Hey Bobo, boiled eggs and soldiers together! Yay What a good day it is!
Yes I know exactly what ripping a new one is! I've offered to do it for the odd d'head here in Oz:)
i am so pleased to see you so "Up", all is looking pretty Rosy for our little group! So great to be a part of!
Take it easy....M x

Thank you all for the crumbs and the happy dance. Am beat. Ativan kicking my butt. Only 65 min until next meds. May have to take them a wee bit early after I get the boy in bed.
GrammaB. JCPenney has a boomerang pillow on sale and possibly coupons too. My froend ordered it Tuesday and it will be here tomorrow. Would help in the bed. I agree you want options. I am the reverse. Sleep at night in the recliner and daytime in the bed.
Glad I'm not the only one with pins and needles sensations and itching. Mainly after driving or laying on my sides. Monime posted a link to some yoga poses to help open up the chest.

Yes Idesim. You need to take it easy. You deserve a break. And the frog on the dime is the size of my largest tumor. Looks manageable. I googled what size is 7.7 mm and he came up. There were only two marked and maybe one more closet to the edge. So 6 weeks of yuckiness, a scan and then something else.0 -
Before I drop off. He said I could take a probiotic but didn't recommend one or say anything about b12 for fatigue. Got any recommendations that I could find at my local big box store.

Hey gramwe, you've had me in conniptions. I have read and re read your post. Thought I'd missed the birth of our baby, somehow. Went back and re read your previous posts back to this one, now I get it. Your daighter ate like a little piggie, good to hear, and you get to see the little Peach on a scan at the OB. Please tell me that's it!
OMG, I am exhausted now!
Have a good night gramwe! I am off for a stroll with The Dex! no rites for me today, feel sooo much better, but reminds me of a hangover...take care now M x

Glad you are feeling better Ariom, flu bugs just suck!
Gramwe, agree about your DS, wow, my son has had type 1 since he was 12 and never had a 500 reading, but I sure have heard of them and also much higher, but does so much damage to the body, my DH also has type 2 and it does get out of control at times but it takes a good scare for him to shape up again. And correct there is no cure, so he has to manage it and it is hard for sure but do-able, hope he takes care of himself. you dont need anymore worries, and just WHAT were you to do for DIL while at appts? I will 2nd the nomination for ditz of the year. I know the wandering foob feeling...!
Zills! Cant stop smiling thinking of your good news with the scan and also good daycare, that means so much! Keep up the good work, so nice to get a good report!
Wren, dh still has to have prescription for metformin, but now is on Januvia with metformin which is terrible for price! a nurse friend grabs samples when they get them and gives to him every chance she can. Even after ins. it is expensive and metformin is dirt cheap.
Idesim, LOL, my husband has offered to do the same thing but tonite I am taking 3 Valerian as bottles says and see what happens! will let you know. Glad you can get Herceptin I didnt realize you couldnt get it a few years ago, hope heart stays strong, heart is also one of the se of arimidex that I take, but I do it anyway. Pray for the best!
Gb, I didnt have much in drain the first day or 2 but after I got moving around more it started to drain more, I even kept mine in a little longer than necessary just because I didnt want to have any build up of fluid after they were out, but no trouble there. Boy turn us all loose on that first HH and they will be history, how dare they? Glad things are working out tho. and you can have some help from another hh, must be the way things were meant to be for you.
hope everyone has a restful nite (including myself) if the valerian root works.

Idesim, I would never even attempt to brush a cat's teeth. The only good thing would be that the cat would bite the brush rather than your fingers.
Zills, WONDERFUL NEWS!!!
What is soldier toast?
0 -
Hi Wren,
I wouldn't try to brush a cat's teeth either, ldesim needs a bravery award for that one!
Soldier toast is when you cut the toast into long strips to dip into the egg yolk. You have to get the timing just right with the boiled egg! .......M x
I have had the nicest lazy day today. It has been really warm and no wind till late afternoon. I have cleared out the veggie patch, all ready for some chook poo, and then I will replant again. I went to the opp shop, nothing took my fancy today, there's always tomorrow! I bought a swag of magazines, not something I do often, but I will flick through them sitting in the sun tomorrow, and then pass them on to Colin's girls.
I had a cup of tea, and couldn't resist a coconut chocolate cookie, so I had one, and then another, and I still feel fine. My tummy feels like someone has punched me hard, but no pain now. Lovely chicken soup and garlic bread for dinner tonight.
Take care ...M x

