new and future flat sister, with questions

GrammaB. Is there a snack you can pack while you wait for your meal to be delivered? It might take longer than you can wait. I take my Xanax as needed to so don't feel bad. I started it again last night. It will be better with your daughter there. Waiting is so hard. I didn't know Asian's had red hair. How cool is that and they both got to experience their daughter.
I don't know much about swans. We had three visitors when I was first diagnosed. I called them my three miracles. We have lots of Canadian geese. They can be scary so I can only imagine a black swan would be terrifying chasing you.
I actually feel good this morning. I think it was the change in meds. I dropped the new ones. Time will tell.
The baby is home with nasty diapers. Having to wash her sheets again! The boy is home too since school doesn't start until Wed. May go see a movie if he gets his room cleaned and I feel up to it. They have gotten into the closet and drug all the toys out. My DH has volunteered to stay home today:). I think he needs some quiet time too if you can call home with two kids quiet time. He had to work all weekend.
Have a good Monday!0 -
I wish school started Wednesday for us, Z! It's not until 3 September. So glad you are feeling better. GB, she hasn't had a seizure since October. She's taking anti-seizure medication. She was hospitalized for a week in January while they figured it out. This has been the worst year of my life. It makes my diagnosis year and surgery seem like nothing in comparison. I went into this year's surgery completely without caring about it as a result.
Ariom, that's quite a story about the Motel! You are our externally unflappable one. I agree about all of the details though -- it makes sense how it was worked out. SO HAPPY about your blood work! I was waiting to hear the results. And so jealous of your Monday afternoon appointment with your favorite shows! That sounds so much fun. I haven't seen either of those shows. We don't get much time like that over here. The kids are on overdrive lately. By the time they get to bed, we are exhausted.
Am I taking care of myself? Right now I am having a smoothie. But, to be honest, my appetite has never returned after the biopsy. Three of the four or five things I eat now are 'off the menu' because I threw up so much last week: beans, rice, and ... watermelon! I haven't had a bite of watermelon since. I feel the loss sorely.
I'm going to the doctor in October -- the PCP -- after my next mammo, and I'll let her know about the appetite thing, but you know how doctors are. She'll be like, Well, that's too bad, let's keep an eye on that, blah blah blah.
Z, are you getting ready for your appt? Is it tomorrow? Let us know so we can get ready. We're going to be in a lot of bags this week!

Sorry ive been a little self centered.
Yes Ariom that is wonderful news. I'm sure you are so relieved.
My appt is at 9. Have to drop the boy off at 8 with his nanny. Unfortunately her number is unreachable right now so I'm at little anxious about her remembering.
My friend is going with me since DH has to work. But he said he'll be there Thursday, that's more important. It is but I'm glad I have someone to go with me tomorrow. I'll be carrying my little sunflower striped purse unless the boy has to go too.
Off to nap. Baby napping too. Boy parked in front of tv:) DH went to work after all but should come home early.0 -
No time to read right now, will try later this evening. Heading out to airport to pick up DD. The pre-reg nurse called for all the normal info this am and said DD could stay the night with me if she wanted!! No one ever told me that before!! Will have to check into it!
Gotta run! Have a great day all!

Yes GrammaB. I recommend she stay. She will be a big help so you don't have to wait on the nurses and it's good to have company in the middle of the night.
I know we are grown ups but I felt better to have my husband stay. He originally thought I was crazy to ask but he was glad he stayed after all. Don't plan on getting much sleep. They love to check vitals in the middle of the night and early morning when you are trying to sleep.
It's also more time you can spend together. Something folds out into a bed and wasn't too bad to sleep on. My room had 9 pillows. Don't forget to put one in the car for the ride home.0 -
Bobogirl, if you want an appetite, ask PCP about mirtazapine. It's an old anti-depressant that gives you a ravenous appetite. Probably a week's worth would be all you'd need. The shelter uses it (in an extremely tiny dose) for cats who won't eat. They get a cold, can't smell their food, and won't eat. Not eating puts them in danger of liver problems.
0 -
Good idea Wren. I haven't heard of that one. Bobo can you get an appt before Oct? We don't want you to shrivel up and blow away. You have a new house, a new job and school craziness will be starting soon.
I can tell you what I got sick on in the beginning I can now eat. I don't really think about it, just take a bite and see what happens. I've never been a cereal fan but I eat several bowls a day now. It's cold and goes down easy and is nutritious. Try some crazy kid flavors!0 -
Hey Wren. They put me on mirtazipine after my first dx -- I lost 30 pounds after surgery. Right away I gained 17 back -- it was scary! Many SEs -- don't know I'd ask for it out right. Only reason I took it is because they were threatening to put me back in the hospital to monitor weight gain! Good times.

