Running out the door for a massage, be back later...M x

jsj, you're scheduled now! We all know that feeling, gulp....it's really happening now! We will all be with you. Enjoy this week, do things you enjoy and do some preparation for when you get home.
I am so pleased you didn't have any problem with your Surgeon about the recon.
Wrenn is right about the pillow for the ride home, and I wish I had known about throat lozenges for after the surgery. Everyone will throw in their ideas between now and then.
Big hugs, M x

Good morning! Hollyboo, thanks for your note and the videos! Your son has talent and is full of life, I'm glad he seems happier as an adult than when he was growing up. Tough year for him with your DH's dx and yours, but he's lucky to have such a strong and loving mother! Your daughter is doing great, what a positive influence she has on those kids' lives.
jsj! You have a date, congrats! A week or so away, it's coming fast, better than too long of a wait. We will definitely be in your pocket, we have all been through it and the surgery has been smooth for most of us, so you will do great.
Vintage, how are you recovering?
Wren, how I too love hearing about Goldie! What a sweet cat, she seems so happy to be well cared for. I'm glad your taking this painting course, I would love to see one of your creations if you want to upload a picture one day!
gB, interesting about the minerals, I did not know you were dabbling in those. I love this forum, meeting people who have such rich lives and diverse experiences!
ndgirl, sorry about the snow... Will we have just 3 months of spring/summer this year? Will any leaves appear, flowers bloom? Still tough to imagine at this point! High of 3 C tomorrow for us, ridiculous!
PRB, how was work? I hope you rested well when you got home! Did your coworkers know what you had gone through?
Hi M, it's fun that Bec has been exposed to the music and broadcasting business! How was the massage? Do you have any weird tinglings from the dog ear removal, or it's all good? Yeah, steroids SEs are no good for our self-esteem..
Sgc, yes only 2 more chemos left, yippee! I guess I should get a picture taken in that chair so that I remember this important event in my life (and like you say, maybe it will ensure we don't have to go through this again!), even if it wasn't a fun event. It's part of life! And I should take a picture of my baldness, why not. I'm not the type to make a big celebration for those things, but I will definitely get something for my good nurse.
Chemo did go fine yesterday. They injected the new drug (Taxotere) slowly to ensure I did not have any allergic reaction, then were able to do it at the normal rate since all was good. I was feeling queasy like at the last treatment, from being stressed/anticipating the treatment, and from the Dexamethason I need to take for a few days to reduce the chances of having a reaction, and the antibiotics I've started taking for my sinusitis. MO strongly recommended I take these since he does not want me sick while doing this chemo. Anyway, the queasiness gradually went away after I got home, had a small bite, and rested. Then I was good to do some work! I don't have the aches & pains yet, they might start tomorrow and might just be mild, we shall see.
We found a house we like, just a street over. We're seeing it tonight. Although our neighbour situation has quieted down, it's still there but we're being very picky regarding which house we would move to. We don't want to have to make too many sacrifices since we don't have to move. But this detached one is in our price range (if the bidding war doesn't go crazy), shows well, has good neighbours around - the only downside (without having seen it yet other than the pictures!) is that it has 2 bedrooms instead of our current 3. But we only need 2 and a finished basement, so it would work for our family. Anyway, we'll see if it truly is interesting. It's exciting and stressful! Thinking already of all the things to do if we put our house for sale! One thing at a time, the market is crazy here, couples get discouraged from all the bidding wars they lose, so nothing's done yet.
Have a great day!

Hi~ thanks doing well. Just the usual weird skin sensations, numbess, irritation. Surgeon was happy with my faint pink scars when I saw him Wed.
We got hit from behind yesterday while at a traffic light, luckily between having a big truck & how I was sitting & my seat belt kind of to the side I was ok. Hate to think of that seat belt pulling tight across my chest on impact!

