Hi every one. Have been reading but not writing as I don't like to complain about other health issues that are bugging me. The RA has been really bad have been checked for mets but all seems OK.
Sitting in local cafe having coffee before going to get a few groceries.
Big hugs to aall

Hi Alyson, it's really weird but I was thinking about you last night, wondering if all was well because we hadn't heard from you. So I am glad you are okay but not glad that you have other health issues. Is RA Rheumatoid Arthritis?? My 20 year old son has Lupus and suffers with it very badly, not nice It's supposed to be better in the summer?

just wondering if anyone has heard of Paddle On. It's a paddle boarding course run through pinc Pilates for Breast cancer paitents. My physio wants me to try it. We did the paper work and the fitness assesment today. Looks like a lot of fun.

Hi Alyson, hope you feel better soon.
Hi Fizzdon too
Shazza, I haven't heard of Paddle On- sounds like it could be fun I had a wee go just before Christmas. Where do they do it?
Glad you had a good time in Melbourne, bummer about the flight home though.
I'm going for a long walk soon. My son has a school camp on Great Barrier for 5 days of tramping & camping, so this will be part of the training- getting used to carrying a heavy pack. They leave at 3 in the morning on Sunday!
Take care all

hi lovies- I have just arrived back home to Wellington after a fabulous month in Mt Maunganui. It looks like the weather has been great everywhere - even Welly! Lol
Shazza so glad you enjoyed Melbourne. I went there for a long weekend with my partner during my Paclitaxol treatments in Aug 2013. It was cold and I had my wigs then but I loved visiting the place finally too. We might try and go back again at the end of this year. I hope you recovered from your lack of sleep. Such a pain when things like that happen.
Kt - your time on Waiheke sounded very relaxing and glad you had a mini break. I've only been there once - it was a girls weekend about 2008 and we hired some bicycles and rode for miles and ended up at a vineyard drinking and there was no way we were ever going to be able to bike back to the ferry! We managed to get a lift with a taxi van in the end.
Donna - like you did recently I also just went through my 'cancerversary' - found my lump on New Year's Day 2013 and was told on the phone on 7th Jan it was Breast cancer. So two years now for me. Apparently with the type of bc I had - if I can get through to 5 years then my odds are greatly improved. I'm right in the danger period now - 18 months to 3 years is peak recurrence time.
My arm has been a lot better the last couple weeks. I had a 'healing' with my friend who lives in Kerikeri and it certainly helped. Honestly - I try everything and anything now. Health is a lot more complicated than just physical - it's the whole holistic approach.
Twofer I'm thinking of trying hypnotherapy for weight gain too. I went through menopause with my treatments, am on tamoxifen because they wanted to try something/anything, and my weight is up 20 kilos too and no signs of wanting to budge! It's very depressing.
Well I had better get cracking with my day - still unpacking and sorting stuff out.
Hi to you Terre, Allyson, Nikki - been catching up on your posts too. May 2015 be kind to all of us. xx

Hi Everyone. Glad to see that you are all well and enjoying the summer. Its lovely to see everyone checking in.
I had my second to last chemo on Wednesday. Rosalie dropped the dose by 20% because I had neutropenia and had a few other side effects that she didn't think were "desirable". I have got a bad case of hand/foot syndrome which is doing my head in as well. I am still working upwards of 30 hours a week, but as I am at home I tend to start early and take myself off to bed for a few hours in the afternoon. The last infusion is due on the 18th Feb - and I can't wait.
On the upside, my son is back and school, my daughter started her course on the 12th January, so calm, order and routine have been restored to my little corner of Botany at last.

Hi all. I am in Napier as DH has business here so I decided to come along.
I have been having a lot of trouble with my lower back and the pain is really bad so finally went to the doc last week and had xray thursday. Hadn't herd so presumed it was just my old back problems playing up. My lovely doc rang yesterday and said that she was sending me to a specialist as there is 'something' pressing o the spinal cord. Hopefully it is just degeneration or a disc bulging but she doesn't know. So the waiting begins. Will need MRI to check it out. Have list of things I must watch out for and if any happen I have to get to hospital asap..
Quite happy to be out of Auckland this weekend as th League Nines are on and we live near Eden Park.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Yay, Kiwi nearly finished chemo! It will be great to get back to a new normal without chemo se's
Alyson, sorry you've been in pain. I hope you get that MRI out of the way soon & that the results are reassuring. No fun waiting. Enjoy your break away from Auckland, its always nice to have a change of scene.
Kruise- a whole month in Mt Maunganui- wow- thats nice! Glad you're feeling better. You don't look 20kg too heavy in your pic! I've put weight on too- I find its really hard to shift.
My daughter had an interview at AUT today & she's got into the course she wants- hooray! Starts on March 2, so we've got 4 weeks to find accomodation. We've finally had some rain, not enough yet but it helps. So humid! I hope the weather is kind to my son when he's tramping/camping on the Barrier

