Mamabexar-
Did you lose your hair on weekly taxol? If so, when and what was that process like?
Thanks
Jodi

I started to lose my hair at the fourth week and then cut my hair short. I never lost all of it though and it was getting pretty thin by the 12th week

Jodi, my treatment had minimal SE and they were goofy ones through out. The normal was never could sleep first night and tired on day 3&4. Then on day four after a few weeks I started to break out on my face, but would go away after a few days. Closer to the end my mouth had a burnt, numb feeling to it and could not taste food. I may be forgetting some, but as I said they were nothing to bad. I did walk everyday and made sure to drink my water everyday.
You can do this Jodi, stay strong

My first hair loss came @ day# 20 and just got worse. I still had about half at day #30 but saw a photo and could see how dead my hair looked. I had it buzzed but wish I had left some of it. It is coming back already.

I forgot about the dry nose all the time, I'm in Las Vegas so very dry here. A humidifier helped when sleeping and the AYR nasal saline.
Also eyebrows and eyelashes fell out a couple weeks after PFC. They grew back quick

I'm surprised to read about all the hair loss on the weekly Taxol, I thought since the dosage was so much lower it was supposed to be easier on the hair. I will still be cold capping - just a general thought

I start taxol, herceptin amd perjeta on Tuesday. I am so incredibly nervous about the infusion and not knowing what side effects I'll have then or after.
Anyone else getting herceptin amd perjeta with their weekly taxol?

Homeschool4us
It's understandable that you are nervous, but you will do just fine. You did the AC. Now it will be easier on Taxol. Wish you the best of luck, and hopefully you will not have any side affects at all.

Homeschool4us, I had herceptin and weekly taxol but not perjeta. If you have a reaction they will just slow the infusion down and give you some anti-allergy medication. Nothing terrible will happen. The very worst thing will be feeling like you've got a moderate dose of flu. And that probably won't happen. Oh, and I used to get a red rash on my feet that lasted 3 days, it was worst when I wore tight shoes. I could even draw faces in it :-). The onco said it was harmless, and so it turned out.

Homeschool4us: I had T/H/P. It's not so bad. They watch you closely for the first couple of infusions because if someone has an allergic reaction, it will be the first or second time. But that's pretty rare. The first time took 5 hours, and after that it was about three all together with the pre-meds. SEs: the steroids hop you up. I was fairly wired the day after the infusion. My skin broke out like a teenager's, and the dermatologist gave me something that worked right away. The worst side effect was diarrhea. After some trial and error, I managed it by eating carefully on the first few days after the infusion. The worst of that was after some rich food. I had H and P every three weeks, and the diarrhea was worst on those weeks, but it was only awful a couple of times when I didn't watch the eating. I tried to walk every day, just for exercise, and that worked well. I found one pre-med that I couldn't tolerate was Benadryl; they switched me to hydroxyzine. Good luck!

Homeschool...I had the really bad taxol reaction. Twice. Full force. But everyone knew just what to do and the team was ready for it. It was over so fast and I was better really quick. So if it does happen, which is rare, it will be fixed right away. They know just what to.do. Hugs and good luck.

It's great to read all of your situations, thank you for sharing. It doesn't freak me out as much, starting Taxol soon, it'll be my first chemo. I can see that some of you have made it through and some of us are just starting, but we can do this.

Angtee15 - My taxol today went good. I had a bit of restless legs which kept me from dozing off....but it was tolerable. I didn't think to look in my nose for hair, been having dry and bloody gunk exiting...
Hope yours was smooth!!

Today was my first perjeta, herceptin, and taxol. I had no reactions at all. I did ask for compazine as I felt slightly nauseous. Otherwise, so far so good! My dose is 147 mg.

Anybody feel like they have the flu from taxol? Trying to figure out if it's my last dose or if I'm really sick. I have had sinus problems for probably the last 6 weeks but I blame the taxol drying me out and missing nose hair. I am aching from my head to my feet, like every muscle and joint throbs. And I feel like my skin is crawling, clothes almost hurt to wear. Went to my pcp today and he said since I haven't had a fever it's probably just a sinus infection and gave me a zpack. I can't sleep body aches are so bad. Wondering if this one last SE or if I should go to urgent care tomorow

Julie,
I had a sore throat by my second taxol, I wasn't sick ( went to the doc no fever etc) but my ENT gave me something called AYR ( over the counter) it's a cream which provides the moisture the nose needs, especially with no nasal hair! It worked great

Home from Taxol #2 - Feeling a little tired but happy to say #2 was as uneventful as #1. I started with the breakouts on my neck and chest last weekend which I am a little bummed about. My kids are 10 & 13 and are used to me being healthy and full of energy; the physical side effects of all of this are going to be tough for them to handle. Hoping to still have my hair thru the holidays

Thanks to everyone for sharing your stories and journey on weekly taxol. It's encouraging to read and good to know others are doing well in this fight to defeat breast cancer. I'm just now joining the group, although I started my first taxol on December 4. This Friday will be my 3rd treatment. Thankful that side effects have been manageable so far....mild nausea, fatigue and breakouts on my face & neck. No hair loss yet for which I am thrilled! Hoping to keep my hair, but time will tell. I've been able to work half days 3-4 days per week so far; thankful for flexible and understanding boss & co-workers. Praying for strength, minimal side effects and VICTORY for all of us!

End of day 2 of first taxol amd my hands and feet burned then and this morning also. Anyone else experience this? Please tell me it's not the beginning of neuropathy on round one already!

Hi homeschool4us! Sorry to hear you about your hands and feet. I was reading about Hand and Foot syndrome... Did they give you information about that? I was told to keep socks on my feet and be careful about friction with rubbing your feet and hands.
My major SE so far with weekly Taxol (2 rounds) has been some high blood pressure issues. I started a low dose bp med yesterday to try and get it under control. Anyone else having blood pressure issues?
Hang in there ladies!

MamaBear/Julie-I am starting to feel better, weird that it didn't hit me until #12 but glad it is subsiding. I even took some vicodin the other night before bed and it didn't help! I am sorry you deal with it after every infusion!
AngTee--I had BP issues right after diagnosis I went from always be on the low end of normal for BP to skyrocketing every time I hit a doctors office. They said it was definitely stress of the diagnosis and called it "white coat syndrome" since it was worse at an office even if I was just going in for a simple scan, like the echocardiogram. My PCP put me on a low dose med and it helped right away, I tried going off it after Taxol round 6 since my stress is definitely a lot less now but my BP was back up within 2 weeks so MO said to keep on it, might be treatment related now. I'll try to get off it again in a few months after my surgery and possible radiation is done!
