my doc was glad that I made it in to see her. Wants me to be off the narcotics, but understands why I had to take them for a few days. She cleaned up the biopsy site and put a new band aid on. Then lots of trigger point injections. She gave me some in my neck by my ear and further up onto my head and I have to say my jaw feels so much better. It really does seem to be working. I will apply myself back to the routine and see her in another 3 weeks. She gives me a print out of what I "should" be doing each time, which really helps since I promply forget half of what she said. lol

Yay Nancy!! Great that she was able to help with the jaw!! Glad she wasn't too cranky with you about the narcs but I also get where you are coming from with them.........sometimes they are a necessary evil. Oh yeah, if I want to remember a list of any sort it has to be a written one so I can totally relate to needing doc instructions written down.....lol. Hang in there and try to follow the list over the next three weeks, you never know, you may even feel extraordinarily wonderful!
Must go, it is 3.00am and past time I was in bed.....lol.

Chrissy, what is your daughter's diet when she is competing? I know nothing about this subject so am interested.
0 -
Carol her diet is almost all protein with a few green veg. Everything is weighed and because she has so much muscle structure her metabolism is sky high........great for burning fat but not healthy so she is hungry just about all the time. The dieting and working out are almost unimaginable and takes a great deal of dedication and bloody mindedness to succeed. I would fail after two days and she has been following this regime non stop for the last six weeks. For the four months before that she has also been dieting all the time reducing all carb intake until she got to those last six weeks which then took care of any body fat she had left.
When she walks on stage for comp she is carrying less than 2% body fat.........it's really harsh.
0 -
Chrissy, what a severe diet this is! After competitions are over, does she go back to a normal diet? I'm sure it's still a low fat one, but can she eat more fruits and vegetables? I'd never last on the competition diet!
DGS Aiden (who had entero 68 virus and double pneumonia) is now in the ER at a hospital in Charlotte. No word yet on his condition, so waiting anxiously for a call. He's been totally fine, breathing well with no wheezing for the past 2 weeks, but started wheezing again and dr told them to bring him in ( of course it was after hours).
Otherwise, all is well. All DH's fishing clothes are washed and put away, as well as the dishes from his "chuck box". They're clean, but I like to run them through the dishwasher to be sure. Bud the Dog and Kathy the Wife are both back to normal!

Kathy, yes after comp the first thing she does is have an enormous bowl of pasta! She craves carbs so bad by the end that that is the first thing she reaches for and of course sugar. The day of comp they have chocolate coated cookies and soft jelly sweets to eat. The first time I saw this i was shocked but she explained the science and body response to this but I know it's not very healthy at all. Her normal diet is still 'clean' six days a week and then the seventh she allows herself anything her heart desires and her appetite is enormous!.......lol.
Oh NO!!! I do hope that little boy is okay!! It is so concerning that he is unwell again........please let us know his progress.
Sounds like all is well in your household again as the fisherman has returned from the sea, the dog is happy once again and everything is in it's place........sure does make for a very content Kathy......lol.
Nothing of any import happening here, I think all the dust that was stirred up by DD and her comps has begun to settle and we are getting back to 'normal' routine. The weather has returned to winter and I am back to wearing thick woollies to stay warm........I will be stripping them off by the weekend as it is forecast to be in the high seventies lower eighties. I sort of hate this time of year as it seems Mother Nature just can't make up her mind whether she wants to be cold or hot.........give her another few weeks and we will be into the thick of summer heat and wishing for these days of cold.
Take care all!

Update, Aiden was admitted to the hospital. Hopefully they can get him breathing and his oxygen level up again. I know this is where he needs to be but still can't help but worry. I'm just floored that this happened when he was doing so well.

Oh Kathy that is just so hard but you are right, he is definitely in the right place to get the treatment he needs to be able to breathe easier.......poor little mite, he must be feeling terrible. Sending prayers for his quick recovery and not more relapses.

Having a bad day. I had to put my old dog down . She was 16 and was having breathing problems . The vet said she was worse, even after the meds, so I made the decision. It was the right thing to do, I know this, but still am very sad. I will miss her. Sweet Molly, RIP.

Awe Wilsie, that is so sad...........It's terrible when we have to make that decision. Sending loads of warm (((((((hugs)))))))) to ease your heart.

