Ndgirl, great news on the GD, I hope she has a fast recovery!

Zills, just push the crumbs further under the coach, nobody has to know.  I truly hope the remotes have been found... I have to admit, I will search all over the house for a remote before I will manually turn on the device.  I can't believe school already, I can't get used to them going back in August.. I think we should get another long weekend then.

Moira!  You may just be worse than me... fudge, tim tams AND lemon cake lol!  Good on you getting a window cleaner, I may just have to do that myself.. I hate doing windows and Joe keeps saying they are fine, when they are not.

omg Bobogirl, what did WB do to Miss Justine?  I bet his apology note was adorable as was his essay.. it sounds like it's hard to stay mad at him because he is just too adorable, stinkin' adorable lol.

Wren, good idea on the rice, we need to fatten this girl up.. watermelon diet indeed.  I love finger potatos, your dinner sounded so wonderful.

Zills, sorry for all the crumbs in your purse, but since Bobogirl was playing with her sandwich and not eating it, I had to wrestle it from her and it created quite the mess.

    Beats beer tho :)

    Good morning all!

ndgirl, I am so happy to hear your grandaughter is through the surgery. I think the surgeon meant they were deeper than expected. Isn't that the thing with icebergs? Whatever, I wish her a speedy recovery. She will feel so much better without them. I had mine out at 19, and never looked back. No more of those dreadful throat infections.

Bobo, I was hoping to hear that things were slowing down a bit, but , I guess not yet! I hope things start to fall in place and you can start having less stress in your day.

I had a bit of a restless night, kept waking and wondering how gB was doing. Hopefully she's all tucked up in bed, feeling greatly relieved, and  chatting to her daughter.

Hi Zills, now I understand why you are always up so early! Glad the scan went well, and the children are better. It's a huge step, this going to school! I hope he loves it. Glad to hear there aren't any more poopy diapers for you, and you're well!

Wren, I am about to clear out my raised bed and pots to replant a whole new lot of salad for the Summer. Everyone will be giving me shtick for my lettuce. I like to plant about 8 or9 different types, and lots of herbs, and a couple of types of tomatoes.  I have spring onions at the moment, but not much else.

Hey gramwe, how's everything going with you, and the OG? How's the hand? I have to tell you. I have been searching for a giant clam shell, the last decor item for the house. It is almost impossible to find a real one, and if you do it's sooooo expensive. Anyway, I found a decor shop in SC that has a faux one that might just do the job. So I am investigating having it sent here. It is made by Regina Andrews, and is at a store called Candelabra, do you know it? The lady I have been dealing with by email seems really nice and is very helpful. How funny, a coastal deecor item for a house in a little town in Australia, coming all the way from South Carolina!

    Take care everyone...chat later...M x

I am going into town today to do some shopping. I'll check in when I get back to see if we have any news on gB.

    Miss Justine report.

Miss Justine is a very earnest transgendered person who teaches at WB's art camp.  She wears an absolutely full face of make-up, plus a drawn-on flower or star, but she does not wear shoes.  She wears ankle bracelets made of bells.  WB and I saw her at the farmer's market: no shoes.   No shoes indoors or out, even at the height of summer.

WB reduced Miss Justine to tears by doing the following things:

getting up, walking to M Justine, touching everything of hers on her workspace as she tried to teach

    talking excessively

asking M Justine questions unrelated to the events of the moment

Miss Justine cried all her eye makeup off as she told me.  I know how she feels.

ldesim, I was wondering if you may be posting at the same time!

Oh goodness, that pig out was a big one, but so necessary to watch those two shows. Monday is my TV day. I watch those in the afternoon and then I love Selling New York at night and then it is followed by Jeff the renovator with the assistant with the squeaky voice, just can't remember the name of that show. Love it!

I can't tell you how wonderful the man is who does my windows. He has just had his own brush with Ca. In his mouth, but the surgeon did the most amazing job of putting it all back together. He just looks like he may have had a small accident. The scars are so fine, I was so impressed.

I have the windows done to save my shoulders, I can recommmend it! If you can find someone like Simon!

I want to see the apology note to Miss Justine too. I think our boy is a master of apologies! I want to know exactly what he did to annoy Miss Justine so much that she cried.

I hope you aren't too busy at work now. Take care..chat later! M x

Is talking excessively a boy thing? I can relate.

Miss Poopy Pants only pooped twice today! Ate like a little piggy this afternoon. Making up for lost time. The boy wasn't hungry. She had a little fever. Teething? Her gums look sore. It's always something.