Good Morning,
Finally found some liquid Benadryl! The person who "invented" the Benadryl and Malox mouth rinse is a frigging genius! This is the first time in days I don't feel like I have a case of strep in my mouth and throat! Oh what a relief it is! Just wanted to share my revelation and will post more later! Always, S

glad you found some relief SGC.
OTC. House hunting gives you something new to think about. Maybe helps you see yours in a new light.
Glad you're ok vintage. Don't need any more hospital or recovery time.
M. How was the opp shop? Do you cook a big Easter dinner?
Poor ND. We have grass! I prefer not to now before Easter so there's lots of hiding places. It's coming in with a vengeance.
JSJ. I know the hibernation feeling all too well. Glad you have a date. I cleaned out the filing cabinet and DH cleaned the garage the weekend before. Rearranged the living room so I could watch tv propped up in family room and made a big grocery run. We're here if you need us, day or night.
Wren. Did you find the chews? Health food store if you don't like tums?
PRB. How was work? Bet you're exhausted. Take care of yourself this weekend.
Holly. Thanks for the videos. Love to see someone enjoying life. Has he thought about Britians Got Talent? I'll need to get a tv so I can watch the American version this summer.
Bobo. Go Big Blue! Final four basketball game tomorrow night.
Spent most of the day in bed with a book. Hoping DH will take pity on me and bring home a pint. He's at the shop. Kids sent to bed early because they wouldn't listen after swim class.
I don't know what else to do about the fatigue. So I guess it's time to change my diet. I know I need more fruit and veg. Seem to be stuck in a rut.
0 -
Zills, Are you getting enough protein and iron? Of course I remember being tired most of the time when my kids were the age of yours. I forgot to look for the chews. I'm having an extraordinarily busy 2 weeks. Something happening every day. I'm not used to that now that I'm retired.
A friend of mine posted on facebook that she came home and found the house clean and things moved around. It sort of felt creepy. Later in the day, she discovered another tenant had hired a cleaning service and they cleaned the wrong apt. She doesn't know yet how they got in. Everyone's response was 'score!'
Otceb, When I first moved to Seattle I was asked to update the address list where I worked. I was amazed at how many people move within the same zip code. I've moved a lot, but only a couple of times to places close to where I was living before.

**Cue Ariom lecturing Z on the benefits of Green Vibrance** I sent her some in the mail, it costs 25 whole dollars! But she will not take it!
Z, hoping he will bring a pint? Laughing, because I know it's a pint of ice cream. What is the TV update? Will you watch the game tomorrow? Is the bet on? Excited. What place will I pick? Do I still get NOLA and get to pick an additional place?
Have one second to finish. Update: got med records and researched my (two) hospital-contracted bacteria. One of them is super-deadly: something like 40 - 68 percent mortality rate if you get pneumonia as a result. And you'll remember I contracted a life-threatening flu directly after. They sent me home so I wouldn't get others sick. Apparently the bacteria is super-resistant to drugs. Terrorists are known to use it in bioweapons.
No wonder I didn't feel well in the hospital! Can't believe I went to work the week after the flu. I am sort of a crazy bad-ass. And no wonder I still don't feel that great right now. And no wonder they had to gouge out my chest and I now look like Frankenstein.
What shall I do with this information. Get an additional tattoo from Vin to commemorate the situation? JS -- I am thinking of you. So glad your date is close. It's terrible when it's far. We are all with you. And you are welcome on 'Rockin' flatness like a badas$.' You should see the badas$ women on that thread! Very often I write there what I wore to work that day
Birdie, when will you be a famous painter? Are you going to do an arts fair and sell your wares? If so, let me be the first in line, because I want a Birdie original. Fingers crossed for Goldie, really. Laughed at your comment about kittens.
I miss Idesim!

Birdie, we are posting at nearly the same time! I reply to myself. Just want to clarify: Z, we do not have a bet tomorrow. Only after both of our teams win, right? When they play each other. That's when we have a bet.
What is this 'chew'? I obviously need that as well. My children are eight and they still wet the bed fairly often. And they are giant. And wm does not clean himself. When will it be clean?

