I wasn't going to post again this year but thought - with theme of dog photos - this cartoon might raise a smile. Anyone see their dog in this? (In our house, my husband would be the one ignoring the dog so he was given this as a birthday present

    Deanna

I'm fine after the fall. Thanks for asking. One of those careless moments but no harm done except to my wallet!

    HNY to you

    Bosco,

Love the dog cartoon! That's pretty much what happens in my house when I come home from work.

HI all - definitely will post pics this evening. Got some taken and camera battery died, so no pics of the front, but got pics from the back of the house.

And..I was wrong and I apologise! I got educated. The news here keeps saying NZ is the first to get New Years, but that's not correct. Christmas Island and Samoa are ahead of us. So apologies for posting misinformation. Should have checked my facts better. However, suffice it to say that it happens her a day before the US. :)

Glad you're ok after the fall Bosco and love the dog cartoon!

    Deanna - great post!

Chelle, Rachel, Patty, Amy, Annie, your posts make me smile.

    Hi All!

I wasn't going to post again this year, but in reading Terre's post about being first (or almost first) to celebrate the NY, I am almost the tail end. Pacific time zone is UTC-8 (I think & I'm too lazy to go back & check, someone will tell me if I'm wrong) So long after all of you have gone to bed, we'll still be waiting for midnight!

Feel kind of cruddy after infusion today. Hoping it settles down. Infusion RN's & I were celebrating that I've made it through another year! YAY!

If you're going to be up dancing on tables tonight girls, don't fall off!! Not good for your bone mets! ;-) Enjoy, cheers, Dee

Ha ha Dee...I have visions of us dancing on tables celebrating another year. I'm praying for an end to breast cancer and certainly a cure for MBC.

    Happy New Year!!!

Mom was dIscharged to a subacute rehab today. Scary what the future holds but finally tonight I enjoyed a little holiday celebration with my husband. Wishing you and your families a happy 2016. Much love to you, my new friends.

Ok...I finally got a few house pictures. Of course, the camera battery died and I can't find the charger. Oh well! Shot of some of our citrus trees. That's Frida under the cabbage tree. And our back porch. There's more at my Flickr page...https://www.flickr.com/photos/sparkleinlv/?

    Suems,

What you describe sounds very similar to my experience. After diagnosis and mastectomy, on the very day of the first scheduled chemotherapy treatment I was told to go to a waiting area instead of the treatment room with the recliners. The oncologist then told me it was already stage IV and that the port shouldn't have been put in, incurable, etc. I still remember him saying, "You must have had this for years!" Still can't believe they all missed the different areas in the initial MRIs. I feel incredibly stupid for having that mastectomy.

Terre, loved the pics of the house & cats, esp Moppet watching the rugby match. I love steampunk, you've got some interesting shots there. Cheers, Dee

Thanks, Dee. The steampunk museum is amazing. My photos don't do it justice. My DH has some steampunk pics too: https://www.flickr.com/photos/grumpysaurus

The name he usually uses for his stuff was taken on flickr, so he was trying to decide what to use. He loves dinosaurs, history, etc., and is a self-described grumpy old man, so I suggested grumpysaurus. :) If you scroll through his stuff, you'll see some lovely pics; and this is his "junk" photo storage place.

terre. - thanks for the pics. Love that huge back porch area !

Bosco. Love the dog pic. Hilarious. Seeing that big dog in his lap reminded me of my dog jasmine. She was a golden retriever \ lab mix. She died last year at 11 years old. I still miss her. Anyway she LOVED to ride on the riding lawn mower with dh. Too funny I'll have to find a pic of it too post. Huge dog rudingbon dh's lap. Many cars would stop and stare. I know. Redneck country Hicks.

Dee. - sorry the infusion has you feeling yucky

Love the pics Terre..you have orange trees! Lucky they smell amazing when they flower.  The house is adorable I agree with Linda tea sounds great.

Come on over for tea anytime! Except next week. I'll be in Auckland. But any other time! :) It's pouring rain today so no pics of the front of the house, but I'll get some eventually. It's a 1952-built house with a decor "update" in the 70s. As one friend put it, it's a diamond in the rough. The porch is actually nicer than it photographs and part of it has a roof and walls (with windows) so I can sit out there even in the rain.

