So now I feel like a human again. Last couple days were hard felt like an elephant was on my chest. Woke this morning and I feel like a new person thank god. I don't need a scan to know the liver tumour is smaller I can eat again yeah. Feeling very hopeful , so now all of us with crappy scans and appointments this is the turning point. Wendy, so happy to hear you're feeling better! I see that liver met just melting away.
Chelle, you had been on my mind for days and then I check in and there you are! So glad to hear you're stable but so sorry for everything dh has gone through! Several of our friends are Police Officers and I have the utmost respect for them. I don't think people realize how they risk their lives for us everyday. Praying for your husband's complete recovery.
Hugs to all you!

Wanted to share this with all of you since it has been a tough week for many of us. My dear friend sent this incredible bouquet to me yesterday when she heard about my progression and switch to Ibrance and Femara. Let's keep going, and move forward. The strength in this group is palpable. Best to all......

EFF U, Mr. Cancer!!!!
You had me in TEARS last Sunday. I had to LEAVE Safeway b4 I finished all my shopping and then send DH back to get BF's 60th B'day cake and the ice cream, etc. I just couldn't take the pain anymore while standing in line.
So of course there was NO WAY I could walk around the store this morning after my new adventures in metastatic pain, coursing thru my right thigh and lower spine, even wrapping around to the groin, too. Well, the pain was even worse today after only my 2nd Rx treatment - and that's even after I loaded up on hydrocodone (Norco) B4 the zapping. RO said pain might get worse this time around b4 it gets better. (I had 10 rads sessions to upper thoracic spine a year ago, and it wasn't this bad...oh well.)
Eight more to go...at least I get a break for 2 days. RO says it may take up to two months after rads b4 we know whether it will really help the pain or not, sigh.
The scooter wasn't too bad, but you have to keep climbing off to reach the upper shelves (.
I don't consider this a new, degrading "LOW," I consider it a momentary victory. So what if I now have to sit to do everything?
Let's not let cancer take our lives away. We just have to heave a sigh, find a way to adapt and keep moving, despite the pain.
And don't forget to buy yourself some flowers once in a while...L

lita~ you have the sweetest smile. I am always praying for you and you look Darn good in that hat. I have some bone pain also, so I can't imagine how you're feeling . I am sending hugs of strength and hope that with each treatment you'll kill more of those buggers!!! It's a shame there weren't two scooters. You and DH could have raced lol. That sounds like fun! 💜Color of hope!
~M~

Adorable photo, Lita. I'm just sorry your earlier shopping trip had to be aborted, but we all know that feeling when you reach a point where you just can't stand another minute and have got to sit down. And so glad RT is underway. Hoping and praying you get much relief.
And Linda, thank you for sharing those gorgeous tulips with us! They're absolutely beautiful!
Wendy, I'm very relieved to hear you're feeling better!
Chelle, the details of your DH's accident are sickening. Many prayers that he will to continue to improve and regain his strength.
Carol (LovesMaltese) is still too sick to get on-line, but she very much appreciates your caring and prayers. She is hoping to get a second opinion re. the pain her medical team at DF seems unable to identify and adequately treat.
Started my 2nd Xeloda cycle today. Never thought I'd be so happy to be popping chemo meds, but being off them a week so soon after starting them did not make me comfortable at all, so I was actually quite happy to restart them today.
Linda, any news? I know you don't always hear quickly in Canada. Thinking of you...
Welcome to the new posters. I hope everyone has a lovely Easter weekend. Deanna

Lita,
I remember my cart days at Target. I wasn't unhappy about it either. At that point I was thrilled to be out of the hospital and able to get out of the house!!
Love the hat, the flowers, and your smile.

Deanna - thanks for checking on me. No news yet, this snail medical service will drive me crazy one day. Not any better, but not any worse.
Babs- thinking of you as you wait for results!