GB, I stayed the night with our princess when she was in the hospital for a week. It was great. I slept on the fold-out bed, and I had brought all her favorite foods, and there was a little refrigerator. I could even scootch into the bed with her! It was a real relief to have one of us there all the time.
Thinking of you so much! No need to write us right away. But let us know if you need any help from the nurses! XXX

Good morning all!
Just a quick read and I must get ready. I have the gardeners coming today to help, so lots to do.
I'll be back a little later! M x

GrammaB. Are you drinking? Drink some more!
So glad your DD is there. Just remember you've been through child birth, child rearing, international travel and building houses with armed guards. You can do this. We all did and we will be with you.
Take your Xanax so you can sleep tonight. Not much sleeping in the hospital:). Drink some more!
Everyone else be ready for a long walk to the hospital with forecast of rain. Have to drop kids off first. Then a boring wait for my turn. Hope I don't have to drink the nasty stuff.0 -
Hey Z, no tv? No movie? Can you take your laptop with you and watch Netflix? I don't want you to be bored. Can you watch a good 'house porn' movie? You know, like Something's Gotta Give with Diane Keaton? That's one of my favorites.
Hot flash! Birdie, that's one of the reasons I don't have an appetite..

I'm packed and ready to go! I'll be with Zills in the AM and scoot over to GrammaB by the time she wakes up! Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers Zills.
I'm not familiar with white swams, but I think they too can be nasty. I remember my father being chased by geese because he dared go near one of their babies and my grandfather used to take me to feed the ducks and I tried to feed one by hand and it got my hand too! They were big white ducks, I don't know what they were.
Ndgirl, the flower picking sounded like so much fun! Your garden sounds breathtaking, I love all those flowers. I sure do hope you enjoyed a nice mosquito free afternoon on your deck! F the housework.. who really gives a crap
Bobogirl, the backstages passes was ingenious!!! How touching that they all were there, I would have been moved by that as well. I love the description of the performance and love that the princess had her punk streaks in. What an event, I wish I had seen it. Talk about awesomenes.. how far has the princess come in a year... proud can't even begin to describe how you felt I am sure.
Please, don't even get me started on weight, I swear that the more I exercise, the more I put on... I'm fearing its the F'ing Tamoxifen.
Gramwe, I hope the furbaby is feeling batter... I wish I could have seen that battle royale! I'm sorry about your uncle, but am peeing myself over the little old ladies vying for his attention and the fear of the sitter fearful of a blue haired brawl! Even funnier is the evil stares at the funeral... old women can be pure evil!! Yes, your aunt kicked is @ss I am sure at the gates haha.
I think we should all find this diabetes site and B slap the he11 out of that insensitive cow, then we'll force her to watch every last second the surgery online and write an essay on why she would not wish to undergo a mastectomy.
Speaking of essays, how is William's bathroom habits?
Great news Moira!!! One less thing to now worry about and one more piece of normalcy back to your life.
Zills!!! I'm so glad to hear you are feeling better.. I hope it has lasted and that it will last now with the meds change.
That's all the catching up I am up for now!

Ok, I am back! Just tell me where I have to be!
Zills, I love how you are prompting gB with the water etc. I hadn't even remembered that, but so important. I hope everything worked out with the children.
I am sure gB's daughter is there now and they are catching up. Not long now and another page is turned on the journey!
I am up for the long walk to the Hospital. I didn't take Dex on a big walk yesterday, and I ate too much junk watching Dexter and True Blood. I didn't even want my dinner. You don't want to know what I ate!
Bobo, I am still telling people about the camp and our Princess being a rock star. Everyone is very impressed. I am so thrilled that it went so well, and it is something to look forward to next year.
I wish you could find your eating MOjO again, my lovely! I so worry about you, and all you have to do.
Zills is feeling a bit better, so that's a huge plus. I have been worried for you too, lovely one.
Oh that house, in Something's Gotta Give, I love it so much! I go onto a great site when I am looking for ideas called Houzz. It is amazing, for anything you want to do with a house, there are always pics to help.
ldesim, I hear you with the weight issue. I am not on tamox, but I do take cortisone daily. I spent my whole life till I was in my 50's, at about a 6/8 size. I could eat whatever I wanted and never put on any weight. Then the dreaded steroids took over. I hate it with a passion.
Thanks for the good wishes about the bloods. I feel great, till the next time.....sigh
Must run, but will be there whenever you need me! Will check back to see what's going on...M x

