My LE PT also had a bar that I had to grasp on each end and move up & over my head as far as possible while laying down. She measured how close I could get to my arms laying flat over my head. I also had to do sideways motion - like angels - from my side to up over my head and she measured my progress. She would massage/manipulate the muscles under my arm & on the side of my chest as I moved through the arc.

But you are all correct. As my RO said, if we stop the stretching, the irradiated tissue will contract just like a rubber band. We must stretch for the rest of our lives to keep some freedom of movement. I've tried to learn to stretch in bed every night, and to sleep with my arm (s) over my head sometimes.

Do any of you ladies use a half foam roller for the snow angel stretches? It just adds a little extra to the stretch. I ordered my half foam roller off Amazon.com for about $12.

I have a fitbit Alta and love it! I have 13,297 steps in so far today. That' just doing housework!

I roll over onto my side and grab top of my headboard on bed and stretch that tough piece of meat that was radiated. It stretches it good. Be careful. I also stretch a few times a day. Will try the snow angels to for fun on the floor.

Laying lengthwise (on your back on the foam roller would be good as a chest opener with snow angels. You can stack blankets up rolllike to achieve this stretch instead of roller.

    Good workout today.

I have a large foam roller that I lay on to do some of my stretching. PS said it would be good at stretching. I do feel it!

I have a question for my LE friends...do you pee ALL the time???? I have always drank alot of water but seems like my out put had doubled. I wondered if the LE or tamoxifen had anything to do with it.

Thanks for the foam roller idea. I will get mine out and see if i can get a better stretch on it!

Vargadoll: I pee all the time but I did that before LE, so I don't think that will help you.

Good news: back in the pool! I did a Gentle Joints class today, really good for a start back. I'll hit my regular class tomorrow.

Bad news: In April, they are closing the pool area for 10 WEEKS!! for remodeling,,, and sadly they will not be making the warm therapy pool any bigger. i use the warmer pool for my classes as I find the regular pool is just too cold for me to be in there longer than 30 mins, no matter how active the class is. So kinda bummed about that, but the regular instructors are going to come up with a "road map" of class suggestions for us regulars.

glennie19-YAY for getting in the pool! Boo to the 10 weeks of it being closed! We put a pool in this past summer but I really didn't get to use it much. We had to drain it 3 times to fox installation issues. When it was finally fixed the weather was not warm enough here in the mountains to warm the water back up for me (and the LE ) grandkids were in it turning blue lol!

VargaDoll - I don't have any urgent or changed volume pee issues due to LE. Wonder if it could be the Tamoxifen? I haven't taken that so can't speak to the SEs

I haven't creeped around on the tamoxifen threads I might look and see if there are any comments about "extra pee"...

I started a workout regime one year prior to my diagnosis. I am so frustrated because I can only do 10 minutes walking on a treadmill with the Breast LE.

    This is tough. Any suggestions?

Boob Fluid---that is my issue...do not know anyone else dealing with this. Any other suggestions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Runor your story is so like mine...I had surgery in August and radiation in October

Katie: Welcome. I can't find a member anywhere named Boob Fluid (with or without the space). Can you tell us what you are dealing with? Also it would help if you to go My Profile and fill in your diagnosis & treatment so far. Several of us do have breast &/or truncal LE and have various coping mechanisms we could share.

I had to cancel my Prolia shot due to the extreme sleet & icing conditions in Houston. I really considered going, but all the schools & colleges were shut down & non-essential City services cancelled. I lived in snow country in the past & think I could still drive under those conditions, but I expect there aren't two people in 1000 in Houston who have ever tried and they were driving like nuts.

So Prolia shot re-schedued for next week. I have done no/zip/nada exercise in 10 days since our freeze, so am having some pain. I expect it's mostly the radiated tissue pulling back again even though I am still doing daily stretching of that side. Hope so anyway.

what do you mean by boob fluid? Truncal edema?

Can you walk 10 min more than 1x per day?

KatieHawk, wish I had answers for you. The boob swelling bugs me too. Oddly, you'd think the swelling would be on the outer side of my breast where the surgery was. But no. The swelling seems to be on the inner side, my cleavage. The skin has that weird orange peel look to it because it is all plumped up with fluid. I massage my boob at night, following instructions I've seen on different videos. Makes no difference. The exercises that helped very much with the other fluid swelling have NOT helped boob or arm.

Tight compression tops have been suggested for night to help the swelling. But with the hot flashes I get from the tamoxifen the thought of having anything tight on is terrible! As it is I hurl off the blankets, whip my t-shirt up and heaven help poor Hub if his hand is accidentally touching me when my personal inferno goes off. 'Stop touching me, you're making me hot!" (and I don't mean that the way I did when we were in our 20s!)

I keep hoping this is a radiation side effect that 'settles down', but it has not improved one bit in the past 6 months. This boob hurts every day.

Katie. Welcome what you describe sure sounds like lymphedema. You need to see a qualified lymphedema therapist to gain control before it controls you and gets worse. Google stepup-speakout.org to get educated and find a therapist nearby. Some very time giving girls here wrote that website and it will teach you everything. Try deep belly breaths, drink lots of water to help move fluid.

Try wearing a men's ( not womens )very tight under armour brandcompression tee. There about 35 dollars. Get a size or two smaller to bind you and see if that gives your swollen Breast some pain relief. Ultimately you need to see a therapist to get assessed. Let us know how it goes.

runor, I saw an LE therapist, and he released a lot of my scar tissue, and my boob pain is significantly better. get yourself to a LE therapist. YOu can't always do it yourself!

Here's the link for the LE site that Hugz is discussing. It's really helpful.

2FUN, I winced in pain just reading your post. That tissue really binds up, doesn't it? It blows my mind what radiation does to a body.

hi all. I’m still exercising but bring careful with sprained ankle. Actually my ankle exercising takes more time to do than my cardio workout yet I really can’t count it as exercise as it’s Physio stuff I’m doing. Such a pain in butt this ankle but it won’t stop me. What it did do though was slow me up a bit causing some pounds to add up. Yikes

Ok reporting in that I jogged on and off for 9 min but didn't tell my family or they would have killed me. Ankle feels good but was so scared I'd roll over that I held treadmill arms. Felt great to fly on the trendy. Weight lifting also.
