Yeah, we stopped by to see my friend this morning.... She was in the Physical therapy room, getting movement and working on this bicycle type arm movement thing, connected with something like a tens-unit.... something to stimulate her nerves in her right leg and arm? They said she is a lot better, but couldn't open her right hand yet, to let it go.... But she will....

Her Son wrote and said he found her out by the water faucet.... and had been there for hours.... but I know it could have been worse.... Found out her Fiance' goes there every morning.... And her Son goes every afternoon.... So she has company..... I'm just glad I can talk to him, and ask how she is doing.... but maybe soon she can find the words to talk again.....

Going to go fool around in the yard! Have a great Sunday gals!

jwoo - I really like your new avatar, and the pics with the baby are so cute! So awesome that you do hospice volunteering.

Patty- I'm glad you are back and that you feel good.

Blondie - so good to hear that you get the care you need. Let us know how it goes.

Jazzy - I'm so envious that you got to see Bill Maher! We lived in LA for 15 years and somehow we never got around to seeing him do standup or go to a show taping! My DH keeps saying we should go see him before we move to SC but with everything going on I have a feeling that'll have to wait (again :) and I can totally relate on the purging topic - I have stuff in boxes that's been with us for the last 3 moves! It has to go! Ummmm...I guess I'll start tomorrow....,

Chevy - sorry to hear about your friend's stroke. It depends very much how much of the brain is involved, the level of medical care and the general health of the person suffering the stroke. But I know of people who have recovered very well.

Everybody else- warm hello from Long Beach! Thishas been my 'good' week (no chemo) so I rushed to do everything I needed before the next chemo (which is tomorrow). I just found out that my sister who lives in England will come to visit me for 2 weeks in June, and I'm super excited about it!!! I have no family in the States (except for my DH side of the family which are all awesome but live on the east coast) so that will be a very nice time!

Ibgal- I have wanted to see him for awhile now. I got watching his show on HBO pretty faithfully the past few years. I will tell you, he not only makes you laugh but makes you think about this from a very different perspective.

When I saw he was coming here, I jumped on the tix in January. Not a sold out show, but about 80% full I think. I hope you get to see him sometime! Your sides will hurt from laughing so much!

Working in the back yard and gardens today. Got some clouds and rumbling stuff moving in. We have had some spot T-storms which is unusual for May here, but we will always take the rain.

Hope everyone else is having a good Sunday.

Would love to work in the garden today, but allergy is bad. Every time I sneeze, the tissue expander pokes my armpit. Ouch! So am staying indoor and lounge around enjoying my garden from the inside.

Jwoo, adorable baby. Must be really rewarding to volunteer for hospice

Mommy, LOL regarding your mum. Family knows how to push our buttons. How is your healing coming along? You had both sides done right? My PS said that I will need a longer time for recovery with my native side(right) which will be augmented to match the reconstructive side. I am right handed so my patience will be tested.

Loveroflife- I like to say family likes to push buttons because in the end, they were the ones that made them to start!

rose - sounds like a perfect day

I had a great visit with my niece and her friends. Nothing like being around young people (21) to feel invincible. They def raised my spirits. No pain all day and I made it with just a very short nap. Woohoo feeling better everyday !

Rose- those fish tacos sound yummy. I will be right over.

Patty- I met a very youthful 80 year old man a few years back that I would have guessed was at 20 years younger. I asked him what he thought the secret was to longevity and staying fit and sharp as one ages? He said always have younger people in your life, be it children, grandchildren, friends kids, neices and nephews.

Sounds like you had a lovely day!

Loveroflife - yes, it is my DD2 who had the yeast trouble and is the Junior in HS. Hope you had fun yesterday with the piano recital and swimming. Sorry your DD is having tummy troubles. Mine is prone to those, too...she is gluten and dairy free and if she eats one of those, then she doesn't feel well. She felt good about her SAT yesterday and is glad it is over with! Good luck to your DD on hers and on her AP tests. Mine will take AP English, but I'm not sure of the date yet. My allergies have been bad here, too...can't wait for the weather to be more consistently warm and for all the pollen to disappear so they will get better!

