Hi fellow hermit- doing okay this way, energy better as the week goes on. Seems to go that way for me, I seem to start out more tired earlier in the week and gain stamina as I go on. I cannot say I understand that either, as I would think I would do better coming out of the weekend having been more rested. Go figure!
Waiting for the plumber to come to the house this afternoon. I found an outside water leak around the faucet in the backyard. Praying it won't be anything major. One never knows!
Hoping you are all doing okay, as okay as we all can be these days!

Jazzy hope it's nothing serious!
Sure is quiet around here! Guess everyone is laying low or busy.0 -
I'm not busy! Heya markat. Just so u all know iv had an appt with the big docs and I need to see my gp on monday but as far as I know everything is going ok mental health wise. Otherwise have a v small lump in my good breast but I think its ok, maybe a rib or something but u know how these things worry you. Ill watch it for a month and see if it disappears. I'm sure it will.. Hope everyones ok and love to all xx

Hi hermits- Shambles, I am glad you are doing better and glad you will see the doctor on Monday. Get that lump checked out too to make sure it is nothing to worry about. I know you know that. I have learned from my sisters bc that lumps can show up fast and be fast growing.
Plumber said it seemed to be something with the faucet although he was not sure why it had the problem. But he replaced it and I am going to be in watch mode to be sure the water does not appear again. If it does, they will come back and go through the wall to look for a bigger problem. Fingers crossed here. Not too expensive a day with that (whew!)
Going out for a walk before the light is gone. Hope everyone is well here and yes, it's been quiet out here this week.

Hi ladies! Thank you for all of the Birthday well wishes! You are the best! My day was ok. I didn’t get as depressed as I did last year.
Yesterday, I was having trouble logging into this site. I couldn’t get bco to come up on my computer, so I did a read only on my phone. Did you have trouble logging in yesterday?
Welcome back Jinkala. Welcome Peggy.
I hope you are all getting rested and feeling well! If you are up in the Northeast…bundle up and stay warm. I understand a big snow storm is heading that way.

FL I had no problem logging in yesterday.
Jazzy good thing that's all it was, keeping fingers crossed Plumbers charge more than Drs.
We got a little snow today, but nothing like what's expected in the NE--I hope they're wrong.

I can totally relate. Just past the half way point with my chemo and I feel safe and confortable at home. I don't have to wear my wig or put on a happy face. I get tired easily, especially after my treatment. I get very frustrated by people who have never had cancer telling me how I'm supposed to feel, think and what I should be doing. I'm doing what I need to to get through this. Any body have any suggestions on how to make the nearothapy in my legs and feet more manageable? It's causing me terrible pain.

@Robin51, welcome, I see you are new to bco.
I think if you ask in the Pain forum you will get some answers to your question about neuropathy. And have you told your onc? I didn't have neuropathy but maybe there are additional meds you can take to prevent/control it, like the ones you probably get against nausea. I finished chemo about a month ago. Hang in there, it does eventually come to an end. What chemo regimen are you doing?

Hi Robin, sorry u feel bad--I'm always taking pain pills for my stuff, Maybe someone will have a better anser for u. It's a tough road (Personally I don't like the word journey) it sounds to happy. It sounds good to be 1/2 way thru but it's still happening do u have rads to.?
And we all know the feeling of just staying home altho not eeryone can-and I love when people say u look good--I cringe at that cuz I do have mirrors in my home, which I should cover, but don't and I know what I look like. I know they are tying to be kind but I'd rather just stay comfy at home expecially in the winter.Tell us about u'rself if u feel comfortable to and are u haing any other side effcts---but I would tell my onc just how u feel--they don't really want us to hurt.
Welcome.

Hello Robin, and welcome to Breastcancer.org.
You can read more about neuropathy, its causes (including several chemotherapy medicines), its symptoms, and some of the strategies for managing it in the article Neuropathy on the main Breastcancer.org site.
Quoting part of the article:
"If you suspect you have neuropathy, talk to your doctor as soon as possible. Your doctor might be able to switch your medication to ease your nerve problems. Your doctor also may prescribe medicines, pain patches, or topical creams that can help. If neuropathy isn't treated, it can become a long-term problem."

Lol Camille!
Robin, I'm a fan of pain pills also. Sometimes they switch your chemo if it is bad enough though. There a special meds specifically for neuropathy. Hugs!!
So I had a fire in the kitchen at work today! How exciting...ugh! Some idiot left a burner on and the delivery guy put a plastic crate on top. My conspiracy theory side thinks that either a kid did it or someone did it on purpose, only because no one is supposed to use the stove. Lesson learned that I don't do well under pressure, haha.
Teka stay warm and safe! Do you have a generator if you lose power?0 -
markat of course hearing the word fire is awful hearing it as school fire is horrific, but somehow I'm laughing at u'r conspiracy theory LOL--of course now a days--u never know. So how DID u react? I would have panicked actually I wouldn't have any nerve at all.
Who's been involved with the storm? Stay warm and safe.