Ariom, you are such a good cook. Glad your stomach is feeling better now. Sorry it is sore. Buying a swag of magazines sounds like a fantastic idea.
Idesim, I agree about your not having time to process. I'm sure it is contributing to your feeling of overwhelm. I'm sure many of us have the same issue -- it seems we all just kept going right after any kind of treatment. Ariom, I remember -- was it Bec telling us? -- a story of her having to chase you around the grocery store! Not sure quite how we will 'process' while still doing all the things we do. But when you have time for a breather, maybe you will think about a less stressful job. I'm sure there are other, smaller places that would be so happy to have you...
nd, did the valerian work? Funny -- my cats line up to get teeth brushed! When I brush bobo's teeth, one of the kitties comes right up for his turn. Gramwe, can't wait to hear the story of the peach! A, you are right -- the peach is not born yet..
0 -
Idesim, brushing a cat's teeth? Do you wear protective clothing and eyewear? My cat's are bathed, but teeth brushing will not be attempted, at least not by this old gal. My guys would scratch out eyeballs.
Nd, are you sleeping? Sure hope so. Sleeplessness sucks! The body is tired the mind just will not turn off. Right now is perfect sleeping weather here, rainy, unseasonably cool, and I've been up for hours. It doesn't help when the OG spends the night practicing for a spot with the Radio City Rockettes. His restless legs never seem to bother him, I end up with bruises and the poor cat goes flying out of bed at least twice per night.
M, the peach is still growing. DD has an app on her phone, each week she gets an update on the babies growth, and each time so far they have compared the size of the baby with a fruit, last week it was a plum, this week a peach. We, well actually she, is 12 weeks along, the constant nausea, vomiting has finally let up and she is eating like a little piggy. Yesterday she had on her "fat pants" that means she had to wear her size 1 pants instead of her normal 0, or 00. Today she is going to a breast feeding class, halarious when you consider the poor child has no breast, well I guess she does have more than her dear mom. : )
Zills, still smiling from your wonderful news. You got this whipped. Also happy that your child care problem has been resolved. Less stress more rest! I think our Bobo, Idesim, Wren, Nd,GB, M, could all benefit from less stress and more rest! I'm a hopeless case, stress follows me like flies on stink!
Speaking of stress he just rolled out of bed, time to feed the beast, and see what wonderful surprises this rainy day has in store.
Hugs0 -
Hi Bobo, and gramwe,
I am fine now Bobo, felt the energy returning today, so I am over that bug now. It is midnight now and I am just going to bed,
Thank goodness for the explanation about the little peach, I thought I was going nuts! How did I miss the fruit analogy?
I have to tell you gramwe, one of Colin's girls is pregnant too. When she first arrived as one of Colin's carers I wasn't sure she'd be able to do everything because she was so tiny. She not only blew me away when she could take on any of the work, but as she has been getting further into the pregnancy she has developed breasts like you wouldn't believe, and each time she turns up for a shift I am amazed at the expanding tum!
I have read all my Magazines, well, read is probably going too far. I flicked the pages and learned that Elle McPherson has married a billionaire, and is now happy for the first time in her life. WTF! I've seen the house where Prince George is staying, cosmetic surgery confessions of the rich and famous, and heaps more useless information. Now I remember why I don't do that very often!
ndgirl, I am wondering how the 3 valerian went. Did you get some sleep?
Off to bed now...take care everyone...M x
0 -
Well I think the valarian worked somewhat, I dont feel so drugged this morn, did sleep more hours than usual but still awaked some in middle of night.. funny how awful thoughts show up then isnt it but then seem brighter the next morning. Hope it works again tonite, will try it.
I am getting ready for my 4 month checkup on Wed. 21st. Getting a little nervous I must admit, hope I remember to ask everything, I wrote down a bunch earlier and of course now cant find where I put the notebook!! house is a little dishevled after grandkids, but who care, still have the boys here, we will take them home when I go to appt. they only live a little over an hour from Mayo Clinic.
Gramwe, restless legs are a bummer, when I had them I found that taking calcium and magnesium in larger doses REALLY helped me and quite soon, also potassium helps too.
Well better get busy before the boys wake up.. love having them here, they lost their mom to bc and they lived across the street from us for 9 years so we were a big part of their lives and miss them so much, easy kids to have around too, we have a bunch of fun with them! taking them to Canada golfing later today! and tomorrow is my b. day told them the best present I could have is having them here with me!! may take a trip to the International Peace Gardens with them.

Tomorrow is your bday?!?!
Let the celebrations officially commence.

Happy Birthday tomorrow!! With my attention span it will be gone from my mind if I wait.

