The funniest Thanksgiving card that ever existed was a triplicate my Mom sent out one year... wish I kept it.

Heny Penny says Happy Thanksgiving! (picture of happy chicken)

Ducky Lucky says Happy Thanksgiving! (picture of happy ducky)

Turkey Lurky says go to hell! (angry turkey!)

Hubby told me last night that a new kitty will be my birthday present. As much as he makes me nuts, my hubby is the best at picking up my spirits. He said we should always remember Charcoal by putting his ornaments on the tree every year. Going to have to start an ornament collection for the new furbaby so it won't feel left out.

Ha, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I love the cartoons! Momom, I made ornaments from little photo's! Just cut out any photo with those cute craft scissors, put glue around the edges, and roll in glitter... then with a needle & thread, poke a hole, and hang with the thread on the tree. You can cut them into hearts, or ovals..

OMD Teka! I READ about all of the storm you guys are getting! Are you hunkered down, and just hibernating? I'll never post my puny snow pictures again! Ha!

Chevy, Buffalo always get's it bad b/c of the Lake Erie affect. So, does the east Cleveland- Akron area. But not as bad as that east side of Lake Erie. Buffalo was on the news yesterday talking about how they were ready.

A school in MN has provided all their students with laptops with school connection. They discussed how there would be no more snow days LOL.  Awhh, they were the funest days.

In the post yesterdaythat Ilost, I mentioned about doing a split screen with 8.1. Are you doing it.

Mommy, Yay, such a sweet guy. Think of getting the kitty from a kill shelter versus a no kill shelter. We have one of each in our area within miles of each other. Sad for the kill shelter cats and dogs. The no kill animals live very well.

Rose very happy you found Warm and Fuzzies :). Do you want to visit my Constipation thread LOL?

Blondie, honey did you try any of the things in the topic box? Are you still rhoiding? The rhoids are such sleep killers. Sorry, you can't sleep.

We're going to go back to the same shelter that we had gotten Charcoal from.

Gonna go get the dough for my rolls for Thanksgiving started in a few minutes. Just gotta drag out the bread maker and make room on the counter for it.

Teka- I lived 3 years as a kid in Fairport NY, a burb of Rochester. Then I lived 2 years in Rochester going to school. I remember moving into my school apartment after 32 inches of snow fell in 48 hours! I felt like a mouse tunneling through snow, moving furniture into the upper floor apt of an old house. It was fun back then, but even as a kid I got sick of shoveling mountains of snow and driving in white out conditions at time. Like turning off your lights so you can see better... skidding on black ice under the snow. I will boast that after years of living there I can drive in anything with very little fear. (It also helps that I had 2 room mates one from Buffalo and the other from Minn. and they took me on practice runs in the parking lot of skidding and getting out of it! Lots of fun... and useful! Before their tutoring I was pretty much like the Hoston cartoon above - OMG A snow flake! ACKKKK!" Stay warm ya'll!

Momof2- lucky you a Christmas kitty! Make Charcoals collar a tree ornament! We all want pictures. Love kittens. We fostered some for our no kill shelter, until we got a liter of the ugliest kittens EVER! They were torties and looked like burn victims, black/ orange mottled. Tiny left in a box on street corner. Then they all got ring worm and we all got ring worm and my one cat got ring worm. All these meds and trying to bathe and give the kittens all these meds! We stopped fostering kitties. We surely enjoyed them.. loved watching them play! They boxed each other and bounced and ambushed each other hilarious! Everyone of those ugly little kittens got a home. YAY!

Good news Spookie!! It always feels better when you can shower unhindered.

Mommy, Did you have special ornaments for Charcoal? We used to have a bunch of those silk balls for the bottom of the tree. Only one of our cats climbed the tree. I have photos of most of our foster cats. The ones of the kittens aren't very good. One was medium hair and the others were all black with short hair. We had ribbons on them to tell them apart.

