Lisa, what sort? Is it a flowering gum, a wattle or a Eucalypt?
What a busy weekend for me! I have had a friend staying for the weekend and it has been fun......he has managed to do a whole lot of fixes for me of little things that have been annoying me for ages and I have managed to get my cabinets almost finished, just one more fine coat of paint to go, add the new handles and I will be done.....yipeee! I'm off to the city for the day tomorrow as I have a doctor appointment and I have a few questions that I want answered otherwise I would cancel it and wait for the next one......lol.
Hope you all are having a great weekend!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Chrissy, we have what they call here, the silver dollar eucalyptus
0 -
Lisa we call them colloquially the 'Penny Gum' but they are a type of eucalypt.
Good news when I got back from the city tonight (I forgot my phone) there was a message from the removalist saying they will be here in the morning with my new bed......yipeeee! I will be sleeping in comfort tomorrow night!......lol.
Yup, I did manage to get a few pics......lol.
And this one I took on the way home
Take care all!

I've been having computer problems which seem to clear up late at night. Don't know why, but I do know the solution is to start using my Windows 8 laptop! I used it at the beach this summer and a couple of times since, but I seem to rebel against Windows 8.
I've so enjoyed the pics Lisa, Chrissy, and Nancy. Lisa, it's so unusual how your California pictures were so similar to the ones Chrissy posted. And Nancy, it looks like you're having a wonderful time! Beautiful scenery.
Trying to "declutter" a bit at home. I have some of those big bags that "condense" items for storage and I'm trying to put some of DH's mother's crocheted afghans in them. She was a very sweet lady and I loved her dearly, but her color sense was sometimes rather startling!

Kathy! I'm so glad to see you, I was wondering where you were........I hear you with the Windows 8, it took me a little while to get used to it but it's not so bad once you get used to it. I went from XP straight to Windows 8 so there were so many things that were so totally different, like can I say all of it!......lol. Anyway, nice to hear from you.
Oh Aly, not another fall!! Girl you are going to have to start using your stick all the time! I'm so concerned about all the things happening to you of late so do take care of yourself, I selfishly want you in one piece when I visit in November!!!
Barbe I pulled over to take that.....it was a little darker but the camera automatically adjusted for more light.....something I will have to watch for when shooting on dark. The trees were darker and the so was the foreground so the moon really stood out so I was a little disappointed with the pic but it's not too bad......lol.
Well girls my new bed arrived yesterday and was delivered by a couple of well put together young males........it was really nice to watch them putting it all together......lol, yes I'm being bad but it was a great start to my day....oh now you are being bad......lol.....I meant getting my new bed!.....lol. It's all put together and made with new lined and blankets plus I had to demolish the lounge room to get the jolly thing through the house so I had to put it all back together.......boy was I tired last night!!! No not just an excuse to go to bed early......lol.....I really was tired and the new bed is divine! I only remember waking twice!.....perfect!!! Now to get the side cabinets finished and in place.
Have a good day all!

chrissy, aren't good beds just divine!! And watching the young lads, too.
I am very happy to be back in my comfy bed!!! I love traveling, but love coming home more!!! lol I am on hold on the phone trying to track down DD's bed frame that we thought would be delivered while we were gone. Just got through they are waiting for approval of the ferry tickets so it is on it's way but slowly.
Well, it was harder to post pics than I thought it would be so kinda left you gals hanging with the cable car (funicar) pic. I thought I would be able to post more right away, but it is funny that my DD didn't like me paying too much attention to my computer.
That's DD on the observation deck. Above Hallstatt. Note the castle to her left, it is privately owned!

The village of Hallstatt as seen from above. Our hotel was the yellow building next to the church.

OMG!!! What a view!!!! Mind you, you wouldn't be getting me out on that observation deck.......no siree!!! Stunning view and all I think my fear of heights just might kick in......lol. That village just looks like it's hanging there on a ledge and makes me wonder just how the dickens do you get there?! Stunning, stunning lake and mountains.........there sure are some beautiful scenic areas on this big blue planet!! Yes Nancy, being home and in your own bed is the best part of traveling........lol.
Lisa what an incredible shot!! Stunning!!!!

Nancy those pictures are great. Wish I could have tagged along with you.

I wish you coulda tagged along too. Even tho DD was still recovering from hip surgery, she had lots more energy than I did.
chrissy, there is a picture of me on the observation deck and my hand is gripping that fence for all it's worth. lol, like that could save me. The whole experience was a test of faith.
ughh, I just opened all my mail that collected while I was gone and should be doing book work for the shop that I need to catch up on, but would rather talk to you. My DS is coming down tonight, a high school buddy is getting married and he is in the wedding party. Tis the season for weddings.

Lol Nancy, I would like to see those as I could relate, no problems at all.....hahahaha! Did you get the bookwork done? I agree, much nicer talking to each other.........lol.
Went over to a large rural town today to meet up with some other BC ladies and on the way, yes you guessed it.....lol......of course I had the camera with me! These I took on the way back when the sun was on the way down and the shadows were just perfect.
The 'lake' in the bottom pic is actually a large dam that has overflowed and formed a lake.......we had so much rain over the winter it has been great for the countryside.
Take car all and have a great day!