Tomorrow is his first day back to school. He's excited. It's just half a day so going to check out a new place for the baby. It's closer to home. Then we'll do lunch. Maybe Mexican. He loves "flat" beans (refried) and rice. Me I want beef. We can eat on our porch. The weather is supposed to be beautiful. Then nap for me and more tv for him. Oh well. Whatever it takes, right?

Ariom. I used to have to be at work by 6:30 so I was up by 5 to eat, walk the dog and get ready. I did that for 15+ years. Old habits are hard to break but I've always been a morning person. However I married a night owl. Makes taking care of sick kids easier.

Granwe. How is the OG, DD and the dog? Are you feeling better on F! Fermera every other day?

The boy said the F! Word last night while trying to get his shirt off. He learned it from me. His daddy had a talking to with him and told me not to laugh. He has said something resembling it several times today. Not sure if he should stand in the corner or ignore him. I think he knows we have another round this week. He's been whiny and asking for the JS hold.

Have a good night everyone. Good morning M. Hope GrammaB is doing well. Wish we had asked her DD to text one of us.

Popping in, in hopes of seeing a post from GB or her DD, didn't really expect it but I was still hoping.

Zills glad your day went well and that Miss Poopy pants isn't living up to her name.

DGS1 is here , today is his mom and dads anniversary. We are friends with the owner of the restaurant where they are having dinner, so we phoned ahead had cocktails awaiting them, the royal treatment for dinner, candles, a secluded table, their favorite dinners, and an assortment of desserts, I hope they are having a wonderful time. I also hope I can pay the bill tomorrow without having to auction a kidney or something on E-bay. Lol

The OG is doing so so. Therapy now lasts about an hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours, his pain stays around an 8 except at therapy where it jumps to a 15 on a scale of 1 to 10. The 21st will be another hopping day, he sees the surgeon, I see the MO, DD sees the OB. I am taking half a F Femara everyday, the MO may have fits but I can function on a half, hot flashes are still he11, temper is tolerable, hair is still falling out, I'm out of Ativan but I haven't committed a crime yet.

Parents are here. I'll be back soon. Huge

Hi everyone, I just did a post to everyone an lost it...don't you just hate that!

I didn't make it out today, not feeling great, sore stomach, so I have been moping around the house. It can't possibly be from the big blowout piggy fest of Monday night. I think I may have a bug. No nasties, and haven't lost my appetite!

I am still wondering about gB, as everyone else is. Hope she's getting some rest.

Bobo, I love the Miss Justine story, that boy just knows how to push the right buttons for a reaction! He will become the master of the written apology!

Hi gramwe. I am sorry that the news isn't better about the OG and his pain levels, such an awful thing to live with. Just out of interest, have they by any chance mentioned a syndrome called CPRS? Chronic Pain Response Syndrome. I had that after my Rheumatoid hand surgery. It is to do with the sympathetic nervous system......just a thought.

I'm glad the F Femara is better at a lower dose, and hope you can stay on that level. Sorry to hear about the other crappy side effects, not F'ing fair! It doesn't look like your appointments' schedule is going to slow down anytime soon. Let me know, and I'm there, in the bag !

What a lovely, thoughtful,  Anniversary gift, I am sure they were surprised and thrilled.

Zills, so glad your scan was ok, but sorry you were too tired to go shopping.

I used to have to be up a 5am when I worked for United, I can't say that even after the 11 years, I ever got used to it. I just hate early mornings. I am more of  night owl myself.

Oh my, the boy said the F word, and you think it cam from you! I know when Bec said the F word and then took great delight in telling my Father the correct names for anatomical parts, I got the blame from my outraged Father! He couldn't imagine why I would tell her the correct names for body parts. I can only imagine what it was like when she repeated them loudly while traveling on the bus with my Dad. My Dad was a very well groomed, stylish Gentleman who would have been, just mortified. Knowing Bec, she loved to get the rise out of him. I copped a real telling off for that one, even though I was almost 30. I always found totally ignoring her, was the best way to handle it, at least when she was little. When she was older it was a different tac, and I had to watch my own "gutter gums" too!

Your garden sounds sensational Wren! Mine is getting too many weeds right now so hopefully tomorrow we'll have a blitz on them. Why iss it that the weeds can grow faster than the plants, I have never "got" that!

ldesim, I just remembered, it is "Interior Therapy" with Jeff something or another! That's been bugging me all day!

    Take care everyone!

    I hope you are all resting....M x

Poor Ariom. Stomach issues are about the worst. Mine is acid tonight due to too much black pepper in the meal someone brought. How do I politely prevent a repeat?