Hi all,
Glad you're almost done with chemo, Kiwi. Congrats on that!
Alyson - hope they get your back pain sorted soon.
I'm off to a photography class with Simon Woolf this weekend. And it's supposed to rain! Darn! I know we need the rain, but I'm loving the sunshine. Had my CT scan Wed, no results yet. So the class will keep my mind occupied, I'm sure.
Congrats to your daughter, kt!
Welcome home Kruise! I got another phase of work up in Petone, so we definitely need to catch up for a coffee. I'm in Auckland the week of the 16th but hopefully am home the rest of the month.
Hugs to all,
Terre

Hi All
My ipad broke a week or so ago so I've not been on here since. It's been quite strange not having it. I got a replacement yesterday so am board online!
It sounds like you had a fab time and Melbourne Shazza and I'm glad to enjoyed Waiheke KT. What was the sculpture walk like? I'm quite keen to do it and think it goes for another week or two.
I'm see the specialist on Wednesday re ooph. Will let you know how I get on.
Twofer. I too struggle with my weight! I haven't had such dramatic weight gain but it's an ongoing struggle. I don't have any advice for you I'm afraid.
Shazza - I've heard of Paddle On. It's the paddle board rehabilitation programme funded by Paddle for Hope in conjunction with Pinc Steel & Pilates trust. I've seen a few things about it and thought I might sign up. I've found paddle boarding to be really helpful in building back up arm strength after surgery and increasing general mobility.
It's my youngest 10th birthday today. We have a whole houseful of 10 year old girls arriving in less than an hour. I'd better get on ...

I hope you enjoyed your photography course Terre and that your CT results are good. Waiting for results is a pain.
Kiwi I , hope your appt goes well on Wednesday - I'll be very interested in what you learn
I figure with ER+ bc, having lots of oestrogen floating around cant be good, even if I am on chemo. I'll be interested to hear what my onc says too.
The sculpture walk on waiheke was great. Good to get some exercise & have interesting things to look at (some of them were fantastic) as well as nice views of the gulf. Win win
I hope the birthday party went well. Lots of noise & fun I'm sure.
Well my son is on Great Barrier now, dropped him off at the boat at 2:30 in the morning - yawn.
My daughter has organised to share a house with a friend. It's a bit of a commute to tech but cheaper than living right in town. So hard to get good flats at the moment.
Hope you're all enjoying your weekend

hope everyone is going ok. I had a great girls weekend a Whangamata. Exhausted as had chemo this morning no 64 then we were flat out at work this afternoon. Wish the dishes weren't waiting for me

Hi all,
Got results and they were good. No evidence of active mets anywhere. And the bones damaged by the cancer are growing back. two years stable on Femara.
Hugs to all,
Terre

Yay, that's great news Terre. Doing the happy dance for you now.

Just checking in and so glad to see that everyone is well.
We had an interesting weekend with my husband admitted to Middlemore with blood clots on both lungs. They couldn't find any clinical reason for them (90% have no known cause) and he's now being injected with blood thinners twice a day (I am doing that job) and came home yesterday. They were, of course, looking for cancer of some description, but thankfully didn't find anything. It was a very tense time as I was imagining the worst and wondering how the hell I would manage this. Anyway its ok now. Being a visitor in hospital when you're neutropenic isn't a great idea obviously, but they were great with both of us.
The Taxotere is kicking my butt again, last time my WBC dropped to 0.97, before going back up to 7.71. I feel that I am very low now, but I am nearly there.
Happy Wednesday everyone :-)

Congratulations Terre. Long may it continue! I received similar results yesterday - and me too with the two years on Letrozole. I'm getting a lot of the common and "uncommon" SE but I'll hang on with these results :-)
Sorry to read about your DH, Kiwi. Thankful he's not joining the "club". Take care of yourself.
Cheers, Anne

Oh Kiwi - how awful and stressful for both of you! Hope they get your DH's situation sorted out soon. And hope you feel better soon.
Thanks for the kind thoughts Shazza and Twofer. And Congrats to Twofer! High five!!!

