me today.  (well, everyday, but esp. today. )

    image

  • oh no, Chevy, that silly stool! Have done that going down the stairs in the dark and miss the bottom one.

Smaarty, let us know how today went.

Don't have time to go back my couple pages so jumping in from here. Have an iPad problem and spending too much time on it, maybe an Owlette has a clue: starting yesterday, can no longer get gmail on the iPad. When I try to access (either by google search for gmail or by bookmark) the screen just flickers very rapidly. Tried googling but there's nothing that I found that addresses this problem. Thanks!

tang, hope you're getting somewhere today with your issues.

Mine are done. Staying with Kaiser, current insurance. The PS will do the kind of implants I want, Sientra shaped, same size, can't ripple and she'll put in allederm which should help keep them where they belong. Sometime in November, have to wait until my weight settles. Wish it could be sooner but I understand. She Can't promise that this will stop them from hurting but I figured it can't hurt (much)!  Actually, I seem to have an easy time after sx as long as I don't wake up sick.  I cancelled the second appt with the other PS, no sense in wasting his time if I'm not changing.  I wasn't a happy camper this morning, figured she'd change her tune just like the last PS did. But I think she'll do nicely and I'm feeling good about this.  I'm putting it out of my mind from here until November!

Wishing you all the best and thanks for listening. It is nice to talk to others and get things off my chest  (ha ha:)

  • Geez!!!! Where IS everybody?

well, everyone must be sleeping, or eating or having problems with their PC, iPad or whatever.  Spookie, you're probably sleeping by now. Think I'll go find some goodies to eat!

  • Smaarty, glad that's resolved, sounds like to your satisfaction? Be careful with the goodies, as long as they're healthy (after all your hard work) - says the one who finally had to make the chocolate cake she's been craving for weeks.

Will try to BBL, we'll see

  • Hi Ladies - Do you have room for one more?  I have been reading so many threads, but can't seem to find a home. I will be having my DMX on October 3rd, but no one has started that thred yet.  There is so much information here, but, I really feel like I want to connect with you incredible women.  Insomniacs seems like a place I need to be since I haven't slept much since my DX.  My biopsy said I have DCIS, 1.5-cm and the first surgen said I needed to decide between a lumpectomy or a mastacomity. Then the MRI came back and said the cancer was 6-7cm with suspicion of infiltrating ducta carsonima an not likely amenable to breast conservation surgery. The next surgeon said, my right breast needed to go.

My grandmother was DX with breast cancer at my age, 52 and passed 5 years later. I feel like all this is nebulous . The information seems to just trickle in and you really don't know what you're facing until the surgery to remove your breast. I decided to let both go given my family history, but I am scard...

SummerSun- welcome to the crappiest club ever!

This thread and a couple of others are the only things that kept me relatively same through this mess. We Insomniacs give each other a hard time, but it is always with a lot of love.

We will be in your pocket for your DMX. That is my nephew's bday- so you have some luck on your side there!

I let both of mine go too. I did not want my healthy breast staring at me, waiting for cancer. it is a big decision, and scary. But you will get through it. It will be tough, and sad, and painful, but you will get through it. Allow yourself to grieve, get therapy, talk to us a lot.

We are all here for you.

    xoxo- jeni

welcome summer sun, like your name, sounds very uplifting.  We are a bunch of crazies! Some have been here, like forever! A few are new, everyone is excepted. We love to be in someone pocket at any given time. Right now that seems to be Tangs. We haven't heard back yet on what she found out today. Hoping all is well.

If you haven't yet, go to TE for beginners, lot of useful info. Stay away from TE troubles! It can scare the hell out of you. Have you had a chance to talk to whippetmom on implants 101? She gives great advice. Be sure to read the header.

Jwoo, are the owls your drawing? Do you sell your work? Love them.

2nd, I know. They were chocolate covered raisins, so healthy, right? Just kidding. Very aware of the calories and I was a little low today.

Chevy, you should lock up that step ladder or throw it away. Do NOT use!

Night all. I should sleep much better tonight.

    Summer Sun,

Difficult time waiting for surgery, well the whole process is a roller coaster. You have come to the right place, fantastic ladies, with knowledge & great humor.

Jwow, Jeni, is our resident young one...

Jump in anytime, generally someone is awake, or checks in. We talk about, everything.

Jwoo, great to see you posting. Hope things are calmer in your world.