Zills, oh the fatigue must be making the rounds, the last few days have been terrible! today I finally felt like a human being, I keep blaming it on the weather, we are getting some warmer weather now and the next week looks like we may hit 60! Could it be the tamoxifen? Sometimes I think my arimidex does that to me and you have been through so darn much, little wonder your body is tired. Thinking of you and sending hugs.
Wren, just happened to see something on tv where the "health" guy was saying to wash egg shells before using the eggs and then bake the shells at 350 for 8 minutes, then crush them and take 1 tsp. in your smoothie or whatever and that supplies the calcium our body needs!! wow, never heard that before. He said they are calcium caltrate. I do save egg shells to put around my pepper and tomato plants.
Vintage, wow, scary, glad you were not hurt in the accident.
Sgc, happy you found some relief.. yippee!
OTc, I bet you are excited about a new house, sounds fun except for the packing/unpacking but the anticipation is fun! Good luck with the big decision.
Js, the date is set and we are all here for you girl!!
Happy weekend to everyone!

Sorry I haven't posted, just had a quick read, but have to put the computer away. I have to get ready for dinner guests tonight. It is much warmer than expected but likely to rain this evening, so I am knackered from running around sweeping patios and setting table. Had to dash into town, first day of the school Easter Holidays, so tourists everywhere. I couldn't even get a park! Ate McDonalds for lunch on the run, so I have heartburn now!
Catch you all tomorrow...M x
0 -
M how was the dinner party? Sorry about the heartburn.
I ate about 50 grams of protein yesterday. One fruit and one veg. Rest carbs and chocolate and tea. No ice cream:( I keep forgetting about the green vibrance. I even forgot my am meds yesterday.
Boy was disrespectful after swim lessons so I sent him to his room after dinner. He heard his daddy was at the shop. He closed my door, pulled on some clothes and boots. Rode his bike down to the shop, about 1/2 mile away. He was so excited to see daddy. DH said he couldn't punish him but he got a talking to. Boys! He didn't wear a jacket so came home all red and cold. Let him cuddle with me.
Yes bet still on. Probably be asleep when game is on. Yes NOLA and somewhere else. Go Cats!
Going to chug some green nasty vibrance and see what my hooligans are up to. Have a good Saturday.
0 -
Z. Okay. You're supposed to have 100 grams of protein. Because of my situation, believe it or not, they told me at the hospital that I'm supposed to have 300 grams for three months! ???
Did you take green V this morning? And your meds? I am your reminder. And your chocolate? I treasure the picture of my punk baby (via phone).
If W boy had snuck out of the house -- is that what your boy did? -- boy. I do not know what I would have done! I would have been beside myself! But you are in the country. Perhaps it's not as worrisome..
A, am waiting to hear the dinner menu. I really want to know. ND -- I will NOT eat leftover egg shells!!! I do not care what you say!!!
0 -
HeHe Bobo, I am not eating them either but had to post it when Wren was looking for calcium in not such big capsules, there is always a different train of thoughts for everything. My saved egg shells go into the tomato plants and it helps prevent disease on the plants.
Zills, boy must have been so happy to see Dad, better watch him when he is a teenager, he may have sneaking out mastered by then!! Glad he snuggled with you later, I miss those days!
0 -
I picture my throat and stomach punctured with those little pieces of egg shell. We use ours in the garden also.
I want to hear the menu also, Ariom.
I'm off to a movie this morning. They're launching Rio II and my husband's group is playing samba music to launch it. They did it for Rio also and it was a screening for the disabled as well. I'm hoping it's as good as Rio was. It's a cartoon feel good if you haven't seen it.
0 -
Sounds fun Wren, you hubby must be very talented! Enjoy, loved the first Rio, so hopefully the 2nd will be good too.
Waiting to hear from Ariom too, her life is so glamorous isn't it? Well at least compared to mine, I just love her stories, past and present! Keep them coming M.

