Glad to hear you are feeling better Wren! for sure tell them women need to hear quickly about mammo results. I cannot complain because I have a phone number to call after about 11/2 hours of mammo and get a recorded message if I need further tests or not. Then that afternoon I see the dr. But before I had to go to Mayo I would wait almost 2 weeks for an answer, then if something showed, another week or so for appt then back to waiting on results... just like a hamster on a wheel!! Sure yours is fine if you havent heard by now.
We took alot of trolley tours while in San Diego, caught a city bus to Old Town and got on trolley, you could get off and on as you like, we ended up doing 4 different tours that way,, really enjoyed them and could see alot and do as much walking as you like. Have fun.

Hello all, and gramwe, so wonderful to hear from you! But I hate that you're in pain, so not fair.
Oh, how I have waited for the baby update, I was afraid she had arrived already and we didn't know. Good to hear the OG is doing well, but sorry he still isn't at work, that's hard on everyone.
Did we know the Weasel had a son? I don't recall that one, has he manned up at all? We have recently been exposed to his twin brother with one of Colin's favorite carers' daughter announcing she is pregnant to the most dreadful loser I have had the misfortune to meet, in many a long year. I have been privy to a lot of the angst and the pleading for her to kick him to the kerb (aussie sp) to no avail. I have seen first hand, some of what you have been through. I so hope the Weasel is transformed when this baby emerges.
Big gentle hugs from me to you gramwe!

ndgirl, I thought that may have been a shot from your holiday. It is so lovely! My paradise is cooling down this week which is good since I can't do much. I am seeing the signs of the another season. We will likely get another hot burst in March and then the cold winds will take my breath away as the Winter arrives.
I hate this waiting crap for results. We wait for 3 weeks to receive a letter from BreastScreen after a mammo. If there is a call back we get a phone call, but it is still 3 weeks of waiting. Just long enough to have sort of forgotten about it and then "BAM". So not right! M x

Hi Wren, great idea to do the short trip as a trial.
You're absolutely right about babies! I remember when I was pregnant with Bec, telling her it was much nicer on the outside! She decided to arrive 2 days before the scheduled caesar, that was a lot of fun! Not! Take care and I hope you are over that back pain. M x

I did it again Ariom!!!
Hi gramwe!! so good to hear from you! So sorry you are in pain though. I had thought maybe baby had arrived and that was why you were MIA. Sounds like soo though. I don't recall hearing that the Weasel had a son either. I sure hope he steps up big time or DD kicks his sorry a$$ out! Good that OG is healing well, I bet he wants to get out and back to work as much as you want him to!! Sounds like the last week has been very trying for everyone. Hope it gets lots better soon!!
ndgirl, love the photo! San Diego is such a lovely place with lots of history and ethnic diversity.
Wren, here's hoping that no news is good news! I so agree the waiting for results sux!!
Ariom, sorry about the Weasel's twin there! What is wrong with these guys that won't step up???
Windy and snowing lightly here. Temp went up to 40°F so most of what fell last night melted of its own accord. So no shoveling!! It is supposed to snow a lot more overnight so don't know if that will be the case tomorrow.
I have a big pot of turkey chili on the stove and I am boiling the bones to make stock. The house smells wonderful!!
Funny thing is, I don't really like turkey! I accidentally picked up rotisserie turkey breast instead of chicken yesterday at the store, so I am cooking it up as spicy as I can to hide the taste. I am going to make some kind of curry with the rest. I'll have a bunch of dinners in the freezer form this mistake!! Oh well....
Hugs to everyone!

GrammaB I could never wrap my brain around the taste of turkey chili with the thanksgiving smell. Glad you didn't have to shovel.
Poor Granwe. I can't imagine. You must love your DD very much to endure all that on top of pain and an OG housebound. The things we do for babies. I hope you get your pain sorted out soon so you can enjoy that baby. Please tell OG you must have the tablet to post the delivery details or he will have a herd of worried women at his door, some with boobs, some without, some with hair, some without, some on hormones and some not. But all survivors with scars to prove it and we don't take crap off nobody. Plus we might have to wear those scarves FIA found:)
M. It's hard to believe you are talking about the season changing. I guess it's closer than we think. It's 70 right now and bad storms or tornados coming thru tonight. That's usually April weather.
I did manage to snag an appt with a LE PT today. She's awesome and we clicked so much better than my other one. I have a mild case and have to go in twice a week. Have scars from drains and now rads. Will have to be careful, exercise and massage every day for the rest of my life. I'm really going to have to make myself a priority.
Off to do my stuff. Hope I can stay awake. Tomorrow is all mine! I can't wait.
Hello to everyone else.