2nd timer/Maddy, I have that problem on my IPAD all the time. I will get the emails for a couple of weeks, and then nothing for a month. I need to take it to the Apple Store & see if they can help me. That is unlikely ( that I can be helped with technology ) but maybe reset whatever. I loved that photo of the rock feet.

Smaarty, YEEHA on getting a PS on board to help you & your svelte new bod!

Chevster, WATCH your tiny little feet & where you are placing them. You are WAY to old to be jumping off ladders, roofs, poles....

I went to the mountains on Sunday. About a 2 hour drive north from where I live. Beautiful area, very fancy resort town. Monday golfing, I spotted a blue bird. I have not seen one in ages. It was close enough to get a good look. So beautiful....

Sas, thx for letting us know about Bluebirds health problems at the end. I will get those shots when I turn 60. I always get the flu shot, working with young kids.

Time for bed, waving hello to all....

    Susan, we miss you !

Blondie, you lurker, what's new? talk to us.....

    Tangadang......fingers & toes crossed....

Blondie- you and me both! 430-5 is when my brain finally shuts up.

Smaarty- i wish it were my work! I found that on the internet. i thought it was really pretty too.

  • Sadly I'm checking in tonight, not sure what has me sleepless tonight, but it'll make for a long day tomorrow.

Smaarty- almost forgot to congratulate you on your PS visit today! woohoo! glad you are comfortable with things now.

Holein1- your trip sounds so nice- and so great you saw a bluebird. It is nice to be reminded of good people.

Nettie- have you tried doing some stretching? that may loosen you up a bit and relax you.

  • Had an amazing day today! My modem crashed!

No, wait - that wasn't the amazing part... the good news is that 1) I'd made DH buy me a new one months ago, since mine was probably 7 years old and I kept having problems with it; and 2) I got the SWEETEST Technical Assistant at ATT who took forever to walk me through setting the new one up step by step.

The idiot salesman at Best Buy told DH all I had to do was plug it in. DUH! WRONG!

I told the tech girl that I was having problems with my modem, and she asked how old it was. When I said 7 years old, she said "Oh, my!" and went on to explain that one day it would just crash altogether.

So there we were... she was on speaker phone... I explained I had a head injury and that I might not understand things she said, and her answer was "Not a problem. Just tell me what you need."

Well, it took about 45 minutes to configure the new router/DSL unit, and coordinate it with all our wireless devices in the house, but I did it!

I took a ton of notes, and whatever she told me to do, I wrote down first for reinforcement, and I got it done.

Of course, the new one is all set up next to my keyboard... I still have to run wires through my computer hutch and behind the desk, but I think I can do that.

You have no idea what a sense of accomplishment that gave me! I still have a FEW brain cells left!!!! ThumbsUp

    Nighty-night, Sweet Owlettes!!!

    xoxoxoxoxoxo

  • Welcome SummerSun!  There's always room for one more.

Ugh, i don't know why I'm up.  I was asleep for a short time.   I'll try again after a while .

Bravo on the computer set up Blessings.  Thank goodness for my college age son.  I call him and he has it done so quickly.

Oh?????? She says I'm too old.... !
Dang! Who knew? I didn't JUMP off HIHO, I carefully stepped
backwards down on to the floor, but someone must have moved the floor ! Man, I
just shook, when I realized I didn't bite the big one!

    SUMMER!!!!!!!! So good you found
us.... You can make this your new home..! You don't even need to pay rent...
And we will help you through anything that comes up for you! A DMS??? So that
must mean double mastectomy? Okay, I don't know nothin' about
    that.....

But I know a lot of other things.... just not anything
    important!

    2222222222nd... I don't have a clue
about YOUR problem either! So did you google flickering screen? I know Chrome,
AOL and IE work completely different, when trying to get to the same Web-site...
And whether each browser will let you post pictures or not. Drives me
    crazy..... er.

We can't talk about computer stuff, because this is too
hard on Cammi.... We have to be gentle with
    her.

    Morning little jeni JWOW!
    Yes,
you were talking about Summer's DMX..... You
know if I had it to do over again, maybe I would have gone for that too, but at
my age, there aren't THAT many people who get to see me without my clothes
anymore, so I would maybe think differently.  But I don't think I would get them rebuilt...  scare my DH 1/2 to death if I looked normal.

