Morning all! Lovely Autumn morning here!

Bobo, I am so glad you aren't missing the kids! You really need this time to just chill out a bit with DLLP and let your body have some ME time, even if it is after a long exhausting day.

    Enjoy the Chinese food!

Hi Zills, sorry you've got more snot to deal with! It will be better when all those teeth are in, then you have such a small window of time to enjoy them, before they start to fall out again!

Sorry Firebob is under the weather.

Do you have any plans for the trip yet? are all the relatives in one area, or do you have to travel around?

Catch you later, Doctor's appointment this morning to get Prescription for bone meds. I have decided to go for the once a week tablet. Just can't see me having an injection that will last for 6 months. I had too much of a scare with an Annual infusion, once before. If this one causes problems it will only be for a week and I can try another.

I hope everyone is ok, be back later! M x

GB, if it is not a county road would it be a township road? That is the way things are around here if out of city limits.

Good luck with the bone meds Ariom.

Good to see posts from our Bobo again, hope you catch up on a little rest anyway.

Hello all! Tired, been staying up too late, so I'm sorry if I don't write much but I've been thinking about everyone!

    sgc, how are you?

Hi gB, sorry you have issues with the county, I really hope that the rest of the spring melt & rain doesn't wash out more of your land.  Good luck dealing with all this. Fun that your ebay shop is busy, I had not heard you talk about it for a long time!

Fia, I'm worried about you and your lymphoma, I don't know much about this cancer. Take care, and keep your b!tchy and fun attitude!

Wren, I'm so glad you're not affected by the mud slides. What a disaster, the community must be in shock... Good for you for being prepared for emergencies. I really should have at least a few supplies/food/water. All I have are flashlights/candles since power outages are the only events that happen around here. But you never know.

Hi M, I had not realized that you were working for United when 9/11 happened, that must have been so stressful.

jsj, congratulations for having raised such a good son! It must be tough to see them go... a new life phase for you and him is beginning, enjoy his company for the next few months!

Zills, I completely understand you about wanting to go back to work. But I'm glad you're in tune enough with your body to know that it's not ready. You say you take care of children, are you a teacher or daycare worker? When would you need to decide if you wanted to go back at the end of the year? And the trip, it's sounding better and better! Try not to be nervous about it, just excited, it will be fabulous!

Hello RamblingRose and SoCalLisa, nice to meet you!

    Vintage, are you recovering well?

bobo, enjoy your break from the kids!! So well deserved!!

Hi ndgirl! We had flurries today...yeah, March 27... unreal!

Nothing special on my side. I did wake up with a painful bump on my thumb!! I thought maybe M sent me her bump by airmail?! :) I have no clue what it is, it's red, swollen and painful, I don't think it's LE since my other fingers would be swollen too, no? Anyway, it has not improved during the day. We'll see how it evolves. I guess I should monitor my temperature since infections and chemo are a recipe for disaster. And my left side (where I have not had LE) has been bothering me: I am so numb under my arm, from the elbow to the trunk, I hate the feeling. It's been like that for 2 months, and the PT does not see anything "physical" about it (no cording, the range of motion is ok). I just hope my nerves eventually regenerate? F* BC!

It's Breast Fest in Toronto starting this weekend. I'm going to a Live Laugh Luncheon on Saturday, then a talk on reconstruction next week. There's also an exhibit of the SCAR project, I will check it out.  As much as I want a break from BC, it should be interesting.

    Take care!

I highly recommend the wind up flashlights for emergencies. You turn the handle for a couple of minutes for hours of light. They have led lights and never ever need batteries. Mine were about $10. I have one for my bedroom and one for my car. I got them after years and years of dead batteries and having only the wrong size on hand.

Otceb, The Breast Fest sounds interesting. I think you'll have fun at the luncheon.

It's 50 years since the big earthquake in Alaska and the local news had a link to photos. My in-laws were living in Anchorage when it happened. Mom said they ate like kings out of the freezer. First the most expensive item, then the next and so on.

Zills, I think going to Ireland for a month will be splendid! And children are an ice breaker. People smile at them. We took DD to Mexico when she was a toddler and had really nice treatment from everyone.

Hello otceb! LOL No, I didn't send you my bump, but mine is gone, so it may be doing the rounds! I hope not!

