I can't remember who suggested wetting my sleeve before walking, but a big THANK YOU!  It really does help keep my arm cool during my walk.

Glennie, that was probably Binney as she lives in hot hot climate. I don't think I would leave it wet all day though. Maybe a bacteria thing or something. Not sure.

Spraying it or if you know that it will dry fairy quick is good. Thanks for reminding me. I will wet mine during my walk. It is black and hot in the summer.

Back from trip, was so hot I didn't put runnies on. Will do though tomorrow as it is my regular walk day, no matter what.

hugz, I only do it prior to walking, cuz to keep the arm cool.  Believe it, it is dry by the time i get home!  It's HOT here.

    Binney,,, thanks for the suggestion!!

Having LE in both arms, I only have BP done on my leg, usually the thigh. It is about 10 numbers higher than arm, generally.

Ok, I have put in a 45 min walk and it is very hot. I moved half thru my outdoor walk into a building with air con. That made a big difference. It was boring walking the halls but I did it today and late yesterday afternoon. Lebeds each day to.

    I am glad I moved today.Happy

My neck went out of whack on Weds and I had a bad bout of vertigo. Still wasn't quite right yesterday. Today I did a short walk, and tomorrow I'll try for a walk and to resume my resistance exercises,,, slowly,,,,

Garden work today, and I got 11,583 steps in for my trouble.  And I may have overdone things with the drat LE arm.  I'll know for sure in the morning, if it's too unhappy to be put to rights with my Tribute.

    Glennie, slow is sooooo appropriate!

hmmm. Thought I just posted here but don't see it. I spent three hours in the pool this week which is good for my LE and, as a bonus, has helped the plantar fasciitis, too. Encouraged! It will be in the 90's tomorrow. I'm hoping I don't melt to the ground as I do an hour or two around the track for Relay for Life. I wish I could get out of it. I don't want any setbacks.

OMG,, yes, Carol, it is.  I have a very out of whack neck due to whiplash injury, and if things shift the wrong way, I get vertigo and it's just awful.  I'll be laying down and still be dizzy. So I really have to watch the way I position my neck over the next few days and take it gently. Short walk and then try a few of them exercises and see how it goes. No pushing for the complete workout tomorrow.  *sigh*  it's always something as Gilda used to say.

Wonky neck and I took our walk this morning and saw 2 armadillos!  That was cool.

Then I did a very slow easy resistance workout.  Got through most of my assigned exercises, I only skipped one that I thought might aggravate my neck. So far, so good. I'll see how the rest of the day goes. Not really having vertigo now, but there's a slight headache and a feeling that things are just a little bit out of focus.  What's really weird is that I start the day like this (since the vertigo attack on Weds) and then later in the day, around 5 or 6pm it seems to dissipate. Very strange, cuz I'm sitting at the computer working then.

I am 2 years our from my diagnosis of stage 2 breast cancer and had lumpectomy with 7 nodes removed from my right side. For the past 2 weeks I have noticed that my ring and middle finger on that hand have felt tender and painful when I open and close my hand. Some days it goes away  and some days it is there most of day - though only when I close my hand in a fist

Is this how lymphedema can start?

it could be so best to see your MO or surgeon to get a referral for testing with a LE expert

    best of feelings for you

Lebed is a series of exercises by Sherry Lebed. She has a DVD.  Google the Lebed Method (I can't remember her website) and you'll find it.  The stretches and exercises help with LE, but they should be done in the order that she does them on the DVD.  You can find them on Youtube if you want to see them before you get the DVD.

    Hi, scaredy,

"Lebed" is shorthand for a DVD from the Healthy Steps website, which is run by Sherry Lebed. It's an exercise DVD especially designed to move lymph fluid (and restore some semblance of fun). Sherry is a nut, but the good kind, and a lot of us use the DVD regularly because it works. A lot of us also are tired of the exercise chatter on the DVD ("SLOW is good for the Lebed method and brewing coffee!") and either turn down the volume or turn it off completely and use our own music. It's here:

    Be well!

yes, that chatter will get to you. And some of those smiles are rather eery, too,,,,

Otherwise it's a good DVD, and it really seems to help.  (if I would only do it everyday)

I went for a bike ride today. It was a gorgeous sunny day here in MN!

At my OT appt. about a month ago, my therapist told me that I have about 1/2 liter more fluid in my affected arm. This week she measured me and my numbers have gone down! Wearing a sleeve has worked despite one PT's comment that wearing them as a preventive measure does not work. I only have Stage 0 but do massages and exercises every day because I want to prevent it from getting worse. Now if my frozen shoulder would get better I'd be one happy camper!

I wonder how my exchange surgery next week will affect all this.

oh dear, Jeanne, do be careful and baby yourself.  I worry about falling as my balance stinks but so far, not.

BC--glad you got to ride bike, (one of my fav things to do.  Sounds like good that you are doing things that are helping the LE, good numbers for you.  Do you think your exercise routine is helping you to get the swelling down?

Me, dang feet hurt, last night in bed, the feet and ankles felt all tingling and achie, thinking it is neuropathy in the dang feet so will be bringing it up to my PCD later this month at my physical.  I can not take any NSAIDs so it is hard to find a pill that helps, need doc advise

proudtospin....I'm not sure if it is or not. I'm not exercising regularly, altho I should be walking every day. I think just doing the stretching for my frozen shoulder and some of things my (new) OT showed me for LE, even though technically I don't have it. Maybe it's the sleeve or maybe it's just being aware of some of my triggers and avoiding those, or a combination of both. Like this spring I was all gung-ho and started raking, spent too much time in the sun, got a slight sunburn, and our weather was very hot and humid. Turns out those are all triggers for me. The numbers have gone down since my surgery although to me sometimes it looks more swollen. Weird. Another good thing - that tight "band" feeling around my arm I've had since the surgery has finally gone away. And during our last appt. my OT showed my DH how to massage the huge chunk of scar tissue under my arm, and that is feeling better already!

Ok, I'm logging off now and going for a walk! It's another beautiful day!