Summer, I just had a Lumpectomy, because that's what was
suggested by my younger gal Doctor's. I think they felt sorry for me, because
of my ancient-ness... Ha! But I'm almost 5 years out now, so we MUST have done
    something right.

    Okay, miss Smartypants.... See, she,
meaning YOU are assuming that SOME of us have been here forEVER, meaning "some"
of us might be a tad older than some, but the truth IS... well, YES, that is
correct, but us older ones have to keep the younger ones in tow.... they tend
to get a bit flighty, and un-manageable. So that's why WE are
    around.

Morning miss Blondiebabe! And oh HEY
    JWOW!
WTH is an IOS device? So I don't know if I'm having issues
with it or not.... I might be... ?

No.... I HAD trouble trying to "ACTIVATE" A dang GoPHONE
from Walmart that uses AT&T as the service provider.... But the tech, that
I could barely understand had problems trying to do it too! Finally
got it going, but didn't work the next DAY!

I called AT&T back... I was pi$$ed. THIS gal tried
again, finally came to the conclusion, that "when I picked it up from customer
service online orders, someone didn't "scan" it right!!!" Can you believe THAT
excuse! I was pi$$ed. That is not even feasible much less
possible.  It is MY luck, that every tech I talk to sounds like they are in a room full of crazies, and they canNOT speak English enough for ME to understand!

So I said in a not so friendly tone, "let's all forget
this, I am going to take the thing BACK, because no-one can figure this out,
and I will get a TRACPHONE, which is what I wanted in the first place, and NOT
sign up with no damn AT&T for a monthly charge of $25 for minutes we will
    never USE!" Quote, unquote.

So she connected me to a supervisor, who DID credit my
account, even though she said they do not do refunds.... I would have climbed
through that phone, if she said no.

You know gals, people should think twice before fooling
around with a Senior type person as I am! It's hard enough just to WALK without
getting us riled up over some damn stupid phone!

I just wanted it for DH, because he NEEDS one when he is
walking by himself, like he does, and if an emergency comes up, like say if he
is staring at some young thing, and falls on his face, he could CALL me.... so
then I could go find him and beat the chit out of him.

OMG BLESSINGS!!!!!!!!!! I was just busy bashing
    AT&T,
and hear you got a GOOD one? A good Tech? Those are few
    and far between!!!

And with your head and all????? See
girl? You really ARE good! Isn't it a PITA?

I'll give a hug to your brain
    cells....

Morning Dutchess... I know, I know....
I'm the only one up.... I'm also the only one that goes to bed at a normal time,
and wakes up with the birds.

Okay .... guess if there is no-one to talk to, I'll go do
    something else.... xoxoxoxo

  • I may whine and complain at times, but ultimately, I always get back up!!

    image

  • OMG Chevy, you made me actually laugh out loud about Dh falling on his face.  Still laughing as I write this.  Feels so good to laugh.  I'm 71, so probably one of the more senior gals here.  Been having some pain since last night in my sternum area and wondering if it's the neulasta I took last week the day after chemo.  Just hoping the A/C isn't affecting my heart.  Why do I always go to the worst possible senario.  Guess I just have a really strong worry gene.  Ouch.  Love,  Jean

PS Had a great day shopping with my grandaughter for maternity clothes, yesterday.   (For her not me!)  Teehee

  • Whew!! I wuz gittin worried here!

    Where is Cammi?

  • good morning ladies.

Welcome summer.  Just jump in and post often. I also had both breast removed even though only right side had cancer. For me i didn't want to take a chance for it to come back on the other side since I have seen several friends go thru that. I also liked the symmetry of both being gone. I could go bra less often without feeling lopsided. My mom had only 1 removed and was never happy feeling lopsided. I also hoped it would make for a better looking reconstruction. Different strokes for different folks, right ?  I can say doing the bilateral mastectomy then later the bilateral reconstruction def made it a much more painful recovery.  Hope you hang around.  It is usually much busier in here. Been kinda quiet lately.

Mo said my tumor marker count went up again but barely (65 to 73 ).  They did increase my synthroid. I haven't had an increase in over 2 years. Hoping that will help with a few issues I have been having ; so very very tired could sleep 24 hours a day , migraines returned (  used to have then a lot but not since starting synthroid ) , forgetfulness and body aches everywhere.  Oh yeah and super grumpy for no reason.

Hello to all. Hope y'all have a great day.

    Hootie hoo
