new and future flat sister, with questions

Oh Bobo, what a beautiful story, As Wren says the Buddhists believe a higher incarnation comes from a good life, I think that could be true in this instance!
I understand your feeling about telling your own story, after another, but you know what? I find that we all have such similar stories because we are all so like minded.
I actually took the kayak photo for Bec, but thought I'd introduce "Tequila" to all of you! Someone asked to see me in it, but who knows when that will happen. The other girls have named their Kayaks, I just like the name that's on mine already. It suits her, and I've had my fair share of fun with "Tequila" in my younger days!LOL
PRB, Would you believe we had a Date Palm in our garden at the last house. We never actually had dates from it, but the seeds were a menace, all over the place. Dates come from those huge palm trees that you see in exotic places or lined up down a road. A fig is just a fruit tree, but with big leaves that look a bit like the shape of a hand.
I am sorry your sister had to go, but she might be back soon, so that's a bonus. I am such a believer in the "Balance" theory, and I loved that quote! M x

Oh Spookiesmom, I am so sorry. It is just the hardest thing, you ever have to do. M x
0 -
Um, I had to go blow my nose.
You do live in Paradise. Just bee u tee full there! Do you get rats coming for the figs? When we had citrus trees, the rats would pull a fruit, have a bite, drop it and move on. Made quite a mess. Like you, it's hard to give away, they're all over. DH cut all ours down.

Bobo what a beautiful story. I know you are private so thank you for sharing .
Wren I am a real believer in Karma
All thank you for your thoughts........... I hope I did not make any ones memories more painful ..........
Zills, I love your children's antics................ Today my grown son came over to console me about the dog........... I asked him what his most vivid memory was of childhood. WARNING GRAPHICS coming. He said "that one time I had the flu really bad and you gave me alphabet soup (he was about 7) . I threw up all over the bedroom wall and the letters stuck to the wall and I made you go check see if I spelled anything " ................ Priceless.........................

Hi Spookiesmom, I am sorry you're feeling sad.
I haven't seen any rats, yet, thank goodness! I am only just, becoming accustomed to the country, but rats, no I don't think I'll handle that well! Ughhh
We do, however, have 3 very large Bats, or Flying Foxes as they call them here that come in every night. One is so large that when it takes off the wing span is just huge. I avoid walking under that tree at night. The Rosellas, which are the brightest primary green, reds, blues you can imagine take over during the day. It is amazing how many are fed from this one tree.
Fia, I love the spelling story...and did he, spell anything???? LOL
Where is ldesim? and gramwe, there must be a baby by now...we need you to wrestle the OG for the tablet for a quick update, you know how I live through you all, for grandchildren stories! M x

Losing a pet is worse than losing a human because you and your pet had mutual love. Relationships with people are more complicated so your feelings are more conflicted.
Fla, That story is hilarious! What a thing for a kid to remember. I'm not sure what my most vivid memory is. I will have to think.

21°F (-6.1°C) here right now and still snowing. Had about 8" of new snow since I last shoveled yesterday afternoon. Now this is what winter in MT is supposed to be like!! Will shovel when I finish this post and then maybe once more before dinner. Look out ndgirl, I imagine this is all coming your way!!
Fia, what a thing for him to remember, you are right Priceless!!
Waiting anxiously for a Gramwe report. We must have baby by now!!
Hugs to all!

Our weather is stuck, but not on snow. Last week was in the 40's and rain every day. This week is in the very low 50's and rain every day. At least it doesn't need shoveling, but how dreary.
Ok, I'm going to learn to kayak. I haven't done it because the water is so darn cold here. We went to the beach frequently when we lived in Houston, but here both the water and air are cold. Windsurfers in Hood River wear wet suits.

Quiet in here today! GB, how do you do it? I can't imagine shoveling twice in a day! Is your terrain rough? Is that why you don't have a snow blower? I have to say, I do like to snow blow. Not really sure why that is...perhaps it's just the nice feeling I get knowing I don't have to shovel. lol
Wren, you go girl.. I think kayaking would be fun. I may look into the bc rowing team once I'm healed. It may not happen this year, but maybe next.
We are -2 with the windchill. Unreal....but it's nice that I can stay indoors during my recovery...well.. until I have to leave in 5 minutes to go pick up dd who's school is 15 minutes away. I suppose it's good to get me out of the house 2 times a day, otherwise I would still be in bed!
Take care all.