    • So I've been eyeing this little "green-house" in the alley for the last week! THIS time, I drove home, walked back up and brought that darned thing back home with ME! It was on it's side, and only needs a little re-enforcing at the bottom, but now I have my own green-house... FREE!
    • I can get into more trouble in the alley here.... Ha!
    • The front flap zips open, abnd then you tie it up at the top! I looked for this picture, and found it on Amazon.... I am so resourceful
I'm so sorry you Floridians about that cold weather...!!! Geez, it almost makes me feel terribly! Ha! I SAW where they were expecting that temp in your parts! Just stay warm.... make a Walmart run, buy some sweat pants and shirts! Drink lots of hot tea and wine!

Attempting to catch up here. I've been doing a Bible study on Tuesdays so Sundays/Mondays I've spent working on that. Yesterday was the last day. Went out for a yummy lunch with the group.

Spookie - I agree that was not a nice birthday. Is there just a day place you can run away to? Some exhibit you've wanted to see, museum, shopping but maybe more window shopping. YAY for getting cast off.

I certainly hope nobody on here is buried in NY snow. Have Weather Channel on watching the dig out. Not as warm as Spookie but we have mid 60s today.

Meow - about the ringworm. Try OTC foot fungus spray powder. A bit easier on the skin. Old fashioned remedy for dogs was iodine. Just noticed my grocery has the non-colored again. Was looking for some new kind of skin salve. DH and I both have cracked open fingertips. His from his work environment, mine from washing hands so much around the house.

JWoo - that is one serious place for a wedding. Nothing like that to match here in the USA.

Yes Chevy/Cami about this chit cold weather. Any hope January might be warmer? Yes I'm delusional.

OO yes Sassy eczema. DH has it off/on on his lower legs. Has good dermatologist; prescribed that wonderful stuff clobetasol. I had some kind of breakout on my lower spine, bumpy itchy. Couple days of that cleared it right up. Great stuff but he uses it sparingly. Do you have any suggestions for cracked fingertips? My solution is bandaids/neosporin. Only trouble is even Bandaid brand strips don't stick much anymore. I used to be able to wear one all day, get it wet which is by far the best treatment out there, keeping it damp.

Momof2 - I told DH to get prepared. My rat terrier will be 8 in January. We will be getting another dog before she is gone. I don't know what but not another terrier. Tired of her skin problems/allergies. Would hate to think what a real purebred terrier has geesh. I've had a rescue chow mix puppy. That dog had issues. DH says no more rescues. This dog came from a real live home, met parents, dogs were in and out. She had a few puppies but certainly no puppy mill. Would maybe like a poodle-ly mix maybe (?less shedding). I could certainly clip it myself with all the trimming equip. I have. Know the right cat is out there for you.

Sorry Blessings but that cat ain't comin' in my house. We had raccoon poop all over the place too earlier in the year. Have a few possums but more skunks than anything. Yuck. Something is still living under my little storage house/hay barn.

Patty - I was reading a blog I get in my email The Simple Dollar. About lowering your hear during the day to 55 or 60 degrees I could not put on enough clothes for that temp. Talk about the Michelin Man I wouldn't be able to walk, toilet myself or wash my hands. We have it on 68 which keeps it around 66 in most rooms. But the sun is out today yay. I told DH not sure how much longer I can tolerate this "68" temp. I'm going to "town" on Monday and plan on looking for a heated throw like yours. Been hoarding the 20% off coupons from Bed,Bath,Beyond. Also will check WallyWorld. Oh yes summer to winter. Arkansas weather must be just like Texas weather. HaHa.

Yay for the clear mammo Chevy. My annual is the end of January.

Oh yes DH is the dog bather for now. Shoulders hurting too much to even think about it. I might if I could use the doggy pool outside. If I can get it to warm up we might this weekend. Expecting some severe weather - no not the white stuff kind.

So true Mema about Dallas drivers. Do you watch Channel 8 Pete Delkus - I love the "time to stock up on bread/milk" talks he gives with bad weather. That and his "govern yourself accordingly". But then again I've never driven anywhere much else besides Texas so what do I know about ice/snow?

Chevy - You definitely have a knack for alley shopping even in those heels and while pole dancing.

    Winking

    Looks great.

