Sounds like it's the time for meetups! Beatmon and I are having lunch together Thursday! I'm taking her to my favorite Mexican place, the one I told y'all about. Pictures will follow. (Maria will take some of us!)
  • Smaarty, that's a shame about the tree. I still miss my Scotch pine that died a few years ago. It had the windswept look, like it was on top of a mountain somewhere. Very picturesque.

Susan, looks like you and Queen had a good time!

Jazzy, I never imagined NM having fall foliage. Gorgeous!

We definitely need an online party for Spookie's birthday!

Loverly, I've seen those coffee makers in Japanese video games. They are a staple of escape games, where you have to find all the pieces to the coffee maker, assemble it, heat some water, make some coffee, and then the steam will reveal a number that's the combination to a lock or something like that. Funny to see a real one after seeing so many drawings.

    Mags, Mexican food? I'm jealous.

Susan, I was right about Queenie! Queenie, don't read what I am going to write next. When someone talks above my IQ level, I usually pretend that I understand and respond by saying "hmmmm....interesting" and hope that they won't ask me for my opinion ( don't worry Cubbie me understood what you said above).

  • Lol y'all are a trip for an early morning read.

I try to stay out of here in the middle of the night or early morning or I'd never sleep.

Hope all are well and enjoy the day! I am so jealous of all the meet ups :) But so happy a lot of you are getting to do that. That's just really cool.

Serves me right for going to sleep around an "Insomniacs" list!

Susan: bathing suits on the beach it is, then, the next time you come through town. (and I do hope there will be a next time) I promise not to talk about Independence Hall, if you promise to not come next in January. Going down to exit 27 isn't necessarily shorter than getting off at 23. but it's way less confusing.

Spookie: Oh, OK--restrictive HOA covenants are like that.

Jazzy: (shyly) I'm the 12th of November.

so, our front lawn (dirt) now. I guess now is a good time to maybe not put a lawn back in because of the drought. Wasn't expecting it to be so large.

Or my Grandma just used to boil a pot of water, throw in coffee-grounds, and simmer for a minute... then a shot of cold water would make the grounds sink to the bottom... THAT was the best tasting coffee!

We had one just like this, when we would go camping!

Yes, those all look familiar. My aunt had a toaster where you had to push the side down and turn the toast over to cook on the other side. She was a pro with it.

What am I? The oldest one here? Yes, we had one of those toasters... when you opened the "door" the toast flipped over, then you toasted the other side!

My Grandma had one of these.... You just set it over the flame, and it toasted your bread... You could "toast" 4 slices at a time!

Yes, Susan. Mine think I am smart too. Hahaha. They were surprised when I told them I was placed in Special Ed class when I first started school here in the States (5th grade). The only time I was with the "normal kids" was during math lessons- the only time I felt smart because I already knew what was taught. Few English words I knew were hello, hi, hamburger, and hotdog.

Those are neat toasters. Brougth back the memory of the coal iron and stove. I still remember how my Grand Auntie made popcorn. She would put the corn kernelsin the wok-like pan filled with sand and placed it over the coal stove. She also let me try ironing-- it was the first and last time. Don't remember whose garment I created several holes

Loverly, Did she put the popcorn on top of the sand? How did you get the sand out?

Chevy, We may be the oldest on this thread, but you're only older by a couple of years, I think.
