Good Morning Herms---
I'm up way to early (been up a while) so I will be wiped later so I'll try to get things done al little while I have some energy---it doesn't last long---chit I remember working all day and going out at night and that was't that long ago--before BC I was doing everything now blah--I'm happy to be able to do what I do do. Well u know I'm lazy--but the paper work I told u about for my taxes will be mailed today--I proved to them I have no life of money or anything hidden in the Camon Islands and if I did like I'd be here.
I do have to send a TY note to the Pres, of US after all, I also write and criticize what he does. As I do our Gov.of my State but they're politicians so it's easy to give my views.
OK Good day everyone, BBL

Cami- good luck with all those letters to the IRS, the prez, and other politicians. They like our money and our votes, but given little in return, eh? I hope you feel okay today. I did not sleep that well and plan for a nap later myself.
I am off to see my PCP for the annual physical today. Hopefully no surprises there. I will also get my lab slip to get that done this week and re-check again on the A1C.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Seems to have quieted down a bit now. Nothing since 3am. Couldn't tell if it was thunder or my gut. Turns out it was both.
I know I've told you about my baby girl, Rose – she's 7 so not really a baby, but always MY baby. She has a big brother, a rescue, and he is a 90pound weenie. Thunder sends him into shivers. So at 3 am I was awakened with a crash when Nacho knocked my standing fan over onto the bed because he was trying to get close to me. I could feel the gut getting close to the danger zone so I just lay there and petted him until I had to run to the john. Spent a half hour there, when I went back to bed Nacho was on DH's side, so I just went back to bed. Crash! Here comes the fan again. I was trying to not have to wake up DH but now it was unavoidable. "He needs his thundershirt." Bless his heart, DH got up and went and got his shirt and put it on. Nacho still spent the night by me but no more falling fans.
Ok now it's hitting again.

Oh Mags hard to rest when all those things are happening and I know how the diarrhea is I've had it for 7 yrs now, sometimes extreme and sometimes not so bad, but I do take meds for it so I guess it could be worse, I now wear Depends cuz I can't depend on when or where it will happen and there is no sign except explosion hahaha. I only had it 2x this week well 2 days but the days are shorter than it used to be. so it's better, but it does wipe u out. I do know when it's over tho I get the chills and a slight fever for a while and I just stay warm and rest and it's done. Oh I didn't mean to make it about me, I just meant to tell u I truly understand,,
Oh I can see me going down the water in an innertube, I don't thing so.
Jazzy tell us bout u'r Dr. stuff later please

Aw Cami, thanks for empathizing with me. I'm trying to shift my mindset; my brain wants to treats this as "it was just something you ate and it'll be better soon" but I know it's the chemo and if I don't get it under control it's liable to escalate. Cousin is going to pick up Imodium today. I think I said before, I am so prone to constipation that I didn't want to stop me up again. But it's getting desperate.
And, after that nice little Nacho story I was going to add his pic but with running to the john I didn't get to it. Here's Nacho:

Onco u'r avatar is perfect for so many of us LOL It's so cute.
Mags I hope u can get a balance when I strted mine I took Immodium and when my Onc so how bad it was she laughed and said u can double what the box says and it still won't be enough for u---so I truly hope u'r isn't so bad and if u are on the line with constipation, oh I bet u'r getting confused on how to handle this. I've been on a prescription med for it and still have problems. That chemo did something so keep up with this, I didn't tell anyone for over 1 yr of chemo and I should have said something right away.