Wren, I just got up, it is early for me, still not too light, but my friend is out in her Kayak right now. I pulled the blinds for Colin to see her, she is just gliding across the water with no effort. I flashed the bedroom lights and she lifted her paddle to wave. I can't wait to get out there too. It's misty and cool this morning but the Pelicans are out there too.
I just sent her a text saying "I see you!" and she came back with "See the Dolphins?" I tried to get a photo for you, but they are too far out for my camera to pick up. Sigh!
I just hope it will be warm enough in a couple of weeks for me to get out there. Grrr, I hate waiting. M x

Hi PRB! are you driving already? You're amazing, I was still zonked trying to focus my eyes from the anesthetic at this point.
Although I never have to contend with snow, and a good thing too, because I am phobic about the crunch it makes when you walk in it. Just like nails on a blackboard to me it sets my teeth on edge, but if I ever did have to clean it up, I don't know how I would keep up, like gB does. I think I would just throw myself on a pile of it and have a bit of a tantrum.
gB, I don't know where you get all the energy to do it...... You beat me here today!

I'm back! A full hour of shoveling, got driveway pad and all paths done. It is still lightly snowing but may not have to shovel again today if it stays this light. Amazingly no Claw, but low back is telling me "enough already"!
I just hope the worst is over because I have appt with MO on Wed and don't want to be shoveling that morning.
PRB I was driving at a week too. My BS said as long as I wasn't on the heavy duty pain meds it was OK. I drove to the PO to pick up my mail. When the visiting nurse came to help with the shower that day, she scolded me for driving before dr's release. Oh well.
When DH was alive and we lived in the Sierras in CA, we once got a snow blower. It was a comedy of errors!! There we had a steep long driveway and usually just left the car at the bottom once the snow came. It seemed like a good idea to use the blower for the path to the house. Neither of us were getting any younger!! I had a heck of a time operating it, at one point it had me pinned between it and the car when I was trying to turn. DH was laughing so hard!! He didn't like it either, so we ended up selling it and going back to shovels. It is very flat here and the snow is so much lighter than in CA. I figure as long as I can do it, it is great exercise. Besides, blowers are expensive and are another machine that needs maintenance and repair. I am not the least bit mechanical so I would be paying for all that. $ not really in my budget.
Patience Ariom, you don't want to do anything to your stitches!! I can imagine the waiting is killing you! Especially watching your friend out there!
LOL, I got up early today. My 3yr old DGD called me on the phone to say "Hi Gramma" and then wandered off. DD's DLLP said she lately has been calling various family members and talking on the phone. DLLP said DGD usually wants to call me at night but she thought it was too late. Told her never too late or too early, let her call! So may day started 2 hrs earlier than normal.
May be heading for a nana nap though!
Hugs for everyone!

We had to explain to the GS not to call until it was light outside. He would wake up at 4am.

M - I actually drove my sister's car to pick up my daughter on Friday... 4 days out from surgery. I was told as long as I wasn't on pain pills, I was good to go. My sister drove DD to school the first couple of days while I just rode along. She is from a small town and doesn't like driving on the highway, so we took city streets. The roads are in miserable shape with potholes everywhere from the crazy weather we've had. I was so tense and afraid she was going to hit the potholes...that by Friday I volunteered to drive so we could take the highway. I think I could have driven myself home from the hospital the first day I felt so good. I am actually much sorer now than I was the first few days. Last night I did the worst thing... I went to bed early and was sleeping on my left side..the phone rang, and in my slumber, I reached all the way over to the right to get the phone. OUCH. *#$(@ that hurt.
I go in tomorrow to hopefully get my drain out...really looking forward to that! There's something about having a hole in your side that is just weird, right? Why we don't all get infections is beyond me.
0 -
Hi PRB, it's weird how different the "rules" are in different locations. We are told not to drive till we could take a fair hit in the chest from the seat belt. That translated to about 3 weeks for me, but I have such a lousy time with anesthetic that I was still seeing double for some time after surgery, even though I felt great, so driving wasn't an option for me. We get the drains out when the output is 50ml or under. I agree about the hole in our side, but I did get an infection, in the incision itself, it isn't uncommon, unfortunately.
Ouch, I felt that! It doesn't take a lot to stretch and give yourself a painful fright! I even did it with this little revision, I woke with my arm above my head, but how do you control that when you're sleeping?
I am going this afternoon to get the dressing removed at the local Doctor's clinic. I just can't reach far enough around to get all the Tegaderm off. I hope it will all be healed and I can start doing some massage and stretching.
Take it easy, and I hope you get the drain out! M x

Bobo, Are you completely flat now? I somehow thought you needed to get the other TE removed and had that scheduled. I'm easily confused and may have that wrong.
Ariom, Hope you will be dressing free and good to go. We once lived in a mobile home where the mattress was all that fit into the bedroom (dressers were built in). My arm would go above my head and be numb when I woke up. The cure was to wear pajamas and pin the sleeve to the bottom.
I need to get to the store to find something for dinner. DH may need an operation and will probably starve while he's at my mercy in the kitchen.
It seems like all this posting is getting to my spelling. I noticed that I'd spelled it curtins on a storage container. I used to be a good speller, but it seems to be getting more phonetic.

