Thursday is good for me too, as long as I'm feeling OK--first chemo is Monday and of course no idea what to expect!

I'm getting Taxol #2 on the 29th. Sorry, I have to miss getting together on Thursday.

Fiddler, all the best to you tomorrow as you proceed with chemo. I'm sitting here wearing my wig trying to practice how it might feel wearing it later in. It's kinda like wearing a hairy hat. Or like a Halloween costume. Lol Hopefully I will, in time, get used to it.

Chantal, I'm sorry that you can't join us and wow, you'll be 75% there after this week. I'm envious. It's been a rough go for me this week.

Alana, may tomorrow go smoothly for you.

Beth, if your'e not up to it for Thursday lunch, we can postpone. Hope you feel better this week.

Chantal, almost at the end. So happy for you.

    Hi,

Thanks for the good wishes. I'm not too nervous. Just still have lots of questions, which I have written down! Took the steroid this afternoon and do not really feel any differently.

Went out Saturday and got a wig....still in disbelief about it but relieved that I am now prepared. My husband was so encouraging and says it looks great. No problem for me when it grows back in, I've had my hair really short in the past, it looks good on me, and so am looking forward to maybe a short pixie cut at that point.

Beth suggested a restaurant near me on Thursday--I'll try to think of one and let's check back in on Wednesday and make sure everyone's feeling OK.

Chantal, glad you are making good progress! Almost there!

Forgot to say I live in Overbrook (near Vanier & Coventry) so if a restaurant in that neighborhood is good with people, that's what I'll try to think of.

Alana I'm not far from you, just near the Gloucester Centre. I'm also up for lunch Thursday. Would like to meet more of you. Keep me posted say by Wednesday night.

I won't be at St Laurent class tomorrow as there's a BCA support at 10 am at Maplesoft. I just got the pampering notice for Oct 1. Is anyone up for that?

Hi Girls. Cristalle, why did I have that the meeting is at 1:00pm??? No doubt I'm wrong. I have an 11:30am commitment but will try to make it to Maplesoft at 10 if I'm feeling better. No joke received about 40 needles in my head last 2 days for my migraines. Nothing compared to what you gals are probably going through with chemo.

Alana, how you doing!! Thinking of you.
Beth, how you doing!! This week better than last?

Getting to Gloucester Centre area is easy for me so if you pick that location I'm fine with that.

Most important topic: Lunch! How about Big Rig at the Gloucester Centre, say 11:45 to beat any potential lunch crowd? Easy to get to and it's large. I'm picking a bland place with a varied menu in the case that Alana can attend and her tastebuds are off. Mine still are. So far looks like JoJo, Christine, and me..anyone else?

Chantal, best to you tomorrow. :)

I have officially survived round one..finally had a full nights sleep with no SEs so I'm definitely back on track. ! I won't be coming to the group today though as I have Headstart this afternoon and two groups in one day will be too much. Today we are being filmed for a segment on CBC which is rather cool

Yeah Beth, congratulations. Yes Big Rig is great tomorrow. The food is fine, and music not too loud so we can talk.

Met some nice women at Maplesoft today, another Christine too! Varied journeys for sure.

    See you tomorrow!

Big Rig it is. I have my oncologist appointment at 10am at General so if I'm a tad late its because my appt wasn't on time. :(

    See you girls tomorrow!

    Hi all,

I am good for lunch tomorrow too but I hope everyone will get this message--can we make it 12:30 instead of 11:45 as I have a phone meeting at home at 11:15 tomorrow? That might work better for Jo too.

can you please reply to say you've seen the message?

Feeling OK but yes my taste buds are definitely off!

Hope to see you all tomorrow

    hi all--

I have a phone meeting at home tomorrow at 11:15 (should be short) so I think I will probably more likely be there closer to noon.

Yes my taste buds are off but I'm not feeling too badly--just shaky from the steroids.

    See you tomorrow!

hi ladies, don't think I will make it today. Just really feel like I got hit by a truck, it's either the Neupogen or the day 4 after chemo, but feeling pretty weak.

Let's try to make lunch a regular thing and I will join you next time.

sorry I missed lunch. Wow the bone pain from the Neupogen is really something else. I hope it doesn't keep on like this for another week!

Hope to be there next time!

