Glad to hear your news Cat. I have a PET on Monday as they want to check a lymph node that showed up on a CT scan a couple of weeks ago. Praying it is nothing and all is well.
Can you share more on the T-cell treatment? Also what is the VICE program? Any new treatments are good to know about.
Have a great weekend and if you're dealing with snow stay warm and if you have sunshine, like we do here in the NW enjoy. But it is very chilly right now in the morning.

Spirit - hope you get good news from the Pet scan! VICE is not a study, it is a documentary series/ investigative reporting. The last episode was about cancer and 3 clinical trials (not for breast cancer- I think it was neuroglioblastoma, multiple myeloma and leukemia) in which they used genetically modified viruses to attack cancer cells and they had very good results.
I don't know about the T cell treatment but I'll try to find out. If there is a clinical trial it should be posted on clinical trials.gov.

lbgal: Thanks for clarifying that VICE is a documentary and not a study or treatment. And when you said good results, they showed one instance of 100%: 4 out of 4 went into full remission.

I have been lurking on this board for some time but only posting on Brain Mets as that was my first met diagnosis last July, 18 months after original diagnosis. One lesion than appeared in pelvis at Xmas and last week lymph node in chest lit up on a pet scan, confirmed by biopsy. Brain MRI tomorrow... Wish me luck! Oncologist switched meds from Xeloda to Gemzar/Cisplatin.
I'm posting because Lucy asked about new treatments. My oncologist - who's at the innovative end of the spectrum - has also put me on Keytruda, the melanoma drug. He is v excited about it. Not covered by insurance here alas.

Are you BRCA positive or negative? I heard that some of the newer drugs like Keytruda are in clinical trials for TNBC with and without BRCA mutations. Just curious

Brain MRI was clear. So now just got to focus on the chemo and the new immunotherapy treatment to stay that way. Thank you for good thoughts and wishes. Hope good news comes to others too

It's called Keytruda and was fast-tracked for melanoma. My onc says it is intended to unleash your own immune system, that the cancer cells cloak themselves so the immune system doesn't recognise them but that this drug removes the cloaking. I have started taking it alongside regular chemo (ie it's not a replacement). There was a v small study in relation to TNBC presented at the San Antonio conference in December. But there seems to be quite a buzz about it

Bosco thanks for the update. Congrats on the MRI results...Right On! I see you were on Avastin, I am on that now and have been for a while along with a pill as a targeted therapy.

Morning,
Been a while since I was on here but doesnt look like anyone has been here for a bit. I had my PET and it shows a few lymph nodes in my left Breast and also one behind my stomach and near back. Waiting for biopsy to be scheduled next week. MO thinks it is just my lymph nodes doing their job. As it also shows continued shrinkage on the tumors on lung. Since last scan is 12% all total is now 86% shrinkage...Thank God!

Whew...what a whirlwind of a day. So the results of the biopsy shows the lymph node is the same TNBC...so God will take me on another journey. Not the news I wanted to hear at all. So for now the plan is I am off the study trial that I had been on. My MO says it's been really good for me and has done a great job but now it has failed and its time to move on to another treatment. She wants me to take a couple of weeks off to clear out system and is recommending a few options. One is Xeloda which is a pill. The other is Eribulin infusion chemo which is on a study trial as well. Anyone have experience with these?
God will be with me on this journey too. It is discouraging I must admit and it makes me sad. We are going tomorrow for our camping trip and it is supposed to be a nice weekend...thank God! It will be nice to take a break for. My treatment and pills. But it will also be very odd to not have my pill to pray over. The doc said I can take 2 or 3 weeks and it would be fine and I will make a decision on what I need to do. I will be praying for God to give me wisdom and clarity in directing my decision. She gave me some info on the drugs and so I will be doing some reading after we get back on Sunday.
I plan to spend some time this weekend connecting with my soul and spirit and getting back on track and grounded. Today was tough but I know it won't last long. I have to keep my eyes on God and stay focused and positive.

Hi everyone. Sorry haven't been on for quite a while. I hope everybody is doing well, I have just been to my oncologist today after 2 months off treatment fearing the worst as I felt swelling in the sternum but he said after looking at my blood tests and examine me that he thinks I am ok and to see him again in 3 months so I am RELIEVED! Prayer really works . All the best Barbar

Lucy - I am glad you get a break from treatment. I would love to hear what you decide on next treatment. I am waiting for my brain MRI next monday and pray it is clear. My onc also wants me to look at clinical trials and one is with Eribulin (Halavan).

Lucy and Catwhispurrer - I was on a Halaven/Eribulin trial briefly for widespread mets. The trial was Halaven combined with mifepristone, which is supposed to lower the body's resistance to chemo. It didn't work for me, but I've heard from my onc and one of the nurses (informally)that they're seeing good results. And this trial was specifically targeting TN stage 4/metastatic. If you go that route, I hope you'll be among the lucky ones!