Jazzy - congrats on all that housecleaning! I had fun today going through one of the boxes my friend brought me from my parent's house. I actually found my birth certificate from the hospital! There were some cards I made and drawings I did when I was little as well as a lot of school papers and report cards. I threw away almost all of the school papers, but have to go through the more personal things a little closer. We are really trying to get rid of a lot of stuff here, too.

Patty - so glad you had a fun visit with your niece and her friends!!

DH and I put some film stuff (can't remember what it is called) on two of our windows at the front of the house so now it is frosted when you look out of them. We're hoping it will keep the dogs from being so nutty when they see something outside. It seemed to be helping today, if that continues they we will put it on the two living room windows, too.

Looking forward to DD1's college graduation on Friday! Hard to believe she's already done!

    Goodnight, all!

okay call made........should be a given evaluation in stroke........regretfully can be missed or not explained

Not knew knowledge. Has been known about for decades.

If not explained to all contacts, creates a horrible isolation

Please follow through on the writing thing.

Amazing to see the reaction when they know they can communicate.

Mel, We put a one way film on a living room window that had a bird feeder. The birds saw themselves and not the cat watching from inside. Now we have a feeder farther away and don't have to use the film.

So far my recovery is going fine. Had a bit of a scare Friday when my adorable kitten decided to play "let's take my collar off and make mommy chase me around the house to put it back on me" and I walked into the bedroom door with my left side. Was very worried that something was wrong after that, but so far it doesn't seem like I did any damage.

Gotta take the comforter off the bed now that it gets too warm at night to have it on there. We even turned off the heat because overnights here will in the 40s and 50s. Maybe next weekend, we can take the cold weather curtains down and bring out the warm weather clothes.

SHE DID CALL!!! That girl gets something on her mind, and she will ACT on it immediately! Hah! So here, I mean there I was in a sound sleep, like MOST normal women, and the phone rings like at MIDNIGHT!!!! Or almost! And there is bright and Sassy SASS! Good Lord I hardly even knew my NAME at that hour!

I sit there listening to her explain what is going on with Carol, and am happy she called, but Sass honey, can you make it a tad earlier, like maybe normal hours like when it's light out?

Okay I looked it up.... I didn't even remember the name you said! But you said it again here! She definately has receptive aphasia! She knows exactly what we are saying, but her words just don't come out right yet... I read articles on both types...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expressive_aphasia

I don't really know her Son well enough to go asking him all these questions, but he emails me every morning now... He said she has a new room-mate, and she doesn't like her! I wrote "So ask her if she wants me to go beat the chit out of her!" And to go walk around in all the other rooms and find some nice looking guy, and ask him if he wants a new room-mate, and MOVE her!

So he said she is even speaking better last night! Carol is not one to keep quiet if she doesn't like something... I can just see, or hear her, haveing to put up with someone in worse shape than her....! She'll make herself get up and go out to the nurses station, and tell THEM what she wants!

Hi1 - which big city are you in ? Well hope you enjoy your visit wherever you are

Mommy 2 - glad you are recovering

Chevy - you are such a dear friend. Your friends are lucky to have you.

Jazzy - love the 80 year old mans advice. I agree !

Mel - what a cool find - your birth certificate and all of your old schoolwork , etc. Congrats to your dd1 and you for college grad Friday. Are you having a big party afterwards ?

    SAS - hello and hugs

I had a great weekend. Have felt better than I have in almost 2 years. It's super hard not to overdo it. Of course , we women , want to go from 0 to 1000 the first minute we start to do well. I am trying hard not to do that this time. A little at a time still gets stuff done and I am not wiped out.

Hope everyone has a great pain free day. Hugs all around

Patty- so glad to hear you are feeling well. To say this is the best you have felt in 2 years and with all you have gone through recently is HUGE! Glad to hear it!

Mommy- I heard them saying this on the news this morning and then saw that on FB and thought it was cute!

Hope everyone is having a good day. Just got my car back from the mechanic for the third time around a transmission leak. This last time I told them "you are fixing this next one for free!" I watched as five men stood looking under my car telling me there was no leak and said "keep looking" and then someone found it. I thought all five of them were going to cry. Men hate to be wrong around anything with cars, especially when a woman is involved. Watching them eat crow was almost worth it. Almost. Fingers crossed things stay "dry" under there. I will be watching.....