Zills, no Thanksgiving smell to this turkey. It was garlic pepper seasoned, nothingThanksgiving about it. I'm hoping it is going to be just like chicken chili. It simmered all afternoon in lots of chili spices. At the end I zested a lemon and juiced half of it into the pot and it has a nice fresh taste. It made 5 meals, one I will have tonight, 4 into the freezer. By the time I add sharp cheddar cheese, fresh cilantro, sour cream, and Habanero/Chipotle sauce, it should be quite yummy!
Glad you like your new LE PT! Yay for a free day!!
Hugs!

ND. Love that pic! And northern lights? I would love to see that.
My kids have perfect timing. Every time I try to post. Wanted some peace and quiet first thing in the morning. Oh well. I'll be back.

Good news here...I called this morning to cancel my drain removal appt. because I'm still at 30 cc ..and I asked the nurse when the path report would be in. She said "yeah, it's in". insert panic, omg why haven't they called etc.... all thoughts flying within 2 seconds in my head...then she said "it's clear, no residual cancer... we were going to tell you when you came in today". WOOHOO. What a relief. That trumps the "oh shit I have to keep my drain in" anyday Sitting here in kind of disbelief and wonderment...now all I have to do is heal.
Thank you all for your encouragement on the scar and knowing it will get better. I think it's better already. It's been feeling kind of tight and swollen the last couple of days..some bruising too, but I'm doing well and only taking advil. Right about now I don't care much about the scar now that I know it's all clear!
Just had to share my news. Thank you all for everything.

PRB ,
AWESOME NEWS FOR YOU !!! Congrats !!

Best news PRB, drains will come soon, I left mine in longer than I really had to , just to be sure. Not saying that is the thing to do tho, just me and my idea. so glad for you!
Zills, google valley news live in Fargo ND, they had great pics from a lot of viewers that sent in their photos, not sure if still there tho. They are beautiful.

PRB, that's fantastic news!! Congratulations! Does this mean definitely no rads for you? Glad you're keeping the drain a little longer, it's useful but you'll be happy when it's out. I am so truly happy (gotta think of synonyms!) that you are in such a great frame of mind. Yippee!
Zills, glad you will have the LE looked after, by someone you click with. You are right about making yourself a priority, it's definitely tough to do when everyone wants a piece of us. I hope you don't get a tornado!
Granwe, nice to hear from you! Last week must have been crazy with all these people at your place. Sorry about the joint pain, I hope they figure out what it is and can help you. Any day now, that little baby will greet the world! The anticipation must be a killer! Good luck to your DD and yeah, I hope the weasel steps up to the plate.
Hi TB, how did your first rad go yesterday?
gB, if you ever feel like coming to my area to cook, you are more than welcome!
ndgirl, unfortunately, city lights block off any potential sighting of northern lights here. Hopefully TB is in a better location than me for this, they must be so pretty! I love your new San Diego pic!
Hi M, how are you feeling? Have fun at the music festival!
Wren, good that it seems nothing is wrong from the mammo, no news is good news! But you are right, we would so want to hear back sooner, and get confirmation that all is good when it is. A 2-minute phone call that would help a lot!
I went for chemo #2 yesterday, I asked for the same nurse if possible and got him, so everything went smoothly. I'm feeling more nauseous than last time, but it's not too bad. I think I had abused my stomach in the days before treatment (too much food and coffee), so that was not a good idea. Lesson learned!
0 -
octet, glad you got the same nurse, anything that helps you get throughout treatments is welcome. Hope you can keep the nausea at bay too. FYI, we went to Canada for supper last night and they all had fun teasing us "Yankees" about the Olympic win over the women,s hockey! All in fun.

PRB. Yeehaw! That's most excellent. I know you are doing the happy dance.
SgC hang tough. We're here for the good, bad and ugly. Can you get your husband to go to your PCP with you and bring up depression? We know pain does not make us happy campers. Can you get a referral to a lymohedena specialist. She can probably fix your arm if it's LE or cording.
Idesim. All moved in?
OTC Try chewing gum or an antacid or ginger tea or candy or sleepy time tea will help your stomach. I found I needed to keep something in it so ate every few hours. Also that mindless hand to mouth helped. I ate soup crackers, dry cereal, animal crackers one after another. How many rounds are you having?
We had warnings last night but don't see any damage. It's chilly now with the wind blowing. Think even the parking lot snow is gone. Tinges of green in the grass. Boy wants to know when it's going to snow again.
Anyone have good soup recipes? Kid friendly? Seafood recipes?
We try to do fish on Fridays too. Meatless meals are breakfast, cheese pizza, nachos, tomato soup and grilled cheese, soup beans and cornbread. My fav is cheese and onion enchiladas.

