Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA. Dealing with the girls and school and getting ready to go back to work. My little one has been having bad anxiety so we are dealing with that, with a doctor... more doctors
I hope everyone is well and I miss you all and think of you often. I see my MO this week so that should be fun- not! I'll try to jump on more often to stay in the loop and offer you all the support that you have so kindly given me. I'm sorry
Have a beautiful week! Hugs!0 -
Markat I'm so glad u popped in and I think we all know how busy u r---but what's going on with all the anxiety, Oh I feel bad for u;r family, but I know u will take care of this u are so in tuned to u'r family. U'r one of the first people I connected with here so u are still in my prayers--everyone is.
Lori u would like to take care of kids?? Wow u must be a very patient person, I could only NOT do that. What about an office for a pediatrician--they have so many nurses and aides noww--well u know how u go thru 2 or 3 people before u get to the Dr. just a thought.
Jazzy I'm so excited for u giving a speech, now practice in fron of a mirror for any gestures u need and speak loud even when u practice--I don't mean to loud but clearly and precisely. I know u know how to do this but it just sounds fun to me. I'd love doing things like that, u sound like u like u'r job expecially since u bought a new dress--U will look and do beautifully, I have no doubt.
Has anyone heard from Laurie Parr--I hope things are going well for her but I do know all of u who have kids this is a very busy time---Joey's finally in order for his school but it takes a while. And u have to buy so many things now, cuz everyone supplies the whole class, even Kleenex which u need but I don't remember ever seeing a box of kleenex in my class room, I wonder what we did???
Well I'm still here often, altho not so hermity just pick and choose what I like now so anything with friends or family I'm usually there--I don't care how I feel I go but going places with crowds or alot of people I don't know I don't care to anymore and I've notice my friend and family don't either so it might be just an age thing now and if my kids go out to dinner (once n a while) I don't go, cuz I think they should go alone cuz I'm here all the time but I do stay very hermity here--I'm very used to being alone and they should have their privacy too.
Jazzy if u get a chance let us know about how u'r speech went--I love to hear that stuff.
Teka as always.

Markat- good to hear from you and good luck with getting back to school. Sorry to hear about your daughter's anxiety. Hopefully the docs can help her through it.
Cami- I don't think we have heard from Laurie Parr in awhile. I know she is going through her rad treatments and hope she is doing okay.
Went to the farmers market then the health food store today. Talked to the gal at the products section about some things to help with my stiff joints, foot pain and overall dryness from the arimidex. She recommended a few things I am going to try to help with managing the SEs that seem to be bigger lately. Will let you know if anything works!
Will let you know how the presentation goes! Still working on it today!

Watching The Descendants on HBO tonight. Makes me wish I were back in Hawaii. Or maybe back in Hawaii with George Clooney.
Teka- this one is for you!

George has had a lot of lovely ladies to choose from. He is always with younger women who end up wanting to be married and have kids, and no one can blame them for that. But, he seems pretty adamant about not wanting to be married again- something must have happened in that first marriage he had to really turn him off.
I have a hard time seeing George and Eva together, but imagine what pretty babies they would have!

Hi Everyone...just checking in..it's hot and humid here, so I have been puttering around the house. Worked on my art project, can't decide if I want to hang it or tuck it away so no one can see it...lol...it is quite a menagarie of beads and paint..I worked on it till ten thirty last night. It is a good outlet, even if it is not a master piece....
I like Richard Gere myself...remember him in American Gigilo? Blah tired again..Glad you are back Markat! Later gaders.....

Hi hermit-love Richard Gere and all his movies. He has only gotten to be a better actor and more handsome through time.

Jazzy most of the handsome men look great as they get older and the beautiful women look like they have had work, which I don't blame them, but it's not the same.
I'm up for a while, It's still dark here used to be light at this time. But hot and humid this whole week--kind of miserable--I heard on the news some schools that are not air conditioned might either have different hrs. or something different because it's super hot. No one will be taking their pools down this week-end--I should be swimming Sat and Sun. probably the last time or maybe one more week--IT'S HOT. But I can't even go out it's so uncomfortable and sweaty I prefer not to. I don't think this weather helps any of us older ones with our bones so now it's worse.
I know that this sounds silly but I am so lucky I was never a go-getter, I've always bee laid back and not getting bored It's finally coming in handy the last few years. But I will say I'm glad I found all of u. And ther are a couple more threads that I'm on and I enjoy everyone and grown so fond of all of u. So this has been my big help too.

Lily- that is such a good article about cancer. Really touches on all the thoughts and emotions around it, and the things that happen afterwards sometimes once you are through the treatment. The author does a very deep and thought provoking essay on why it happens, how it happens, etc.
I can totally relate to the concept about feeling different after cancer and the feelings of not wanting to waste your time on things (or people) who don't sustain you. I have come to the very quick conclusion based on my experience on my current consulting project that I will never work for this client again. They have always been difficult to work for, but now feel totally undo-able to me most days. I think this time it will be easy to walk away and not look back.
I also notice how many of my personal relationships have or are changing too. I have some great friends who have gotten me through some very tough times the past year. I also notice some of those friends have become more distant post treatment. I have always been the kind of person who sometimes makes a bit more effort with people than they make with me, but that has now stopped. If people stop communication, initiating, or otherwise showing up, I don't bother pursuing them like I used to. I am just am open to the people who can reciprocate. So like the woman in the article, I am different and the way I spend my time and who I spend it with is changing. Cancer changes you in ways people who don't go through it cannot always understand. For me, it has brought much clarity to my life.
Cami- sorry to hear you have such intense heat, and feel sorry for the kiddos that may be in school with that right now. I am very grateful for this thread too, and all the lovely women here. This is a place I can come and share and come away feeling supported always. I too have grown fond of all the hermits here. And love the cat photo, LOL!
Blessings to everyone for a very peaceful day.

Jazzy u are a very open and honest person and it comes across--anyone who is in u'r life and is truly a friend is very lucky. And I think cancer has changed everyone of us-Alot in the same ways, but some in their own personal ways. I really would have never known before I did think well u'r done and NED so therefore everything is the same--So I'm guilty of that. Not that I knew alot of people and I hope I was always kind, but I never understood---I do now--it's just different.

Cami- thank you for your kind words. I do try to be a good friend to others, and many are good friends in return. But just re-learning the lessons of knowing when to follow through or let go with some.
I do remind myself that no one really knows what it like to be inside anyones body, to know how things feel for us now, or the emotions that come up daily that we all wrestle with. We all have our own journey in life and things to learn which belong to us uniquely.
It has felt good to have the hermits here to share with on the days that the world feels like a slightly less friendly place though! And to have a few good laughs with. Grateful for you ladies!

Lovely Teka. My mother used to have a trellis of morning glories on the front of our house growing up. You would see them out the window in the morning when you stood at the kitchen sink. So pretty.

I only have day lilies and daffodils outside my kitchen window. I have a black thumb, and day lilies and daffodils will survive anything! Would love to have more. My grandfather's yard when I was little was literally filled with flowers. People would come from all over to take pictures of them. I miss him and the beauty he created. Good memories!

Oh Bayou---our yard just has wild flowers areoun the deck--I guess u can buy seeds like that and the olors are pretty, but who knows what they are--but they must be a stron bunch too. Cuz our thumbs aren't good either.

When I was a kid I'd pick Queen Anne lace, put in water that had food coloring added. The flowers would take the water and turn that color. It was fun, at 10 yo. Wish I'd dried them.0 -
Never tried that! Don't have apple trees here, or any fruit trees. Draws rats.