Oh, I want to know what you ate, for one! Please do tell us. I wish I could have been there for the watch party!
Agree about ND's garden. And how is the puppy with the poor ear, Gramwe? I want to kiss him.
Our baby is still a rock star! Punk streaks persist. And she's humming snatches of the tunes from Saturday. I just love her so much.
Love those stories of the evil old ladies and the evil swan! I want one of those evil swans for my backyard. Hmmm. I am trying to cook things -- my goal is to eat one cooked vegetable a day. So, for example, instead of just rice, or whatever, I will have a plate of steamed greens or squash.
Our princess is not having any trouble eating, I can tell you that. Her arms are looking a little thick and lovely! She gets 'saddlebags' just before she grows. She's going to hate that when she is older.
Funny you should mention WB. Here we are in the tiny house, one bathroom. I wanted to take a shower. But he popped into the bathroom and initiated a giant poopy just before I was ready to get in there. *Sigh.* This is going to be disgusting. He was nearly permanently kicked out of his stupid art camp on Friday for irritating the deliciate and inexperienced transgender art teacher Miss Justine until she was crying. I had to do total damage control on that. He was forced to write a note of apology. Unfortunately, Miss Justine loved her apology note. I saw her reading it several times. And so, the drama continues.
Ready for my cross-country hospital hopping tomorrow! I just hope Idesim does not spill beer on me. She is a bad influence!

Must be in the air. The boy is eating us out of house and home. He's grown an inch since May. He gets a poochy belly right before his growth spurt. Once the baby feels better, she will be eating like a horse.
Granwe. Hope the dog is better. I remember ear infections in my lab. Horrible things but respond well to meds. Always got one when she got a bath or went swimming.
I bet Ndgirl is sleeping well after chasing grand kids.
Bobo. A plate of veg. You go girl. I should do that. Maybe after chemo.
Panic in house. All fannies up in the air. Remotes are missing! There was no such thing when I was little. My parents told us kids to change the channels.
Missy prissy was on the loose today. I was napping and DH on the phone, working. She unraveled the tp, got in the trash. No telling where the remotes are. Can tell you there are crumbs and balls under the couch. How did the crumbs get there?
Good night all. Good morning M. GrammaB. Drink!0 -
Oh Bobo! I am paying for the pig out today!
Fudge, TimTams, and lemon cake. Then the savoury stuff came out, white Hummous, and crisp poppyseed dipping squares. I was good, only water for me, and one cup of tea. The reflux has kicked in again. I am wondering if it could be to do with the new Olive Leaf I am taking. After years on the same one, I had to find another since mine had been deleted from the company's line. It seems like I have been having these issues ever since changing to this one which has Thyme in it. A break from it may be the way to go.
Colin got it wrong. I was waiting for the gardeners, and the Window Cleaner arrived. Not complaining, he's amazing and does this huge house, which is mainly windows, for a song.
Thursday for the garden!
Golly Zills, I don't know how many times I went ballistic trying to find the remotes. A couple of times, they had been thrown out by mistake. Love the picture in my mind of all the fannies in the air! LOL
Bobo, anything that you can eat is good. I am sorry you had to intervene when Miss Justine was upset. I'd love to hear the apology! But so pleased that all is well again, can't be getting thrown out of art camp!
Now who's spilling beer? Miss Bobo, that's your thing!:)
Take care everyone..I'll be back later..M x

It is 11:10 my time, Monday night, 50 more minutes and I can't eat or drink anything. Zills, I got it drink! ) But which Gentleman Jack or Jose Cuervo??? LOL! I have been chugging so much water today I'm floating, but I'm going to give it a little chaser just before the cut off!!;)
I read all the posts, but my comments seem to be falling out of my head, a little scatter brained right now.
I have to be up by 5:40AM and get to watch my DD fix herself breakfast. I hope the accomodations are OK and that she will stay, but I leave that to her. It was never anything I had any expectation of being available so what will be will be.
I stayed with my DH in hospital for a month while he had his chemo. We lived hours away from the hospital and I wasn't leaving him alone. I went home I think 2 times durning the whole month. The second time they nearly killed him. He was getting a blood transfusion and they didn't monitor him in the beinning as they are supposed to. He had a reaction to the blood and they almost didn't get to him in time!! From then on they always had to warm the blood before his transfusions. Sheesh, one day I leave and they go to he11 with the care. I hated that hospital, it was dirty and I didn't trust the nurses with him. I was doing the wet to dry bandages on the incision on his leg from his bypass and the cleaning staff left the soiled bandages in room garbage for days. And he was neutropenic at the time....argggh! Don't know why I'm thinking about that tonight....
Now I have about 20 more minutes I can eat or drink. Just had a fat bomb...very high fat treat from lc/hf diet. I'm going to need the energy from the fats tomorrow. God knows anything they feed me there will be low fat!!
I have lots of pockets in the Jacki so you are all welcome to come!! OK, my new dear friends, see you on the other side!!