  • OMG! The storm hit here during the night! It was actually sprinkling when DH went out to get the paper this morning. I'm sure we got at least 1/16 of an inch of rain.... and it's only 68 degrees right now. Don't worry about us... we'll make it somehow, even if I have to find a sweater to put on.

    Loopy

On another note - how many of you have done this? I haven't quite gone so far, but I have been known to scream "SHUT UP!!! TAKE IT OUTSIDE!!!" and give the person stinkeye until they did. (We've all had our share of waiting room experiences.)

You are not going to believe this video. It's for real !!!! Be prepared for being just speechless. If you are offended by poo humor don't watch.

It's an actual product you can buy.

  • LMG - I have no problem telling loud cell phone talkers to shut up - especially in inappropriate places. And in the doctor's waiting room, where there is a LARGE SIGN saying "Turn Your Cell Phone Off" I make sure the Receptionist reinforces the rules, or I ask to speak to the Manager. (Of course, this does not apply to me, playing Candy Crush Saga on my iPad with the sound off...)

Once, standing in a horribly long line for Radiology, that didn't move at all, we were all treated to a sizzling diatribe from a young man on crutches. He was whining to his friend on his cell phone about how he had to wait effin' forever for this stupid effin' Xray and that the stupid b*tc# at the front desk wasn't even doing her job.... and I think his friend must have been in China, because he was yelling really loud.

So, after several minutes of loud sighs and rolled eyeballs amongst us prisoners, I finally walked up to him and told him to either SHUT THE HE## UP, OR GET OUT OF LINE AND TAKE HIS STUPID CONVERSATION WITH HIM. I said that cell phones were prohibited, and that we were all sick of listening to him. He started to give me grief, then looked around at the angry mob (who would have been carrying flaming torches if they were available) and decided otherwise. He put his phone away. I thanked him. For that, I got a round of applause from the entire waiting room!

    Winking

Rosevalley - I love these commercials! Here is the direct hyperlink: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKLnhuzh9uY

I know this is a real product because they sell it in the hospital gift shop!

I think you can say just about anything - even "pinch off a loaf" and it will sound so cute if it's in an English accent!!!

Chevy, We have a greenhouse like that and really like it. It's great for putting plants outside to harden before planting. Or to keep tropical plants in so they can have some summer outside.

Luv, There's a TV station here that sends out reporters in LL Bean parks at the first snowflake. We like to turn off the sound and watch how silly they are. I'm surprised they don't roast in those parkas.

When I was a kid in Oklahoma, we had a blizzard with wind. It completely covered the front of our house. My Dad and Uncle climbed out of a back bedroom window and shoveled a path to the front door. Our city had no snow plows so we got a week off school. It was deep enough to cut blocks for igloos. Lots of fun for the kids. I'm sure it wasn't for the grownups because no one could go anywhere including to get groceries.

Hootie hootie, to all owlettes. Life is wonderful. Sitting is divine

Rose, Yay Jan. --In the 2nd last post that I lost, my note to you talked about an absolutely fun restaurant on A1A south of Augustine at or just north of Palm Coast. Looks like a Deliverance place. You can even wonder when you walk through the door. But the menu is gourmet. Prices aren't. Behind the evergreen wall across the street is apparently a VERY exclusive community. Tiger Woods is a patron. That was the only name dropped when we asked to talk to the Chef, they had three. LOL, not cooks--chefs. Usually four but one was away at culinary school. Spookie can come and stay here and we will drive to meet you. If not convenient, I will drive to see you if you go to Tampa, and Spookie is there :) Jan. is ugly to us and beautiful to the  cold world   :)

Spookie, just shy of 21 days if I count right, unusual for cast off in three weeks, but they must be happy with it YAY---you are wearing a brace. Bet the trigone was an area involved. I did that once, bugger. Baby it :) Weather here cold, but beautiful skies. Yesterday ugly and raining. Willing to go either north to see Rose or to Tampa. You are welcome to stay here overnight or a couple of days :) Rose Yoohoo you can come too. I tell DBF to bunk in else where and we can do a girls thing. You can enjoy the pool, while Spookie and I just enjoy you. :)

Chevy, you TRAMP, I'll say the same as Littlegoats--Pole dancing and Alley Collecting. Go Girl-----How much was the greenhouse on Amazon. Your thingy even had the plastic thingy. Dh picked up a perfectly salvageable table at curbside for DS at the end of his first year. Butcher block top white legs. A bit of sanding for the top and polyurethane-washing and paint for the legs--like new :) Then at the SPCA thrift at the dumpster were chairs--even the thrift wouldn't take them. Did the same with the chairs. Cleaning, paint & urethane, and off to University. The table lasted his entire 6 years in apartments. The chairs only lasted 4.

