Finally got it right.  Sorry for the post deletions.  Braces still on, one boob bigger than the other, and a wig but I am ok.  Next stop 25 x radiation and another mastectomy.  Thanks for helping me get through this xoxo

KT. Those are your boobs in there!! I am feeling ok. Again they reduced the taxotere by chemo 20% because if bad side effects on round 5, but I saw Mike McCrystal who was just lovely, and he assured me that the effectiveness wouldn't be reduced. The next few days will be rough but I have walked this track before, as you all have. Just saying, glad I am not a man. Roll on radiotherapy in 5 weeks

Congrats Nikki on last chemo!! Wahoo! You will find radiation a breeze after chemo but it is a pain having to go to the hospital every day. I laughed at the bit you said about being kt's boobs!! For the newbie ladies, Kt sent her falsies over to Nikki as she didn't need them any more.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts about my daughter, Erin. Donna and Shazzakelly sorry to hear about your kids too - it certainly isn't easy! Erin now has another ultrasound scheduled on Monday at our local Breast clinic to make sure the absess has resolved itself. Hopefully it has and that side is all good. You wouldn't believe it but just to add more stress into the equation her boss at the childcare centre wants a meeting on Friday morning to talk about 'alleged' employment contract misconduct that someone reported she did. They are trying to say she turned up unfit for work and was on drugs or something. I am getting the GP to write a letter explaining that she was on antibiotics, anti-depressants and was prescribed Tramadol for back pain. With hindsight the concoction wasn't ideal but it certainly isn't like she was out-of-it like they are trying to portray it. I'm trying to tell her it's all fine but meantime I'm seething about it lol

My lunch with the ladies went good yesterday. It is good to chat to people who understand and Koo no need to apologise about talking about you! That's what the group is for. I'm glad you have decided to go private initially - I had health insurance so did that too. Was in straight away and it all pretty much flowed quickly after that. I need to keep up my health insurance now as probably wouldn't get it covering anything BC related ever again if I quit it. I don't have any life insurance though but good to know about what you all talked about previously about the funeral cover.

Anyway - better get on with the day. It's a stunner out there :-)

    Love to all x

Yah Nikki, good on you. Now you've just got Radiotherapy which is a breeze, albeit a tiring one, and it will be but a distant memory. Fantastic. I feel for your daughter Kruise, OMG she (and you) must be out of your minds with worry and the thing with our kids is, they aren't just worried about their Mums, but their futures as well. Not to mention everything they have been through having a Mum with BC. I would want to phone her boss and explain the situation, but I know you can't do that when they are big kids can you? Hopefully the Doctors letter will help. Good luck to you and your daughter. My daughter is going through Counselling at the moment and I think it is helping her, along with medication. I think I can see the girl she used to be before all the crap started happening to our family. Life sure is tough sometimes. I often think I must have been really really bad in a past life because it sure feels like I am being punished for something in this one. Anyway, like you say Kruise it's a stunner out there today. Time to put my big girl britches on and face the world haha!

What a gorgeous day today. So glad it's my day off and I get to enjoy it Had paddle boarding again this morning. It was so beautiful out on the water. I've really enjoyed the paddle boarding so far. I've managed to stay out of the water both times. If any of you get the chance to do the program when they roll it out properly I highly recommend taking the opportunity. It's a fantastic workout and a good chance to connect with other Breast cancer ladies. I'm exhausted though this afternoon.

Hope everyone's having a great day today. I'm off to Eddie Izzard tonight with friends. Should be a great show.

Paddle Boarding sounds great Shazza.  I will keep an eye out about it - I need to do something fun which is going to get my fitness back up!  I was walking 50k a week, and was very fit prior to BC, now I have put on 8 kilos and need to get rid of it once the chemo is out of my system.

    Hi all :)

I'm so glad you're getting use out of the foobs Kiwi. You're looking so good. On to rads now :)

I wore my new tiny (sizeA) foobs last night bcos I had a wedding to go to & my dress needed something. These days that's the only time I wear them. It was a lovely wedding/reception but now I'm exhausted becos I worked yesterday as well.

