    Hi Ladies!

Don't have time for individual shout outs but just know I am thinking of all of you who have challenging things going on in your lives from itching rashes to chemo woes. Love to you all.

Me, same old thing. Aromasin is still kicking my petootie and I am waiting until I see my MO on the 17th to see what to do.

xoxox Keep the faith! And Sab, good luck in the new job!

Kate - He might let you slide. Never know. That would be wonderful but 3 more treatments and you are done!!! That is such good news. You have been such a trooper. I really think getting out and away from the house is a big plus. Especially where you live. I would be in the streets all the time. Here not so much. I do feel better when I get out. Today I went to the store just for some fruit because I don't eat much fruit. It bothers my stomach.  Even though I was feeling a little spinning going on I went anyway. It was nice just to get out. It is cool here now. Mostly the 70s and down to 50s at night.

Cindy - What is a hazzard suit?

Ring some bells:  I AM NOT SCRATCHING!  My legs still look ghastly but I am not digging at them and I'm able to think about other things!  I think this rash will just very slowly clear.  I see my MO next Monday--and my RO works in that clinic sometimes, so I'll grab her if I can--and BS next Wednesday (9/11) for check-ups, and I'll ask them to look at it and get it on the record.  But I am about ready to declare victory over the worst of it.  Thank you ALL for your patience, advice, and support through this Season of Most Vexing Itches!  Bunkie, I really think you are a hero for withstanding the steroids for so long and I can see why you are pushing so hard to get off them.  They are just weird-making.  The metallic/chemical taste is quite unpleasant and that's just one thing.

Kate, bravo to you on your 14th chemo!  You are rocking that warrior coat once again.  I hope you and your doctor are in harmony about the rest of the chemo, especially the last long one.  And I hope your guts are working better--that is really hard to take.

Janis, I can't believe you tried Zumba with your bum knee, and I can't believe you did 56% of it!  When I tried it this summer, and I went four times, I would not say I got more than about 15% of it.  I'm a runner because all I can do is go straight ahead.  I'm so amazed at people who can do things like Zumba--you too Cindy!  Janis, I hope you get some good answers about your knee and your neck and any other joints that are bothering you.

Cindy, sounds like some big lifestyle changes for Mr. Strawberry Milkshake.  (I wonder if he was quaking in his boots as you drove up to the drive-through!)  You are taking great care of him and sounds like you're able to do things for yourself too.  Good luck to you both.  For better and for worse, right?

April, great hearing from you!  So sorry you're still having so much trouble with the Aromasin, darn it.

Cindy, so glad to hear from you .Wish you were doing better on your Aromasin.

Bunkie we had a slight cool down but it will still be in the 90s by the weekend again. It was over 100 degrees the other day but we had some severe thunderstorms Sat and Sunday and then the temps cooled down.

Kate I missed your misty recent post so I hope all goes well.

Cindy sounds like your a good nurse.Hope your hubby will change his ways.

    Hope I didn't miss anyone.

I had kind of a weepy day today. My friend is at the end stages of her lung disease and has decided to go on hospice in her son's home. She seems ok with it but I selfishly don't want to let her go yet.My son and I had a little talk tonight he admitted when he said in his writing that he could see opportunities daily to hurt himself He said sometimes if he is cutting something with a knife he imagines himself hurting himself with it.He said it just a fleeting thought. It's enough for me.We will get him some help soon.Just waiting on the paper work from psychiatrist.

Haha Runfree-I often think running is the only sport I can do too. Hiking is sort of advanced walking, right? Zumba is impossible for the dance-challenged and Janis, you did good for a first timer!

Josie, I know this is so scary, but your son opened up to you, and that means so much as a first step for him.  I know you will get him the support that he needs. I am so sorry about your friend.

Cindy your dh is so lucky to have you.  Sounds like you have laid down the law!

Go Kate!  Kick those cancer cells in the *ss.