Crazy week. Been going to PT twice a week to see if I can solve SI joint problem. My PCP doesn't want to give me more meds until I try doing something else. Don't think it has done much in last month except make my bank account lighter. So have to leave house for that. Went to my volunteer group with our craft ladies at church ... very gossipy this week ... drives me nuts ... and then this woman (waiting for a meal ticket that our church distributes on Wed mornings) has some medical crisis ... get stuck dealing with that .... 911 ... paramedics ... just don't like dealing with this kind of crap anymore (with you MK)... DH did a couple of things ... don't normally get annoyed with him but he managed to do it this week .... Foot of snow today ... 2 hrs of shovelling ... haven't been sleeping ... so mostly been lurking this week as I have obviously been tired, cranky and sick of pain. Trying to decide on painkiller or something to sleep tonight ... don't think supposed to take both together.
Robin, welcome and yes, screw you to anyone who tries to tell you to be the happy cancer patient and by default how you should think, feel or anything else. .... Let them try it!
Jazzy wish I could latch on to some of your energy.

Jane u sound like u had a cray week and I bet u'r DH is hiding from u. I think I would---sometimes u do to much for how u feel and it and everyone else just gets on the few nerves left that make u go boing. I hope u get some rest and alone time this week-end--If there's snow just stay comfy at home.

Whoa... lots going on. Teka--warm hugs your way. All Northern hermits, please be safe. Hope you have warmth, food, and the meds you need to keep functioning. New hermits, welcome. Good thread to be on. Seems to be quite a week for pain and se's. Wonder what it is about February. Looks like our shared spa day is long overdue. markat/bgirl--quite the drama! Hope you are both able to soothe away the nerve endings exposed. It's exhausting. Shambles--you sound so much better. Glad you followed through with your appt. Camille--I'm sure the mods know you are good-hearted and will not frown on your words of wisdom and humor. (yes, you are funny.) Jazzy--a walk sounds good. Wish I had the energy right now. I'm headed for a hot bath and a two-cat warmed bed. (now if I could only sleep well.)
Happy weekend to all. Stay safe.

Teka - Fun Just spent another 2 hrs shovelling our 12 inches which are 3 ft drifts in places. whoever wanted winter can come get it!

Teka, pack your sunglasses, flip-flops and sunscreen! It is a beautiful day here! I am sending you warm thoughts!

If our kitties would just sleep on the bed, it would be nice but they seem to think that night-time is for playing and exploring and making all sorts of noise so they've been banned from the bedroom for years now. LoL
I'm doing well - so happy these days now that I'm not having to go through chemo hell every three weeks. I feel so much more in control of my life now that my head isn't full of drugs half the time. Heh
Today I am not planning on leaving the house at all - just me and my computer games and my online friends.

Dear fellow hermits:
Thinking of the northeastern hermits today with all the snow. I am originally from that area of the country and know those big storms are hard to recover from. I hope you all are safe at home, have food, power, water and the rest.
Glad to hear some are doing better, know others are struggling to feel better. My thoughts are with all of you as you go through the treatment process.
My plumbing problem this week turned out to be a minor one, thankfully, but watching the outside faucet for any further problems. I had a wicked week at my client site, so I am glad to be done with it for this week and to my hermit time.
Went to see a great music and dance performance last week around Carnival. Made me wish I was in New Orleans, Rio De Janiero or anywhere warm and tropical!
Having a slow quiet day at home. Thinking of you all and wishing you a good day!

Stay warm and inside you northerners! Teka, hope DH feels better soon! Nothing worse than a DH with a cold
Bgirl, hope this weekend brings some warm hermitting. Sorry about the snow
Hi fl, jazzy, Skittle, shambles, Jinkala, curve!
Camille, the way I handled the fire was very amusing to those watching. Apparently I ran out in the hallway flapping my arms yelling for someone to call the vice principal (male). He showed up half an hour after the firemen left. All the women at school found it hilarious that my thoughts for help were to yell for the slacker man at school, lol. Sexism alive and well in my head. He is cute though (wink). Shhh dont tell my DH.0 -
Markat hahaha (Tek what a riot) what did u think the wind from u'r arms was going to put out the fire. Boy he mustbe cute LOL

Jinkala... both cats came to us from abandoned early, early kittenhood. (One was about three weeks old, dehydrated to the point of being skeletal... and as a result, has stayed kitten-sized even though she's two years old.) Anyway, long story short--they both curl up, purr a while, and fall asleep with their only knowninmemory mama cat...me. If they pounced and played at bedtime, I'd boot them out, too! :-)
bgirl, teka, Snowy hermits... be safe. Don't overdo. Shoveling snow is quite a workout.
Camille... what does gs do for Valentines? I made tootsie pop super heroes last year, and the kids loved them. (easy, too.)
Teka... save a plane seat for me. FL, you'll have a crowd!

I love the furbaby story and thank God u came along poor baby but they are both happy now and u too.
That is so clever Skittle.--Joey and my DD got some candy cards today and they took and empty seriel box and completely covered it with red and pink construction paper (with hearts) and he'll put his stuff in there for school. Then of course he ets his mommy a card that he makes
0 -
Yes I definitely was flapping like a chicken.
Skittle my cat is small like that also. We adopted her at 6months from the shelter and she really hasn't gotten much bigger. She screams like a banshee when her food dish is empty, terrified that the dog will eat it all.
Well we had a nice lazy night. The girls went to my mom's and we went grocery shopping. I want to make some cute Valentines with the girls but girl scout cookies came in today so we might have to just do the boxed kind this year.0 -
AWWWW Markat u sound o mommyish, it sounds so cute.

Cookies, remember the days of having a dining room full. My girls are older now.

Jan I remember having a garage full and I had to organize all of them for delivery--I did that once--that was it.
