Just wanted to wish all my October sisters Happy Holidays!
Saw my onc today and everything seems to be fine. White blood counts are back up, fever is gone (well, okay, I haven't exactly checked today...) and I was back at work for 6 hours. I hope that's the end of the SEs until my next round in 2 weeks.

Hello lovely October ladies. Am preparing for tomorrow's lunch so have little time to write but wanted to let you all know that I will be finishing rads next week. I have had no SEs to speak of, so I think I was very lucky, as I go for my daily treatment every afternoon, leave the hospital and then can carry on as normal... Great relief that I am coming to the end of a journey which started 10 months ago!
So glad to read that you are recovering from your first chemo, Rachelvk, and wanted to say to you, and to Mardibra and Sigarcia that my hair is now growing quite fast (last chemo 12 August), and though the texture on the sides and the back a bit thin and wispy, the top coming out quite strong. Am still wearing a wig, but I think I will soon be able to go bare (a courageous step!)
Many healing thoughts and wishes to the rest of you..I hope AJ, Ginger, CookieMonster, margieC, Iluv2Knit, are recovering and not being plagued with mad itches, painful backs, discomfort etc etc..
I'm sorry I can't mention everyone, but October sisters, we have walked a frightening path together, and you are all in my thoughts this Christmas..here's wishing for a healthy and peaceful 2012.

Wishing a Merry Christmas to all of our October sisters!!! To mirror what Maria_Malta said, we have been through a tough time together and some are still experiencing the negative side of BC you are all in my thoughts!! Let's not lose touch with each other!! We have been SO helpful to one another. I have really learned to come here first to vent, or encourage someone else along...we are the only ones who truly 'get' what we have been through. (as I sit here with an ice pack on my right muscle spasmy foob!)
Rach--I realllly wished we lived closer. When I read about your side effects or scares, I just want to wrap my arms around you and give you a gentle hug. I know you are so scared, but the upside is that you are so aware of your own symtoms that you DO get medical help and don't just wait and see. I think it is important that when something is not seeming quite right, you get it checked out! You are your own best advocate!!
I will be sooooo glad when I am done with all this aching. It really does get old feeling like you have the flu all day. The good news is that I survived my first full week of work last week and now have 11 days off for Christmas break.
I am trying not to complain much at home because I really don't want to burden my family with any more. I am probably frying my liver with all the motrin, tylenol and vicodin I have taken lately for my aching joints/body. ughhhh!
take care everyone and enjoy your family at this valuable holiday time!!

rachel- how are you doing? How is chemo going?

Hi Ginger. I'm on Day 22 - and the hair gets shaved tomorrow. It's really thinned out, but my hair is so thick to begin with that I was able to hold on to a decent head of hair through New Years. Other than that, I've been fine for the past 2 weeks (yeah!). Tx #2 is Thursday. We'll see what that portion of the roller coaster is like!
How's everything on your end?

Rachel-I am doing ok. Went back to teaching preschool today and never realized before how much energy that takes. I have been out since late October. I have to wear my sleeve for lymphedema but it went ok. I am soooo tired though. Glad to hear you are doing ok and sending positive thoughts for Thursday. I have a good friend who is going through chemo right now and she shaved her hair before it could fall out on her. She looks beautiful!

Okay, girls. I figured I could share this with you and some of your would appreciate it.
I went for my second chemo treatment yesterday, and they did my bloodwork through my port upstairs in the onc's office. I pulled my t-shirt back over the disconnected tubing so I could head back down to the infusion center, and while waiting for the elevator, I looked down and saw.... a 'headlight' on my left foob! Okay, a little lower than it used to be. Anyway, it was the small clip that was keeping the tube locked, but it just made me smile. For the first time since my surgery, it looked just that much more normal. Made me laugh, although I readjusted my shirt so it wasn't sticking out that much in public.
My tx #2 went fine, no reactions, and after resting up this morning I'm heading into work for a few hours. Hoping everyone's doing well, and that you have a great weekend. I look forward to hearing occasional updates to see how everyone's doing as they move on.

Rachel -- your headlight story made me smile. I hope chemo is not too bad for you.

Hi October girls, I haven't come in here in some time but just thought I'd let you know that I finished radio just before New Year, and am now officially over all treatment... I am feeling good, back at work and getting used to my 'new normal'. I just wanted to wish all of you who are having chemo, or further surgery, the very very best.. you will pull through, you will feel better, you will beat this monster... and to thank you for being around when I needed you most. Although I have less time to come on line, I will be checking the boards on a regular basis.... take care all of you, you've been just great!

Hi October ladies... i thought I would pop in and give you an update. Tues Jan 10 I had my exchange surgery. All went really well. There was some issues with getting my IV started - 30 stressed filled minutes laying on the operating table and 8 tries they finally got an IV going in my left foot. UGH.. It was worth it to get the TE replaced with softer implants. I was in the recliner for the frist 5 nights and the last couple I am back in bed with a bunch of pillows. My PS didn't use my BMX incisions since my skin is very thin and well healed. Instead he went under the breast in the fold. Since I have feeling there the incision was a little painful, but I was off pain meds in 3 days. All in all I am happy. I am in a breast strap which wraps tightly around my chest to help move the implants into the area of the pocket the PS opened during exchange (this is to get the implants closer to the center of my chest). If you want to see I have posted my pics on the picture forum. I hope everyone is doing well....

Margie- congrats on your exchange; life is nuch better without TE's!
Maria_Malta- it is great to hear you are done with treatment and getting on with your new normal!

Hi ladies - always good to hear from you!
Margie - Glad the surgery went well, and that you like the implants. Good luck with the rest of your recovery.
Maria - Congrats on finishing up your treatment. I hope the radiation wasn't too tough on you. And thanks for your thoughts.
I'm on Day 14 of my second TAC tx. Other than my departing hair (my hairdresser couldn't get herself to have my head completely, just buzzed it into a pixie 'in case I don't lose it all - yeah, right - so I have lots of bald spots as it takes its leave), I have had no major SEs and I'm very, very grateful. Next one is next Thursday, so we'll see. My PS is very pleased with the way things are healing, and I'm probably looking at an exchange in late April or May after chemo is done.
Hoping everyone else is doing well. Sending you all my best.

I mentioned I had my drain out on Tuesday...yesterday. I noticed that on the mx side only, I'm sweating all day. Tonight, the left side, under my arm pit is soak...wet. But, the other good side is completely dry. Perhaps, whats happening since the drain is out the fluid is working its way out through the sweat glands. Has this happened to any of you?
sorry, thought this was on the Dec thread as many of you may not know me...but, the question is for you to...love to know if anyone else had this experience.