Alana, the bone pain will pass..trust me, The nurse who followed up with me suggested I be more proactive in taking Tylenol every 4 hours until it subsided. I was worried about Tylenol masking a fever and she said as long as I take my temp first it would be fine. I had been running a temp so I was hesitant and clearly suffered as a result.

Tomorrow seeing an acupuncturist to help with SEs for round 2.

Beth, i'm glad to hear you got the go-ahead to take tylenol. My dental ligament pain spiked again and i called in to a nurse at the cancer centre to ask about ibuprofen. She looked up my most recent blood work and said my platelets were high enough i could go ahead and use ibuprofen judiciously.

Then i discovered that this is the sound of pain relief:

thanks Beth maybe I will try that with the Tylenol. Just a teeny bit better today but still feel like crap. Where do you get acupuncture? That sounds like a good idea.

Melodie, I love that version of Over the Rainbow...in fact, I keep it in my car and when I need inspiration, or some items a good cry, I put it on and listen to it on repeat! Yes I know it's sappy. I've been taking Tylenol, just not Advil. i hope that helps your ligament problem.

Alana, I'm doing acupuncture atthe OICC...decided that I needed to do something in advance of round 2 to make it better. It's weird but will see if it's successful and an alternative to taking handfuls of meds to counteract the SEs which is pretty much the other option.

I also have shingles now...arrived in the night Thursday and saw the doc yesterday. I had the vaccine before surgery and it seems to be very mild so not too uncomfortable so far. I'm on meds for it which should help it clear up quickly. Fortunately its in a place that's not visible !

I got my hair buzzed off and I actually like it.! Was out in public in numerous places and didn't even cover it up. I realize that strange people seeing me have no idea what I look like normally anyway! I'm grey and white this short which totally changes my look. Now if only that little bit of hair would stay lol. Anyway is a good transition for me and makes the pending hair loss less scary.

is anyone going to the Babes for Breasts concerttomorrow night? I can't make it but it benefits OICC and is always a great show. Never imagined three years ago when I first went I'd need their services some day.

Also, should be set another lunch date? How is everyone undergoing chemo faring?

Had my 3rd of 4 Taxol treatments today. It went well.

My last session was scheduled for November 3 but it should have been October 27. After the booking office called my oncologist, the appointment was moved to October 27 and the oncologist apologized for the mistake.

I have to have a blood transfusion next Thursday. My results from this week's blood test weren't good - issues with my hemoglobin.

Chantal, I'm glad you are nearing the end of your chemo, yet what a drag that you need a transfusion in the meantime. ! I have to say I'm quite amazed you have no Neupogen side effects. I'm on day 4 and feel like I got hit by a bus, however this time my drugs are better and acupuncture is helping with some SEs as well, so somehow it's not as bad. (It's all relative). I just keep thinking that it will pass, because I know it does.

Cristalle, no B4B for me tonight as much as I would love to go and having been a recipient of Headstart, which was fabulous and 100% funded by them, I had wanted to support them. Not in the cards today for me unless there's a miracle between now and this evening! Lol

So...lunch? Timing. Chantal has her off week next week but with transfusion and I think Alana is a chemo week so how about Monday October 24? For the exercise ladies we could go right after our class @Maplesoft so that would be a late lunch, about 1 pm. Does that work for everyone? If someone would like to suggest a place that would be helpful :)

Chantal, so glad you are nearing the end, but what a drag about the blood transfusion! Are you feeling really tired? (I would guess so).

Beth hope you are hanging in there. Glad this time it doesn't sound as bad as the first time.

Got my wig earlier this week and am trying to get used to it. I think it looks great, I am very happy with the look. Sent a picture to all my family and they couldn't believe how good it looks. However she buzz cut my head and I still have lots of little pokey hairs that make the whole situation very itchy! I'm only wearing the wig when I go out.....I will actually be glad when I go totally bald. LOL. Ordered a bunch of head covers online so anxious to get them.

Yes my chemo is tomorrow so hopefully lunch on Oct. 24 will work for me--last time I was better, but just tired on the Monday after.

    Hi everyone,

I sent a package of leaves from a tropical plant known as anamu to my friend under breast cancer treatment. She says that she's already cured.

I want to give the leaves to someone in the Ottawa area who wants them.
