Hi all, let's try to move a bit more because winter time is all about snuggling into the tv room with cozy warm fire, and EATING mindlessly. This clearly does me no good!

Sooo I vow to myself I'm going to step it up for the next two weeks and then take it from there.

Soooo I worked out and walked dog on top of it! Felt great to sweat off the calories.

    Let go girls

Thanks Hugz. I'm going back to Silver Sneakers for the first time in 45 days since I jammed my knee, and then favoring the knee, broke a toe on the other foot. Hoping things will hum along from there.

Minus it's a good thing your not a fourfooted animal. You might have injured every leg available! Maybe start out slow.

Those broken toes can be such a small thing but a real pain to deal with. Broke two 4 years ago hopping over a baby gate. Thought I was 12 and could raise my legs high enough. Nope! Took all summer to heal and off course i was barefoot at times and rebroke it. Good thing your suppose to wear your cushy shoes minus

It was minicuis that you tore in knee right? cant remember.

Luckily the orthopedist said it appeared to be just a "deep bone bruise" and to come back in a couple of weeks if it wasn't better. Don't remember if I posted here, but when he looked at the X-rays, he said I "had the knees of a teenager". Too bad the same isn't true for the rest of me. Both are gradually getting better & I just can't sit around and gain any more pounds. But I'll start slow.

I was a good girl. I went to my Silver Sneakers class for an hour.

Then I came home & worked in the yard for 4 hours - pulling out my Plumarias for the year (and 3 of those are over 10 ft tall so it took some serious digging), pruning roses & shrubs, cutting back shrimp plants, topping Elephant Ears that are easily 6 ft tall with 24" in diameter leaves, digging up weeds & volunteer 'trees' in the flower beds - not to mention that darn bermuda grass. I wasn't able to finish since it gets dark too early, but another couple of hours should complete the weeding. Maybe tomorrow, but I have lunchy plans so maybe Thursday.

Hugz - I love walking in the rain.

Jumping in here to tell you how grateful I am for this thread. My recent DEXA scan was disappointing - not quite osteopenia but a significant decrease from my previous scan (damned Anastrozole!). Combined with the fact that my scale doesn't budge even though I'm exercising 13 hours a week, I was having a hard time staying motivated to go to the gym. But then I remembered that all this work is keeping my LE virtually undetectable & that's powerful motivation!

Today I spent 2 1/2 hours at the gym - weightlifting, stretching & strength exercises & an hour on the elliptical. Blew it all by making homemade turkey pot pie for dinner but it was worth every calorie! (hmm, could that be reason I'm not losing weight?)

Hugz, I'll arm-wrestle you for Minus's knees. Mine remind me daily that my teenage years are in the distant past. Minus, I'm green with envy!!

Just a quick check-in before surgery tomorrow. Having prophy MX on Righty. Have to wait for the drain to come out before getting back in the pool, but I'll start walking around the neighborhood as soon as I can.

    Back soon!!

Glennie,we miss you here and think of you as you get your surgery. Let's us know how it went asap. I will go out and walk in the rain just for you because you can't exercise tomorrow and you can count the exercise, it's on me!

I gave it my best at the gym. Ole heart was going 167 beats a min. Usually I don't go pass 145-157 so I'll back off Friday at gym. Good heart, bad body parts! Going to take it easy and pretend to houseclean today.

JKL. Oh my 13 hours! Yup no fair scale don't budge. Once I exercised like mad for about two weeks straight everyday and ate my allotted calories. But I made sure I ate real low fat. I couldn't lose! My gym said eat 200 cal more and it jolted the weight so I lost again but so slow! I now eat 200 cal more a day when going to the gym. I'm a old folk and weight is such a issue! And don't start me talking about thosedrugs to tamp down cancer. There pure evil on weight and bones. I still feel like I'm 90 yrs old ten years later.

Let's have a lottery for Minuses knees. Its only fair.

Minus. You need to hide those gorgeous well oiled knees cause we're comin to get em

Glennie - yes, SO glad to see you posting here. Hope the surgery is easy and please let us know.

Went out for a Japanese hibachi meal for lunch then came home and worked another 3 hours in the yard. Whew, How come I never learned go half speed? Thighs are screaming after 45 days with no exercise. Oh well, no evidence of an LE flare. My arm & trunk seem to be OK and 90% of the weeds in the back flower beds have actually been dug up & pulled out by the roots. It got too dark to finish. Did I miss complaining on this thread about how much I HATE standard time when it gets dark so darn early?

Glennie. Thx for report. Keep on the right track. Nice to hear of your successful operation.

A Bit??? After Silver Sneakers Tuesday & 8-10 hours of gardening Tue/Wed/TH & Silver Sneakers again Thursday with a 'boot camp' instructor, my thighs won't even lift me off my chair. Eeek. It's hard to believe how fast the muscles go to pot. I'm going to attempt to be more diligent.

Donned rain gear because dog looked at me with "those eyes"! Doggy basically took me for walk.

It’s beautiful in Northern California, cold for me (50 degrees) and the walks really warm me up.

    Have a good Sunday!!!

Glennie- the drain was the worst part for me! I was so afraid I would pull it out. One of our cats wanted to smack at the tubing! I had to make sure I kept it tucked in!

Prayers for quick healing and drain removal!

My friend came over to walk my dog last night, and I walked with them! Weather is nice and cool for FL. Hope that the exercise, helps to move the fluid out faster, and I can get the drain out soon!

Glennie great to hear your moving and with dang drains to. Oh there such a bother. My doc grabbed mine and ripped them out quick. Didn't feel a thing.

Did home gym and 40 min walk. I feel like I am getting a cold. Tired. Taking my zinc. It stomped it out last time because I caught it before it could fester up. I hope it works again.

stomped out my sore throat and regained strength. Was able to walk 4.25 miles today in sun!

Will hit gym in morn. Been trying real hard to increase exercise and it's working. Finally BMI 24!! And a1c 5.6. Last 9 months. Somethings working. It's called EXERCISE ;) I won't quit gym until knees and hips are walked apart and need replacing!

Just got to get portion control in order.

    Let's move everyone!

So impressed, Hugz - you always inspire us! I did 45 minutes of PT exercises this morning & then walked around the mall for 3 hours (otherwise known as Christmas shopping). May add some snow shoveling to tomorrow's workout if the weather report is accurate.

Awe thx all of you. We are on this journey together.

JKL. 3 hours on feet is quite a feat! Watch you le while digging snow. It's fun but can get us in much trouble. Take breaks, raise fists in air pump slowly to move fluid back up arm. Don't forget... water!

Varadoll yes it's hard to get going again but so worth it. I have increased my energy levels so day to day tasks are not so tiring. It's a job.. but so worth the effort. Start small like just walking around block. The fresh air is great for our brains to!

Glennie. Are you surviving the drains

2fun. I think Binney has affected leg but not sure and if so I think it was systematic not due to below waist surgery but axillary instead. Just can't remember but I think her lymph system was prone to be faulty to begin with.

Hope she comes along to give info if she has it. You got a huge bite to swallow. Heads up, though. you can cope by learning as much as you can! Don't let it get you down. Come here for lifting up.

Ps. Ate way too ugh today. Maybe Ill walk it off tomorrow. I hope.