I hope your daughters meeting went well Kruise. It's so hard to see your kids going thru things like that... (& for you Fizzdon)

Sounds like the paddle boarding is good Shazza. Shame I live too far away to do it easily. How was Eddie?

Nice to be home Terre? I hear the weathers been nice in Wellington too.

Another hot day up here. I think I'll mostly chill out & recover, apart from picking grass for 2 alpacas who are still shut in the pen. Taurus the paca is doing ok, no signs of an early demise so hopefully he will recover & be allowed to go outside with his buddies soon :)

    Have a good weekend!

    Hi all,

KT - so glad Taurus is doing better!

The trip home was good, but really slow. Like stuck behind every tourist wanting to drive 70 km/hr in the 100 km/hr zone. Oh well. I did stop along the way; just north of Foxton there was a bull terrier running up and down SH1. Traffic was at a standstill and someone from the northbound lane managed to get him off on the southbound verge near an open gate. I was right there, so I pulled up to the gate and got out to see if I could shoo him into the yard. He growled at me, so I got back in the car and basically chased him up to the house with the car. I was afraid to get out so I honked the horn several times. A very annoyed man came out and said "What do you want?" I told him his dog had been in SH1, and he begrudgingly thanked me and told me I was trespassing on private property. Oh well. At least he put the dog back in the yard. :) So that was my big excitement during the drive.

Weather here is ok, a bit windy and cloudy, but not too bad. And it's nice to be home. Off to ChCh for two days next week, but the home for a few weeks again, with any luck.

    Sending hugs to all,

    Terre

Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well. I am on holiday this week, just at home but it's lovely. I had my Oncology appointment yesterday and they have taken me off letrozole/femara and zoladex injections for two months to see if I start to feel better. It's not something I wanted but I can't go on like this and my blood pressure is still high despite medication. I am also having bleeding and the Dr said this could be the letrozole. So I have to have an ultrasound. She said not to worry about not being on medication for a while as ladies who are waiting for surgery are sometimes taken off medication as well. Still feels a bit weird though. Anyway being a lady of leisure it quite nice but I think I would get bored after a while. Regards to all. Donna xxxxx

Donna what a lovely day to have off. Wish I didn't have to go into work. But a day off for me tomorrow. Paddle boarding and a haircut. Yippee.

I had chemo no 67 yesterday. All seems to be going well. No issues. Hope everyone is able to enjoy the sunshine at least for a bit.

There are some strange people out there Terre. You'd think that man would have been grateful to you. At least you did the right thing :)

Fizzdon, enjoy your break from meds & from work! Sounds good to me.

Hope you have fun at paddle boarding tomorrow Shazza, nice to be on the water in this weather. Nice you have enough hair for a hair cut now :)

I'm hot & tired. Looking forward to my week off X starting tomorrow.

Taurus the alpaca has recovered & is able to get out with his buddies now. Phew. I was getting tired of picking grass....

    Take care all

Hi KT1966, can you read a book, or have a nap? Coming on here is a good idea. I wonder if there is anyone else who can talk to you. Haha I'm supposed to be working. My first day back after having a lovely restful week off :)

    Hi Fizzdon :)

Hope work is good & not too much of a shock to be back :P

I finally had my appt. Now I'm having my pamindronate infusion. Another 2 hours & I should be out of here. And that's it for 3 weeks. I have a couple of puzzle pages to do now (they have them here)

    Cheers

Cool, I didn't have to have Chemo, was pretty relieved I guess but also worried that maybe I should have. I think in NZ if you don't have it in your nodes, you don't get chemo. How is the house sale coming along, did you get everything done and is your Lama all better now? It is actually really good to be back at work I'm so lucky I love my job and the guys I work with are real hard cases so there are lots of laughs. The traffic on the southern motorway however that's a different story!!! Grrrrr.