Granwe. I bet the doc will be happy you're at least taking it. I know some that quit. I hate hot flashes too but think mine was due to consuming of a chocolate bar. My weakness but I'm paying for it now! I am considering a walk outside. The dinner sounds delightful. I would have been happy with a babysitter and you did all that to boot! Awesome. I hope they appreciate you! We will be with you on the 21st. Hopefully you won't get too tired lugging us around.

Ndgirl. Sleeplessness is the pits. I'm up with you tonight. Please let us know if you find a solution. I've seen NyQuil advertised as the new sleep aid minus the cold ingredients. Sounds like alcohol to me!

Wren. How high are your raised beds? I'm jealous of your garden. Maybe if I get good news and no

more chemo, I can do a fall crop of lettuce.

Idesim. Crumbs are a fact of life here. I should do better about having the kids eat at the kitchen table but it's nice to eat off the coffee table. The baby would probably eat at the kitchen table every time but the boy has learned about eating off the coffee table. Used to be able to sit on a stool at it but too tall now. She doesn't sit. Always busy unless she's in her high chair.

I'm going to get on my soapbox now. We were foster parents. Please teach your children and grandchildren the proper names for their parts. If anything ever happened, it would make it easier in court. Thankfully we never had that issue but we heard stories that would break your heart.

    Hi Zills,

Thank you! I'll be fine, I did nothing today. I still have my appetite, but I am trying to be careful about what I eat.

I'd thank the person for the delicious meal they made for you, but say, that although you like pepper, you're not sure if it because of the treatment, but it is upsetting your stomach. I can't see anyone being offended with honesty. If it were me making food for you, I would much rather be told to leave out an ingredient than have you not be able to eat it.

I totally agree with you about teaching kids the correct names. I must say though, it wasn't all that common when Bec was a toddler. I didn't like all the "cutesy pie" names!

I hope you are fast asleep now, and the children wake up well!

I think the raised bed of lettuce is a great idea! I like the idea of the recycled fence palings. Mine is corrugated metal, with stones as a filter and good soil with compost in it. It is about 18 inches high and about 48 inches square. I have  a bunch of self watering oblong pots for the herbs and the spring onions etc. It is super easy to look after, and just keeps on giving!

    Still thinking about gB.....M x

Wishing for an update from gB.  Ariom, so sorry about your bug!  Did I give it to you?  :)

Hoping that you can cuddle on the couch with our Dex, maybe read some great magazines.  I used to love a magazine.  Right now I do not really have time to assemble magazines.  Z, so sorry about your reflux!  Why can we not crack it?  I so wish the 'normal' things would work.  I don't even know.  Don't they have prescriptions for that?  Or Maalox?  Cooling foods, like cucumbers?  Or are cucumbers gas-producing?  I know you do kefir.  I would think that would be good.  Are you doing Ariom's probiotics?  I would hate to have that acid reflux.  I want to stop it.

Chocolate!  I take one bite and... *hot flash*.  I had something like twenty hot flashes yesterday and the day before; they are driving me nuts.  Plus, it is beating hot here. Is it hot in SC, gramwe?  You are so thoughtful to do that for your kids.  I am so sorry about hte OG's pain level.  When do they say it might abate?

Update!  My mother -- who did not come for the Girls' Rock concert, and you know how I feel about that -- has called and asked to take the children for a week.  She knows I have to work that week.  This is the first time she has ever offered something like this -- we've been an hour and a half away for two years, never so much as an overnight.  I believe she is doing it because she looks not good after sitting on her bum upstate all summer while my brother and I were in the trenches -- he with a divorce and I with six jobs and really not much childcare.  I imagine she is on the blower right now telling everyone she has her grandchildren for the week.  Still, I am grateful for the opportunity to work for a week without the crazy juggling.  Although I'm worried about our princess, and I will miss her terribly.  It will be nice to have a break, though, from WB and his continual wearing attention-drawing operations (see above).

Hot flash!  Right now the kids are eating breakfast.  Off to another hot day.  Ariom, I am jealous of your winter!  Nd, we have got to get you some sleep.  Does nothing work?  Melatonin?  Valerian?  Ativan?  Nothing?  Are they going to do a sleep study?  I am everybody's doctor today.  BTW -- I am officially off watermelon.   After throwing up a lot of watermelon last week.

On the subject of teaching children proper names for private areas -- we did that, certainly.  And then we had to endure a long stretch of time in which our princess would ask the grocery checker things like 'Do you have a penis?  Or a vagina?'  Mortifying.  And it lasted for, like, a year.  We had continual vagina updates, morning and night.

There was a cartoon in which the characters would run off together and say, 'To the book club!'  And our princess would imitate them, imitate someone about to run off, and she'd exclaim, 'To the butt club!'