Ariom, here's hoping that you can begin the massaging & stretching!!
Wren, sorry about DH. Did I miss mention of this before? Hope it isn't anything really serious.
Maybe he can cook ahead and freeze some meals? It really saved me the first week or so.
Hugs!

Good luck Ariom and hope you can get doing the things you like soon.
How is the shoveling going GB?? so far we didnt get your snow, but look out tomorrow for the bloody wind.. yes I said bloody! you all know I live close to Canada!! Vivtwins would say it too, wonder where and how she is doing? But this wind will not quit, grrrr. still cold here too. March is soon here and sometimes that can mean a heap of snow for us, but then it will melt quicker!
Hello to all, am off to work for a few hours today.
0 -
Yep, Birdie, I am. I had the other TE deflated. So it's a mess, and it's bumpy, but it's flat.
What is happening with DH? And can you order out?
0 -
The drain is OUT! Dang that is such a relief..and amazing that it doesn't hurt when removed.
Now for the not so good news... I have a lot of ice in my driveway and have been very careful walking to and from the car. This morning was trash day...and when I tipped the container to make it roll, it slid out and took me down with it. Yup.. fell on my mx side ..layed there in a daze and felt like a f*ing fool. Nothing really hurt, but I do have a very large bump/bruise on my arm and an abrasion on my elbow. Lucky for me my appointment for the sx follow-up was literally 2 hours after the fall. My surgeon said everything looked fine...that there's nothing really to tear internally. *whew*
She told me it will be a good month before all the swelling is gone and to rub vitamin E oil on the incision. Is that what you guys used?
0 -
PRB, Ouch!! Good thing you could get it seen right away so's not to worry. I did use Vitamin E in almond oil. You can also buy the capsules and poke one to get the oil.
Bobo, So is it still in and just not inflated? Will it be taken out eventually? We could definitely order takeout or pop by our favorite cheap restaurants and it stuff to go. And our grocery has a decent selection of deli foods ready to go. There are enough vegetarians and vegans here that it's easy to get appropriate takeout.
0 -
PRB, ouch, glad you are ok, I hate ice much worse than snow, at least you can keep you feet under you in snow. I used vitamin e and also coconut oil, which I love.

Finally I got my mammo results. Birads 1. What pisses me off is that the doctor signed it on 2/18 and it's taken 7 additional days to hit my chart. I don't know why that took so long. I intend to suggest that getting the word to BC patients sooner would be really good public relations.
DH has old guy prostate problems. Operation is elective but recommended. They're sending him a DVD about it that we can watch together. I'm just assuming there are things he'd rather be doing besides cooking - like taking pain meds and floating around the living room for instance.

Wren ,
Disgusting they cannot call you I would raise hell !!! Sorry re the DH's surgery , Make him cook ahead :-)
PRB , OMG hope you take it easy !!
Hello to everyone else ...........trying to focus and continue de hoarding this house..............
The picture below just made me laugh !!!! Enjoy !!

Fia - hah where do you come up with these? That one is great (but can anything top those boobs on a rope...I think not).
Wren - Glad your results are in and good. Time to relax! Congrats I can't imagine waiting that long for results. When I had my mammo, the radiologist came out and told me the news...he thought it was cancer. We scheduled the biopsy for 2 days later and the rest is history. So, basically I knew from the get go, and wasn't really surprised when I called for the results.