Wendy - was it you that had been to NZ and loved the cabbage trees? I put the cabbage tree in just for you (or if it wasn't you...the person who loved cabbage trees!).

I picked a huge laundry basket full of oranges, grapefruit and lemons a few days ago and donated them. The oranges are outrageously good - you need to eat them outdoors or over the sink because you get orange juice everywhere. I gave some to a friend (a Kiwi) and she said she's never had such amazing oranges. They look a little funky because they've never been sprayed - all organic. She also said that you can peel the grapefruit and eat it like an orange - no sugar required. Haven't tried them yet - not supposed to have them with Femara - but I will eat one before the season is through.

    Sending hugs to all!

I went to an engagement party last nt, when I was parking my car in the driveway was exactly 12AM, fireworks went off just then all around, hubby and I had a real good laugh.

Patty what a bummer - just a little bit of peace, right??

Dee - why was the infusion so difficult this time?

Karen can't understand what kind of MO you have? Even if they found mets, they could still use the port for txs, so what attitude is that?? And suave he is not, I guess.

Chelle - thx, yes she is a truly incredible person. She is always thinking what she could do for someone else, and can't stand any attention towards her.

Terre - there now you made everyone happy! What nice tranquil place it is. Good for you.

Annie how are you these days?

Deanna how are you coming along?

Bosco you sure had an angel with you! And what company you had!! Looked liked one of those shows I like to watch to relax...

rnsparki Dani also has mets pushing through th Dura you could actually see it, we'll see what Pet/CT and then Brain MRI will show next week. How often do they scan that area?

Nicki you know just today I was helping an older neighbor get info re: rehab she has a few issues ended up in Hospital, and now needs rehab, and one admin. told me that in her case it's not so bad, but cancer patients they refuse many times, because a lot of the meds that cancer patients need are not covered, so it is not worth it for them to take these ppl in. Not profitable, was the word he used. I wake up at 2:45 and have not good thoughts! let's just say, so I try to take something to sleep. I know where you are at. Try to take something. It's very debilitating not to sleep.

Wendy oh thanks for the gorgeous picture!

Ellen how is it they never did a PET/CT? I thought in the States it was always done

    Cristina meeting sister yet?

    Take good care everyone

Yes dear Terra it was me I spent two weeks in New Zeland in 2000. Climbed Mount Maganewie okay I spelled that sooo wrong but you know where I mean. I stayed in Thames and spent most of my time walking and sitting in the bush. I would have moved there in a flash. Funny you can visit all kinds of places in the world but only a few touch your soul. For some it's Africa for me it was NZ. You are very lucky New Zealand ....kitties....and a cabbage tree😊

    Momallthetime--oh I had a CT scan. I thought a PET was different.

Karen--I can relate. My port appointment was cancelled at the last minute due to discovering mets. I had had a mastectomy 6 weeks earlier. Was the mastectomy unnecessary?

On the port issue... I had my port put in (and suffered a complete pneumothorax, via a nick in the lung. Put me in hospital for a week and sent me home with a portable chest tube for 4 weeks. Chances of this happening? 1%!), during the brief period of time it was thought I was IIB. Never had chemo, but did use it for 16 Aredia tx. I still use it for blood draws and PET scans. I will probably need IV chemo one day, so I'm keeping it in. However, if I had knownthat I was stage IV earlier, with no chemo, I would have skipped the port.

As to the bmx, I too had one, but don't regret it since the primary tumor is gone. This may, or may not make a bit of difference, but I'm happy it's gone and I had an easy and well done recon. Don't look back too much as we can't change the past. Take care.

Patty not sure if this helps but my hip was in bad shape. It's healed itself, no rads, nothing, just taxotere, Herceptin, Perjeta and Zometa. I'm glad I waited.

Caryn. I am also glad that the primary tumor is gone. I am a very laid back person so I don't stress too much about what ifs. MRI breast scans didn't pick up anything in my nodes so during surgery when 10/13 came up positive they were a bit surprised.