I would like to add that I would also like to know Ariom's outfit for the dinner.

Good Morning all, so sorry I have been absent, but it was a whirlwind of a day yesterday.
The story behind this dinner is a silly one. The lady who organized the dinner has a B&B just near us and Colin has been helping her with her website for the business. As a thank you she wanted us to come to dinner with some very interesting friends of hers. The problem was that her house is not wheelchair friendly, stairs to get in and sunken dining room, so she decided to set up the dinner in her front garden. Our weather has taken a very wet turn, so I asked Colin to offer our house for the dinner. Although I wasn't really prepared for a dinner party, we went with it anyway. The lady showed up with a couple of part cooked curries for me to finish, so I really only had to do the entree and the cheese platter. We had lime coconut ice cream for dessert. Bobo, I had little time to think about what to wear, so the old fave, slim black 7/8th pants with a black top and ballet pumps had to do. I did add a little bit more Rose Gold jewellery!
The company was fantastic. I had met one of the women before, an American from New York, at the yacht club, but the others were new to me and so interesting, great lives and interesting professions. Fortunately, they are all "dog lovers" and Dex had a ball being played with and petted. He was exhausted when they all left.
We have organized to meet again soon, for coffee, at a local cafe, where they meet regularly and for a night of roasting Chestnuts here, because we are the only ones who have a fire pit.
I prefer to have people come here, if possible, we have the space and I worry when we go to other houses, about the access for Colin. It can be a nightmare if there are steps or very narrow doors to get through. I freak out at the thought of damaging something.
I got cleared away and dishes done fairly early because this is a place of early bedders. That isn't a trait we have taken on yet, but most of the people we have met here are in bed by 9pm, if we get to bed before midnight it is unusual, so they were gone by 10pm, but had arrived a 6pm. Not something I am used to, but I quite enjoyed the difference. In the city, dinner parties don't start till 8pm at the earliest.
nd,LOL not glamorous at all, really casual and relaxed here. Lots of like minded people who are very friendly and interesting. It isn't the least bit pretentious, which is what I absolutely love about the place. Most of us have come from somewhere else, so there isn't any of that nonsense about you not being a "Local" because your family wasn't here forever. I hate all that stuff!
Bobo, I hope that was enough of a report! Posting....M x

Wrenn, I would love to see your Husband play, I love Samba music!
I didn't know there was a Rio 2,I will watch for it.
I don't like the sound of the roasted, pummeled eggshells either. LOL I hate to get a piece of eggshell in my sandwich!
Zills and Bobo, I know I am going to sound like your Mother, but what is the big deal about Green Vibrance? We have a saying here, which came from a very successful ad campaign "Drink it Freddy, drink it!" so any time anyone won't try something new or something is a bit nasty to take, we say that. I am saying it to both of you now. Just make it a "shot" that you have mid morning, or mid afternoon, after food is best and there is a ton of nutrition in it. I know you're busy, but it helps with exhaustion and it has lots of pro-biotics, which boosts your immune sytem and it is all natural, the only down side is it doesn't taste fabulous, but it is doable. Pleeeeeese!
As a joke, My Dad used to to stand on my foot like a pedal bin to make me open up, to take my medicine, just imagine me there, giving you, your Green Vibrance. If it doesn't make you feel heaps better in a week, you can stop. There you go, a challenge! M x

Oh Zills, I can imagine how you felt when you found the boy had taken off to see his Daddy. Fortunately, the outcome was fine, and you got to snuggle with him after it happened, but a scary experience nonetheless!
Hug the hooligans for me too! M x

Well, it is official, Winter is coming to me. I have to change the clocks today. I hate to lose daylight saving. I love it to be light till after 9pm.
We had a power outage on Friday and it has upset the new watering system. It went off during the rainstorm the other night and then went off just as the guests were arriving last night, so they had to dodge all our new sprays and pop ups to get to the house. I can't work out the controller for it, so I have to get the installer back to re-program it.
I know I have missed a lot of you, but I will try to catch up later. Dex is anticipating the big walk, so I better run....Take it easy everyone..have a great weekend..M x

