Been a few days since I've been on here but here's the update.

I bought a vintage Sekai mixte road bike, and now will not have the money for a LE workshop I was going to attend. Priorities huh?  Well, $100 was a lot for a workshop, and plus we know so much about LE already, I'd probably be going through stuff I already know.

Then, I went to the VA in search of a LE therapist, and the LANA certified therapist they have on the grounds hurt her back and isn't seeing paitients right now. I think I"m going to drill them on their other therapists and if they don't sound qualified, I'll wait for the LANA person. At least she's in good hands, her own.

Juzo garments should be in soon, maybe this week.

So, a few slow steps ahead. Hope everyone is doing well.

If you have a slipped disc in back, make sure you get a good rebounder otherwise you will get too much jolt in the back. Mine is a good one, even so my chiro had me off it because it hurt when I bounced. Now that I am doing myofascial release at physio I can go on my rebounder. My back/hip is improving but I will always have trouble.

Out for walk now. Did bed stretches and MLD at 5:30 am. Couldn't fall back to sleep so I knocked off part of my exercise program. Yeah.

Will try Purple's arm swing idea. I only do 5 minutes at a time and not daily. Must move it upstairs where I can see it.

I didn't watch much of the game yesterday either, but i di make some chicken chili, and I am happy about pitchers and catchers reporting. Can't wait to go to a game this year!

walked two miles to and from church yesterday. Probably got a nice amount of steps in with the cooking yesterday too. Today will be going to the gym for the elyptical. And I am also feeling really bloated. What is it, the weather? Maybe all the chili.

I think I kicked LE butt today!  I did some Leslie Sansone with lots of jogging intervals, and then I jogged back and forth the length of my longest hallway, and I'm always pleasantly surprised at how it's possible to get the heartrate up with simple indoor jogging.  Went to the gym and worked with my trainer for an hour, mostly on weights, and also ran a mile on the treadmill.

Trainer is convinced that doing aerobic activity for at least 15 minutes after lifting weights reduces the risk of delayed onset muscle soreness, or DOMS. DOMS is an inflammatory response to muscle overwork, and that means it's a terrible outcome for those of us with LE.  So, my trainer nags me to hop on the treadmill after lifting weights (or to jog or do Sansone at home after lifting dumbbells in the house), and he also believes that a light snack with both protein and carbs helps to prevent DOMS.  And, some good stretching and lots of water to drink.

Gosh, there sure are a lot of 'must do' items on the punch list when exercising with LE!  Anyway, I'm up to 6.9 miles for my day and feeling totally relaxed after the gym time!  I do hereby commit to MLD before ending my day.

    You DID kick butt, Carol!

I have heard those suggestions about the snack on the "Womens Health" DVD as well!  ( So probably good for all/ not just LE)

I do make sure now after my daily aerobics that I do LOTS of stretching. I can still touch the floor from my Pilates days, which is remarkable to me considering my breaks and r cuff injuries!

I am thinking ot taking the local LIESTRONG program as long as they incorporate some of  the  'ideas' from my  document.  I am playing phonetag with them.

we'll see.  I would love to involve them with my DVD  in soem way.

Purple - glad your toe is better, is the pain in the thigh any better?  Is there a lump?  My toe is on the mend, still can't walk, but did go swimming today with DD, we had been walking everyday, and getting in a good chat.  She lives close and has 5 children that she homeschools, so the walk is a great break, oh, and her husband is on workers comp, for over 2 years now, from an on the job injury, just had to have another surgery - anyway - swimming was great, we swam and bobbed around with noodles and were able to chat, I felt energized and all relaxed and stretched after, was wonderful, and didn't bother the toe Cool

Carol - we swam for an hour, the water was warm, the sun was shining in the window and even the showers were warm when we got out - it was definitely bliss!!!  And it was warm enough outside that you didn't need to wear a coat (55-ish).  Cool

Much improved, thanks and no lump!
I believe I am overdoing with the exercise and  just dont know it .  (DUH)
I really do know better - must start taking my own advice , dang it ! Wink

The swimming sounds heavenly.  Do you have access often ?
I am taking my lil 2 1/2 yr old granddaughter to a nearby hotel on  Washington's  B'day for an overnight and a 'pool event'.  I did it last April when I was DX, and we had the BEST time ever.

Your rendezvous  made me look forward to it all the more .  Seems like such an extravagance, but it's memory making.  Cant put a price on that .

We have a public pool, less than a mile from my house.  You can buy discounted punch cards and passes, and it's open pretty much year round (closed a week or two for cleaning) 6 days a week.  The school uses it, but they have adult lap swim 4 days a week, aquasize easy and hard 5 days a week - it was donated to the community in the 50's by a local business man because a child had drowned up the river, we live in an area with lots of water, he wanted every child that lived her to learn to swim so that this could be preveted, so every child in the school system takes swimming from K-5 free, private lessons are offered, etc....  It's really a great assest for our community, not many small rural communities under 4000 popluation that have something like this. It's gradually creeped up in price, but you can still get a yearly unlimited pass for under $100 per yer for senior, and I think family is around $200 yearly.

