Hi ndgirl, so glad the party went well! Always one sneezy kid at every party! LOL

I thought we were the "Long Weekend" nation. We seem to have a day off for the opening of an envelope over here. I used to love it when I worked for United, we never got any holidays off unless it fell on a rostered day off. The penalties were insane, especially Christmas, it was double time and a half! We finished by lunchtime every day, unless we had a delayed flight, so we really had the best of both worlds. I only had one Christmas Day rostered off in 11 years, and I gave that to one of the girls with kids.

I do the open palm, large circles massage, but I also do a bit of the pinch and roll as well. It is really just to make sure everything is free and moving, and the skin is supple and hydrated.

I will check back later, but won't be here tomorrow. I have an early start, to drop Dex at the kennel and then an hour to the Surgeon for the Dog Ear removal. Hopefully I can hit the Mall in Sale after that, for lunch at my fave cafe and some shopping. We will see! M x

TB In the bag for you on Thursday.  Ariom, in the bag for you tomorrow.  I hope the result is what you wanted.

ndgirl, sounds like you had a great time at DGD's party. Hope no stray germs came home with you! ;)

    No problem ndgirl!

gB, the only result I want is to not have this thing, creeping over the side of my bra! LOL

Ariom:  You are approximately 17 hours ahead of us.  That helps me to gain a perspective of where you are in your day. Thanks.  What time is your procedure tomorrow.  I may not even be awake and it will all be over.  Sounds like quite a minor procedure compared to what you have already been though.  Bye bye doggie ear.

Oh M, I did not realize that you were having the dog ear removed tomorrow! In the bag for you!! Enjoy this (hopefully) LAST surgery!!!

ndgirl, the massage I do is with two fingers on the scar, doing circles all along the scar, then coming back doing zigzags, if that makes sense.

    Cheers!

Ariom, In the bag tomorrow. I have a dog ear too, but it stays within the bra band. Between being 73 and easily sunburned, I don't do a lot of baring in the summer.

PRB, in the bag for you as well. Don't you love the magic bags?

Goldie is posted for adoption. We send in 3 photos and a paragraph about the kitty. I let her write hers, explaining what she was looking for. Little bonus - she's become very playful the past week. Tosses the catnip mouse up in the air so she can pounce on it.

otc, thanks for the input on the scar massage.  I do palms in circles over the whole chest area and fingertips in circles over the scars.  I like the idea of zig zags too.

Wren, how cute you let Goldie write her own description!  It surely sounds like you are a cat whisperer.  You really understand each foster you care for and what would be the best home for each.

    Hugs!

Thank you! Just a small procedure, but will I will be glad to see the end of it. It isn't just that it can be seen with sleeveless clothing, it feels like a bundle of nerves all tied up in that piece of flesh, and when it sits over the bra side it is a sensation that drives me mad. Not pain just zinging and uncomfortable. It comes over the side of the bra no matter what else I wear and sets up this annoying sensation till I can relocate it back where it belongs. Hopefully it will just sit flat against me after this procedure. Even if the nerve thing is still there it won't be so bad.

I love the magic bag too...we can all be anywhere any time! Hugs...M x

This is definitely not the weekend to travel in the Northwest. I-5, our main N/S route thru Seattle is down to 1 lane in downtown Seattle, I-90, our main E/W route is closed in the pass for avalanche control, I-84 on the south side of the Columbia river is closed just before our exit to see DS due to a massive rock slide and the alternate route WS14 on the north side of the river is closed due to a boulder on the road and more looking iffy. Here in Seattle, it's just rainy with squalls of wind and hard rain. I think I'll stay put.

They just called to say they'll be here with my washer in 30 min!!!

In the bag for PRB and Ariom. Hope she's feeling well enough to do the shopping.

Heyyyyyyyyyy.  I survived :)  Surgery was at 8 am..  and I was home by 1 pm!  Feeling pretty good... and am about to take a nap.  I have to say I was a little surprised that my pain was around a 5 or 6 after surgery, but they gave me something in the IV and that calmed it down.  I just took another pain pill ... it only really hurts when I stand up or sit down...and the hurting is on my side.  Strange.

Anyhow, thank you all for the well wishes.  I actually read them all this morning before I headed out.  You are a fabulous group and I'm so happy to have found you...and that you have put up with my incessant whining.  Oh.. one last thing, the surgeon showed my sister (on her own boob.. yes that is why I love that woman) how big the incision was..and my sister said in her estimation it was around 3-4 inches.... way better than the 8 I was imagining.

So relieved this is over...and not feeling lopsided!!  Thank you again... I'll check in later tonight to see how M did with her dog ear too.

big ol *hugs* to all of you.

Oh, PRB, I just read this. Congrats for getting through this!  (Ain't it strange what we are grateful for and congratulate about post diagnosis.)

All the decision making and info gathering is so daunting. Sometimes the procedure itself is less than the worrying. And sometimes it is not.

    Bobo,

I have been following the series of unfortunate events and cannot believe what you have had to deal with. I am glad you started this forum and glad that the gathering of women that resulted has surrounded you and been in your bag and (lovingly) in your face, and hopefully held in your heart through this marathon you have been in.

And hello to you all, the vita mixers, the mamas, the Gramma's, the plumbers helpers, the sarong wearers.

    TB,

Ahhh, I did not know that you also had a positive margin. Me too. SUCH a bummer. After thinking mastectomy would be the end of it. Now it seems a forever in my own mind.

I too grappled with the stats of heart and lung damage, given rads to left side VS recurrence and metastases rates. I HATE how much I have learned. E.g., that even with zero nodes affected, one can still get a metastasis.

    I loved your quote:

"my son used to ask me when he was little and obsessed with sharks, dinosaurs, etc. "what would you rather be chased by, a shark or a bear?" I feel like I am having to make that decision now!"

I too chose the rads risks.

Where was your positive margin? Mine was on my chest wall. The fascia of the muscle was taken. But no muscle where the cancer still was. Hopefully rads zapped all that.

But the worry..and possible realities. I have been coughing some since end of rads and now full blown with losing my voice. I am "sure" I have lung cancer or rads damage to lungs. Advice nurse said my symptoms are those of the virus going around now and take forever to let up. I just cannot let a common symptom be. I now know too much, as we all here do. What might SEEM benign ("Just calcium deposits" for two years) can be life threatening.  Damn!

I'm awake for maybe another hour. I'll drool on somebody's shoulder while M shops. Wake me for ice cream or chocolate:)

I can't believe you are home PRB. I'm glad you sound so good. Hope your DD is feeling better.

Wren. Avalanches and big boulders don't sound like fun to me.

It's rainy and melty here. Hopefully not too wet so DH can get started back building. Afraid ground will be too soggy for concrete truck to get up the hill.

I had the house to myself for 4 hours. No whinging, no getting into stuff, no tv. Had hoped to make inroads into paperwork but so tired. Got some done. Maybe a little more tomorrow.

Nutritionist at Livestrong today. Said people over 40 need .59g x your weight of protein. Me at 130 needs 78 g of protein per day. I'm sure I don't come close. Maybe that's why I'm tired.

Hope everyone has a good night. Happy shopping M.