Thank you everyone who wished me luck.  I have been trying to get all the things that must be done during business hours done and tucked away before my start date--whenever that is.  Oil change, tires, appointments of various kinds, and yes, a little shopping for work clothes (but just a little.)  I lost a lot of weight in the last couple of years and it is a necessity.  It will be more fun after the first paychecks!

I know I didn't get to everyone, but I am thinking of everyone.  Hugs all.

Cindy and Janis thank you for the support.

Cindy, I am glad you have a new career and especially glad your hubby is better

Janis thank you for the lemon cake balls

Chemo was aggravating because it took 5 times to find a vein, and then it was in my hand, and that hurts more

Then all of a sudden I started seeing floaters in my left eye.  If you remember I had posterior vitreous in my right eye a few months ago. Now I am seeing the floaters in my left eye. I called the eye doctor, but he can only see me tomorrow at 8:30 am. I am feeling too yucky from chemo to be there at 8:30 am. I need to take care of this ASAP, but right now I need a good night sleep more. The only time the eye doctor sees patients for emergencies is at 8: 30 am and his first regular appointment is Sept. 26. I will see how I feel tomorrow and see what to do.  If my left eye only has a posterior vitreous detachment I will be ok, because those settle down. I am praying that it is not a retina tear. I am so aggravated I did not need this.

Oh Kate, not another worry!  No fair!  This is a hard day.  I hope you feel better, and your eye is behaving itself, after some sleep.  So you could see the eye doctor the next morning (Thursday) at 8:30 if you still needed to?

Josie, of course you are doing the right stuff for your boy, but how scary.  Courage to you!

April I am glad you stopped by to check in.  How is the Aromasin affecting you?  I am having a lot of joint pain, but nothing is apparently wrong according to scans.  It sure hurts though.  I hope you find some relief from the SE's you are experiencing.

Kate I am sorry you weren't feeling as well as you would like.  I have had floaters in my eyes for years.  I have never had any trouble with them.  They haven't gotten any worse, but they are annoying for sure.  Hopefully yours won't turn out to be serious.  i hope you can get some rest tonight.

Josie when I hear about a kid in that much pain it breaks my heart.  Been there, done that.  When our children suffer we of course die a little inside.  I hope that help will be approved for him very soon.  I am really sorry you have to go through this.  Big healing hugs to you.

RunFree, if you are still not scratching that is fantastic news.  We will all have to celebrate that!  I had a very hard time following the routine and the speed, no way!  It was fun but far too advanced for me.  I wish I could do it but it was far too difficult for me.  I had fun trying but I'll stick to the safer stuff.  My DIL loves it and does it every day.

Bunkie, Runfree, Josie and Janis thanks so much for the support

Runfree I am so glad you are feeling better

Josie I am so sorry about your friend.

Floaters are still bothering me. If not better tomorrow I will have to see if my eye doctor can see me at 8:30 Thursday. I am worried he won't be there because it is Rosh Hashanah. Happy new year to those who celebrate. Unfortunately I am alone this Rosh Hashanah, but if I am feeling better I will go out and at least have matzah ball soup.

My friend Tracy, the one I go to Happy Hours with, is in China on vacation. She had a photo op with a real Panda. I thought it was so darling I thought you would like to see it.

My eye is still bothering me this morning. I will call the eye doctor today and see when the soonest is that he can see me

Hi Kate,  Happy Rosh Hashannah.  I am off in about an hour, until Sunday, as is typical in NY.  I am really looking forward to it.  Once again, I am not surprised that your doc wants to get in every chemo for you.    Just sorry you've been feeling low and that they had trouble with the IV.
Bunkie, glad to hear about your mammo.

A hazard suit protects you from anything...

Runfree, I hope you are headed in the right direction with the rash.  If I remember, flea bites start out flat...contact (poison ivy or oak) rash starts as bumps and a bad case can cause the rash to become one big itchy blotch.  I am not sure you will know at this point.
Cindy, I am glad to hear of some changes in DH's approach to eating.  Mine is ignoring his issues and getting away with it -- for now.  At some point, these guys have to "own it".

