    Hi ladies!

It's been awhile since I was on here.  Had lots going on.  My visit with my youngest daughter was fun, but those ten days flew by!  She took me to my last chemo on August 27th!  Then I had a wonderful surprise.  My middle daughter flew in from Maryland with her baby!  So I got to meet my newest grandchild at two months old.  It was a wonderful visit but short.  We had a day of fun shopping with my oldest daughter joining us.  I can't remember the last time I had all three girls with me!  Then I had a phone call from my son.  He was in port in Dubai.  I hadn't been able to talk to him for months.  We chatted for almost an hour!  Lol

I also had another UTI which I am thankfully over now.  I had a CT scan on Friday and will hear results this week when I see my MO.  I should also be starting rads soon.

I'm feeling better...a lot of the brain fog is clearing.  But my body isn't co-operating yet.  Still have terrible muscle aches in my arms and legs.  I'm losing most of my fingernails and now a few toenails look like they are following suit.  :(  oh well. They will grow back.  I just hope my neuropathy goes away!

Wilsie,  Volunteering with a hospice is a wonderful idea!  I also am in the camp that says check with your onc before getting that vaccine.

Chrissy,  Stay away from that OJ!  Lol. And keep on taking your camera with you wherever you go!

Lisa,  your photos are stunning as always!

Wishing you all well,  hugs,  lilyrose

Wow Lilyrose!  What a wonderful surprise for you to be able to meet your newest grandchild while she is still very little!  And to be able to spend even a day with all your daughters together is just the best and to top it off, a wonderful phone call from your son.........it just can't get much better than than except to say YAY!!!!  NO MORE CHEMO!!!!!  You did good to get through it all!  One more thing to go and the best advice for that one is moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!!!  The rads center will recommend what they like you to use but a lot a girls have used emu oil.  Good luck with it all and I look forward to seeing you a little more often.

Absolutely no more OJ for me......lol......lesson definitely learned!

I am already into the habit of leaving the house with camera in hand, the other day, I forgot my hearing aide and my foob but remembered my camera.....guess what is more important at the moment?.....hahahahaha!

Have a great day all!   Love n hugs.   Chrissy

I went for my routine ultrasound for my liver this am. The doc will tell me what it shows at the end of the month.

I am not in the hurry I once was to find out results..

stopped by the rose garden on my way home

Oh Lisa, why didn't you tell us you were going for the scan, we could have been in your pocket for support!  Here's hoping the results are all good and I for one will be keeping my fingers crossed that that is so,

As usual, your rose pics are gorgeous!  Is that the rose garden we went to?  It was truly lovely!

Been getting a bit of coaching on my photography and now am learning all about RAW files......there surely is a lot to learn but my spirit is willing even if the brain in week I will continue to prod it along until all the information is stuck well and truly........lol.......we are never too old to keep learning and it keep the brain active even if the body can't be..........lol.

    Have a great day all!

Chrissy RAW is used normally when you want to do post-photo work on it and/or blow it up pretty big. It will be too big of a file to upload here so don't do your best shots in RAW.

Lisa, I, too, am calm after a test knowing it's now out of my hands. I remember before I lay down for the MRI that confirmed my breast cancer thinking, "If I don't lie down, I'll never have to know...."

  • chrissyb
    chrissyb Member Posts: 11,438

Barbe, my first assignment is to work out how to convert RAW files to Jpeg rather than taking the pic in jpeg which I usually do.  There are some of my pics that would look really good blown up larger and framed as a wall hanging picture but I can't at the moment go bigger than A4.  My aim is to be able to sell my pics in what ever size is required by the purchaser and I have been told I should do an exhibition so I will be aiming to maybe doing something like that sometime in the future.

Yes I know that a RAW file is huge and to upload here needs to be around the 600 - 700 kb size........that's why I have to learn how to save from RAW to jpeg......lol.

So are you going to take ALL your pics in RAW?? That will take up a ton of space on your memory disks too. Hope it all works out for you. Where are you going to sell them? I've sold some of mine and it's gratifying for sure.

Chrissy, you are so right about the grandchildren.  I know that one day they'll balk at coming over here but for now, they love it, and it's apparent they love us too!  Unfortunately our first day of keeping DGS#2(Aiden) after preschool didn't work out too well.  He was sick when we got him and we were told he'd gotten increasingly worse in the last hour.  I called his mother and by then he was wheezing.  Doctor is almost sure he has enerovirus, and x-rays also showed pneumonia.  This was his very first "sick visit" to the doctor.

Barbe I have found that my camera takes both RAW and jpeg at the same time so I don't have to convert.  I'm using Corel Paint Shop as my editing program and it's really good,  Yes it's going to take up a tone of room as I found that the sample shots I took yesterday are over 30mb each in the RAW format and only 1mb in the jpeg.  I have decided to store them on an external drive to save my computer as I can get 2TB storage for about $90 Aus so the cost is not prohibitive.  There are a couple of Gallery Cafes here as well as DH store so I am hoping I can do something with them.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Lisa I checked out Lightroom but found it really confusing so just upgraded my Corel Paintshop as I found it the easiest to understand and use.