Still working in the house & garden, but getting there. Taurus is much better thanks :) back with his buddies.

I know re chemo. You want to do all you can, but I've read hormonal treatment works better for ILC. I had positive nodes originally and a bit of IDC too. I'm on oral chemo & the infusion is a bone drug.

Great you like your work & workplace. It makes all the difference. I don't know how you put up with auckland traffic all the time tho! I hate it :)

Better let you get back to work now. Thanks for entertaining me

Hi Ladies.  KT I usually have my appointments first thing in the morning, maybe they haven't had the chance to get behind them.  I have never had to wait more than 30 minutes. Fizz, sad to say that work is my happy place as well.

I have my radiotherapy consultation and CT tomorrow then start rads on the 18th.  I have been pretty crap with my last chemo (I am glad it was the last one).  I am just coming right now after 12 days.  Bone pain and extreme tiredness, along with all the usual stuff, was just a little too much to handle this time).  However, I have the most crazy sprouting hair already.  No eyebrows or lashes.  Anyone know how long they take to come back?

I'm finally home! Left the hospital at 3:15

:( noticed when I got home that someone has scraped the side of my car in the car park. Not badly but I just got this car a week ago (second hand but new to me) Annoying!

    So not a great day.

Hope the CT goes well Kiwi. And that you start feeling better. I can't remember how long it takes for hair to grow back- too long ago for me.

Time to breathe a sigh of relief at being home & try & wind down.

    Have a good night

KT how boring waiting at the hospital all that time. Because of work I always ask for early appointments and I always get Midday which happens to be when I'm meant to start work in West Auckland. They are always running so late by then. Did you see young Aaron? So far I've seen him 4 clinics in a row.

Kiwi while I'm still on chemo so it might be a bit different but the hair on my head came back first then lashes, I've only just started getting eyebrows again.

Chemo no 68 for me tomorrow at 11 hope I can get a park then. It's a crap time for chemo.

Hey Shazza. I actually saw Reuben today. I usually get mid-late morning appts since I have a bit of a drive to get down to auckland. The one time I had an early appt it took 1 1/2 hours to drive bcos of the wonderful stop start morning rush...so I don't know which is worse!

The joys of waiting rooms in the public system :) At least we get good treatment.

I hope tomorrow's chemo goes well. Are you still paddle boarding?

    Have a good night

Hi Kiwi, just looking back through pictures, looks like my eyebrows and lashes were pretty much back 3 months after chemo...it's amazing how fast your hair grows once it gets going. Even though it's been back for awhile now, I appreciate it more than before...still like toput my fingers through it. And I know have curls where I had wavy hair before!

insurance - asb bank will give no medical assessment cover, also, fidelity life does too. Premiums back in the first two years, otherwise full payout

Must have just missed you Shazza.  I was waiting for my husband outside and 10.45.  It took just over an hour to get in from Botany for an 8.00am appt.  I am going to try for early morning radiation appts - maybe I can get back to work without too much delay.

Woody, I can't wait for the hair.  I met a friend today who has shaved hers off twice since finishing chemo beacause she loves the bald look - it suits her more than me.  I look like a really white egg with eyes on.  I always had great eyelashes and I miss them, I can't wait to get them back as well.  However, its a small price to pay ......

I can't fault the treatment I have had so far.  I have a friend who is a nurse practitioner in the US and she's constantly amazed by our public system and how well I have been dealt with.  We have a lot to be grateful for in this wee country of ours.

Hi Ladies, hope you are all doing well. Kiwi1966 when I did my radiotherapy I had to drive from Botany to Auckland hospital and I found the best time to be between between 11am and 1pm. The traffic seemed to be the best at those times and the parking at Auckland Hospital although it did do my head in a couple of times was do-able. It would take me 30-40 minutes one way from memory.

    Hi there everyone

I had my mammogram and ultrasound undertaken privately last Tuesday morning (after lumps were found). My doctor has still not received the radiologist's report. How long, in others' experience, does it take please?