Kate I enjoyed seeing that pic of your friend with the panda. How neat!!

Happy New Year Kate and Susan and any one else that celebrates.

I had a rotten day from the moment my feet hit the floor.Let's see, first I rinsed my mouth with scalding hot water, out of coffee filters so no coffee, sneezed so hard that I wet my plants, changed clothes only to sit down and spill my cereal down the front of me,Then stopped for coffee on the way to work and sipped it to taste if there was enough creamer and burned the inside of my lips.

Josie, some days just look at you cross-eyed!  I hate burning my mouth, no fun.  As Scarlet would say, Tomorrow is another day!

Kate, I loved that picture too!  That was an unexpected treat.  I hope you are feeling better today and get someone to look at your eye.

Joan, thanks for the info about rashes/bites.  I am feeling a little backsliding, starting to scratch again, have some old and new raised patches.  Phooey.  I will call tomorrow and see about getting a PCP appointment for Friday.  Tomorrow's booked pretty solid with classes.  Better news, I remembered I have an electric razor and I was able to get a reasonably good shave.  I kept feeling as though the stubble was making me itchier, plus more bummed out.  I think it's time for an ice cream sandwich.

Thanks for the New Year wishes and I wish them forward!

Thank you, ladies for the New Year wishes.  I surely hope Rosh Hashanah ushers in a happier and healthier year for all of us.

Josie--What a day!  You're entitled to a smooth as silk day today!  And for the future, paper towels work just fine as coffee filters.

Sorry the itchies are back, RunFree.  I guess it might be OK to set up the hidden cameras in your classroom after all, so we can all enjoy watching the scratching spread all around the classroom.  Of course, you can just break into a yawnathon when it's time to change the subject, so to speak.

Kate, thinking about your eye and hoping you'll be at your eye guy in a few hours.

I woke up at 4am today. I have no idea why. Just opened my eyes and started at the ceiling for 2 hours. Then I got up and tried to find my way in the dark to get some ice water downstairs. I am going to break my neck on day on the steps. It was 50 here this morning.

Josie - I am still laughing at your post!! How many days have I had like that. Especially burning the mouth and peeing the pants. I know there are surgeries and meds for that but no thanks!!!

Joan - That hazard suit looks really good about now. Think of all the stuff I could get done in it. My house would be fixed completely. I could wade around the basement. help with the leaking ceiling...OMG paint and sand my wood floors...I am thinking I need one!!!

Kate - That was a cute photo. I love Pandas. I have had bad floaters for about 3 years. Hate them. Hopefully you are better today and can get some sun.

RunFree - Not itches again. I was hoping you had this fixed. So much for prednisone helping. I am thinking it is helping something but not sure what. If roids don't fix it .....it may be awhile. How is the calamine?

Brookside - Tried your idea this morning and yesterday. Seems to be working so far but I am on my way to an appt. That always messes with my balance.

    Hello to everyone else.

Happy New Year to all my friends celebrating!!

I also woke up at 3:30, laid there until 5:30, when I finally fell back to sleep.  The reason I woke up was I was afraid I had double booked an appointment.  Turns out I did not.  Got to the office and my printer would not work.  Spent half an hour with tech support, was late, dashed out.  Got to her house and she was outside waving me down. Got all flustered, grabbed most of my stuff, including my purse.  Realized I didn't need my purse, so locked it in the car.  Turns out I'd left the client folder on my desk, so I went to the car to retrieve some blank forms.  Turns out I'd dropped the keys in my purse before locking it in the car.  Luckily, KIA has an 800 number for road service and I only had to wait half an hour for the truck, which was fine, because, luckily, the appoinment had just begun.  Finally finished, hit the road, pulled into a McDonald's drive-in for an unsweetened ice tea.  Hit the road again and the tea is sweetened.  What next?????

Bunkie I have barely been outside for a week. It is way too hot here to get sun. It is not supposed to cool off till Monday, and then I can go out.