Zills, I too feel I need something in my stomach every few hours. I'm trying to drink a lot, as told, but it does not feel good on an empty stomach. I will try tea, I have ginger chews and peppermints on standby. As for recipes, I don't have good ones for soup. For kid-friendly ones, it depends on the kid I find. My DS sometimes goes through phases where he does not like things mixed up, so a kid-friendly recipe that would mix the veggie and meat with pasta would not be appreciated by him. But he's an adventureous eater: calamari (not fried), mussels, blue cheese, olives, etc., he likes them all! He loves food so much, when he's in a grocery store, he stops at what he likes and can say "Ham!!! I LOVE ham!!" and crack up everyone around him! One thing that helps is serving him things he likes less (broccoli) with something he likes a lot (whole wheat KD) - even if he still complains at having to eat broccoli, he knows he has too to get KD. I have a box of recipes from my mother & magazines, but I find myself just going on the internet to find recipes.
ndgirl, sorry, yeah, it's a really good Olympic for Canada! And we just won gold in men's hockey too! Thanks for being a good sport!

oops, the men's hockey is still going on, I was ahead of myself. Shows how much attention I'm paying to these things!

My grandsons will eat vegetables if they can dip them in sauce (sesame salad dressing). One even adores parsley.

Ginger tea. Peel and chop 1" of the root. Bring to a boil in a small saucepan of water (2 cups?). Steep for 15 minutes. Strain. Sweeten if desired. Can drink hot or cold. Store in fridge.
I added green tea to mine. It's very light. I also found frozen ginger in ice cubes at Walmart. I prefer the root but you could pop the cubes into a cup of tea or hot water.

PRB, Doing the happy dance with you. Nothing beats those clean path reports.
Granwe, Are you using loratidine (Claritin)? Lots of women say that helps with joint pain. Good luck with the weasel (there's one in our family too).

Yay!!! Awesome news PRB!! Now you can really relax and heal!! Don't rush the drains, get as much of that fluid out as possible. Here they won't remove until output is less than 20cc a day.
otc, glad you were able to get the same nurse for your chemo. Anything that makes it easier is good. Hope the nausea doesn't hit too hard.
It is windy and snowing, had about 3" of new snow last night. I have to go out to mail a package so I need to get out and get shoveling. I'll check back in later.
Hugs for everyone!!

Phew, what a lot of posts this morning.
PRB, I am so amazed by the change in you! It is an absolute joy to read your posts and hear how good you sound. To get this Pathology result is sensational, so it's all "onward and upward!" from here. Congratulations from me!
otceb, I am feeling good, thank you, I woke up with my arm stretched way above my head this morning, but not sore at all. I have turned that corner, I think!
I am glad to hear you've had chemo number 2, but I hope you can get the nausea under control, such a crap feeling.
Your son reminds me of Bec. She had fairly exotic taste for a young child too. It made me gag to give her Blue Cheese, but she loved it! Barry, our delivery man loves it grilled on Figs with Honey or Maple Syrup, so I am keeping him happy with bags of sensational Figs right now. I love the "I love ham!" story, too!
Hi, nd, fia, hope you're having a nice day.
Zills, I hope you've had a good day on your own.
SGC, I hope you are feeling better, great advice as always from Zills.
gB, You beat me here this time, so sorry the shoveling has started again for you! You'll be so strong after all this!
Wren, are you feeling ok?
Well, I have the house to myself today. Colin is going Model Boat racing this morning, Dex is still at the kennel, so I will do my nails, and give myself a facial for tonight. We are going to the Golf club for dinner and to see a band with a group of people organized by my massage therapist. I am going to surprise her with pictures of my new present from Colin. He bought me a beautiful blue kayak to enjoy the lake. I thought I would leave it till the Winter and buy one off season, but we did some research and found one that was just right for me. It is a "Point 65 Tequila" and has the amazing ability to be taken apart so it is really lightweight. It is a single, but comes with a mid section that can be attached to make it into a 2 person kayak. Best of all it fits into the rear of my car, so no need for a roof rack, or even a trolley to get it from here to the boat ramp. He bought it from a woman on Ebay who delivered it last night. It came with lots of accessories, so I am thrilled. I don't know when I will be able to try it out yet, maybe a call to the Surgeon to find out what he thinks.
Going to a garage sale this morning and to the Opp Shop to catch up with some of the girls...hugs to everyone..M x