We could use some of that rain. Even a little.

Here is a pic of the bride and her father. I did not take this picture. She is so beautiful and the setting was gorgeous. The weather was supreme. A wonderful memory!
I love your landscape shots, chrissy! So clear, it looks so serene!
I'll have to get some shots of the house to show y'all. Of course it is not as completed as we thought it might be when we got home, but they are staining the floors and working on hardware on the doors and windows. So getting closer. We are discussing patio plans. We are now over budget and way over time. Seems like every other construction project!

Oh Nancy what a beautiful girl! and a stunning bride!! She looks so, so happy she is glowing and dad looks so proud he's fit to burst!
Isn't it always the way that things are never as complete as we would like but don't give up, it will be done before you know it now that you are back with the whip!.....lol. Can't wait to see the pics of the completed cottage.
Thanks girls for the 'likes' for my pics.......I just love taking shots in the late afternoon as the light is just so different and add just that something extra to a pic.
Take it easy all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Chrissy, I love it when you take your camera along..

Yes, half the battle is always having the camera. My niece takes incredible photos and takes her camera absolutely everywhere with her. She even takes advantage of all our traffic jams to get shots of downtown.

Hello all, I have been absent a while but have been following you all when I can. You may remember that I plan to retire October 1st, and have signed up to volunteer with a hospice group. I really want my time to make a difference to someone, and the hospice opportunity appeals to me. The director has asked me if I will get a hepatitis shot, and am wondering if that's a good idea? I will ask my onc at my appointment on 29th, but wondered if anyone has an opinion here. I did tell her I would sit with patients while family members run errands or just get away for a while , or just go read to someone who needs some company. Maybe being Stage IV myself will make me more sensitive to what they are going through. I hope that I am not biting off more than I can chew.
Any opinions on the shot?
Wilsie

Wilsie, I'd say to discuss the hepatitis shot with your oncologist and go by what he/she says regarding whether it would be wise to get it. And volunteering with hospice is such a wonderful thing for you to do, too. When I was going to nursing homes, I always left with far more than I gave. I hope you'll enjoy being retired. DH and I love it!
I too am so enjoying all these lovely photos! Weather here is cloudy, rainy and just generally drab these past few days--not many photo ops and everything's so soggy anyhow.
We surprised DGS #1 yesterday and picked him up from school for a sleepover. He's missed us so much (and vice versa!) since his kindergarten started so we tried to make it a special night for him. Those swimming "noodle" floats ( placed between the mattress and bottom sheet) are wonderful for preventing falls out of bed, so I'd gotten them. They don't prevent a child from getting out of bed if they want to, though, and at the first midnight clap of thunder DGS was thundering into our room. So, we had a very talkative bedfellow between us until first light, when he proclaimed it was morning and time to get up. We'll start babysitting DGS #2 two afternoons a week this coming week, so here we go again! We're fine with it now that we no longer keep anyone full time, though.
Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

Wilsie. I have had both hep shots.

Wilsie I'll hang with Kathy and have a talk with your onc before doing anything about the hepatitis shot.......I guess it all comes down to how your liver is performing as to whether he/she will agree. What you have chosen to do is a fantastic thing and I'm sure that you will empathize far more with being stage IV yourself. The only thing that would make it hard is if you have a difficult person who is not dealing well with their dx and it leaves you unsure of your own path. I really hope that doesn't happen but it was a thought that popped into my mind.
Kathy oh yeah....lol......I've had many a night with a grandchild sleeping (or not) in between DH and I and yes they do tend to get chatty........lol. It's such a lovely thing to be able to have the grands but make sure you make the most of every second while they are little as when they get to be teenagers the visits tend to slow and then you just get the special occasion visits as they make their own lives. This is coming from the voice of experience.......lol. My grands are all growing up, almost (November) 19 and 17 for one lot and 18 and almost (December) 16 for the other........they grow up so fast! Enjoy having DGS #2!
It has been a stunning day here today and I have missed most of it.......DH took me out for dinner with some friends last night and for some reason I fancied orange juice to drink. Now that is something I haven't drunk for over twenty years because it always upset my tum.......well, here was I thinking that it would be better now as I'm on Px Somac and what would be the likely hood of me reacting badly to it? Yup, you got it! I woke up this morning, got up went to the bathroom, came out and made a cup of tea, had my yogurt for breakfast sat down and was about to open my computer and I felt like a bus had hit me! I obviously felt that way when I got up but was still half asleep so it didn't register.
I decided to go back to bed and that's where DH found me at 3pm when he got home. I must admit that I feel better now and I can only put it down to drinking the orange juice as that is the only thing different that I had that could upset me. Well, lesson learned! There will be no more consumption of OJ for me in the future!
Have a great day all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Wilsie, I agree with the others about asking your onc, but it's for your protection, right?