LindaE, I hope you are spending Easter with your family so it will help pass the time while you wait and wait and wait for scan results.
Babs, I hope you are feeling good and that chemo hasn't caused any serious SEs. Do you know how long it will take for you to get the results of your scans?
Deanna, what is your schedule for your Xeloda cycle? Have they increased the dose?
Lita, you look beautiful in the picture. I love the hat, and the scooter is just another accessory. I swear that some people use the scooters to run over people who aren't on their best behavior, so you might want to file that thought away for future use.
Lindalou, thank you for posting the picture of the flowers. What a nice surprise. Your friend is so thoughtful. I love tulips. They are delicate and strong-looking at the same time, and every color is beautiful. My Dad used to bring tulips for me every Easter.
Wendy, I am glad to hear that you are feeling better. You have shown us many times that you are a strong, determined women. That liver met doesn't stand a chance.
Have a good weekend, everyone. Happy Easter to all who celebrate it. I am grateful to live to see another spring, and I plan to be here to say that again to all of you next year, and the next year, and on and on.
With prayers, hope, and hugs to all,
Lynne

I have an open question for anyone who has done chemo. I was told on Taxol day three and four would be rough but then I would feel better. Yesterday was a good day walked the dog a bit (not far) and was able to stay upright for most of the day. Today I went wig shopping and almost passed out in the store then went to get some Easter candy for my grown children and had to sit all over the grocery store. Am I not dealing with it well or is this normal. I feel shaky, weak , dizzy and a bit nauseous. I hate this I want to be active is this what I'm looking at for the next six months

Wendy- day three was the pits for me. I had a weird reaction. My skin hurt everywhere. Hurt to touch. Even hurt to sleep. I was tired most of the time on Taxol. I think I napped every day. Sorry you are having a hard time.
Hugs... Diana

Lita,
Nothing wrong with using whatever you need to make your life a little easier. I love using the store carts, my grandson loves taking rides with me! I hope you feel better soon.

Wendy, when I did Taxotere + Cytoxan in 2008, I had my infusions on either Wednesday or Thursday (not sure which now), and without fail, by Friday evening I was down for two days with flu-like symptoms. After the first one, I made a point of having a good book or two ready to hunker down with, but no way could I have gone shopping when that hit. I was way too dizzy and bleh feeling, even with anti nausea meds. Are you getting steroids with your infusions? That's what keeps the worst symptoms from hitting immediately. The good news is, it should pass in 48 hours, but it does sound pretty normal.

Wendy, I'm currently doing chemo but I'm on Abraxane (a cousin to taxol) due to a severe allergic reaction. My infusion is Monday and about Thursday/Friday I get hit with body aches (like the flu), I take a tramadol and I'm back to normal the next day. I've never felt that brought down by it though, definitely tell your MO. If you can't tolerate it, maybe they can give you what I'm on. It's mixed with human protein instead of a chemical and seems to be easier on people but very effective. I hope it all calms down for you soon.

Wendy,
I have my Taxol infusions on either Thursday or Friday nights. I'm tired but otherwise I do fine. The first 1-2 treatments I felt a bit shaky. Talk to the chemo nurse tell her your SE's -maybe they'll lower the dosage of the pre-meds. I've been on Taxol since December and find it very tolerable.

Wendy~. I also was on Abraxane because of allergic reactions. It is powerful stuff. If I am honest I didn't go anywhere during the entire time if I didn't absolutely have to. You really need a lot of water and fluids. I would pack my body full of Aleve & claritan two days before the treatment and continue two days after , And I always made sure that I was actually eating something during the treatment that helped me with the nausea and dizziness. Also, ask your nurse to slow down the drip feed of your medication. The first time I had it, it was delivered too quickly and I had terrible headache! Also ask for Ativan as part of your premeds with some Benadryl also. The Benadryl will fight some of the inflammation from the body trying to accept this foreign substance. But those things worked for me. Just so you're ready for what happens in order usually. After two treatments, your scalp will start to itch a little, and then it will start to feel like it's burned. (Like sunburn burn does) No one told me this, and it hit me hard and I didn't know what was going on. I wish someone would have told me what it would feel like, right before the shedding of my hair. It lasted about a week. Always drink a ton of water because you want to filter the toxins out of your body quickly. I did three weeks on And one week off. The week off I felt pretty good. But be careful when you do go out because your immune system is toast. I would stay home or wear a mask when you go out because, I saw doc Friday and he said allergies are terrible and so is the respiratory infections are running rampant. Which I now have. Wash your hands a lot also. Something else no one told me about And I learned fast was to purchase a sleeping cap. When your hair does go, your head will be cold at night when you sleep. I found out the hard way. I bought one really quickly, along with several others for day time, I started hating my wig, those things are hot! You're a strong woman Wendy, abraxane did wonders for me and helped me a lot. It's aggressive chemo. But it works. I also chose to receive Abraxane because it does not require steroids, which I am allergic to. The steroids alone can make you dizzy. Never mind the weight gain!! Talk to your doctor, don't just accept how you're feeling , if you canttolerate it. My strength coming your way. 💜💜Color of hope ~M~