Mags- Nacho is adorable. Do the thunder shirts work?
Teka- the tubing looks so inviting. Reminds me of my float down the river last weekend (in a raft though). I used to do the inter-tubing on the CT River years ago when I lived there. Simple joys of summer.
Doctor visit went well. BP is good, nothing else came up of significance. I have to do my blood work next so that will give more info on how we are doing. I am particularly interested in the A1C (which had dropped down to almost normal) when I did it last in January, and my Vit D levels. The later has been on the low side for awhile and I have been reading more and more about correlations between BC and low Vitamin D. I also read something recently that women with higher Vit D levels have better success with not getting any reoccurrence. I take 4000 IUs daily these days. Hoping it is better than it was last summer when we checked in last. Will let you know how the bloodwork looks when I hear back (after vaca most likely....)
Hi Ducky- we expect t-storms here today. Thunder heads are already building.....
Onco- you are too funny! If anyone read my journal, they would say I am a mess!
Cami- I hope the D gets better today.
Hope everyone else here is doing okay today.

Jazzy........heard the same thing about Vitamin D....take 4,000 units a day too...
Had A1c checked too, and it was within normal range even though glucose was a tad over normal/.
Now I am pursuing my TSH..my daughter's Endo told her anyone with .3 to 3.5 should be treated for Hypo Thy ......the symptoms are the same as AI SE's......depression, aches, pains, hair thinning, mood swings......so I am going to see what she says......
Want to go off Letrozole, but will pursue this in the meantime so I will know for certain which on the culprit is......
Wish you luck........

Ahhhh. Finally had a shower. I was offending myself but haven't felt like I could even sit in the shower chair that long until now. And I am exhausted. But the Imodium seems to be working, fingers crossed. Cousin bought me half a dozen bandanas for when my hair goes but I decided I'm not going to bother with it anymore and just keep it covered, DH is good with that.
Vitamin D – I've been on rx D for a couple of years, 50,000 IU two or three time a week in addition the the D I get in my multivitamin and calcium supplements. My PCP checks that, due again next month I think.
Thyroid – I started taking it when I hit 40 but never had a doc who was really serious about getting it right until I was referred to an endocrinologist and he started tracking it. Tested every 6 weeks and adjusted. A year and a half later I'm on 224mcg a day. They don't make anything over 200 so I take 2 112s. The doc said the important thing is not what the blood work says, that's just a guideline. The important thing is to find the dosage that eliminates most if not all of the symptoms. Not all endocrinologists have that philosophy, though, so you want to find out. Because the way they come up with the parameters for "normal" is they find out what the levels are in a certain number of people, and then they use the number that most people are. What's normal for you is not what's normal for everyone else.
Yes, Teka, thunder shirts do work. It's not perfect, but it helps him not to panic. When we first got him it was so bad that he would blindly try to crawl up in bed and lay above DH's head. He's really pathetic when the thunder hits, poor baby.

Duck and Mags- she checks my thyroid every year, has been for awhile as I am sometimes low/normal. My mother was hypothyroid.
I have been debating whether my hair is thinning or not. I don't think it looks as good as it used to. Surgery will make your hair fall out too in case none of you know that. I lost a bunch after my surgeries in 2012. But then it grew back and got better. Then I started the AIs and think it has thinned again. I have talked to my hair dresser about hair extensions but not sure I want to deal with that. I am a totally over processed blonde too which helps nothing.
I realized today I have three days left before I go back east and better get some packing done!

Hi Everyone I hope everything is going OK.
Mags I'm like u I take 50,000 units acouple of time mine is always low too. My thyroid went dead and so did my cousins after chemo--so of course we took Synthroid well after a while we both figured it kicked started it so we stopped taking it. Well of course when I told my Dr. she asked if my cousin was a Dr., no she's an Insurance Assistant--The Dr. says OK I've got a retired woman from the sate and an insurance assistant deciding what meds to take. And I said yep, so we both had our tests for them around the same time and our thyroids were fine. Of course she said this was unusual, but no more synthroid. See why Drs. get aggravated with me.
Sorry I'm yakkin' away.
Jazzy u are so adventurous I just love it.

I know thyroid is a tricky thing, and only a good specialist could really make a good diagnosis.........I will try it and see what happens........