Morning all, still lazing in bed this morning, my DH has cycling races on a sun morning, so I laze with a cuppa and the iPad in bed. My 10 ys DD usually comes in and wants something, but she is watching a movie, so peace and quiet for the moment. Start of over 2 weeks holiday for the kids.
Vintage, glad you are ok, that could have been problematic!
Zills, glad your boy is safe, scary when they take off. Why is he sometimes called wboy?
Wrenn, glad you are enjoying the painting, and hope you enjoyed Rio 2
Bobo, I hope you are feeling well, and enjoyed your mini break from parental duties! I need to read back to find out what this yucky grean drink is about!
Sgc, fantastic you have found some relief, will have to store that info for future use.
Jsj, glad you have a date, things can get a happening now.
Otceb, house hunting! I loooove looking through other peoples homes, I am just a sticky beak! Glad you are nearly finished your chemo.
Hollyboo thank you for the link, you son is very talented, you must be very proud of him.
gB, do you sell the minerals and crystals to shops, or to individuals, or both?
I got my first foob not long ago, and they gave me the Amoena catalogue as well, so I flicked through it only to find our Ariom in a double page spread! ( sorry, she is fully clothed, that sounded like a Playboy magazine or someting) i exclaimed " there's Moira!" to my dog, who just ignored me, but I was very excited, great article and great photo M, Dex looked very smart also.
We are off to the yacht club later, as my DS's friend (12) who lives a few doors down, has made it into the worlds, sailing for cadets. To raise money, (it is being held in England) they auction off some of the boats at the yacht club, just for the day. They need an adult yacht club member to skipper, and they race today to raise more funds. Our friends have asked my DH as he is a good sailor, and came 3rd in the worlds himself. But there is a bit of pressure for him to win, and collect the prize money, which I think may be a couple of thousand dollars, which is then hoped that the winner puts the money back in to support the cadets. There are other good sailors competing too, in the past the crews used to pelt each other with flour bombs, but apparently since there is money involved this year it is a bit more serious.
Hello to everyone I have missed
Dawn. Xx

Good luck to your DH, dawny! That's quite te race and for a good cause!
Well, well, surprise, surprise, our M in a 2-page spread in a magazine! Congrats M! I'm glad you're getting a bit of recognition for the work you do for Amoena. Your dinner sounds like it was fabulous, don't you love interesting and unpretentious company! I'm glad you're meeting so many nice people in your newish community. And you seem to embrace your hostess role, I can imagine the stress and constraints when you're invited somewhere and have to think of accessibility for Colin.
Hi Zills, sorry about the fatigue. Have you been tested for anemia? Are you still waking up in the middle of the night? Oh, how scary it must have been that your DS ran away! I would have have been so panicked and so mad! Glad everything turned out ok.
sgc, glad the benadryl helps!
bobo, always nice to see you posting. Wow, what a scare about the bacteria you had. I'm not a fighter, unfortunately, so wouldn't have wise recommendations for you about next steps and getting some kind of payback/admission of wrong-doing. Good luck with whatever you decide to do, or if you just want to put the whole thing behind you, I would understand too.
ndgirl, glad you are feeling better!
wren, I don't think I knew your DH is a musician! And samba, I really envy you!! How did the show go, how was the movie?
Well, house hunting is off. We saw the house, it looks good but has less square footage than ours and needs work. With the monthly payments that would have been much higher than ours (since it's detached), it would not have left us much wiggle room. We're just not desperate to move to sacrifice much. We do love our place, other than the neighbours (but it's been better lately), and we are not in a frame of mind for all the hassle of moving. Maybe in 3-5 years, when our finances are better and we can afford a detached that meets our many criterias, we'll reconsider. DH and I are both glad to have come to this conclusion, it's one less stress that we really didn't need right now. We're replacing our hardwood floors (they were the originals and past their life expectancy!), and even doing the stairs (currently covered with old carpet that never looks clean), and we're excited about this project. Although we're not doing the actual work ourselves, it will be work for us, clearing things and then dusting everywhere. They're replacing our old subfloors too, a process that will generate tons of dust!
I was stressed about scheduling this work around my next chemo treatments, but I have not felt one SE from this Taxotere yet! I've just had a bit of an upset tummy I think due to my antibiotics, but no aches & pains yet. And it feels so good not to be nauseous!