Ariom, oh wow, you got a kayak, you live in a perfect place for that, how great is that?? you will be in great shape when you get with the program. Hope you have a great time listening to the band tonight and surprising your massage therapist. you speak of figs, while in Balboa Park there were many fig trees and figs falling all over the ground! I had never seen a fig tree before, these had just huge leaves.. my friend and I made comments about Adam and Eve fig leaves that were probably quite off color?? Enjoy your night out. Keep us posted on your progress with kayaking.

Hi ndgirl, I just got back from the Opp Shop. I have been listening to a Pipe Band practicing for this afternoon on the stage on the water. There is nothing that can get me teary like a pipe band. Bec is the same! It must be the Sottish Roots. I rang Bec so she could hear them, she was out late last night with friends from work, so I woke her, but she was happy to hear the band.
I have been out checking out the kayak. I can't wait to get out on the water, but I am not sure when I will get the go ahead from the surgeon. I may have to wait till next season, if it gets too cold. I have just had my neighbors in having a look at it. There's a real chance they will take it out before me!
Speaking of Figs, the same neighbor wanted more Figs. The last lot I gave her are finished and she loved them. They have a much smaller tree in their yard, but the figs aren't as good. She is making a Fig tart. One of my other friends was here last weekend picking bucket loads and today she had 3 jars of Fig Jam/Jelly? and one of Green Tomato relish for me. Yumm! I can't give enough Figs away, the tree is just covered in them and every day there is another bucket load that have ripened. The birds are having a ball too, but fortunately this crop is so big there is enough for everyone. I just love to look at this tree, it's so old, and yes, it has huge leaves too, I can imagine you and your friend's comments!LOL M x

Yep, nothing like strathspeys and reels to get the toes tappin. Or a piobaireachd to slow it down. My favorites are Scotch on the Rocks, and Drunken Piper.

Spookiesmom! I had forgotten those words! My Mother loved the pipes and never missed watching the Edinburgh Tattoo after we came to Australia. M x

I had a BMX in 2010. I am 53. I don't know if this is the correct forum to share my experience, but I will try anyway. I tested positive BRCA2. Immediately decided to simplify my survival plan and lose the boobs. I have not seriously considered reconstruction because I want the best chance for detection of a recurrence. I tried prophylactics and decided that they suck. Now I go around being me, Flat and Happy. It has opened me up in other areas as well People can just deal with a woman with divets rather than big floppy boobs. The divets are more comfortable, discounting the nerve damage and loss of upper body strength. I LOVE sleeping on my tummy. I wear t-shirts to work and NOBODY is about to challenge me on that. But I do try to dress them up with scarves and stuff. I run for fun. Considering that prior to my BMX I was well-endowed, I never enjoyed running. Now I love it. I still like to keep my options open. If I opt for reconstructive surgery my insurance will cover it. But I seriously don't believe it would improve the quality of my life. I see bumper stickers that say Save The Tatas and I think Screw the Tatas, Save the Person!!!!! Fuck the Tatas.

I found the corset with the velcro straps to be very helpful in reducing water retention. And the knowledge that this too shall pass. Seriously, the drains were the hardest part of recovery and the corset helped the most.

I have to say, why shovel? There are plenty of God-loving Christian men in this world who would be ashamed to let a woman recovering from breast surgery shovel snow, even after a few years.. Please, ladies, don't deny them their moment of gallantry. They live for that, to be of service to fellow humans, women, and society in general. Don't we all? Take advantage of everyone. It is hard at first, but soon, you see the genuine joy each individual knows from selfless service to others. Many people wait their whole lives to be needed and don't hear the call. Maybe you are supposed to be the light and the way, even if you see yourself as strong and independent. You deserve help. Take and give.

Hi there FlatandHappy, welcome to our merry band of flat and fabulous women!!
I'm not sure if the shoveling was about me or not, but just a little back history. I live in rural MT and am a widow. If I want to go out and about, I have to shovel the snow off my driveway and the walkways too, so I don't slip and fall. Just shoveling snow is not so bad, actually pretty good exercise! Now last week, when I was chipping ice and trying to stop flooding, not so much.
Looking forward to getting to know you!