Yay Terre & Twofer for good results!
Wow, Kiwi1966- that must have been scary- hope DH's clots are resolved soon. It will be good when you're finally done with chemo- not long now.
Day off work for me today- I should get motivated & do some jobs around here- hard to get motivated in the humidity...

Oh and Shazza- another girls weekend! Wow, fun, but how do you find the energy?!
0 -
KT I'll always find the energy for a girls weekend, especially when there are cocktails involved house work now that's something I never seem to have energy for
0 -
Hah, can totally relate re the housework :P
Thank goodness we have a long weekend! We have a skip to fill & mulch to spread (we have a big property so it's taking a while to pretty it up for sale!)
Have a good weekend everyone

Saw my surgeon on Wednesday - Lois Eva. Oophorectomy is booked in for Monday 9 March. It's an overnight stay and then a week off work. I'm keen to get it over with!
It's a bit of a grey Waitangi Day up here in Auckland. I hope the sun is shining where you are. Happy Waitangi Day all!

Hope you are all having another great long weekend.
We had family around yesterday and did some work around the garden today which I shouldn't have done but at least I know why I am so sore and can't move. Can't get a specialist appointment for weeks and that's a private one but see my breast surgeon in ten days so she might be able to get me an MRI.
Big hugs

Alyson - I hope you get that MRI and your back problems are nothing significant! Let us know.
Either way I'm sorry you're in discomfort!
0 -
Hi
You still haven't had your MRI Alyson- thats slow, I hope you get it soon. Take it easy in the meantime!
KiwiMum- not too long to wait for the ooph. It will be good to get it out of the way. I'll ask about doing the same when I see the onc on Wednesday...or at least see if I need ovarian suppression.
I'm bored today- spent most of the weekend doing jobs, so feeling a bit stir crazy. Will prob go to the movies- I want to see Kingsman, my daughter saw it last night & said it was good. Just need to get out of the house.
Back to work tomorrow,...

Hi guys, glad you are all doing well, sorry to hear about your husband Kiwi 1966 and I hope he is getting better. Sorry to hear that you haven't been well either Alyson, I hope you get your results soon. I've had a bloody headache on and off for months now. I know it can be a side effect of Letrozole so haven't been too worried about it. However it was so bad over the weekend that I just wanted to lay down all the time. My Mum took me to the Doctor yesterday and my blood pressure was 193/190, it was so high the machine had to have 3 goes to actually measure it. So something isn't right. The doctor put me on blood pressure tablets and I have to go and see my own Doctor on Wednesday. So now not only am I worried about cancer coming back but now my overactive imagination thinks I might have a stroke or a heart attack. Sorry to moan but I'm really over it today. I'm so busy at work and there is so much pressure plus I've got a funeral today or a friends mum who died of a stroke. Thanks for listening. Hope you all have a nice week.

Geeze, Fizz. Hope your week gets better and your blood pressure gets sorted out. That's no fun at all! And quite scary. Glad you went to the doc when you did. Sorry for your loss; one thing after another, isn't it?
Sending hugs to all,
Terre

Hi again.
Hope you're going better now Fizzdon, a bit scary about the blood pressure.
I had my onc appt today - saw yet another registrar, he was nice enough, but they seem so young! It's probably just me getting old... I asked about ovarian suppression and he said it's more for prevention of bc spread, once it's metastasized it doesn't matter about the oestrogen- so no ooph or ovarian supp for me.
Good news is my tumour markers came down 100points! Yippee.
Had a nice day out after that- cafe lunch with my mum, sister, brother & niece
Home again now, time for a rest as I'm knackered again! Not cooking tonight- got some sushi on the way home
Hope everyone's having a good week

KT great news about your tumour markers coming down. I agree the registrar's seem so young. for ages I saw a different one each clinic so I never bother remembering their names. suddenly I see the same one 3 clinics in a row!!! I found out at chemo that his name is Aaron. Now I'll never see him again
Fizz hope you are feeling better.
I start the Paddle On course tomorrow. Hope I dont fall in the water too many times
0 -
Wow Shazza- it was Aaron I had today!
Enjoy the paddle boarding tomorrow I was surprised how easy it was to stand up on one, mind you I didn't do anything to strenuous as I was fully clothed & didn't have a spare set when I tried (it was an inflatable one- so might be easier?)
Anyway- hope you have lots of fun! At least it's warm at the mo