Let me first say, Happy Birthday, ndgirl!!! Have a wonderful day with the grandsons!! Also glad you got some more sleep, hope it works again tonight.
Ahhhhh, I feel human again!! Visiting nurse was here this morning and after the interminable list of forms to fill out for first visit, I finally had my shower! It felt sooooo good!! That "hospital yuk" feeling is finally gone!
I have to say, I really could not have done that without her help. I'm exhausted now, and it would only have been worse on my own. First to get the ace bandage wrap off with my limited movement ability right now, would have really hurt and there is no way in he11 I could have put it back on properly!
Still haven't figured out how to manage drains, wasn't happy with lanyards... They will come twice a week to help me and I am down for 40 visits. I doubt will need that many. Don't see any need for them after the ace comes off permanently. My friend the nurse will fill in on the gap days between the vn visits.
The VN said I was really right to fight to get them, I really needed the help. She said I should tell my BS so too. I suppose people that live with someone else can do it w/out help, but I live alone and do have a modicum of modesty about asking friends to help me shower & wrap my chest! I see BS on the 22nd, I do hope the ace will be gone then and maybe a couple drains too! Another bonus is the physical therapist will come to me if I need any. My other one for my back I have to drive 35 minutes to get there.
I think I experienced The Claw today. The vn supervised me emptying my drains and I got this huge pain in the chest where my nipple would have been. It was like something reached over my shoulder and stuck its long jagged claws in my chest! Yikes! It happened after the shower once too. It rather alarmed the nurse as I kind of crumpled a bit from the shock of it. But I told her about "The Claw" and how others had described it. And when I realized what it probably was, I wasn't as alarmed as I had been at first.
Thank you again ladies for forewarning me of this event!!
Idesim, there is no way I would ever try to brush my cat's teeth!! I like my fingers too much. He would be all claws and fangs and I would pull back a bloody stump!! It is hard enough to get him to sit for brushing.
Ariom, the magazines sound fun. Wish I could sit outside, but it is a bit on the warm side for me and the air is filled with smoke from fires so not a good thing to breathe. But I am relaxing in the recliner and sooo ready to take a nap!
gramwe, I thought those emails that they send each week on the baby's developement were awesome. My DD forwarded the ones they got as DGD was growing. So cool! I've got a stuffed bear my DD sent me that plays Jax's heart beat while she was still inside her DLLP uterus. It totally freaks my cat out to hear it. Such neat things they do these days!!
Can't write any more for now....must nap.

ndgirl, Happy Birthday! I hope you have a sensation day, with lots of love, and some presents!
Ilove it when you say "We're going golfing in Canada!" I hope it is a glorious day and you have lots of fun with the boys.
Fingers crossed for the Valerian to work for you again. Baby steps, with the new sleep herb, Colin tells me, he took Valerian when he had sleep issues many years ago because of his ex wife, and he never looked back. He sleeps heavily like me now, so this may just do it for you.
Take care and have day to remember! Hugs M x

gB, you are soing so well, I am so pleased for you. Isn't the shower just the best? I am sorry that you have had to experience "The Claw", but I guess it comes to us all. I had no idea what it was the first time I felt it either, but "The Claw" was my only way to describe it to anyone, and that has stuck, because we can all relate! The great news is, it does get better, and mine is now a shadow of its former self!
I understand the need for a nap. I found I would be fine, and then I'd "hit the wall!" when I felt a nap coming on, there was no way to stop it. Don't fight it, the body heals when we sleep, and if you're like me you'll feel great when you wake, at least till the next nap time comes along. Sorry there are fires, and it is too hot to be outside.
I wish I could pass on my magazines to you gB for some light entertainment in th recliner. I am going to a big yard sale this morning. The day has started with bright sunshine and still water, so hopefully it will remain this way for the day.
I'll be back to see how everyone is doing after my yard sale.....take care M x

What a day! It has been like summer here!
I went to the yard sale, nothing of interest, and the opp shops. I bought a retro, electric cake mixer with dough hooks, and then went to the farmers Market. This is a smaller one than the one last weekend. It is just local produce, I ended up standing chatting with the couple I buy my spices from for an hour, lovely couple. I have some new spices for the Tagine, and a home made rhubarb cake. I will chill a can of coconut cream, take the cream off the top and whip it, and serve with warmed cake!
Colin and I decided to go into town for lunch, and for me to buy lots more soups for Colin from Aldi. He is very taken with the Thai range of Red, Green and Yellow Curry with veg. It is very nice but a tad hot for me right now.
I bought a n electric knife sharpener from Aldi, so tomorrow the knives will be out! I hate dull knives, but also hate doing them with a steel.
I have Orchids coming out, and the first of my white lilies have just flowered. There a Wild Freesias popping up everywhere, and I picked a bunch of Violets the other morning....ahh Spring is upon us! I just love it. We have been so lucky that this has been a mild Winter. I hope it won't be a scorching Summer, but we'll just have to wait and see. The F Mozzies are starting to appear too, there is always a damn negative to create balance, in't there?
I hope you are all sleeping soundly...I may catch you as you get up, later. Take care everyone....M x