Kathy, we feel so helpless when a little child is ill. Hope your grandson gets the care he needs in the hospital and returns home soon.
Wilsie, it's terrible to have to play God and make that decision to put pets out of their misery. I've been there and feel a lot of sympathy for you.
On the plus side, we had our first day of crisp fall weather today and it was wonderful to wake up and have the muggy air GONE! I'm even making plans to get out into the yard and do some much needed work.

Thanks Chrissy and Carole. We saw Aiden today and he seemed happy and playful. Everytime he was put into the crib "almost" asleep some staff member knocked on the door, so he certainly didn't get a nap. The breathing treatments were reduced from every 3 hours to every 4, so I suppose that's progress. And O2 levels are staying 95 or better, so that's great. Now, they think it might be asthma, but is definitely not a relapse of enterovirus 68.
Wilsie, I'm so sorry. I think just about all of us are animal lovers here, and most can identify with what you're feeling now. You know you did the right thing, but still, it's so hard. Hugs, friend.
Very tired here. Logan, our 5 year old DGS, is of course here and has been fed, bathed, homework done, and now bed. I'm the one who's tired!

Kathy, Oh my! I am sorry to hear that your DGS is back in the hospital. I hope he returns home healthy soon!!! I will keep him in my prayers.
Wilsie, I am so sorry you had to say goodbye to your dear old dog. Been there more than once. This time last year I was debating what to do with my very sick schnauzer. Saying goodbye never gets easier. Hugs to you.

Kathy, Glad to hear your DGS is doing better now. Hope he gets to go home pretty soon.
Wilsie, (((((HUGS))))) It's such a difficult decision and a gnawing sense of loss. I still miss my kitty and it's been almost 3 years.

It's very quiet on this thread. Hope everyone is doing well. Fall weather has finally arrived here in south Louisiana and I am finally getting some yard work done and some much-needed cleaning, outside and inside. Not a lot of fun, but I'm thankful I'm able to do some "grunt" work and it feels good when things look better.
I would happily pay someone to do the work, but wouldn't know how to go about finding that "someone" who would do it satisfactorily.

I could not live in a house with a yard, if I did not have help He comes every week and does leaves, shrubs, edging cutting and everything . He and my every other week housekeeper are my one luxury I don't spend a lot on myself, so I feel good about it
Carol, we probably have about the same weather, and I am enjoying the beginning of fall .
Not much else happening here I finally get to go to my gastroenterologist qppointment Monday took 6 weeks to get it, and I still have the same problems . Let's hope he can straighten me out!

Why is it that every time I go to the dermatologist they find something to freeze off. Oh yeah, I forgot that I was a lifeguard when I was a teenager.

Thanks to all of you for your concern about DGS Aiden. He's home from the hospital and had a post-hospital visit with his pediatrician today. They think it's asthma. Dr said they will possibly do allergy testing in the near future, but for now to keep giving him the breathing tx every 4 hours. DIL was also told it's important for her to keep the house very clean because of allergens there. Living inside are a cat, a rabbit, and a new dog, so they could also trigger it I think.
Carole, the arimidex has done such a job with my bones and joints now that I can barely do anything in the yard. One more year to go, and then I'm done! DH does all our yard work and I'm grateful for that. He'd rather be outside than inside and he loves it.
Hope all of us have a great weekend!

Hi all! Wow! Busy four days!!! Friday I drove over to Pt Pirie for our monthly meeting with the newly appointed breast nurse for this area........we have a lunch, which is lovely and then I spent the afternoon with one of the girls who lives about forty minutes from me. We had a great time chatting and we spoiled ourselves with a yummy coffee and cake at one of the cafes before saying goodbye.
I stayed overnight in the local motel as on Saturday there was an Old Scholars get together at my old school and I had been asked to speak. It was such a privilege! I was amazed at the way the school look after over forty years (closer to fifty actually....lol) and what was once a very segregated girls and boys school it is now a very up to date co-ed one. My speech was very well received and I was even complimented by quite a few of the current students who were acting as hosts for the day. I surprised myself as I am not really very good at public speaking as I usually get too nervous and forget what I want to say but all went very well.
I was so tired when I was done, that half way home (about an hour and a half journey) I had to pull into a rest stop and have a power nap! I had an early night and rested well yesterday as I had my regular doc's appointment today and I almost forgot about it.......thank goodness for txt reminders!!!
I have been, over the last six months getting more and more fatigued and I am now sleeping twelve hours and still wanting to go back to bed after a couple of hour so today I finally mentioned it to the doc. Yes, you got it, more bloods taken and testing for all sorts of things as well as ordered a sleep study and faxed the request off while I was sitting there so now I wait for notification from them when. I really do want to get to the bottom of this as I know how I feel is not normal for me and reminds me of how I felt before the bone mets were discovered. Keep your fingers crossed girls that I only have a sleep problem.
Well, after a long drive to the city and back today, I really am pooped. Hoping all are well and Kathy, I sure hope little Aiden is back on his feet and running amok!
Love n hugs all!!! Chrissy