I was able to see the eye doctor today and thank God it is not a retinal tear. It is posterior vitreous detachment. annoying but not serious. I am relieved

Big relief Kate!  Glad you were able to see the eye doctor and SO glad it's not a retinal tear.  I hope you can have some fun this weekend despite the heat.

Brookside, that black cloud over Josie yesterday obviously blew east to you!  I hope you have a better day tomorrow. Some days just weren't meant to work.

And what's with all the wee hours stuff?  Me too, awake at 3:30, but I sort of dozed until just before my alarm went off at 6.  For many years my mom and I have had this idea for an invention that would let you know who among your friends and family was awake in the middle of the night so you could just call them.  I still think it would be great to have that.

I am in a funk.  My itching is worse again, and today I have brand new areas of raised continuous rash.  I got in to see my nurse practitioner today in the middle of my crazy day of classes.  She is stumped.  She could give me a long list of things it did NOT look like or isn't acting like.  Not scabies or bed bugs or mites, because those would not stay on just one half of my body and would affect others in the house.  Not shingles, not bacterial, not fungal.  Poison ivy would be better by now.  She says the new stuff looks hives-ish, but that's not much help.  She hadn't heard of the browntail moth but she said the fix would probably be prednisone, and that has not helped me much and is now being defeated by the forces of itch.  Our plan is that I'll finish the pred, since I just have two more days, and starting tonight I'll try OTC Zyrtec.  She looked it up and it did not seem contraindicated with Tamoxifen, although it's an antihistamine somewhat like Benadryl.  If it works, it'll work in a couple of days, and I'll keep taking it until the rash is gone.  If it doesn't work, on Monday I see my MO anyway, and I'll beg her to take a look at it and see if she or the RO can get me to a dermatologist faster than the NP can. Do you suppose a smart dermatologist could just look at this and say "Oh, it's XYZ"???  Or do (painless) testing that would answer the question and give us a solution?

My new fear is that this is some exotic reaction to Tamoxifen and it'll mean I can't take it anymore--and I would have to do ovarian suppression or go without either recurrence shield.  I know that's getting ahead of the evidence, but the NP was just so puzzled and it made me think this is not going away.  My {{cough*50th*cough}} birthday is in 11 days and I am trying to plan a party for the 14th; my mom and siblings are coming and have even booked hotel rooms (a big deal for them financially).  Yard sale this Saturday.  Need to get focused on work.  No time for itchy mystery rashes that start to ease up and then change their minds.

Run free, are you still using the calamine? Seemed it got better the day after trying it, but that was probably also the day you started prednisone. Sorry about this weirdness....I'd think it's not tamoxifen simply because that also would not affect just one leg....I'd guess. Good luck....

Run free, sorry that pesky rash hasn't left the scene yet.Hope that they can get to the bottom of it soon.

If she's suspicious of it being a rash from the Tamoxofin then why didn't anyone else catch that before now?Isn't that listed on the 10page warning side effects paper?

Kate I'm glad you got to see that eye Doctor and its not as serious as you thought.

Sew, I've been cycling among a bunch of topical treatments.  I should try the calamine again as it's been a couple of days.  Josie, the NP wasn't suspicious about the Tamoxifen causing this--that was just me borrowing trouble.  I'm very glad I am seeing my MO on Monday because I think she will take it seriously.  If not, the RO will, and if she doesn't, the NP will get me to a derm, but probably more slowly.

Hoping to dance tonight even if only a couple of twirls on the floor...thinking of flying to CA...beach...GS:)

Cindy...I suggest you make a recording of your daily conversation with him.....did you, don't forget, have you, how much, when?  and then....wonder of wonders...you can just start it in the morning, and let it play.  Then YOU get to go out and play!  I know, I know, but we can dream can't we?  Aren't all our gadgets for making life easier?

I'm now off to lunch with my officially 95 yr old mother, having spent 2 hours on the phone on family business again this morning.  I do so love retirement!

Oops, Cindy, forgot to mention I've often thought of one of these recordings for my own use.  In my case, I'd do it for myself so I didn't forget those important things...lol....
