Hi hermits- nice day here today, almost up to 80 degrees. I am going to go out out for an end of the day walk here shortly. We have such bad wind here in the spring, but none today.
Blondie- I have a hard time with that too, but take it all in and enjoy your time by the water, the people that love you, etc. Water is healing to the mind, body and spirit.....
Sally- I am on a mission to get my spare bedroom and home office in order. Both have been a chaotic mess since I got diagnosed and went through that and more. I am going to spend some time in one room one day this weekend and the other on Sunday. It will take longer than that to get it all done, but I just need to begin somewhere. I can be your spring decluttering buddy if you want?
0 -
Jazzy, I will welcome you as a spring decluttering buddy. Yesterday I found some old photos that were hiding in the pile of papers on my desk. Old, old from when I was a child. "The find" made the task of decluttering more fun. The pictures had been there since last June when I brought them home from my mom's. I hope you find something fun as you work this week end.
Blondie, happy to hear you are enjoying your trip. Is it warm enough to walk or sit on the beach?

Hopefully it will b nice enough to go to the beach or. Am rellaxing, resting and being with adults having conversation..thanks

Hi hermits- at work but I forgot to tell you that newer genetic test I took that my BS recommended called GeneDx turned out to be negative. She mentioned there are new genetic patterns they have discovered associated with different types of cancers (including melanoma, pancreatic and colon cancer along with BC). I am going to see my MO friday for a check up and see anything else he has to say about it.
I did not really think it would be positive, given we have very little cancer history in our family, but my BS thought with the bilateral diagnosis, she thought it would be worth checking. Whew!
Next will probably come the challenge with getting it paid. I asked them to be sure to get the auth for it and be sure it is going to be covered as I have had a hard time getting the genetics tests paid for. Multiple appeals with BSBC. They told me the test runs around $1500 but the denial on the recent insurance claim said $7000. So if you do this, be informed on whether your insurance company will cover it. I told them if it was not going to be covered by insurance, I did not want them to run it. Fingers crossed on the payment part of this.

Jazzy I hope that gets covered, I know what it's for but it's confusing to me.
Blondie please relax, these days are for u to be waited on and enjoy.
OK Ladies here's how u do it---start u'r room like a clock and 12:oo is the start work around the room to 1,2 etc. and before u know it, u'll be back at 12. hahahaha Yea take advice from me who tells others how to clean, but to lazy to do it myself. LOL
OK Sat. night is our party here and my SIL's cousin is making jello shots, oh do I know what I'm drinking Sat. nite. He'll be 50, he's sad about this. I'm making fried green peppers, no not fried green tomatoes, altho those are very good. I did forget about those we always had them at the end of the season and were so good.
0 -
Cami- oh I had fried green tomatoes in TX last week, they were SOOO good. Fried green peppers sound good too. Never mind jello shots. You are going to have a fun evening this saturday!
I am now having the new experience of a friend trying to tell me how to take care of my health post bc. I know that is part of what we have to deal with sometimes, the people that think they know the reason you get these things and how to prevent it from coming back. This friend is into the colon cleanse thing and got the big lecturing e-mail tonight AGAIN on how important it is to do this. Well, I have made it clear I am not going to put a hose up my butt now or ever. I am sure you enjoyed that visual (LOL).
Hope everybody had a good day.

Oh Jazzy the visual is great. Oh and if u do a cleanse to often it can cause other kinds of cancer. I really enjoy how people who haven't been touched by cancer have so much to say about why they don't have it. As u guys know I grew up with it, my mom, her best friend died from it, my 2 aunts, my cousin who was older and died from it. and I have to say they all lead a very healthy lifestyle, everything was fresh, with moderation, no smoking, or alcohol lots and lots of walking cuz they never drove and walked everywhere. No one had heart problems but they did have cancer problems so again I say there are no rules.

Jazzy.............yes that was a visual......LOL
Its sad there are people out there who try to push their ideas and practices of what is good for you health on you and other people.............no different then people who try to tell people how to take care of themselves, give advice, when they have no MD behind their name, or any reason to be handing out information............my mother use to say................anyone who tries to treat themselves, only has a "fool" for a patient...................Amen to that...........
All anyone has to do is listen to Dr. Oz. when he talks about Colon Cleansing...........you want real advice about whether you should do it......................tune in.............

Onco if that's not a coon cleanse that OMG I can't imagine what else u could do---I think so right?
0 -
Yes.......but some use it to lose weight........that is where the problem begins.........
Years ago you could use Phosphorus of Soda for your prep............then some idiots decided to use ti to lose weight, and the FDA took it off the shelves.......
You would take 1/2 of a tiny bottle of this in your choice of liquid......then head for the toilet.......then hours later take the other 1/2........same thing.................you would stop eating whole food 2 days before your prep began.......no big deal cause you could have all the liquid you wanted including broth...............easiest prep know to man............not anymore.....because of "assholes".....they used it to lose weight whenever they wanted, and it harmed the kidneys, and messed with their potassium levels, causing cardiac arrest......(not for the prep cause you did it 1 time only)...............soooooooooooo.........now you drink that gallon of "shit"............or takes 28 pills timed every 15 minutes.....(try that on for size) because someone was an "asshole"....
II do the Dulcolax and Miralax when I prep which is once every 3 years........my mother died from colon cancer.............so I have to go a lot more often.......my kids are every 5 years......
Long story Onco......aren't you glad you asked......but it shows you how people can take a good thing, and make it bad...............such an easy prep.....oh well.........
Do not do colon cleanse............better yet...........watch Oz.

