Bippy- I will tell you that it has taken me years to come to a better place. Not to discourage you, but I think it is hard to know what to expect after treatment. I think some people bounce back faster than others, it all depends on your treatment and your body's reaction to everything. My situation was more complicated because I had two major things happen at the same time, resulting it two surgeries, then all the rest that followed. I still very grateful to be alive. It could have gone down a very different road.

The gym and personal training is one of the things that helped me more than anything. Exercise is really important for us to feel good, get our strength back, keep our bones healthy (especially for anyone taking the AIs).

I find I cannot work for awful people anymore either. And gosh, they are everywhere. So take care of yourself, and other and perhaps different work may come. Put yourself and your health first.

What is in San Francisco? Are you doing a clinical trial of some sort?

Teka- enjoy the movie. It is the next on my liste (I saw Love and Mercy last night and loved it). I think JW is a must see on the big screen!

Went to get a crown early this am for a tooth that was discovered to be starting to crack during a recent dental check up. Something about 7 a.m. and the sound of a drill that is not an ideal way to start the day, but it all went fine. Just very numb and going to be a "soft food" kind of day.

Teka- I thing the originals were always the best. Jurassic Park, Jaws, Alien, etc. I love the series of each, but the first ones are like no other!

    jazzy,

Genentech makes Perjeta. They posted an ad here asking for women that are taking it to give their thoughts and experiences. I replied thinking it would be online or something. To my wonderment, they are paying my way to San Francisco and putting me up in a posh hotel! It's a patient advisory Council board and I will serve on it for a year, the conference is one day, and I just happened to meet the criteria as an early stager who received Perjeta, a relatively new thing. They're giving me a sizable stipend for attending as well.

It's incomprehensible to me. San Francisco has always been on my bucket list. I'm taking my handsome husband with me, and we are going to extend the trip and do some sightseeing and relaxing. Life is so crazy sometimes it really floors me that this is happening. To top it off, the wonderful ladies at cure diva.com allowed me to post some of my blog on their website! I cried and cried. Some gals commented and said it made them laugh or uplifted them, and that made me so happy.

I hear what you're saying about bouncing back. Today I went to a yoga sculpt class, something I have not done in years. I took it easy on the planks and downward dogs. The rest of it felt wonderful and my body is very receptive, eager for movement and change. Working out feels good! Yes I promise you, I definitely will not work for any toxic people ever again. Ever since my breast cancer, I'm very sensitive to what I allow around me.

Hi Teka, Mags, and all my chickies! The trip is in a few weeks I can't wait to take pictures and post them here. Anyone of you near San Fran

Bippy- that is SO cool. You are being paid to share your experiences, with a trip, a stipend, etc. You just embrace and enjoy that. Life has a way of surprising us in so many ways. This one is a GOOD surprise!

So many fun things to see in SF. My fav city. Ride the trolley, eat some great fish down at Fisherman's Wharf, don't forget the sourdough bread and Giardelli chocolates. I think this all sounds wonderful!

BTW friends, good news on a proposal I went in on with a teaming firm here in town. We got the work today! Whoot whoot!

Sounds like an exciting time Bippy. I almost moved to SF a few years ago but decided not to take the job that was offered to me at the time. Would love to go visit one day. It all worked out well since I ended up in the Florida Keys.

I hope you and your hubby have a grreat time.

Awesome Jazzy! Enjoy your new gig.

Hi Freygea, isn't it steamy here now? SF is always cool, my pal says it should be in the 70's in July.

Blondie, in a few weeks we go! May stay about 5 days or so. Not long enough. Gettin out my travel stuff now, jeez not even sure what to take. I have nice travel friendly Chicos stuff, and that is comin!

It is like pea soup here Bippy! I would take something for the evenings (SF) because you will probably feel the cooler air more so than peeps living there. I remember when I went back to baltimore in the fall for a visit I was cold as heck. lol (it was probably 65 then lol)

I would take some light t shirts and a light jacket that way you can remove layers if you have to.

BEautiful, have a great 4th of July everyone, look after dogs and cats though................

I am still struggling with my lung and while it has improved according to doctor but I am still feeling rough so I am now on 50mg Prednisone. as well as a steroid inhaler which is giving me palpitations, and have to tail off on the steroid pills over next 2 weeks and go back.............have a headache after taking one............a few hours ago..............anyone any advice to give me? Not happy about this but need to get my lung feeling ok.................I realised today that I am now under 5 different specialist doctors and will be for the rest of my life.............I am not even 60 yet...... today I was in tears driving after getting some flashback stuff from very close and repeat experiences...........I do feel like I have failed at being a real woman with cancer as I struggle so much and I feel so alone

    jazzygirl Member Posts: 11,988

Lily- tell me more about your lung problems.

Alot of what you have described I have had to deal with around my asthma. I have had lung issues my whole life, I am very vulnerable to pneumonia, bronchitis and other lung type infections. I do the Provenil inhaler and had to do some inhaled steroids this spring (Advair). Asthma meds can do weird stuff to you, it can drive up my BP (I am on BP meds).

Steroids can not be good for you long term so it is good to do them until the lung problems clear and then get off of them as quickly as possible.

I had some lung stuff going on in May and got right on top of it with my PCP. Within a few weeks I was better. My doctors tell me when breathing issues start, to not wait to come in. That is very good advice. They tend to not resolve on their own.

And you have not failed being a woman with having cancer. This is a really hard thing to go through and live with. No one is the same after going through this. The SEs from going through treatment are really tough on women, they can be mild to debilitating. You are doing the best you can, so be kind to yourself.

    We care here.

Last two days finding my heart is racing out of my chest........could this be the Prednisona? Was on 50mg now on half dosse but the heart racing and feeling of constant stress is still there, all the time.

Tried to post last night but could not get site up..........was told my youngest dog who is only 3 most likely has an aggressive cancer yesterday, spent the evening sobbing............prognosis very poor no treatment.....

Lilly- the racing heart is worrisome. Definately get it checked out and make sure they adjust your medication.

I am so sorry about your dog. I know how much you love your feline friends.

Hugs to you Lily. I am so sorry to see you have had bad news on your doggy. Your furry family members become so precious. Share your love and let your doggy love you. You will find more memories and more smiles and yes, more tears. You are as preious to your doggy as your doggy is to you. You two enjoy your time together.

Sending you as much love as i can.
