need to kick my butt in gear!  I signed up for a gentle yoga class on Sunday at a new place that a friend recommended. This particular teacher has had additional training with cancer patients, so we'll see how that goes

and then I signed up for 8 classes of Tai Chi thru community education starting on Monday. 2 classes a week for 4 weeks. Hopefully this will get me back in gear!

Glennie, You classes sound delightful. You will enjoy them. Excited to hear about tai cai. Do let us know.

Walked yesterday and I am strapping on my shoes in a hour. Very warm and sunny here so there are NO excuses.

Carol, you should let MODs know that your fairly new ipad is acting up also so they can come up with another reason for faulty typing. It is so annoying that I haven't been posting lately. I always have my ipad with me and finding a desktop computer is not always so convenient. I wanted to help a newbie last week but my ipad was so slow I gave up and logged out. DANG IT ANYWAY.

Hugz, it really is super annoying. Like you, I have my iPad on me most of the time, and it's a wonderful way to check in here when I'm traveling for work. Laptop travels with me, but it's a pain to haul out and find it some wifi. I really wish the iPad and BCO were better friends. I'll send the mods a note about the typing problem.

Hugz, do you use a bluetooth keyboard with your iPad?

Gentle yoga yesterday.  Started Tai Chi class today. So far, so good!  This Tai Chi teacher really focuses on the foot work and the core before adding the arms, which I think will be good. Not that there are weights or anything,, but this way I just keep my hands on my hips as I do the moves.

Carol and girls: Sorry for turning this thread into a Computer Services help line but I think all will be ironed out and our awesome iPads should preform as usual :) I just communicated to MODS again and said that some of us have have a new iPad and that we still are having troubles posting with slow text also.

Just got a message back from MODS and they said it seems like it is an issue on their end with compatibility with the text editor they use and they are looking to upgrade in the next few weeks and this should resolve all problems. YES.YES.YES! I am glad I pursued the matter and so maybe this terrible slow text will get resolved and we can start posting with our iPads which are so handy.( I also get a reverse colour text were the background goes black and the printing goes white momentarily. Hope that gets fixed too.)

Yes carol, I do have a bluetooth keyboard I sometimes use with iPad but I don't think that was the issue.

Glennie. You sound like you have shaken up your workout with something different and definitely interesting. Do search for my thread called Tai chi breathers and maybe have the teacher look at it. My MLD girl suggested it and it came from a study and they said it was beneficial. I will see if I can repost it if I have time.

I have been doing short walks of 30 min lately. Hard to get out the door but 3 minutes into walking and I then love it! Just need a firecracker under my butt to get me off the chair.

GUESS WHAT. The slow text started to do it on my desktop also just now in the grrr thread I was posting on. My MAC desktop started typing really slow when I deleted text and tried to retype. It fixed its self though but did it again. SOOOOOOOOOOOO. its just not iPads that do it. Once I started to delete text as I was typing it also ate up my words that I typed. It ate up about a full sentence until I put the curser down in another spot and pressed enter.Sooooooo it is BCOs programming not a Mac problem.

MODS. It seems to start doing this if you press delete key a few times within a few moments to try and edit your text.

I just want this fixed so we don't get frustrated and stop posting like I have done in the last few weeks.

Sometimes  i use my Ipod touch to access this site too and it is working ok too. BUT I haven't done an "update" on it in a while,, and some people felt the latest update is what screwed up their Ipads.

The mods have been wonderful in a conversation with me via PM and in a 'glitches' thread they've got going. I don't envy the BCO tech team; what can go wrong will go wrong in the world of diverse machines, operating systems, and technology we live in. I use a windows 8 PC for work and often post from there, never with any problems. I use a windows 7 laptop for work while traveling and never have issues posting from that machine. I rarely use an iPhone to post, as when mobile I generally have my iPad mini with me too, and I hate thumb typing. I can't recall ever having a problem on BCO with my phone, but then...I cannot remember the last time I tried to post from it. So for me, the only problem machine is the iPad, and from comments here, I wonder if the incompatibility is Apple more broadly than ipads.

BC statistics as they are, there's a near-certain chance of there being several highly placed women in the Apple organization having BC. Wouldn't it be great if they caught wind of this problem and nudged Apple to donate some of their amazing tech expertise to solve this problem for our BCO friends?

Back from my 2 hour water aerobics class...it feels good until I have to climb up the stairs out of the pool and gravity takes over again. Hip replacement set for May 26th. Trying to keep my strength up until then for better surgery recovery.

Laural, what determination you have! The work you do now will certainly pay off during recovery from your hip replacement.

I've been traveling too much for work lately, and exercise is a casualty. I have managed to make it into the gym at least once a week for strength training--two times a week would be much better! I've been doing an in-hotel-room cardio workout designed by a trainer at my gym, lots of different movements that don't aggravate my knee issues or my LE, but get my heart going. It's convenient but not as rewarding as being outdoors on a sunny day. I feel like I'm barely keeping adequate exercise in my life, but with lots going on, I'm ok with that.