Hi all, We'll I got my results from my bone density test this evening. I have osteopenia. One more to add to my list. Can someone tell me what I should or shouldn't be doing? Was getting ready to start exercising now that I've had the cortisone shots in my knees and have been feeling a little better. Haven't seen the doctor since I got the results. Got it from the nurse and she doesn't know what the treatment plan will be.

Dwill u'r Dr. may call you and tell u what type of calcium with Vit D and how many mlg. a day and that' about it. I think we're all stuck with bone issues somehow.

Teka, thanks.

Dwill. I am osteopenic too. Doc told me 1200 calcium, 600 vit D3. If you are on Coumadin/ warfarin, NO vit K. That interferes with the clot busting action. Loose weight if necessary, weight bearing excercise if you can. Walking is great.

Hi ladies- this is the third person I know who has been into this (along sometimes with the fasting, etc.) All of them always pushing on to others. I think people have to find what works for them, we all do things to help us from acupuncture, to massage, to vitamins and supplements, etc. I am just not a fan of people who like to tell me how to feel or what to think, never mind think they are my healthcare adviser!
You may have hit the nail on the head. I hear in the same sentence "I am doing the colon cleanse" with "I have been doing emotional eating". Ducky, I think you are right on. It may be about loosing weight now that you say that.
This same friend has another friend who had bc and became very ill with vomiting of orange bile recently. She was talking to me about it and I had a feeling maybe her friend's bc has metastasized. Turns out that bc survivor does have mets to her liver blocking her bile duct. So this friend of mine said she had been talking to her colon lady about the friend with the liver mets, and think some of the advice to use bc patients ended up my way as a result. I pray she does not bring it up to her, but she probably will. She thinks she is helping.
Dwill- I found out I was slightly osteopenic before I started the AIs last year. I was surprised as it does not fit with my body type (taller and bigger boned). My MO recommended weight bearing exercise along with the supplements. I take 1500 mg of CA a day plus 5000 units of Vitamin D as I a Vit D deficient. Some good exercises for bone strengthening are walking (as Onco says), as well as some weight lifting (get a couple bar bells at home for your arms if you don't have access to a gym) and yoga is very good for osteo stuff too. Do talk to your doctor about what you need to do for your bone health. I am going to see my MO and think he said we would do another density test this fall. I was seriously bummed when I heard this too. Makes me feel old(er)?
Temp hit 83 today! More things waking up in the gardens!

I am having fun, they r taking good care of me, still can't breathe, dr called no fluid, mo Wednesday have to figure out what now..
How is everybody

Thanks ladies for all your advice! Don't know why it sort of bummed me out. I just take so many meds already and have so many issues. Just like it never stops. Several years ago, my PCP found out I did not have a trace of Vit D in my body. Of course I am lactose tolerance and have been most of my life so I eat hard cheese and drink soy milk but stay away from almost anything with milk in it. He put me on 10,000 units a day of Vit D. I've changed PCP since and was just getting ready to ask her if I needed to continue the 10,000 units a day. Just seems excessive I guess I probably have to stay on it but will see once I visit the doctor again. . After reading a couple of your post--I started on Calcium gummy pills about two months ago, too. I have to be careful of NSAIDS and any meds with blood thinners since I have hemorrhaging diverticulosis. I've had at least 10 emergency trips to the hospital--in the last estimated 12 years. lt's almost every year with 4 to 5 days stays, Several times I crashed ---was in intensive care unit twice and had 3 blood transfusions in the these years and this was before I was diagnosed with Cancer. On a side note --several years ago my sister sold me an herb called Organic Gold suppose to help me lose weight. It's an herbal tea and after 3 cups of tea, I started to hemorrhage at work. It is so bad and I bleed so fast that I always have to take an ambulance to the hospital when I bleed. I found out the herbal tea was an African tea made out of blood thinning herbs. I still tease my sister today about trying to do me in. I chuckle when I think of it because she did not give me a refund but ask for the remainder of the tea bags I had left. Okay--I digress!!! Just trying to say I have to be extremely careful of what herbs and meds I take. I am so thankful for your taking time to help me address my problems. I owe you guys and promise I will find something cheerful to relate soon. I can't say when though because tomorrow I head to my BS and will get an opinion on my implant that seems to gone astray. I better boo hoo now! Okay enough gloom and doom--I think no matter what news I get next I am going to send you guys a sunny message. Love and Hugs!

