CC......hugs0 -
Hi hermits- I too had my surgery a year ago today. I will say I feel fortunate a year later to be alive, to be able to work, and take care of myself still. I am around 90-95% back and think that is where it may remain. My body is different, my energy still get sapped sometimes, but overall, I feel pretty lucky to have come through things as well as I have. I have learned a lot about myself going through this journey. I still try to take one day at a time and don't over think or over plan anything.
CC and I share this anniversary together (and we also PM about this too). May today be peaceful for you CC and for everyone else fighting the battle here.0 -
Jazzy & CC! Extraordinary! Blessings for both of you. What a cutie-pie kitten for friday, i would put that one in my robe pocket, all day! I was very sad yesterday to find out about Veggy, even tho i did not know her, i saw her name here & there, and it just really upsets me. I know this day will come eventually, to some i love or me, but it is always a shocker. i am so sorry for you who knew her well, (((hug for grannydukes))).....so sad0 -

Thanks, Teka. it was from central park, new york, 2009. only other real trip i have been on! was fun. i fell in love with central park, it was thanksgiving. do you think it would make a nice painting? i am off to first rad onc follow up since i finished in april. any body else have itching deep inside surgical side? makes me nuts, as if i wasnt nutty enough already.0 -
Ducky I know u guys are close and I know it's to soon for Granny to post so we'll certainly be patient for her to grieve someone she loves. It's all very sad.0 -
Oh CC and Jazzy 1 yr is done--and it's a relief for u to get thru this--it does take so much out of u but u'r almost back and if not, almost is always good
Kath those would be lovely to paint, they are so pretty..And I have to say last week I was so itchy I was scrating like mad and gave myself a scab and didn't feel it of course til I felt it. U feel the itch but not the scratch. Still
Teka poor Teka they don't like to travel but came home easier.0 -
took a short break..my son, and grandson called and came over for lunch.....Such a joy for me....makes me feel useful....gave them homemade soup, my homemade tuna fish sandwiches, chips, finger peppers, and for dessert.....rice pudding, fresh pineapple, and my special candy dish........of Mounds, Snickers, and Goldbergs Peanut Chews........what a lovely visit....
Now I'm back.......told them about Veggie..they will light candles for her on Sunday after Mass........0 -
Hermits- I realized I really need to be a hermit today on this anniversary. I have a cleaning service and just could not deal with them being here today so I cancelled it. So they will come another time. Kind of good to know when you need your privacy, right? More than anything, I am very tired from the week and think I just want to rest for a bit after working here at home and then go to massage.
Teka- thank you for the good wishes for Thanksgiving and back at cha! I got invited to a friends house, but she decided to change up some plans and ship her daughter to the east coast to be with her friend so we are going to one of the local resorts for a buffet. You know what this means- no cooking for any of us involved!
And you right, first year is hard.0 -
Jazzy......it's been a tough year for you.......but it is behind you.....hermit is good.......it is not an easy road....relax today, knowing you made it through......hugs.......0 -
We often talk about our community and who we feel is just there for us. I saw this today and liked what it had to say! I like those people who check in on me how ever it works for them to do so to say "hey, you doing okay girlfriend?" are the keepers!0 -

On the ball as always Jazzy......happy anniversary CC and Jazzy.......I must say I feel much better than I expected I ever would this time last year......0 -
CC and Jazzy, congrats on the one year mark!! May you both have many many more anniversaries!! (((hugs)))
So sad to hear of yet another Angel. I had crossed paths with either of them here, but it is sad nonetheless.
Teka, my cat hates going to the vet and it is always a battle to get him into the carrier. He howls the whole way there, pees on the towel in the carrier. Then he crouches down when at the vet trying to push himself through the table I think!! New towel in carrier and he howls all the way home. Usually pees again, or sometimes gifts me with a pooh! He's a rescue, but he's been with me for 7 years. However he is still scared of just about everything.
kathec, I love the photos! They'd both make excellent paintings. I especially like the one with the little building in it.
Oh my, I really am a hermit!! I'm sitting in my recliner and it is almost dark outside (4:40PM). I have a salt lamp on and another small lamp that is more like a night light and the room is pretty dark. My cat is curled up in my lap and I'm on my laptop (brightest light in the room). I don't want to get up for more lights, because Boo will commandeer the recliner and I won't get it back for several hours. So I'll just sit in the dark.......0 -
Hahahahahhhhhh!!! funny, Teka!0 -
Jazzy just relax for sure---BTW I wrote that many years ago I said a lot over the years and never put my name on anything, so if u see anything with unknown, know it was probably me.