Cami sending LOVE sweetie. You aren't posting like you used too. Know you are working , but I worry with all the polypharmacy. Hope Katy-Kat and Joey are good :)

LMG, Never told you I love your posts-- I do. Like Chevy, Cami when she can, 2nd, and Jwoo- you, also, catch everyone pretty well. On the eczema thing. I'm partial to Bag Balm(BB). Started use with my Brit with her first of two littersin 1982 and 83. Then it was only sold in hardwares and feed stores. I used it while I was nursing DS. DH was aghast at first request--"You're Not using that on MY son"-1984. When he went to the pharmacy for the suggested pure lanolin(very good) that was behind their counter, the Pharmacist said I have something even better---he brought out BB. Susan will drop in and go ehweeeee it smells. LOL, when I can smell it does stink. But it works well. Try a warm water soak first, softens the cracks-soak for twenty to thirty minutes. I used a plastic container -deep enough for both hands that easily sat on my lap.  Then apply the BB or pure lanolin as soon as you pat dry. Rub in gently for several minutes. Way better than steroids. But if it's eczema, use vinegar to soak and then rinse with clear water for a couple of minutes. Avoid soaps. I know crazy to say to a nurse. But I have concluded, God wants me too learn a different path from orthodox medicine by having to go to the severe of scenarios without response. AND then my survival mode kicks in with developing a different plan than orthodox. Much includes treatments of decades ago and some are creative LOL.  Found and incredible web site that incorporates orthodox and the old treatments. Won't risk losing post as I did with the last two. I'll post then go and get the link.

Blessings--I would have loved to see Jane Curtain and Gilda Radner  as Rosesanna-rosanna Dana do that skit. Loved Johnny Carson, but couldn't catch him much with working. One night Gilda was on and they talked about some of her characterizations she used. She credited the tone of RD to her Grandmother. They called her from the show. Her Gram talked just like Roseanna. The audience lost it when Gram said  "Never Mind" . Priceless. :)

Peppersweet, totally have taken your advice. The lights aren't my colors, but have chosen to embrace them b/c they are fun. Oh so thanks, for putting your thought in my head. Everytime I looked at them in the last few days, I thought of what you said. :)

Thyroid: Ultrasound & bloodwork tomorrow.-----Total care for complications of stupid thyroid and eczema complication of thyroid is about 3-4 friggen hours a day. But not praying to die as I was ---x amount of days ago. Stupid thyroid. BUT I can sit for longer periods of time without feeling like I'm on a steelwire brush YAY. Probably way TMI. An ERROR on my part was to stop the soaks of summer.  I did a twofer-----swim exersize and the water soaks which by literature research was recommended- that's why I was swimming. Stopped swimming b/c of the rains of September. Things went to a hell in a hand basket for multiple reasons. Er,  sex was a factor. I'm 64. So many people aren't comfortable with talk of women of Age having fun or liking sex.

LOL , in Jan last year I went to a GU doc about the two stones I passed. In his history questioning he said "Well we can bypass the sexual activity" And I said "No we can't etc.". It was so cute, he went back to the demographics page( I know the drill), he was checking my age.

I did two things on the day I was praying to die or go to Oregon. One I won't relate here( I will on the skin thread), but the other was- I am doing tub soaks daily. That whole ritual is about an hour +, and incorporating the rituals post Rai-131. That has done a turn around. Plus a change in the thyroid med usage. Er - and no sex- bummed

Within seconds of the moment of praying to die----I had an inspiration of what to do. It was totally unorthodox. It worked. A prayer answered.