I'm back! I'll fill you in on happenings later in this post or later in general lol.
Wren, SO happy!! Yay! Doing the happy dance at my desk for you! I think you have every right to be pissed off.. they should know by now how very traumatic waiting for tests are for us. I think we could all accept a couple of days waiting, (would prefer a couple of hours lol) but 7 days is just too long in my opinion.
Fia, I am laughing over the veg soup and if anything was spelt on the wall... obviously he has your sense of humor and yes just where the HELL do you find all these things.. I almost peed myself on that last one.
I concur on the animals... I love animals more than humans most times I think and have had to put pets down and it is just one of the worst things to have to do
PRB, you sound great still, I am so happy to hear that!!! And yahooo!!! on the drain being out!! Don't you feel like a whole new person???? Glad you didn't suffer any damage on your fall.. yikes... i hate ice so much.
Wren, sorry to hear about DH and sorry to hear you guys will starve for awhile lol I agree with others and have DH cook and freeze meals, he'll probably only be out of whack for a couple of days. Or.. you can watch the video of the procedure over and over and I'm sure that will kill any appetites Just call it a cleanse!
GrammaB, I am laughing! One of my nephews did that all the time!!! He'd call and then wander off LOL. Sometimes my SIL's phone would be off the hook for hours before she realized it Sorry to hear about all your snow.. but I am glad somebody other than me is getting it!!!! We had a week off and even reached the 50's for 3 days in a row. It won't last as we have a couple of small storms coming our way... but hopefully they remain small and only a couple of inches.
Posting so I can run to ladies room 3 floors up lol. I've been trying to drink tons of water.. and am on 40 oz so far today. That's down 24 ounces from this time yesterday. This means I use a good part of the work day to run to the bathroom

PRB, Yay for the drain out, but boo for the fall. Glad no serious harm done. Also glad you had that appointment with dr so you wouldn't worry about it. The ice is exactly why I shovel so much, I want to keep the paths clear so I won't slip! I use Vit E oil and sometimes Emu oil or Coconut oil.
32°F and clear skies today. Had about 5-6" of new snow overnight, but looks like that will be it for a few days at least. Have done most of shoveling, but still have a bit more to do to clear the concrete pad clear. I decided to take a bit of a break and then go back to it later. I should go out to buy more birdseed, but I have to go out tomorrow to go to MO appt, so think I will wait a day. By then the roads should be thoroughly cleared. I've got some old yukky low carb bread I bought that I can put out for them today.
So this snow didn't come your way ndgirl? Interesting. No wind here thank goodness. I hope it stays that way, I hate the wind!!
Saw the first robins yesterday!! Spring is really on the way!! There were about 6 of them all puffed up sitting in the tree getting snowed on. Bet they were thinking, "Dang, we should have stayed down south another week"!!
Gramwe, do we have a baby yet??
Going to go out and finish the shoveling now, be back later.
Hugs for everyone!

M, I adore the pics.. thank you for posting them... what are those orange flowers? At first I thought they might be tulips, but after staring at them, I don't think so. They are beautiful and one of my fav colors! I am going to start buying lottery tickets too and if I ever did win, I would probably move there lol, but I would also send everybody over for a nice get together I am going to be devil's advocate.. but I think you should try out the kayak as long as somebody is on the water with you! Is there anyplace you can donate the figs too? What a shame to have them go to waste.
Bobo, you have told me that story before, but I still love it and do believe there was a connection between the two events. How have you been feeling? I can't wait for this chapter to be over for you, Imagine we had thought you'd have a wedding this coming month, it's amazing sometimes how fast things can change... any idea when you might decide to do it?? Would love a W bathroom update as well as a princess update. I hope they are happy in their new school. I have to wonder what is going through your boss's head at your lack of knockers, I am chuckling to myself that you never told them F explaining yourself.
I am also routing for Firebob in the house... I have never met the little guy, but am already in love with him.
I would hope that the watermelon has been born by now... I would imagine Granwe would find a way to tell us right away... she knows what PIA's were are
My office finally got finished and I am moved back in.. so happy all that BS is over! Last Thursday, got a call from BIL, they were having their oil tank filled when it exploded. I don't know all the technicalities, but something was frozen and it appears the oil delivery guy should have realized there was a problem instead of filling the tank until it burst. Needless to say there was a lot of damage and one hell of a mess... they are living out of a hotel currently and it looks like they won't be able to go back to their house for a few months. It appears at one time there was some sort of kitchenette down in the basement because when they removed flooring they found pipes and the oil went down the pipes and has found it's way into the soil in the backyard. So not only do they have to have most of their basement redone (which partly served as a family and laundry rooms), but they will have to have a good deal of the yard dug up as well to ensure all the oil has been removed. The good news is that it's completely covered by the oil companies insurance, and of course they are going to bend over backwards to keep them happy so they won't start negligence suit. So we went down this weekend and helped them clear out and inventory what was being thrown away. She had 2 freezers full of food down there.. what a shame. Thankfully, mementos and stuff that a lot of us put in the basement, were stored in their attic.
Hello to everybody and I apologize for not having a chance to respond to everybody!! you guys are too active to keep up with.. but I think about you all!!