Breast Fest? I have never heard of that, but it sounds interesting. I have looked at the pictures online from the Scar Project. It is a very powerful message.

I still have complete numbness under my arm from the SNB, did you lose nodes from that arm? I had the numbness and tingling, initially all the way to my elbow on the underside of my arm but that has eased somewhat. I'm still numb down on to my ribs below my incision, but it is starting to kind of awaken I think, sort of like when the Dentist's injection starts to wear off and becomes tingly. I totally agree, F it all! I know this probably won't help, but for me, I just really don't notice it as much now, but when it is brought to my attention I can describe it. My Surgeon just says it is all the nerves regenerating and it takes time, easy for him!

Hi gB, I knew you'd be there soon! So pleased to see your Ebay shop is doing well. I must get myself into that mindset and off load all that Marika stuff I bought that didn't fit. I hope you can workout something about your land. That picture really shows the extent of it.

nd, girl, I have the meds sitting right beside me, and have decided to start on Monday. It has to be the same day and time every week, so I figure Monday will be a good time for it, not a weekend, in case I have a reaction. The box comes with the supply of Vit D and Calcium for the following 6 days as well. So Monday is the day. No bending over or lying down after taking the tablet, it can cause bad stomach issues, just what I need! LOL

    Take it easy...M x

Beautiful SoCal, I visited your beautiful city this winter for 2 weeks, I loved the bird of paradise flower everywhere! I am so ready for spring/summer, thanks for the pictures. I am hoping to make a return visit with hubby, had a great time touring and enjoying ocean tranquility! your weather is wonderful.

Wren, i also have the wind up flashlights, or torches for Ariom!!Happycome in very handy at times.

I have been busy helping my friend find health insurance as she lost her job last week, looking into the new affordable care act, or obama care as it is called. It seems like a good option at the time, she is frazzled of course and needs help. This just should not be in our country, our Canadian and European and Aussie friends dont have to think about this, losing everything if they have a tradgady health issue... grrrr makes me angry.  Enough rant off to work.

Geez, I hear you on that ACA. A friend wants to retire in June, will be 62.  Will have SS and state pension. Single. Cannot afford $600 month to continue what she has. I can't find out if she even CAN sign up then! Sooooo screwy

Ariom, thinking of you and your FFFFF bone meds.  Will you keep us posted?  I hope you are not too worried.

ND, wish I could be in your snowy garden right now!  Thought of you when we went to the farmer's market on Wednesday.

Last night without the kids!  Still do not really miss them.  It's just a mess in the evenings.  I don't even get a chance to sit down!  And then our princess stays up at night, fighting for DLLP's attention.  Love them, of course, but they will be back soon enough!  And I am still so tired.

And I am talking to them about ten times a day by phone!

Good Morning! I will let you know how the bone meds go on Monday. I decided to make it Monday, every week. Not F looking forward to taking them, but such is life, I don't want any more fractures either!

I hope you are able to take advantage of the quiet evenings without the kids. Are you able to get at least, some early nights? I hope you and DLLP are taking it easy while you're able.

ndgirl, you always surprise me with similar likes! I have 2 Bird of paradise in my front garden and a couple of the giant ones in my back garden. The giant are a lot like banana palms and tall, but the flower is not nice, the same shape as the dainty one but huge and black with pale mint green. Not attractive at all, but I love the foliage when it isn't flowering.

The more I hear about your health insurance, the less I complain about ours. We have a free system, but you can also buy Private which gives you your own choice of Doctors and Hospitals. I have Private, but here it is about $250.00 per month  which gives you part refunds for alternative treatments, PT, Dental, Massage etc, as well.

SoCalLisa, those pics are beautiful, what a lovely garden.

    Hugs to everyone....M x

Yes, Ariom, we do seem to have similar likes dont we?? I feel honored! I am posting to tell you all that my two oldest gds cut their hair for Locks of Love, they had to have at least 8 inches cut off, so proud of them and they know why they are doing it! DIL had some great pics on FB!

    Happy Weekend to all.

Oh ndgirl, what a wonderful gesture from your girls! You must be so proud of them. That is something they will always remember, and a truly important introduction into caring about others.