Kathy my grands don't balk at coming to see me they are just busy creating their own lives which is ok with me as I know that happens.  They are quite happy to call and have a conversation and often we chat on the computer as well so the contact is there just not so much face to face.

Awe you poor little DGS #2.....pneumonia!  I know kids just want mom when they are sick, poor little mite.......I'm just glad he got to the doc and is now being treated.  Sure hope he begins to feel better soon.

Hiya Wren!!  Nice to see you pop in!  How are you doing?!

Well today has been taken up with household chores, you know, the ones we really hate.....lol. I have had no time to play with the camera and I feel like a child who is being punished for being naughty....wahhhhh!!!!  Oh well, got it done today so I can play all I want tomorrow!!!

    Have a great day all!

wow, all this "camera speak" is above my head. lol I'm having a hard time just getting out the door to take pictures of the house. They are still painting. You know that saying "watching paint day" well, this is dragging on and on and on. I am trying to have patience and also to cajole my DD to have patience also.

We have been shaken by two rather sudden deaths lately. One was my kid's father twin brother, we had not had much contact with him lately. As soon as I was out of the country, DS got a call that he was in hospital on life support. I guess he had be dxed with lung cancer, checked himself out AMA and gone on a bender. By the time he got back in the hospital he was going thru the DTs and went into respiratory arrest. Poor DD had to deal with it on his own. But he was able to be there even if Marty didn't know, and he signed the papers and was there when he was let go. That whole generation of that family is now wiped out from addiction. It was hard for DD because he looked so much like his father, who had died almost 15 years ago. I am not looking forward to seeing my cell phone bill, I had to switch to a global plan to be able to speak to the US while I was on "vacation".

Then this weekend a young man on the island overdosed. He was only 25. It is so sad how the disease of addiction tells us we are not worth anything to anybody. One of the young women I sponsor went with his girlfriend to check on him and found his body. They are traumatized for sure. So I've had some emotional days. I am trying to take it easy on myself.

Lisa, we will wait with you on the scan results.

lily, yay for being done with chemo!!!!

kathy, hope little guy is doing better and liking it back at gramma's. And your little guy, too, barbe!

  • chrissyb
    chrissyb Member Posts: 11,438

Oh Nancy, so much to deal with all at once!  Condolences to you and your family on the loss of your BIL and Uncle.  What a terrible thing for your son to have to do.  It's an awful shame when a young one takes their own lives and double terrible when other young ones find them.......addiction is surely a scourge on the world.

I guess on the home front you were hoping to be able to be moved into the little house by now but things really are lagging aren't they?!  What is the hold up overall?  I can feel your frustration from here and hope that they get it done ASAP for you.

Lol on all the camera speak, I'm in class as we speak.......I have a photographer friend who has taken me back to school and is teaching me a lot more about my camera than even I knew were possible.  It's great fun and eventually I will have to take a trip over to Canberra so we can get to do some 'shooting' together.  That won't be happening for a few months yet as the next three months are my busiest of the year as I have three of the grandies birthdays, a trip to Brisbane with DD #2 as her backup for her body building competition there and then  a trip to Auckland to catch up with some of the Aussie girls and NZ girls from these threads.  Then of course I get back and it will be my birthday and then Christmas.......yup, the whole year is moving along at a very swift pace and before we know it, it will be new year all over again.

I've made myself tired just with the writing of what's  on the agenda! ......lol.

    Have a great day all!

My brother is almost nine years younger than I . He graduated from Rochester Institute for Technology with a major of photography. Whenever I have a real question, he is my resource..He really knows the business and was high up in Kodak before the fall. He saw it coming and retired with a lump sum while there was still a company to pay it. Anyhow he moved to Colorado and worked for IBM/Ricoh and then went on to EAZL which does canvas printing. The tragedy is that I rarely get to see any of his photos...but they are beautiful. But he is so far above what I need to do it is amazing..He sent me my first digital camera when they first came out with no instructions. It took a while to get it!! I am the kind of learner who needs to see what on earth we are talking about in a hands on way....hard to do that anymore..

    chrissyb Member Posts: 11,438

Wow Lisa!  What a resource!  I'd love to see some of his photographs as well as he sounds amazing!!!

I'm also a person who usually prefers to see it done and then I just duplicate but this time I actually have to read and then play......lol.  I must be getting old or something as I'm afraid I am a lot slower that I used to be......lol.,,,,but I will and am getting there.  I guess the exercise is good for the brain!

I have a new great-great niece. She's adorable and one of the few girls in the younger generation. Her Mom has 2 older boys and a husband who left when she found out she was pregnant. I hope she never goes back to him. Lots of her friends are telling her she can make it as a single Mom and I hope she listens.

Congratulations on the new little great niece, Wren.   I'm sorry the father chose to leave the family, but it sounds as if it wasn't such a bad loss!  Best wishes to all of you with this sweet little girl.

