Blessings, I get that same reaction to a hair or eggshell or even a piece of gristle (ewe, hate that one). Somehow I was willing to make an exception for caffeine!

Have been working long hours training in a new area of hospice, day off today, opened email for the 1st time in days and got your PM Sassy, but I called Mary's family too late..... Very sad to hear about her passing, and sad that I wasn't in touch to help her family. All posters might not agree with me, but I need a safe place to say what I'm feeling today: as a hospice nurse, sometimes a small part of me feels some relief when I know someone dear is released from pain and fear, and that is how I feel about our Mary right now.
Didn't know where to post this so went trolling around looking for Chevy, Cammi and Sassy and I found youse. Yer all owlettes , now, so glad I found you.

Sounds like you have been working too hard. I hope DH is still well and on the straight and narrow too!
I know what you mean about Mary. It is so sad that she was taken from this earth far too soon and that her family was robbed of her.
We watched our neighbor fight a hard battle with the beast (vaginal, not breast, but still ugly). She did well,for a long time and made it longer than MD Anderson gave her. My wish and prayer for her towards the end was as long as she was happy and had some quality let her enjoy, but when the time comes, let it be quick. By the grace of God that is what happened for her. She went to hospice on a Monday and was gone on that Saturday.
It is sad for those left behind, but those that leave become happy and whole again. No more pain, no more suffering. I hope Mary's family and those here that knew her well find some peace in her passing.
This damn disease just bites ass.
Their is a lady on another thread with me that is a hospice nurse just like you. She travels around like i think you do. You two would have a lot to vent about! Let me know if you want her name. Might be a source of support and friendship for you? Geographically in the US, I don't think she could be further away from you though! New England!

Shellshine, I think often the family feels the same way. I've heard people in my family say it was a blessing that their pain was over. As much as you want the person you're losing to go on, realistically you want them to go on the way they were, not in pain and suffering. The memories you want to keep are the ones of the good times.

Hi all, just checking in to say hello. Feeling sad tonight. My 10 year old blind Pekingnese female dog eye pressure has increased and causing her pain. The only relief is to completely remove her eyes :-( She went blind in January due to diabetes. But now no matter how many different medications we've tried in her eyes the pressure keeps increasing. So next Thursday May 15, she's scheduled to have both eyes removed.

Shell it's so good to see u we miss u, come by as often as u can and try to keep some order here. I've tried really, but Chevy, 4 and others run amuck and Sas no one understands her most of the time and Ziggy is in her own world--I'm the only sensible sane one here--it's very hard to have a natural intelligent conversation with people who are maroon, that's such a deep color, so I guess they'r deep. I really hope u'r doing well with u'r job and u'r family.

Hey Shells! So good to hear from you! I know what you mean.... Yes, I think the same way... When we are close to someone, like family or friends, that is having such a ROUGH time, we don't want to see them pass away, but another part of us just PRAYS for them to be at peace, and out of pain! We know it's gone beyond what we can do, and we just have to wait, and hold our breath... and when they DO finally go to sleep, it hurts, but at least we know they are in their own special place, and they live forever in our hearts...
When my Grandma AND my Dad were going through that, I just talked to them, told them how much I loved them, but I would always be with them... I got up on the bed with my Grandma, and just held her after she had gone... I just wanted her to know that I was there... I didn't know what else to do... We just have to believe they are in a better place...
Now little miss Susan! Tungsten DOES have a brain! We just don't want him to hear these disparaging remarks made by SOME around here! So we can put little ear-muffs on him in the dog-house.

Good morning. Been lurking for awhile and eating bread crumbs that someone left behind. Just don't seem to have energy these days. Must be the breadcrumb diet.
Pawprint, I know it is hard to accept, but I've seen lots of enucleation surgeries and she will feel so much better and so will you once it's all done and healed. Wishing you all the best and I'm sorry you both have to go through this. But hang in there.
Having my stereotactic brain radiosurgery today. PET scan on Friday. Hoping to be back soon.

Fiercely - I'll be thinking about you today.....while I'm doing my psych eval. I wonder how that will turn out. Good for you for following the breadcrumbs. We all know what a breadcrumb trail is. It's just the following of the trail with possible gaps (caused by birds, bluebirds included) that can get dicey. Please be sure to use your GPS if you lose the breadcrumbs!

If the plan is to take you to the ICU, don't be concerned --it's usual. SpecialK came to the ICU at Moffit in Tampa for mine. SHE brought CHOCOLATE. OMG, we ate chocolate and fruit all afternoon. They'll give you steroids just like chemo. So, you'll be flying. The flight is much better with CHocOLate and someone that YAKS.

The RAI131 update-----I'm having every friggen s.e. in the book. and allot more that aren't there. My lessons which I'd rather do without. Fairly sure my eardrum ruptured during the night. That ones NOT in the books. It hurts , but feels like a better hurt b/c the previous hurt was not nice.

Pawprint - sorry for the pain your furbaby has been having. Fierce knows her doggies for sure. I look at my furbaby getting a white face and have to think back that she is 7 already. Has recently been banned permanently from sleeping on the couch after barfing on it again. DH found a bargain dog bed with a removable cover. Inside is almost perfectly a king size pillow - furbaby is 19# rat terrier. Thank goodness she has taken to it but we have to put newpapers/plastic on couch to keep her off. Old dog never was allowed on couch and never attempted - 36# chow mix long gone.
Um - Smaarty a cat house. Euphemism for place of ladies of ill repute (being delicate for those of delicate constitutions). A dog house, a cat house, a nut house, what else can be find to occupy? Goat house very tame by those standards and they only like it if it is raining.
I have chocolate stashed in refrigerator in amazing amounts. DH pouts because it is dark - um that's why I still have it. I missed the Easter candy clearance at local grocery. Usually very good buys on standard stuff - Nestle, Hershey. Wonder if Mother's Day is a candy sale event? I have a steak craving, grilled by DH. Wonder if DD is coming out - prob. not. Doubt if she even knows it's Mother's Day.