Hi again, can't leave for a minute and you all turn up and there is more to read!
otceb, The story that Dawny is talking about was way back, early last year. I had written to Amoena to give feedback after I had my fitting and had bought a lot of their products. After that we had one of their representatives here for out Pink Ladies Meeting. Their manager in Australia, read my letter and asked me if I would write my story for their magazine called Amoena Life. I wasn't sure, at the time if I could, or if I even wanted to write about my experience but with some encouragement I sat down one evening and wrote it in a couple of hours. It was actually after that, that I was approached to trial the new Prosthesis. I did mention it here after it was printed.
So sorry that the house didn't work out, but when the time is right the right place will present itself! The renovations you're doing will make the place feel like new. . I am so glad you aren't having a hard time with the chemo! M x
0 -
Hi dawny, Thank you! I though Dex looked good in the photo too!
Good luck for the fundraising at the yacht club, I hope your husband wins!
I was caught unaware that the kids broke up for the holidays, suddenly the town was busy, there were more boats on the water, and there were kids around!
I have always loved looking at houses too. I used to go to the Auctions on Saturday to stay up with the house prices. It was like sport a for me! LOL
0 -
Morning! We are off to an auction. Yesterday my sister & I headed out to an indoor antiques flea. I got a few things, & we had a nice day out & about. I wore my stretchy bralet & fiberfill foobs & wasn't too uncomfortable. Still have some feeling of skin irritation in front of arm pits & where my port had to be repositioned during surgery. I am happy to get home & whip the bra off though!
I found a new Amoeba bra (my size) at GoodWill a couple weeks ago. $5.99. I bought it though I doubt I will wear it except maybe in an outfit that is a bit dressier. I am not used to a *real* bra since I was always so flat chested I didn't need the full band & support & stretch straps.
Hope you have a good Sunday (or whatever day/night it is!) I hope to come home with a truck load of treasures.
0 -
Hi Vintage, Sounds like you've had a fun day at the market. I hope you get something fabulous at the auction too.
I love it when you find something great at GoodWill. I have found a couple of new Mx bras at our Opp shop too.
It is Sunday night here and it was dark just after 6pm, not my favorite time of year.
Catch you all tomorrow!

Ooooooh! A 'spanking' by our Ariom! It has been such a long time. Confession: I took my GV to work, thinking I would take it there, then left it in the fridge until it was cleaned out.
More later. I am going to yoga for the first time since... the first sx. I loved my report of the dinner. Especially that it was not late enough for you! ND, STOP trying to make everyone eat powdered eggshells! You just stop it! XXX
0 -
Bobo, maybe you could put those eggshells in your vitamix and they would just be ground up good!!Good luck with yoga, I do some to some dvd's but am not as dedicated as I should be. I wont try eggshells but maybe I should try the green stuff?
Ariom, I would love to see the picture in the amoena magazine, anyway it could be put on here?? your party sounds fun, I love to entertain but my house is small for too many, but in the summer, we have a huge lawn and bonfire pit and have lots of friends in to enjoy many fun times. Sometimes just dh and I sit out there it is so peaceful and quiet. Wish everyone here could join me.

thank you all for maintaining such a light hearted, helpful and friendly thread.
My single mastectomy is Wednesdau, first thing. I get a dye injection Tuesday afternoon to enable the SNB, then my husband and I are going out to dinner and staying in a hotel before 6:00am call on Wednesday.