Gramma u sound like me--I have a lamp on with a 40 watt bulb, my TV and computer and that's how I like it and when I put my comouter away out goes the light but never the TV. oops here comes my cat just watching me, she's waiting for me to finish it must be it must be around 8, she gets her treat at 7-8 PM.0 -
LOL Teka!
Sadly I Have to take Baby Boo to the vet 3-4 times a year. He has a re-occurring virus (Rodent virus, though it has nothing to do with rodents) that he gets periodically. It seems to be somewhat stress related. He gets ulcers on a paw or in his mouth or lip. He shreds me any time I try to give him meds so he goes to the vet and she gives him a couple of shots.
He always get it right before I go on buying trips or go to visit my kids & grands in CA. Last time he got it was a few days after my sx. I had the vet come to me as a Ranch Call to give him his shots. No way at that point could I have caught him got in the carrier and lifted the carrier! He weighs 13 lbs.0 -
Oh Gramma poor baby.0 -
So very sad to lose more among us.
Jazzy, I loved your little picture (was it an ant?) so sweet. (Tried your yoga moves. Feet still angry. Have mo appt on Tuesday. Wonder what he'll say. Have a bone scan, too, so maybe will learn something?) DH is convinced being on my feet all day is too much. He may be right.
Gramma, What is a salt lamp? Sounds gentle somehow.
Beautiful picture of trees--would make a gorgeous painting.
Sally, hoping for good news of resting well. Soft hug your way.
Blondie, strength and good thoughts your way. Hoping for solutions for you.
Happy weekend. Have to go hunt down a plump tofurky!0 -
Hi hermits- thanks for all your kind words and good wishes today. In many ways, I felt off today but think that comes with another anniversary and thinking about where I was last year. And what life might be like a year from now. Who knows, right?
I had a nice massage tonight and talked to my therapist about the anniversary today. She was a huge help to me through everything I went through last year. I came across some little gifts recently that she brought me last year before my surgery and it reminded me of her consistent love and support. She was so sweet tonight, and told me it was our five year anniversary together and gave me a $50 discount on my massage tonight. Although I had not thought about it when I made the apt with her for tonight, I felt very glad I had her to talk to this evening on this particular day. Life often has a way of being sure you have what you need when you need it most.
I came home in a nice steady rain. I hope it rains all night long.
Wish you all sweet dreams. Thank you for being here with me today.0 -
jazzy."big hugs".........0 -
Skittle I'm sure Gramma will explain much better but a salt lamp is a lamp that brings out soothing relaxing Aura into the room and it glows has some type of mineral of salt that emits the relaxation methid or it's a lamp that looks like a box of salt, I always get that confused. Skittle it could very well b u'r feet, I mean they have feet massages for pressure points for relaxation just for feet so if u are on them all day that is very stressful for u'r body. maybe
Jazzy u'r massage came at the perfect time for u and u had such a nice talk. And what a wonderful gift she gave u besides being so nice
Rest well.0 -
Good morning hermits- I slept well last night! Into the weekend I go, and off for lunch today with a friend I have not seen in awhile.
Wishing you all a good Saturday!0 -
Good morning hermits. Jazzygirl, hope you will see a beautiful sunrise and enjoy your lunch. blondiex, am sending you hugs for a good lung biopsy.0 -
Skittle, hope your feet will get a rest this week end and feel better.0 -
Skittle....have the same foot problems, plus legs.....I told my kids...if I could replace from the waist down with new parts, I would be great....although for some reason today the upper back is acting up......but I have arthritis, so expect discomfort at times........
Everyone have a great day.....warmer here in the Philly suburbs after a couple days of very cold weather....but rain is coming.....hugs Hermies0 -
For Teka.0 -
Camille, I feel so bad for him that there is nothing else to do for him but give him shots when he has a flare up.
Skittle, Camille is absolutely correct in her description of the salt lamp! It is a large chunk of natural Pink Himalayan salt. The core is drilled out and a night light sized bulb is inserted. The bulb heats the salt which releases negative ions which purify the air by attracting the positive ions in the room. The salt is antimicrobial so so never needs any cleaning. According to an article I found online: "The crystal salt lamp can enhance goodwill, lighten ones aura, eliminate mood swings, and diminish negativity. It can stimulate the acupuncture and acupressure meridians. Crystal salt also acts as a catalyst to meditation. Beside the color energy properties, it opens and clears the heart chakra, assists in regenerative growth, and dispels depression." I find them (I have 2 lamps and a tea candle holder) very soothing and comforting. Google salt lamp and you'll get pix of what they look like.
Cold and windy here today with spits of snow. More snow predicted for the weekend. Sitting in recliner, cat on lap, enjoying the warmth from the fireplace.0 -