Don't you love it when that happens!!!! That's one of the reasons I liked buying my cars from Saturn. They didn't talk down to me, acknowledged I had a brain!! I bought 3, DD still has hers.

Spookie- unfortunately, these people are the only ones in town (dealer) that can fix this car. They used to be really good, but they have NOT been good the past few years and sat down with the manager of service and told him as much. They finally got a new service guy who seems to know what he is doing and worked hard to make this right for me. I don't have this problem with my other car (primary vehicle).

The good news is I went an peaked outside under the car and it DRY! I love this little convertible and want to keep it, but you know as time goes on, we have to decide if things are worth it.

Mommy- what class are you taking on line?

Wrenn - very clever idea to use the film so the birds wouldn't be scared of the cats! I must say, it seemed to work like a charm today...DH works from home and he said the dogs didn't even bark when the garbage men came through the neighborhood! They also didn't bark when I came home until I opened the garage door...usually I can see them through the window and can hear lots of barking from the time I get in the driveway until I get in the house. Our next plan is to put a barrier up along the fence on one side of the yard where the neighbor has two dogs. Our dogs are getting better and better at coming away from the fence when, but there are still times when they get so engaged with the neighbor dogs that it is hard to get their attention to bring them away from the fence. My right shoulder has been hurting me a lot and Saturday when I had to catch my chugg as she was running along the fence line it pulled my shoulder. I told DH he is going to have to be on dog catching duty because I just can't do it!

Patty - thanks for the congrats on the graduation!! We are not having a big party since DD isn't coming home right after graduation and she actually has not kept up with anyone from HS where we live now (we only moved here when she started HS). My parents are traveling to the graduation, too, so we will do some celebrating in Wilmington by going out to eat and DD wants to have some pictures taken at the beach in her cap and gown. We're hoping for nice weather! It was definitely very cool to find my birth certificate and I read one of my poems to my DD2 today. I will share with you ladies...these were written by a 10 year old me:

    1. Boys, boys, Yech! Yech! Boys are muck, muck! (probably meant "yuck" and spelled it wrong)

    2. Ouh! Ouh! Boys are glue!

    3. Gunk! Gunk! Boys are junk!

I was mad at the boys in school...can you tell??? LOL!!!

    Loopy

Jazzy - when my transmission fluid was changed a few years back it caused it to leak afterwards and I had to go back a second time. When I had my oil changed recently they said I needed to have the transmission serviced because it hadn't been done before. I thought it had since I remembered the leak..sure enough, their mistake, it had been done. Glad I didn't tell them to go ahead and do it while I was there for the oil change since it doesn't need it yet. Am getting some coolant stuff done and hoping it will go well. Hey - you can borrow some of my poems if you want and say them about the guys at your service station!!

Mommy - sounds like your cat is messing with you like my dog is messing with me!! Hang in there!! Have fun with your online class!

I am so ticked off right now. When I leave a message for my doctor, I want that message sent to the doctor and some strange twist of my message. Now I believe I have just had unnecessary labwork and still won't have an answer. I guess I will have to write things out and hand deliver it. Grrr.

Jazzy - glad you set the mech straight and more importantly got the leak fixed. Go girls !

Patty, it's so uplifting to hear you are feeling much better. And on top of that, Rose had a wonderful day at pinic with the family.

Ms. Chevy, Ms. Carol sounds like a feisty woman and I hope this feistiness will help her fight her battle.

Mel, the poem is so cute. Priceless to have stuffs from grade school to go through. My daughter broke out in hives today. Not sure if it's the stress from AP chem test today or the melons she ate yesterday. Poor child was complaining she was so itchy during the exam.

Mommy, OUCH !!! Your Princess is one naughty child or is it clumsy mom?

Gotta put my big girl pants on and get my mind energy back so I can kick their butts. Wish me luck....actually I will prob watch my hubby fight them, but still wear my big girl pants...lol

    Sleep well all