Saw all my doctors last month and all is 'well'. No evidence of disease - I'll take it. That means my knee and leg pain is not cancer but mostly likely a result of the aromasin or the arthritis. Interestingly, my vit D was low so I started taking OTC vit D. My legs and knees feel better....hmmm. There are some articles on BCO that talk about low Vit D and side effects of aromatase inhibitors! All I can say is - - - I can deal with the little bit of arthritis pain if the Vit D fixes the rest.  Look out treadmill, here I come!

Pssst...it's been awhile since we had any posts here. Wish I could jump start us with a fabulous exercise report, but I spent the last few days driving 11 hours round trip, with three days in between spent packing and moving boxes around. I was working with my son and daughter to pack up my parents' home after their recent relocation to a senior community. I got lots of steps and tons of stairs as I was moving from one level of the house to the next. Not to mention my strength training, i.e. the boxes. But this was not the kind of endorphin-producing exercise I would prefer to do.

I'll be traveling for work this week and will need to do my in-hotel-room cardio routine every day to get the blood flowing again!

How is everyone else faring? I'll bet the recent weather has dampened some exercise spirits.

Just back from a whirlwind drive through snow and ice from Ohio to VA Beach to pick up my youngest from graduation at the US Army School of Music. I think I aged several years navigating the mountains in the snow. Back tomorrow to water aerobics. Wedding in 2-1/2 weeks for my other daughter. And, yes, Carol. moving counts as exercise, just not as enjoyable.

Sounds like life and things like moving do not stop for the snow!  I ended up doing home stretching as my gym is in a center which had 2 water main breaks!  no hot water for showers so have done most of my stuff with home toys

Please don't hate me because I live in FL and do not have to deal with snow.  I have been seriously gardening.  I wanted to clean out the "back 40" before the weather got hot and snakes start appearing.  So I have been raking, etc etc.  I really love doing it,, but I'm being careful to not spend TOOOO many hours out that at one time.   Hard to restrain myself cuz once I get out there, I dont want to stop.  Had to make myself stop at 1130, so I could get to Tai Chi class.

Glennie, I wouldn't trade -18 degrees and 4 feet of snow for gardening where you have to dodge the snakes! Wow, that's a funny (to me) motivation to get your garden cleared! But good for you to be out there and enjoying moving!

Laural, what wonderful reasons you have to celebrate. Congratulations!! I did white-knuckle driving, too--probably passed right by your home turf on my way from Michigan to central Ohio. My LE arm is always, always bugged by driving. I'm never sure why, but I do know that gripping the wheel while driving through bad weather makes it even worse. I feel for you, having to do that on such a long drive.

Hi gals. I have been a bit slack here but did slap myself and am back on track. I have had to start walking all over again in short durations so I dont get my ever so famous shin splints that pop out of nowhere. They trigger real easy for me. Been walking 10 min intervals and up to 1/2 hour.

Did lebed opening and it felt great. I do it to zen music.

Its spring and so we gotta "Spring to it !"

hugz, it's hard to think spring with all the cold and snow in so many parts of the country!

Yesterday,I did my in-hotel-room workout designed by the trainer I sometimes work with, and it's a good way to get my heart pumping. Today--airport walking.

Hi, I've been reading your posts and what a great thread. BTW, I've often had issues with slow typing on my desktop, but it's random. I also had a nasty computer virus that totally shut down my computer connection. My husband insists it was from "those breast cancer sites you are always on." I don't know how I got it, but it was like cancer in my computer .... YUCK!

Thanks for that great article on BC related LE and exercise. I just joined the Y to get back to doing Yoga. Their gentle yoga classes are great, although I still avoid doing dog downs and planks. Instead I do cat-cow or child's pose. I'm a little scared - afraid that my LE will flare up. I'm told by my PT that it's okay as long as you go slow. I love Pilates, too, but there are no classes here in town. Anyone have any good DVD suggestions for Pilates? I'm hoping to try some pool exercise and the treadmill now that I am committed to 3 times a week. Insurance pays part of my monthly fee, so that's a great incentive.

Thanks for the tips on "dangling arms" - I'd never heard that before.

And yes, I'm jealous of anyone living outside of the midwest! Winter here just won't quit. It was 8 below this morning, but I don't let that stop me. I go to a nearby indoor walking track. I"m getting tired of walking in circles!

bc101, So glad you found us. We haven't posted much but we do have a following that drops in sometimes to let us know how we are doing. We all go our own pace here becuase that is the safest way of not hurting yourself.

So sorry girls that you are not experiencing our spring weather. I just have to let Carol our gardener know that we are 6 weeks early in blooms this year and have had tee shirt weather. Sunny and about 60 degrees. My hyacinths have been out one week and early tulips to. Daffys almost done on the southside. Yet we had frost on the deck less than a week ago.

I am planning on moving and shaking my fat off today!

Hugz, you are simply killing me! I do have an indoor, hydroponic salad garden, so I'm eating fresh greens I can harvest every four or five days. Still! I am pining away for spring!

bc101:  I 've used Pilates for Wimps.  It is very basic,, definitely for beginners. If you have done a lot of Pilates before, you may find it too basic, but I like it. It is my only experience with Pilates.