Birdie, I too am happy with results! But I am mightily p1ssed about the delay. I swear, I was sweating bullets. I want to go over there and give that guy a piece of my mind. Perhaps I should x-ray his dick and then make him wait a month for the results. Ooh. Yuck. I'm grossing myself out. I am not looking forward to your DVD.
I say Order Out for the entire length of DH's convalescence. These days I feel it's probably cheaper. I spend so much money on groceries. And then I say to DLLP, we could have eaten out every night and we wouldn't have spent this much! Idesim has a great suggestion about the cleanse. That's even more economical.
Idesim, I have missed you! What is with the water challenge? Forty ounces? That's five glasses. Excuse me for counting. I just got a pedometer and it is fabulous. They say you should walk 10,000 steps in a day. I walk that just running back and forth on campus, after the kids, etc. I don't even have to try to walk more steps! No wonder I'm tired. I should be grading essays right now.
PRB, these ones will tell you that I had a massive fall after BMX surgery, in the shower. I mean, spectacular. I had many bruises, and one pretty serious one on my back. I thought it was because my feet were slippery because I'd put cream on them the night before. But now, in retrospect, I think it was the infection. Not that you have one. I'm just speaking for myself here.
Birdie, regarding my shape, I never really had inflated TEs. My PS put them in, really small ones. Even though I have always thought I would be rocking the flatness (see name of this thread, actually), I got scared about the fact that I might scare our Princess for the rest of her life -- she was seven at the time -- and I opted out at the last minute for really small TEs. Because my breasts were large, there was a plan that would involve no scars across the fake breasts; they'd be underneath. I liked the idea of not having to hide my chest from her at some point in future.
The TEs were put in, and then I got two infections, and started up on antibiotics -- weeks of them, different ones -- and then I went into the hospital for a week, and then I had emergency sx to rip out the one on the right side. They wouldn't take out both at the same time. I really cried over that. My PS had sold me a bill of goods -- everything really easy, no visible scars, no real time away from the kids, two simple surgeries and then nips in the office. I told him I didn't want to compromise my time with the children. Of course, all my worst fears came true -- deathly ill, weeks away in the hospital from the children, New Year's Eve ruined, and now my chest looks like Frankenstein's and I face additional surgery.
Anyway, my TEs were never really filled because of all that went on, and then they completely deflated the left one after they took the right one out. Even the little bit of fill I had at the first surgery still looked pretty flat, overall. So now I have one left TE, which is deflated, just the machine in there (it's painful), and the right side is a gouged-out mess with hanging skin. I had to walk out of the hospital (and then I was sick for a week with hospital flu) and right onto campus looking like that (and with drains). Not much transition time. So it's bumpy and uneven, but it's flat. And hopefully it's going to be smoother after sx on Wednesday. I'm still a little worried about things, because obviously I do not trust the PS, but he's by far the best one in the area. I could switch insurance carriers, then look for a new PS in a broader network, maybe out of town... but this other TE is a ticking time-bomb of possible infection, so I have opted not to do that.
I too am waiting for a baby update from Granwe.

Idesim, I am feeling okay, but worried! I feel badly about the wedding, too. Now we're planning for August. Shouldn't have any snow delays at that time... I can't wear what I'd planned to wear. But I can't even focus on that right now.
Our princess likes to come home with me afternoons and we make 'popcorn' (we're both allergic to corn) -- it's crunched up brown rice cakes, drizzled with vegan butter and olive oil, and then we sprinkle on a little brown (or maple) sugar. She has that every day. We do some chores, and then we have some popcorn. Tonight is make your own pizza for the kids. Our princess is talking back quite a bit lately. Example:
me: It's Wednesday, so don't forget your --
her (nastily, and she is wrong): It's not Wednesday! It's Thursday!
DLLP: It's time to take you to school. Get your --
her (nastily): It's time for you to TAKE YOURSELF TO SCHOOL!
So we've got paper on the fridge, and each time she talks back she puts a frownie face on the paper, and after four she has a day of 'work detail' on the weekend. But then she acts like she likes the work detail just to be perverse, and pretends to hum while she is wiping something (Hmmm hm hm hMMMM Hmmm, etc).
W boy bathroom update: Our bathroom smells like a sewer. We try to make him wipe it. He is the laziest person on Earth.
DLLP (to W boy this past Saturday): Please go get something on. I am trying to stay calm. No one wants to see that at breakfast.
I think you know what she meant by 'that.' OMG. He's peeing on everything, then not washing his hands, then walking into breakfast with his thing dripping dry on the way there. I am just gobsmacked by my own story.
Are you still badas$ M of H? I have been so worried. I have been too busy and too beaten down to do the fun work of planning the little City Hall wedding. It's really not my reality right now. I need to get my hope back. We really need to have that wedding, too. The gays are getting more and more rights, it's the Zeitgeist. XXX
