wren that was too funny, I just a gagged on a mouthful of tea!! Yes, and my computer almost wore it......managed at the last minute to close my lips but almost choked then......had to put the computer down for a few until I got control of myself......lol.

Wilsie, any pics you post will be acceptable.......I though the finger idea a bit of bright idea!  Loved the Koi pond.......it looks so peaceful that it would be a great place to sit and contemplate with the sound of the tinkling water in the background.....just lovely!

3jays, it's always a treat when you pop in!  Hope you a doing okay at the moment.

Girls, I swear I answered all your posts just after Lisa's pics but it obviously disappeared into the nether world never to be seen again......lol. ( or it could be that I forgot to hit submit but I'm not owning up to that one as it could make you believe I'm loosing my mind...lol).

    Have a good one all!!

    Love n hugs.   Chrissy

I know a lot of people who hit PREVIEW and then move on thinking they have posted.....Shocked

My daughter used to have Kimisms (think Gumpisms) - her name is Kim. We would be driving somewhere and she would say stuff like Huh, can you remember when I used to think pumpkin pie was made from pumpkins!! (15 yo) - like what do you say to that? She also thought a dashboard on a car was a bashboard and that it was a gardening snake because it was found in a garden! We were in the van with all four kids once and listening to the news as we drove on the highway. The news mentioned that a small town got attacked by gorillas and we heard a GASP from the back of the van! We had to assure Kim that it was not those kinds of gorillas....hehehehehehe

Lol Barbe such funny things said from your DD.  My eldest DD used to call an elephant an offalu, second DD called the cemetery a germany and son called a truck a.......well I think you can imagine what the substitution was.......lol.......very embarrassing when he saw one while we were out shopping! Mac, how special to have the Shenandoah anchored in your wonderful view!  Sorry about the hurricane messing up your 4th.  Living in Louisiana on the Gulf Coast, I've suffered through many hurricanes and tropical storms.

Hurricanes are awful in many ways.  But one bad thing is the way we vulnerable humans always hope the hurricane won't head OUR way.  We're really, really sorry that a hurricane hits the East coast but we're also really, really glad it didn't come rampaging into the Gulf.

Today our campground is emptying out as folks head home to return to their jobs tomorrow.  By tonight dh and I will have the whole place to ourselves.  We enjoy both phases, the busy activities of the weekenders and the weekday quiet.  We keep an eye on some of the privately owned boats and pump them out when it rains.

Our 4th was uneventful and rather boring.  But it was our own fault.  We could have gone to a parade and stayed in town to watch fireworks.  But I do appreciate our freedom and the life we're able to live in our country.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday.

Mac, what fun to see the ship.Did they put up the sails? There is something about a tall sailing ship that pulls on my heart. Imagine sailing at sea with only the wind for power. But I can't say that I would like to climb the rigging to set the sails.Somewhere in a past life I must have been out there.

I also had no idea that jade plants bloomed!  It's exquisite, such delicate flowers, and the pool water background, and the little butterfly--all so beautiful.