No kefir. Makes it worse. Going to ask doc about probiotics. Thanks for reminding me.

I think your mom should take them no matter why. Hopefully your children won't pick up on anything and have a good time. That's the most important thing. They will have memories and feel identity when they grow up. The plus side is you need a break. Take advantage! And yes you'll worry. We all do.

My raised beds are 2 boards high, narrow and long. They're next to the driveway which determined the width. My eggplant has one baby, about 2 bites each. You can grow lettuce in a wide flower pot or even a deep saucer. The roots aren't very long, so it doesn't need much space. We grow the leaf kind and just trim leaves off when we pick.

Bobo, my Mom kept my 2 exactly one week in their entire lives. As a grandparent, the big question is what to feed them. At least my little set will eat vegetables (parsley & chard are their favorites).

Zills, they used to say drink milk for stomach problems. Now they say the sugar makes your stomach produce more acid and you shouldn't drink it. I used to eat crackers while visualizing them soaking up the acid.

My sleeping troubles, I have tried everything except the ativan that was suggested. melatonin just leaves me awake and like a drunken hangover the next day.. all day  and it is a hormone and I hate messing with them anymore than they already are, and Dr. Oz doesnt really recommend it either or in very small doses. I did take 2 advil pm last nite and one 222, which I  get in Canada that contains codeine! Should have knocked me into the middle of next week! I slept some tho but dont want to do that everynite. My son suggested sleep study but not sure how they would do it when I do not sleep! It is first on list on my appt. next week.

I keep checking for GB too. I have our 2 grandsons this week, they are gone golfing with their Dad and Grandpa now so I have time to check on all you gals. Having a great visit with them, they are 11 and 13.

I ordered from Mary at solutionsformastectomies.com. Did you say you use them for swimming? I need one for that.

Ladies, your newest flat sista is home!! I am exhausted, so haven't read all the threads but will try to catch up later.  So touched to see how many of you were thinking of me! (ndgirl, I was sending prayers to your GD while I sat in the waiting room, it was calming for me and so glad to hear everything went well for her!)

The SNB went well, took a while to get them to light up was all.  The four shots of lidocane were nothing, and the 4 of dye, I didn't feel at all.  Then into surgery.  Everything went well, it took 4.5 hours!  Didn't have a long breathing tube just a tube that went in mouth to back of throat so no huge sore throat, thank goodness. I was out of recovery and into my room by 4PM.  The excellent news is that SN are clear no sign of ca there at all, on first test.  Dr. says they will test them again after they sit in something, can't remember what, for final result. I'm to call on Friday for the final report.

I was nauseous when I came to enough to eat and nothing sounded good. Had a cup of nasty tasting boullion.  Ordered salmon and steamed broccoli and 2 servings of jello for dinner but one sniff of the salmon and I knew I couldn't eat it!!  Nibbled on 2 flowerets of broccoli was about all of that I could eat.  Ate 1 and a half of the jello servings.  It tasted the best of all!! Unfortunately it all returned to sender in about a half hour.  The broccoli stayed down though.  Odd.

The pain was not too bad, as long as I didn't move around much, so I had only been taking 1 percoset per dose.  The place was so noisy beeping machines, I had the IV in left arm, they had to move it up to the crook of my arm after the first one lower down clogged up.  Oxygen monitor on right hand and both legs were not only in the compression stockings but in wraps that blew up with air every few minutes starting at the ankle slowly going to the knee. So every body part was tied to something! And every thing was making its own noise!! :(  It was a real proceedure to get to the bathroom!!

So at midnight when the nurse offered me my percoset (I could have 1 or 2) I decided to take 2 hoping it would knock me out so I could sleep.  Big mistake!! DD had gone home around 8:00, it might have made a difference had she been there, but what happened was weird!  About an hour after taking the 2 pills I all of a sudden noticed that the IV monitor was "talking" to me! It was like "edward o". It made me crazy for about a half hour so I buzzed the nurses station.  I said my monitor was talking to me, she said, oh, OK we will send some one down.  Well another 20 minutes passed and no one came, the monitor was now on a different note for somereason and was "saying" something else!  I buzzed again, and again she said she'd send someone down....again no one!  I tried to sleep over it, but couldn't quite get to sleep.  And I was freaking a bit, thinking I heard a big storm. Very confused!!  At 3ish the nurse came in for vitals and to see if I needed more pain meds.  I told her about the "voice", she acted like she didn't know anything about it.  I realized by then what was going on, that I just couldn't take that much percocet at one time.  (But that morning when my DD came back in she said that the person answering the buzz had to be my nurse as there was just the one station there.  Hmmmm, maybe I imagined/dreamed that too!)  By the time she did her thing and they got me to the bathroom, I was drained.  I still couldn't get to sleep so finally at about 4 the nurse gave me a benadryl in hopes I could get some sleep.

