I discovered that I'm more likely to have a flare running the vacuum then weilding a rake or a shovel. And I only use a small Shark. How annoying. Oh well, this way I have an excuse not to vacuum as often. I'll keep the sinks & toilets clean for my own pleasure, and just not invite anyone with eyes younger than 50 into the house.

Good to hear that I'm not the only one with self-control problems.

In the old days, you could hire a neighborhood kid for some of the heavy lifting. But the economy has changed so much and it's just not what kids want to do.

gardengypsy: isn't that the truth? My brother used to make good money in the summers, mowing lawns, and doing other things like that.

Half hour outdoors, walk up staircases down stair cases, up hill, down hill -knees hated me and I wont be doing that type of intensive knee bending again. Daughter took me on her excercise route-Not for me.

Sliver Sneakers class yesterday, and walked a couple of real outside blocks delivering neighborhood newsletters. Managed to walk on the treadmill today for 30 minutes at an LA Fitness on the other side of town. Turns out that was a "signature" location - ooo la la. That means it's larger, you get to use their towels, and since it's right next to the medical center, they validate your parking. Not a bad benefit since medical center parking is REALLY pricey (like up to $5.00 for 30 minutes). Anyway my membership doesn't cover the extra amenities, but the nice man at the desk said I could walk today as a trial. I don't need a more expensive membership at any of the 4 locations that are closer to me, so I just won't plan on going to this location between doc appointments. I'll walk around one of the hospitals.

My LE/PT told me today that I shouldn't vacuum the entire house in one session. Really it's only a lightweight Shark, but the repetitive motion apparently caused some swelling. (truncal & breast). Maybe this is a good reminder why I haven't vacuumed in a long time, and I should continue to give it a miss.

Silver Sneakers again tomorrow and then a lovely Japanese Bento box lunch with my SIL. If I'm really motivated, I might walk on a treadmill at the gym close to the restaurant after we visit for awhile. Or not.

Garden - good news. I'd much rather walk outside, but with the neuropathy in my feet I really need the side bars to keep me steady. That way I won't step on a crack that I can't feel & fall and possibly break another bone.

Does anyone here get cranky bone or muscle glitches while exercising? Sometimes my arch feels pulled but it's not and after a minute it works it's self out. Sometimes it's my knee but it corrects itself after a minute or so.

HERES MY STORY AND IM STICKING TO IT!

So going about a two percent incline on a trail about 10 minutes into my gentle walk I get a crink in my ankle for no good reason. Never had this ankle glitch before. Felt like intense arthritic stiff pain and hurt like crazy every step of the way. If I had a ph I would have called ambulance. I was thinking Ineeded help to get to my car. I could only put minimal weight on the foot. I slowly hobbled back towards car thinking this is ridiculous. While hobbling it slowly fixed itself a bit and I noticed if I was on flat I was ok, any incline or decline set it off due to bending ankle. So I carefully slowly finished 6 miles and even managed to jog a bit. At home now with absolutely no ankle issues.

    WEIRD OR WHAT!

Purple. I started with one pound weights and finally after a year and a half I lift a average 5 -7 lb weights depending what muscle it is.

    Thanks, Hugz.

I do recall the PAL program, and I think I still have all the docs Carol shared with us. Really sounds like you are doing great! When you say trainer, is your trainer a " LE trainer " or ??

    WEIRD OR WHAT!

    Hey hugz,

I am the queen of weird stuff, but could it have been plantar fasciitis? I have had 2 long lasting bouts of that over the yrs. , and it seems debilitating at times!

hugz - I've been sticking to level ground so far. I do occasionally get 'cramps' in my calves, but PCP put me on magnesium and now I just feel like I "might get a cramp" but it never siezes up. I'll be interested to hear if your new anomoly ever happens on the level ground.

Absolutely. Even though my LE is truncal & breast, I find release from swelling with MLD. That said, I probably should do it every day but I only do it when I sense swelling.

Minus. Glad to hear you could do inclines without seizing. I hope your magnesium does the trick to.

No I usually don't get cramps...well from dbl mast /rads I get I cramp in my right lat if i move it a certain way it kinda locks but I can work it out pretty quick. I truly believe this is from surgery.

Purple. No planter facilitis here for sure(sad for you)and the arch thing is just strange for me, have had for a few years. Weird ankle is good but it has a tad bit of a twisted ankle feel. Nothing to stop me yet. I'll try it out in a couple days. Weird Auto immune diseases are up my alley.