Big hugs and kisses from Downunder gB.
I have been thinking about you all day. I will be doing an Angel meditation tonight, you will be with me.
Love to your daughter, and can't wait till you're all tucked up in bed and feeling fine. I am in the Jacki pocket, just in case you need me.
All the very best from me! M x

GrammaB. I'm up with you! Take care. We are with you all day. Don't get too tired lugging us around. Be glad you are early so the doctors are fresh and you get it over with. No more waiting!
0 -
Zills, you're up so early! Are you Ok?
I had a massage this afternoon, so I am pleasantly sore! She really gets into the trigger points.
I am thinking about gB too. I agree about the early call. I wanted my Surgeon fresh too!
How are the children doing? Is the baby over the stomach virus yet?
I hope you can have a rest later, after such an early start. Chat later....M x

I'm up with my gang! Up at five and ready for action. Like our A, I can't wait until GB is cozy in bed and loaded up with pain meds. She has no idea how fine it's going to be yet. This last gauntlet is the worst part. Almost over!
Z, how are you doing? I am going to cause a lot of trouble at your place today, I have just decided it. Your Miss Prissy has nothing on me. I am going to eat a sandwich under your chair and cause crumbs, so that you will feel at home
I feel everything's going our way for our dear ones, don't you? And, I must say, I am not naturally optimistic. Laughing at Ariom's story: she gorged herself on sweeties and the dreaded humuus, then blamed her reflux on the Olive Leaf! XXX

I'm up for Zills and GB. In your pockets for the day. You got this. Big Hugs and a ton of positive energy for both of you.
0 -
You're a cracker Bobo! You make me laugh so much. I really do think it's the Olive Leaf....really:)
You're up too early too! What's going on there this morning?
Isn't it awful, waiting to hear how gB is doing. I know she'll be fine, but it's the waiting.
We are expecting lots of rain and storms for the next few days, so I won't be out much.
Have you got a lot on this week, or are things slowing down a bit now since you've moved.
Catch you tomorrow...M x

Oh yes, definitely, I've got a lot on. In meetings right now. And all day. Behind the eight ball, really. I have two 'preps' for classes I have never taught. And meetings for the other part of my job. Trying to get syllabi together! XXX

Hello to all! especially thinking of GB Today! hugs and more hugs! little gd just got out of surgery for tonsils! dr. said they were like ice bergs,, whatever that means, must been very hard and swollen.
Take it easy GB, we are all here for you!
0 -
Nd so glad that surgery is over for your GD. Sending hugs and wishes for a speedy recovery.
0 -
Yes, long day waiting for results. Glad your GD is out of surgery nd.
Bobo, hope you are continuing to eat the rice in addition to steamed greens and squash. There's probably only about 25 calories in each of the steamed veggies.
Sunday we had green beans, finger potatoes, steamed yellow squash and a tomato and cucumber salad for dinner. Dessert was watermelon. The beans, squash and tomato were out of our new raised bed garden.
0 -
Ndgirl. You should sleep good tonight with those results. Poor thing. Do they still recommend all the ice cream you want?
Wren. Dinner sounds wonderful.
Ariom. I have to get up an hour before everyone to take that stupid a/r pill. I like to eat breakfast with the kids.
Thanks for everyone's positive energy. The scan was a piece of cake. Took longer to walk to the car but nobody got rained on. Now it's my turn to drink, drink, drink flush the dye.
Had hoped to run two! errands but felt tired on the way to the car. Stopped to get ginger, bread and bananas for Miss Poopy Pants. She woke up just wet. No sheet washing this morning.
Picked up both kids and came home. DH out of town. I napped. She's still napping and the boy had an indoor picnic in front of tv. Now he wants to ride his bike.
Bobo you were supposed to eat that sandwich at the hospital. I feel crumbs all over the kitchen floor. Apparently DH made himself a sandwich for breakfast. That bread is very crumby.
It's a good thing the boy likes to dust mop. And leftovers for dinner. Tomorrow is his first day of school. Just half a day. Maybe we'll pick something up on the way home. He got pancakes at McDonalds today with his nanny.
GrammaB should be in her room by now. Hope she's eating something good. I'm going to find a snack.0 -
Wren, I am so proud of your garden! Raised bed. That sounds so exotic. Did you buy a raised bed? Or did you make it yourself out of boards?
You know me, Z. Crumbs everywhere. I am sooo messy. I don't care who has to clean the floor, I live in the moment. So glad your scan was easy! I will be waiting and waiting for the results. Email me anytime, day or night. And I am going to PM my phone number.
ND, so glad your GD is out of surgery! Tonsils like icebergs do not sound good. That surgeon is not an excellent communicator. *surprise*
So hoping that our GB is in her room right now, yummy snack, fave show on the telly. XXX