I don't go as often as I should, though I love swimming, it's not so enjoyable if the showers or pool are cold, also, the chlorine does a number on my skin and hair - I wish they would make it a salt water pool, but ....  someday.  I guess if I got on the Parks and Rec board I could push for that - hmmmmmm - ot the way I feel, but .... someday Laughing

Yes, what a  wonderful asset and worthwhile venture as well!
Well, at least you can go as often as you think it will not do you harm, I suppose.

Linda, I am a pool junkie!  Hair gets nasty but if you find one of the chlorine removal shampoos, they work wonders at removing the crud.  I buy one called Ultra swim at the drug store but there are other brands.  And always do a shower after the pool, hate to smell of chlorine!

I would love to be a pool junkie but I want a salt water pool as it is so friendly on my skin.  Did stretches/mld/ hoola hoop. no cardio outside though.

Proud, I would love to belong to a gym with a pool, but you can't beat $10 per month at Planet Fitness. I have to wait for the good weather to swim.

Did 2.25 miles on the elyptical and the circuit, feeling pretty good about myself right now:)

Kay, I did get lucky on this, Planet guys around here only opened after I joined my "pool/gym" and it costs me $35 per month,it keeps my back from being crankie also!  Pool works better for me than any pill for many things!  If you ever get to central NJ, come for a dip!

wow, no way could I do 2.5 miles on the eliptical so congrats to you!  I punk out after about 5 min!

I find that an elliptical makes me work very hard, so I tend to avoid it (unlike Kay, who must love a challenge!)  But today I decided to face up to it, and I too did 2.5 miles on the darn thing.  I did another 2.5 miles of walking today, most of that in spurts as I did errands and parked at far ends of parking lots.  It was cold but very sunny today, so nice to be out and about a bit.

Anyone hear for our dear dam walker Becky. I am a little worried?

LOL Carol! I find the elyptical to be the easiest equipment in the gym. I can't do the treadmill or the bike for nearly as long. My friend that goes to the gym with me is the opposite. She can walk on the treadmill, but can't last on the elyptical.

    Olyolyoxenfree Becky!

Did rebounder and aerobics this AM.

Then did a little sweeping of snow ( 10 mins) at work shortly after  and felt like the SIDE of the left breast was swollen.  Decided I was imagining it.  Not.

Went to LEist tonight.  She noticed immediately.  Two hrs MLD.

BTW, she said  do MLD then sleeve and glove/gauntlet, followed by  rebounder.

I did ask her if I should be wearing night garments. She said she felt comfortable with me going without at this point.

The ellyptical is much better for my LE than walking.  Even holding my arms at 90 ... my fingers still swell up.  Undecided

    Whatever works!

I did Lebed opening, time with my trainer, yoga class and right now focusing on drinking lots of water!  Laughing

    Will do MLD before bed.

    Thanks proudtospin.

Hugs - that's what I would like too, but I guess I have to take what's available and it's better than a lot of places.  Did I say, there are usually only 4-8 people there, more often on the low end, this week there were, 5 of us, which included me, my DD and her 12 year old son!  May as well be a private pool.  And I knew both of the other swimmers really well.

rumor has it that excercise will include snow removal for this weekend....not happy about that and will hope the maintenance guys from the development deal with the white stuff.  gosh o but the weather geeks are so happy about the inpending storm that I think I want to put my fist in their face!  oh well, will hope not to be home bound as for me, the gym (confession time here~) includes a social aspect of seeing pals,  I do more time on machines if a pal is on the machine next to me to talk!  Works as a distraction!

proud, no need to confess enjoying social time while exercising!  It's an enormous motivation boost when you can get it.  I live in a very small town, and our only gym is a true muscle gym, with very few women coming in. So I'm not chit-chatting with friends there, but I would absolutely love that!  Oh, and when you simulate putting a fist in the weather people's faces, make sure you're moving it upward while pumping, so you get double-duty out of it!  We've already got 2 ft on the ground, and another 8-12 inches are now falling from the sky.  I'll be clearing a walk later, but it's very short so not a lot of work. Fortunately, we have someone plow our driveway, which is very long.  Be careful if you have to shovel.

Carol, if you want to keep this new storm (think they named it NEMO, how cute~~)  do so please!  A second confession, I will be watching the Weather channel on Sat if this dumb storm all happens, a secret of mine!  I live in a town house so they do the snow removal for us but we still need to dig cars out...been lucky this winter so ignore my complaining......I think!  I lived in Brooklyn years ago and was across the street from the fire station.  There I would bake cookies to get the fireman to dig my car out after storms...very effective I might say~

Lebeds and walkies done. I have the rebounder in the garage so my goal is everytime I pull in after a long haul in the car I must go directly to the rebounder and bang off 5 min. I hope this works! Gotta go do tai chi breather now.