Oh Teka that's so true--See Dwill we do for each other.
Good Morning all---It's Friday, so I think some are happier than others.
Dwill u really did bring up a good point, several years ago I worked at a pharmacy and that's when my DD got very sick and in the hospital for--well on and off mostly for 2 yrs. So I'd always talk to the pharmacist about her meds and what can be mixed--st that time I got a good handle on her meds--never did mine, but her I knew every interaction and he said now watch out for herbal teas or anything they call natural because even tho they are natural it might not go with meds u'r on, as we talked more like he said we don't know what's natural in other countries or cultures that their bodies might b used to but our bodies can't take. So I did laugh that u' sister tried to kill u tho, cuz I'd never let my sister forget that. But u poor dear even before BC u've had goofy problems so of course it's like here we go again. So u rant all u want we're all here and will always listen.
U know it was my sisters BD yesterday and my mom's too (my SIL too) so of course we were talking about our mom and then our aunt and they made getting older look so easy, really- they both lived to be almost 90 and until the end (like the last year) it seemed to be simple for them and my mom had a full mastectomy years ago and my aunt had colon cancer--both had surgeries never got chemo or rads--they had that stuff but it wasn't really pushed on people like now and after everything they lived many, many years and were always on the go and busy doing fun things and like I said made it look easy. So my sister and I are how did that happen? They never relly got infections to be on antibiotics (my dad too) I'm always on one and they walked perfectly straight with no canes ever. WTF I can barely walk my sister is all aches and pains and takes all these vitamins from the Dr. (Bone mets) See if they would have just complained a lot we'd feel better but instead my sister, cousin and me all think of how wimpy we are. LOL

Ladies.......thanks to your prayers......Grayson's Upsee has shipped...........she was one of the 500 who got the first stock.........I am in tears........OMG......my little girl will see the world for the first time standing..........thanks again ladies.......will send pictures....
0 -
Ducky ... so happy to hear about Grayson being one of the 500. I am also sending thoughts into the universe that the manufacturer will speed up production so that all who need one can get one.
Cami, I often think how much more active my mom was at my age ... and one of her friends is amazing at over 100. I sometimes wonder if Mom's early and middle life without all the conveniences of mine made her stronger.

Sally......according to my son the inventor of this had no idea there was such a need for them.......when the orders began to come in she said she was shocked......she actually thought she would only need a few hundred, but once she opened the website up to orders she found out how great the need was...........the next Upsee's available for distribution will occur in 11 weeks..........
My son (Grayson's Poppie) bought the Upsee for her......he would do anything for these 2 little girls, and also the new baby coming on April 28th......he is a wonderful grandfather, and my DIL is an amazing grandmother to them also.......always ready to do it all.............

Good morning hermits- just back from the MO visit. All went well and he was not busy today, and came out while I was at the desk getting my co-pay done and said "I am ready for you!" He was in a chipper mood, but anyways the whole thing had me in and out of there very quickly today. We talked about the recent genetic tests, which he had not seen in the electronic record and said he was glad to see that my BS ordered this. The newest generation of breast cancer gene tests. He said "we actually don't know what to do about these if they are positive" so I guess I am glad they were negative, right? I will have blood work and another bone density test this fall and then see him again after that. No more cancer docs until the next BS visit and 6 month mammo this fall.
Getting done early allowed me to make a trip to Home Depot on the way to pick up my first round of things for the garden. Pansies, lavender plants, and a few ice plants. Got this way cool succulent that looks like a coral you would see on a reef. Indoor plant that will go in a cool pot I have and be outside this summer but will come inside this winter. I will post a photo of it when I have it in the pot, as many of you are gardening types and will enjoy seeing this one. My find of the day.
Ducky- congrats on the Upsee coming soon! Send us photos of Grayson in it. I am so grateful to all the people who invent these things to help people with their mobility needs, young and old!
Cami- I hope everyone had a good birthday in your family.
I think in earlier days, surgery and a bit of radiation was all many were offered. It either worked or it didn't. I remember a friend of mine's mother had bc in the 70s and had surgery plus some sort of very crude type of chemotherapy. I think they have come a long way with treating bc disease (and based on what I have seen others go through even 20 years ago), but these treatments today do take their toll. The chemo and anti hormone meds especially. I hope you have a good pain free, day my friend!
Time to get to work and have the cleaning company coming later today. I always have to pick up around here before they show up. The cleaning before the cleaning, as I call it!

Ducky we are all so glad about Grayson---Wonderful news.
Sally one of my dearest friend for over 25 yrs will be 90 this year, she looks no more that 65. She worked FT until 1 yr ago and misses it and when she worked everyday she wore heels and stood mostly on her feet. She had a tooth pulled about a few months ago and u would think she had major surgery because altho she's had 3 kids never been in a hospital and of course we laugh like hell at her. But the energy she has is unreal and her mom lived alone until she died at 101. So those genes are strong. LOL

Chevy, your friend is amazing ... high heels and working FT so long.
