karabesque - thank you. The Benefit makeup person at Ulta showed me how the use this gel stuff from Anastasia, but the left one always looks wonky to me. Day 3 of Taxol is when the SEs really kick in for me and I feel exactly as you describe. I was able to take Motrin, which helped some, and now instead, I am taking 10 mg of prednisone for days 3-5, which also helps.

FUCancer - so sorry you're still feeling bad. hugs to you.

Penny- My MO did tell me to keep dexamthazone on hand in case I felt I needed it. I wonder if it would help like your pretnezone?

FUCancer - how do you know you have lung issues?? I have a cough I can't shake and MO thinks it's the taxol?

Princess - I was having low grade fevers, shortness of breath, lightheaded that they attributed initially to dehydration...even though my labs did not indicate dehydration. Started to develop a tightness in my upper chest, the kind that it's a little sore when you breathe in deeply & an occasional dry cough. They did a CT scan at that point & a lung functioning test. Dx pulmonary toxicity from Taxol

I also have had a cough I cannot shake for 5 weeks now. I am finally on a Z pac which has helped only marginally at best. I see MO tomorrow. He was unconcerned last time since my lungs sounded clear (and I was not concerned either), but I may push the issue a little further to assess the cough. Mostly I just want to make sure I don't have pneumonia, because I have had that several times before I hope the lung issues clear soon. It is scary what these drugs can sometimes do.

I just wanted to show off my new Polly's Ponytail! I wore it for the first time tonight and it's the first time in months I felt normal. I need to figure out some other ways to wear it. Its hair sewn to the black band so pony tail, buns, maybe a braid???

I ended up taking mgs of dexamethazone and it enabled me to go to the movies! Maybe just for day 3....

FUCancer I know where your coming from. I had lung damage first time around 5 years ago (not Taxol). However I was left with some permanent lung damage prior to my lung mets from my chemo (mets also in liver and bones). I also have had a difficult time with Taxol and many complications unlike many of the ladies here who have had few. I pray for you that the effects of this lessen in time and the benefits of the Taxol prevail. I know it how it makes you feel like "Why Me"? I too have felt that. Your not alone. Please keep posting and I would offer my support to you any way I can. Huggsss!!

FUCancer, ummm that is my exact situation? I feel like there's a heavy ring around my collarbone when I try to take a deep breath?? Low grade fever constantly, check. Shortness of breath, check. I went from running 4 miles IN A ROW at the end of AC to now maybe making .25 at best. What do I ask them to check for??

Princess - when I was complaining of chest pain, shortness of breath and pain in my lungs, they did a chest xray, CT scan, EKG. I had no fever, but they gave me 4 days of steroids and it really helped. My PCP thought maybe i had bronchitis - I used to get it a lot. Because of the fever, I would call you onc. Thinking of you.

Tonia, the polly's ponies are made by a lady in Australia so they take a month from order to arrival. Just plan for that. For me, it was worth the wait. I love my wig, but this is cooler for this hot weather

Princess- I would read up on pulmonary toxicity from taxol online. The way they diagnosed it for mewas by CT scan & lung functioning tests. There is another condition it could be, an atypical infection. They would have to do a bronchoscopy to determine that. I wanted to start with the toxicity issue & treat with steroids first doc was in agreement with this. Been on the steroids for a week with no big improvement, but things are not worse. I check in with the pulmonologist tomorrow & we'll see how he wants to proceed.

Thank you Cathy for the support!

I too am having some pain where ovaries are?? Kinda like menstral cramps...... but I can't tell if that is just part of the muscle aches or not???

Anyone else really snippy? LOL I just have the shortest fuse! It could be from not sleeping well I guess, stupid hot flashes! It seems that I really have to concentrate lately on not flying off the handle about little things with my Hubs and boys. I am going to go ahead and blame it on this wonderful poison! :)

I had ovary pain or what felt like it last week too, and have only done 2 taxols so far. def felt like cramps!

And omg I'm so snippy Leigh. It's BAD! I think its a combination of the chemo, the lack of sleep, the hot flashes....but also I think it's due to me realizing that the small things people always complain about are trivial now. I've been telling friends to get over their whining, I don't want to hear their complaining, etc. The guy you were dating didn't call you? Sorry, get over it. Move on. lol I've been so bad lately :(

Leigh - holy crap. I am so snippy or just a downright bitch. I think mine is from the hot flashes which leads to lack of sleep. (same as you) I also have a terminal eye twitch. I feel like anytime someone talks to me they can see it.

Anyone NOT icing hands/feet during Taxol? My mom did weekly Taxol 3 years ago, didn't ice, and didn't have any major nail/neuropathy issues so I'm hoping that's hereditary! Honestly I'd probably give icing a try but I'm just too lazy. Just wanted to see if anyone else is forgoing it due to the hassle! ;)

Not icing here.... Mo didn't think it would help and I didn't want the hassel..... MO also gave me the... oh that usually doesn't happen in younger women speech..... but I am taking L-Glutimine to hopefully ward it off.

Mo also gave a me a script for a blood pressure medicine to help with hot flashes and sleep... told me to try it for a week. Guess what .. doesn't work.. going to ask for ambien or Xanax this week. I am sooooo tired!!! :)

I've been exhausted too. My MO told me to just try benadryl or some other sleep aid. I've been trying ZzzQuill the past few nights. Still not sure if it's helping.

I didn't ice during weekly Taxol & was just fine too. I did take L-Glutamine though.

I have Ambien also but I still wake around 2:00 and can't fall back asleep. I tried Ambien CR and that was way better but now my insurance won't cover it. I also found taking 2 Melatonin supplements (3 mg each) about 30 minutes before bed works wonders for me. Worth a try!

I feel more tired now that chemo is over than I did during it. What the heck?!

No icing here. Doing one dose of Glutamine and day and minor tingling only. No numbness whatsoever. I think Benedryl would be good if you like it. I think that's why the nasal congestion, running, nosebleeds stop on days 1-3 after each infusion. The benedryl dries you up. But be aware that you need to maybe drink more fluids to compensate for the drying up thing that the antihistamine does. Nice grammar, eh? lol

Sorry. I am tired. Had #9 today. I think my MO was trying to be a drama queen and kind of walked through whether to give it to me because my pulse rate is high and because of my UTI. But in the end, she did it.