I did finally doze off but at 6AM the tech came in for her stuff, bp and all.  They had to take off one of the leg wraps to do bp because couldn't use rt because of nodes and couldn't use left because of IV. Oh joy!  So I got maybe 2 hours together of sleep. Then 1/2 hr worth of getting unhooked and going to potty and getting re-hooked to everything......man o man!! Dozed a bit more and at 7 they came in to take my blood sugar, sheesh!!

I was a wreck in the morning but amazinly my bs was 115 which is a very respectable number considering all I ate yesterday was 2 broccoli flowerets and a cup of broth.  I tell you all I wanted to do was get the he11 out of there.  Then in comes the nurse saying I could stay another day if I wanted.......um NO!!!

I felt fine stomach wise, my DD brought me my coffee w/heavy whipping cream and coconut oil and some bacon!!  BACON, that fixed me.  Had a hardboiled egg and some watermelon from the kitchen and was ready to get out of there.

Got the nurse ordered, was shown how to do drains myself and got all paper worked signed and we wer outta there!!

Had to drive a bit and then pick up rx and go to my PO Box.  Got home about noon, ate a bit of lunch unpacked all the stuff from the hospital.  Just wanted to let you guys know all is well and I am home comfortably sitting in my recliner!! DD is making eggplant lasagne for dinner.

I'm tired need to nap, more later.

So glad you are home and it is over! also good news about the nodes! wow you had some real experience with drugs. My minister just had knee surgery and during the nite when they checked his vitals, he said he had no idea who he was or anything that was happening, but he also realized that he didnt know! how scary, but it passed after awhile, guess those drugs are some powerful things huh?

Get some good rest and enjoy you DD. Welcome home!

Thanks Zills and ndgirl!  I was fine this morning after having my coffee and bacon! ;)  The surgeon said there is actually a thing that breast surgery often causes nausea.  That it could be the cause besides the anesthetic.

I am so glad it is over and done with!!  I learned real quick to stay on schedule with the pain med!  1/2 hour late after my nap and chest hurt the most it has since surgery.  Hopefully off them in the next day or two.  Only irratation is my arm pits.  They kind of buldge out of the wrap and are bruised and swollen a bit.  I've been keeping ice on them.  BS said to wrap it higher when I take off for first shower.  Written across the wrap is a note, "Do not take me off until Sept 16!"

Lol, before the surgery the bs asked am I still sure I want to take both?  I said, if I had 3 I'd say take all three!! She laughed and said she hadn't heard that before!

Coffee with heavy cream and coconut oil?!  Yum.  I am so glad your DD is there.

Idesim, I am worried about you with that Herceptin.  I hope you are getting a good rest.  How often do you do that one?  Every three weeks?  Seems like you just had one.  Why don't you live closer?

I have been checking and checking.  So happy to hear from you guys! GB, you're right -- don't get behind with pain meds.  XXX

Thanks Idesim!  The Jacki came well for going home in.  My hospital is one of the ones that sends us home with 2 big safety pins :( ..... oh well got my Amoena cami on now and am fairly comfy.

Sorry you are having problems with the Herceptin! Will that get better in time or do you just have to tough it out?  Don't know anything about it.

Yeah, bobo, coffee with HWC and coconut oil really gets my day going fills me up and that is what I really needed today!!

I'm still pretty tired, I think I am going to sleep early tonight, in peace and quiet!!   Sadly DD goes home tomorrow.

Welcome home GB! So glad you are back here so we can take care of you. : ) Doing a happy happy happy dance knowing that you have clean nodes. Kisses to your precious DD for taking such good care of you.

Idedim, what's going on with this Herception? I'm fretting here. Don't like the woozies at all.

Nd. I'll look for you in the wee hours. No sleep is happening here either.

Hugs to everyone. Have had the day from HE11. Going to take a bubble bath and await the sunrise.

GB, Have a restful night. I'm jealous about the eggplant lasagne. Love it.

The problem with no sleep is that it's really boring, and dark thoughts populate the wee hours. I have no suggestions. Nothing works for me to put me to sleep. Benedryl actually wires me and I can't even sit still.

Hello everyone. I am so thrilled to see you're home and comfy gB, but sorry your daughter has to go so soon.

I have spent the whole day face down on the couch with Dex sprawled across my American Fanny.

I have had the worst stomach bug. OMG, it's the pits. I have a Doctors appointment in half an hour, but I don't have the energy to get there.

I will be back later to see how everyone is doing...take care all...M x