I will put up a picture for you when the Bird of Paradise are blooming! M x

ndgirl, probably 20 years ago, I had really long hair and had it cut off for Locks of Love, it was over 10".   There were some grays in there but they told me that they were picked out because there was a need for gray hair wigs too!  I am so grateful that I was able to do this, always in the back of my mind was the thought that I may someday need one of these wigs. Fortunately I didn't despite the bc dx, but it felt good to be able to do something for someone in need.  What I am sad about is that I had been a blood donor every cycle (56 days) since 1996, but since my dx of bc, I have to have a year clear of bc before I can donate again.

GB, well you just answered a ? that I had for drs. about donating blood. Was wondering if I still could but couldnt imagine that I would be able to, I dont think I would want blood from someone with cancer, just in case a loose cell is floating around, but maybe I just dont understand the whole process. I will ask at Mayo too, also about being a donor? was wondering about that as well. The little girls were pretty proud and were on  tv news last night!! so proud.

My sister donated her hair this winter too! :)

My friend's hair wasn't long enough so she shaved her head after I lost my hair. I kept telling her NO!!! don't do it, I know you love & support me but being bald in a Maine winter is chilly! But she did it!

Our blood bank said I could donate after a year. I think I'm going to stop permanently because I don't want to ruin the vein in my good arm. Not to mention that I'm 73. Who wants old blood?

I donate through Red Cross and when I called to ask, they said I had to be cancer free for a year before I could begin to donate again.  I had also asked once some time back if there was an age they stopped accepting donations. I was told, as long as you are healthy, you can donate as long as you wish.

My late DH had Leukemia along with severe complications from Diabetes.  He had many many transfusions. The last 6 months of his life he had 26 units transfused.  We were so grateful for the generosity of others that I began donating to pay it forward as it were.

How cool for them to donate hair. It's wonderful that they can see past initial vanity and put others ahead. You should be proud!

Baby sick. Lots of congestion and not much appetite. Boy desparate to go somewhere, anywhere so he can watch tv. He's back talking, yelling, not listening. Not sure what to do.  At my wits end and it's only Sat. Spring break next week.

Tried to swim a couple of strokes last night while waiting for lessons. Stung in armpit. Entire arm swollen today. Argh!

Can't wait to hear about breast fest.

If your friend needs foobs or sleeves, have her specifically ask about them. I assumed they would be covered but mine doesn't. Fight with them over tamox too but it's better than nothing.

PT doesn't want me to shave. Said waxing ok. Doesn't that leave holes where each hair pulled out? Other options? My friend says braids and beads!

Cold, rainy, nasty day. Miss TV. Good note. Dishwasher decided to work last night. True test will be tonight with dishes in it.

Zills, so sorry you are having such a tough time right now.  Hope the baby gets better soon and that the boy settles down.  Can you play any shows on the computer for him?  Crossing fingers for the dishwasher to work!!

I still can't believe your ins doesn't cover foobs and the sleeve!!  Did you go up the food chain there, rattle as many cages as possible?  That is just not right.  Do they cover limbs? If they do, to not cover foobs seems pretty sexist!  And the sleeve is medically needed. Can your dr intervene?

When DH had his leg amputated, at first the drs weren't going to rx a prosthetic leg for him due to his AML Leukemia dx.  They gave him 3-4 months to live at that time.  I fought tooth and nail to get him his leg and he got a good 13 more months of being able to get around and live life upright before he passed.  I was arguing the "expiration date" notion long before the commercials!

I didn't have reconstruction and I'm happy with my choice. I'm not a patient person and all the medical stuff involved in reconstruction was not my cup of tea. Since I had a double mast, I'm equally flat on both sides which also helps. I tried some foobs in the months after my surgery, but my skin was still too sensitive. I had a partial mast and radiation on the left side from my first bc diagnosis so now, after my double mast that is the side that bothers me the most. Other than that, I am doing well and feel very grateful.

Hi wirdgirl, I'm with you, I wanted to be done with the bc $hit as fast as possible, not go through multiple additional surgeries.  I was not attached to my breasts and didn't feel any need to replace them.  I think for us BMX gals, going flat is a lot easier than our uni friends.  I was so uncomfortable in the mastectomy bras and prosthetics that I won't wear them.

I am glad you are happy with your choice.  I see from your sig that you have post mastectomy pain, glad that the Neurontin is working for you. I can't take it, had a really bad reaction to it when a Psychiatrist tried to give it to me for depression after my DH passed.