About my gym purple. It's very awesome. Two cardiologists and med doc created my gym. It's more like a rehab gym. Only ten people a hour use the gym with two kineseolists on board to help. Personal service for sure. Expensive 25 bucks each time

My first day they tested my heart on the treadmill all hooked up with wires. Awesome heart. Beat the test! They ordered standard tests, colestrel, tad high and I'm prediabetic. Blood pressure done on ankle.bit high. Overweight 40 lbs.

Then they have two full on board kineolists develop my exercises to my specific health issues. Every time you start they take heart rate and BP and finish off same way.I dont do the BP. The girls there have limited experience with ankle BP but we're willing to learn it and will do it if I request. We record each exercise we do for review.

For LE I gave kineseologists PAL exercise sheets and they have me do some of the stretches accordingly to what my body is capable of doing. But first I do lebed opener for upper le. Then I do 30 cardio. Finish with cool down and stretches. They looked at some of the weight exercises in PAL and adapted them to my needs. I do about 8-10 different ones. All major muscles. I made sure that they knew I was starting out with one pound weights and so they had to order them into the gym.

They were so accommodating and ask me few times a month if I have noticed any swell or unusually changes. Every three months they test me and weigh and bmi and discuss my progress and every two weeks they see if I need to up any weights or cardio or back off.

They also have me recording my food which helps me be accountable. They send coaching emails to weekly.

Whew that's my le program. I also try to walk extra outdoors and do weights once a week at home. The gym is two times a week. We have a lot of 50- 80 yr old that go for stroke and heart rehab. I'm improving but weight is slow to come off because the devil lives in my fridge.

hugz~ I have a very similar program in a rehab gym as well. Right now I am halfway through the 12-weekprogram, which is completely free and designed for oncology and cardio rehab. I go 2x a week. When the program is over I can pay monthly to stay on. It's been a blessing!

Minus, I am learning the massage techniques now; they will be in my toolbox if I need them.

Garden. Fantastic. Don't stop once you finish program. My gym had been worth every penny. I spend less on frills so I can do this. It's so motivating.

Hugz - I am amazed at the amount of support & acknowledgement at your gym. WOW. And Garden - you are lucky too. But I'll have to get up & go into the kitchen to check because I thought the devil was in MY fridge. Divide and conquer? (or divide & overcome?)

I can maintain the same weight if I don't buy, order or eat bread. But even on one meal a day, I don't loose - no matter how many miles I walk on the treadmill.

I have gained 25 lbs. since DXd.

I think that cancer, with all of the drugs, radiation and co-occurring health problems (sleep issues, depression, pain) has reeked havoc on our metabolism and our bodies..

hugz- I am a little shocked at how much I am enjoying it. The program I am in is free, sponsored by the oncology department at our university hospital. It's partly sponsored by research grants, as well.

This should be a choice in everyone's survivorship care plan.

Garden. I'm so happy your on your way to better health. Exercise is number one for sleep and depression. If you keep up your good program you will be able to garden even more so. Yeah I love gardening. You too

    Just finished exercise for today.

Minus. The devil is everywhere. In all our fridges, junk food isle is his fav spot. I found out he don't like hanging around the veg isle so I try to visit there more often these days. Devils fav food is not devilled eggs, it's cheesecake!Ugh dang

The devil grabbed me in the bakery dept today and forced me to buy a round loaf of Rosemary/Olive Oil bread. Well, it was on sale. And I had a coupon on top of that. And I haven't had any bread in two weeks!!! (whine, whine, whine) Dinner will be bread & butter - and maybe a few veggies to add color.

I just found out that if your Medicare supplementary insurance or HMO Medicare insurance cover Silver Sneakers classes, it covers the use of the entire facility, all equipment, and any classes you might want to take. I had heard that about the YMCAs, but Silver Sneakers is partnered with lot of gyms too, like LA Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness. Your membership is free!!! I have standard coverage through AARP/United. My friend has coverage through a Humana HMO. I'm going to save $250. on my gym membership. Woo Hoo.

I looked puffy when I got in from the garden today. Too much raking. Did my LE massage.

    Congrats on the savings, Minus!

That old devil had me eating leftover coconut cake all week. Thank goodness tomorrow is a gym day.

Oh my I wished we lived closed. I would have helped you with the cake.

I just put my LE/PT on hold again for awhile. There is a limit to how much Medicare will pay each year. I want to save some of my time in case I have a flare later in the year.

Yes, I would see my LE PT twice a week if I could. She just advised me to save my remaining visits also.

can I ask what the LE PT does specifically? I haven't done LE treatment in 30 years, and I am wondering what the current mode of thinking is.