Good morning hermits- busy day yesterday with stops at about 10 place in my errands run. Today I am getting my car serviced and staying home to get some things done at home, and also going to take a nap. Not sleeping all that well and want to be rested for my long day of travel on Sunday.
We got some nice heavy rain last night, my yard is happy.
How is everyone doing here today? Mags, you feeling better? How is Lily doing? And dear Blondie? And wondering if Basia is still on this thread? Cami, your D better yet?
0 -
Thanks Jazzy my D is gone for now...Yea that's right Basia, hven't seem her for a while, I hope she's doing OK. but Many people post a little then they go to different threads.
0 -
Basia's been posting on the June chemo thread.
Pleased to report that Imodium has done the trick, my D is also gone and followed up with Gas-X to get rid of the G. So I got what for me would pass as the mythological "good night's sleep".
If you know what I mean and I think you do...

Cami and Mags- glad to hear you are doing better with the D. I may have some "sympathy D" going on this way for you too.
I think it is related to too much of the sugar free sweetener yesterday that can sometimes act a laxative. I was ready to hit the Immodium todayt, but think it has worked it's way out. Need to remember not to overdo on that stuff.
Glad to hear Basia is on the chemo thread. Cami is right, sometimes people are here for awhile and then move to other threads. I have hopped on a off a few myself through time. I hope she is doing okay, I think this is a second time through if I remember correctly.
Subaru is checked out and found out a master switch for the power windows needed replacement. Covered by warranty though.

Hermits, y'all have been through this chemo chit some more than once, and I'm so thankful for your experience and support. If you think of it, would you pop into my July chemo thread and encourage the gals over there? There's over 20 of us who have started or are starting this month, a bunch have already had some serious SEs and could use a bit of bucking up. A few old timers have popped in already, and the ladies have really appreciated it.
I think I'm good for today.
0 -
Yes, Teka, since I started chemo July 1, I started the thread and the original post has been updated with everyone's name & start date. When I was having surgery in May, that's what was done with the May surgeries thread and I know it made me feel like part of a team, and I think the ladies on the chemo thread are treating it as a team effort and being very supportive of each other.
0 -
Mags- I did not do chemo so I am not one to help much on your thread, but think your idea of encouraging others to join if they wish or Teka's idea of a new thread for chemo is good too. I was on a rads thread for awhile and think you have rads in your future. I had internal radiation (less common than external) but think there are some common things with both and will help you there whenever I can. I also am on AIs and chances are those are in your future too and can share LOTS there.
Teka- yes, Jazzy will be on a jet plane early this weekend! I realized today I need to get out of town because I am still running around like a maniac and need to dial down my day some.
Jane Fonda on Rachel Ray today and she looks so good! I just love her!

Big D struck again, with a vengeance. Took Imodium, lying down with hot water bottle. It was sudden and really painful. Can I take the Imodium preventatively?
0 -
Oh Mags there is a script u can get, I still have it, but u have to give it time anyway--I always think when it's over it's when it's ready to be over. But that's my stupid attitude, so I just live with it, bit remember this is usually jut thru chemo and then again u might not have it next time. Do u get it every 3 weeks, I forgot. Every time u might get different SE's, make sure u take u'r vitamins and drink preferably something with electrolytes (water) in it. Sorry this is happening, wear Depends too in case u can't make it to the bathroom--it really helps cuz u don't have to worry about getting there to fast. This is the only thing I know about thru all of this. LOL

Mags- so sorry you are suffering through the D again. I agree with the others, you may need something else to manage the continuing D. You may be at risk for getting dehydrated quickly. Call the MO for something to help with this, as they are there to help manage all this stuff.

Mags so sorry..make sure u r drinking to get the chemo out of u.. the big d is annoying. Not sure which is worse beib constipated or having d.
Jazzy so glad to hear about the dr appt cause u haveen running urself ragged..

Teka (((((big hugs)))))
Going to mo tomorrow, discussing hornonals , we will see what I decide.