Wilsie I'm hoping it's something simple like low white count or I'm just getting old or thyroid playing up etc, etc. I'm hoping it's not a sign that the cancer is on the move again.

Hey everyone, I'm finally feeling back like myself. Whew! I had the new crowns put in today so I should be done with it all. I want to be able to chew again.
I had a weird episode tonight. This morning when I showered I felt a bump on the back of the top of my thigh. I couldn't get a good look at it, but it looked red and kinda dark. I had to run to pick up my Aunt for running errands so forgot about it until after dinner. I showed it to my DD, who freaked out. She insisted on taking me to the ER. (I haven't been to the ER for about 15 years) It turned out to be a tick. I felt kinda silly, I pull them off the dog all the time and I would have pulled this one off too if I knew it was a tick. I thought it was a growth. lol Anyway, the doc got the complete tick out, gave me a dose of antibiotic and I am good to go.
Guess what, they are saying the house might be done by the end of the month. The patio has been put in and some plantings. I'll get some pics soon. My DD is climbing the walls.
Wilsie, so sad about your dog. They leave such holes in our lives. Hope your appt was informative.
Kathy, glad the little one is doing better. I hope they figure out what is wrong and can take steps to correct it.
Lisa, I sure know that feeling.
carole, have fun enjoying the feel of fall.
chrissy, I pray you get to the bottom of your fatigue. Yes, lets hope it is a simple solution. Sleep is so important, but sometimes so hard to get. lol about the getting old bit.
0 -
Chrissy, I'm hoping you'll find that your fatigue has absolutely nothing to do with the cancer. Nothing at all! There are all kinds of sleep disorders too. Mine is apnea, and I do use a machine each and every night. Thinking all good thoughts and prayers for you as you get to the bottom of this.
Nancy, the end is actually in sight! Can't wait for more pictures. And a tick? Glad you got it totally out. We have years where there are lots of them but this year hasn't been bad. Glad your dental problems are being sorted out.
Carole, I'm glad you're enjoying the fall too. It's turned very chilly here and the heat is on! I also have a winter gown and socks (!) on.
Aiden's still doing well. DIL has a wedding to photograph on Thursday so we'll keep him all day and get his brother from school too. Thursday's an odd day for a wedding but the couple found that they could save lots of money having it then. Makes sense to me!
Hope all of us have a good week.

Just a quick hi to all.

mac, Yikes! I really don't like ticks...I have spent countless hours over the years scouring my horses, dogs and kids for ticks. Thank goodness we do t have a big problem with them here in AZ. I hope your tick bite clears up well with the antibiotic. Keeping my fingers crossed that the house is finished soon!
Kathy, So glad to hear that little Aiden is doing well!
Chrissy, I will be praying that your fatigue is nothing to worry about...just you over doing it! Take care of yourself woman! Lol
Hugs to all, lilyrose

saw this little fellow on my way to buy groceries today..
and this
glad the tick was taken care of...I hate it when you have something you can't see...one time I took
a photo of my rear end to see what was growing there...had it frozen off...
Sleep tight...

Lisa, love the pic of the bird. So clear!
Poor thing looks like it only has one leg. I might be a little sensitive to gimpy birds. I was watching a flock of "wild" turkeys cross the road the other day and some of them really had a limp going. We have roving bands of these birds, traffic actually stops for them to cross the street.
lol Lisa, about the photo. My DD had taken a pic of my "area" to show me and we still couldn't tell what it was. I gotta get a better camera.

Those birds rest on one leg, so he is fine!

yesterday I got to go cutting in a friend's garden before the frost.