Beautiful picture of your pool, Lisa!  It must still be very warm if you're able to swim too.  Not that warm here, I'm afraid--seems rather like fall.

Thanks everyone for thinking of DGS.  He looks better, but actually is worse.  Pneumonia is now in both lungs.  He got another antibiotic shot this morning and goes back to the doctor for the 3rd straight day tomorrow.  If no better, he'll be hospitalized, and that probably would be a good thing.   When  I took his older brother home today, the baby was dancing in the living room.  so to all outward appearances, he seems  better.  We're on standby to keep DGS#1 over here if #2 has to be admitted tomorrow.  They're basically treating the pneumonia, as there is no treatment for entero virus.  Very serious scary stuff.  I'm so hoping DGS#1 doesn't get this too.  Had a talk with him today about the importance of washing his hands with soap as often as possible.

Wren,  Congratulations on your great-great niece!  Babies are so wonderful!

Lisa,  Your pool looks like a perfect spot to relax.

macatacmv,  Camera speak is over my head too!  I just sit back and enjoy looking at all the great photos.  I am sorry you are dealing with so much loss right now.

Kathy,  I will be including your little DGS in my prayers.  Pneumonia can be scary to deal with, especially in children.  Let us know how he's doing.

Had a good appointment with my MO today.  My labs came back improved and my CT scan was good.  No change in the nodules in my lungs.  So he thinks they are scarring from my pneumonia.  Also had my simulation today with the RO.  Supposed to start rads next week.

Hope you are all having a peaceful night,  lilyrose

Ooo Lisa, nice pool and really nice toes!......lol.  No where near warm enough to swim here, I am still wearing a light pullover even though the sun is warm.  The mornings are really lovely but as the day goes on it actually gets cooler and we had a 0 degree night again last night so spring is still just in the teasing stage.

Congrats Wren!!  A great-great niece!  How wonderful!!!   What a cretin your great-nieces husband is to walk out over her being pregnant!  Not much of a man there and she really is far better off without him so I will keep everything crossed that she doesn't soften and take him back.  Oh I envy you the cuddles of a new baby.......there is nothing like it!

Oh Kathy, I do so hope your DGS #2 starts getting well, pneumonia can leave scars for life on his lungs and that is not a good thing at all.  Sending prayers for speedy recovery for him and for the well being of DGS #1.

Lilyrose so glad your labs came back improved, that is such good news!  Here's hoping your onc is right and those nodes are indeed scar tissue.   Good luck with your simulation and rads, remember to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize........you will really be sick of hearing that by the time you are finished.....lol. Really though it is very important but I guess you already know that.

Finally!  Here girls is the new bed and bedside chests!

oooh chrissy, I love the bed and head board!! Looks very comfy and the comforter looks great too. Is that one that you made? The bedside chests look new! What a great picture in low light. Enjoy your feeling of accomplishment.

The painter stayed until 9pm last night at the other house. I think he has been read the riot act by the contractor. He is suppose to be finished up and out of there Friday at the latest.

Yes, Lisa your pool looks so inviting.

Lily, enjoy your respite from treatment for a week. Is your rad center close by? Hopefully, they will only take a small part of your day and you can get the rest you need to recover.

Wren, a grand niece! wonderful. That is so nice that you can be so involved with your grands. They will remember it forever. My DS still talks about how his Nana would pick him up from day care with a little container of m&ms. Of course, then he would be completely surgared up by the time he got home. lol

Thanks Nancy, I made that quilt about twenty years ago it has been used and washed and washed and washed!  I've even had to mend it.  It still looks good enough to use and I do love the colors in it.  I'm happy with the overall effect of the bed and the cabinets although the giant pillows won't arrive until next week.  They will be at the back nearest the headboard and cover the whole width of the bed.

That painter must be very slow or just plain slack!  I can't believe he has taken so long......hopefully he will finally be done by Friday for you.

Thanks to all for your prayers and positive thoughts about DGS.  Good news--no hospital, and he'd actually improved a bit today.  His blood oxygen level was back up to 99% from 89%, and he was playing and happy when I took his brother home this afternoon.  Still on antibiotics for pneumonia and double ear infections, and also on steroids.  Ever seen 'roid rage in an almost 2 year old?  It's a real picture!

Lilyrose, I was thinking of you a couple of days ago and was glad to see your post.  It's such a relief for us when a scan shows nothing of concern.  Chrissy's so right about the rads---moisturizing is the key!  Hope all is good to get started next week.  How nice that you got to meet your new granddaughter and saw both your girls, and a phone call from your son to boot!

Chrissy, I love the bed and headboard, and the quilt is simply beautiful!  I'd have never believed it was older because it looks brand new.  The room looks like a very relaxing place to sleep, too.

    Alyson, love the swan picture!

Lisa, is Balboa Park near your home?  You post such beautiful pictures from there.

We're under a severe thunderstorm warning, flood advisory, etc, for about another hour, but so far no rain and no thunder.   Hope it stays this way, too!