Well I am not sleeping again, dang it! But Ariom, your spring flowers sound just beautiful! the freesia must smell divine. Also, are you able to grow rhubarb in Austrailia? we have plenty growing wild here, thought it must need a cooler climate, and orchids, so jealous! You must be a wonderful cook and a bit exotic chef! We are pretty basic here.
Thank you all for the nice birthday wishes, you know time is a gift and now especially so with this dreaded disease we all have. Enjoyed our 18 holes of golf with kids, it was wonderful warm weather but like you Ariom, the skeeters are out in full force. I am scared of West Nile disease from them, a man in one of our larger cities in ND just died from it, and a Canadian friend's has a nephew that got it a few years back, 15 years old, star hockey player and is now a parapalegic, it is scary. I do not like marinating myself with repellent but what other choice do we have? chemicals or disease?
So glad to hear GB is doing well, I knew she would, but still she needs some help and glad she is getting it!
Well back to bed to try again for some needed sleep! Valerian isnt doing the job tonite. Not sure what is on the agenda for tomorrow but it will be good, gonna miss these boys when we take them back! looking forward to going to their home but hate that part of a vacation has to be spent doing dr. appts.

Hi ndgirl, I hope you had a lovely Birthday with the family!
I also hate the chemicals for the Mozzies, but Ross River virus is the fear here. I have several different kinds of protection. The heavyweight DEET, then there is the lighter version, and I also have the organic essential oils version that I wish worked as well as the DEET. I do burn pure citronella in an oil burner too.
Our neighbor buys the big industrial spray and the three houses on this side put in for the cost and he blasts each garden. Apparently it works for the whole season, we didn't need it last year, but if we do need it this year I will just disappear while he sprays, and hope for the best.
I hope you can get off to sleep again.
Enjoy the rest of your time with the boys.....M x
Edited to say!!
No no no! I am about the furthest from an exotic cook. I hate cooking, but I do enjoy eating.
The things I make are so quick and easy. I know the Tagine sounds exotic, but it is just vegetables, with ready mixed, most of th time, spices, and meat if you want it. The biggest part is cutting the veg! The Tagine cooks to perfection on the stove top, very slow and healthful. My soups are quick, full of veg, and a few herbs.
There was a time, in the 70's when I was one of those women who had a dinner party every week, four courses weren't a problem. I loved to have company over, and never bothered about the work involved, even though I was the only one of my group of friends with a child. One by one my friends started to have their children and the dinner parties became few and far between. I found simple recipes, and embraced the asian style with everything cooked in a wok. I still love that easy health food. It isn't difficult in the slightest, and one pan that doesn't even get washed, but wiped out and seasoned for next time.
Chat soon...M x

Ndgirl. Happy birthday. Hope you found the gift of sleep even for a little while. Have fun with those boys!
Goodnight Ariom. You make me want to go to Aldi so bad. I wonder if we have those soups here too. Would make my husband so happy. We mainly have kid food or something quick and easy on the stomach. Not hearty, spicy man food. I have been thinking about chicken stir fry and DH loves to chop veg but he gets home so late with the baby. She's ready to eat, bath and bed. Only two more weeks or less of that. I've decided to move her to the end of the road. About 10 min away.
Only have 4 more weeks of feeling yucky I hope. My last treatment of the current regimine will be 9/5. The onc said maybe 4 weeks of taxerole (I think that's the right one) after that but I'm hoping for a clean scan and no more chemo. Is that unrealistic?
I pushed for two more of what I got since it had done such a great job and the side effects are somewhat tolerable and so far no signs of the rusks. I got behind on my meds yesterday and wasn't up to much. Tomorrow is my low day. Once I get past that, it should be small improvement each day. He didn't seem much concerned about my rash or fatigue. I may try a b12 supplement on my own. I don't want to lay in this bed forever! I'm thinking about a recliner.
I'm glad to see everyone posting again. We missed you guys. The 21st is going to be busy with Ndgirl and Granwe appts. Just jostle gently, my stomach is still iffy then but I have JS on the 20th so maybe not. I'll be packing green ginger tea with a lid!0 -
GrammaB. The next gift of strange sensations in this journey will be your breastbone will be tender. Probably won't happen until your bandage is off and maybe not until your off the big guns. I still can't stand the placket of my night gown where it buttons to touch it so I hike the gown up while I'm in bed so its just fabric. You have to remember our breastbone hasn't had anything touch it since we were little girls! Not anything as alarming. My claw was by my drain hole. Felt like the cat hanging off the screen door. I rarely feel it now unless I've overdone it and its not as strong. That's probably why you felt it twice. Bandages off and a shower! You will be amazed how much difference there will be by week three. Hang in there!

GrammaB. I love my boomerang pillow from JCPenney. It was ordered on Wed and arrived yesterday! It's on sale and I think there's coupons. It comes with a carrying case and a pillow case. Is very comfortable in the bed and in the couch.
0 -
I think I want a boomerang pillow! That sounds so good. I have no idea what they look like! Z, you could sell boomerang pillows.
Neck-deep in chores, childcare, prepping for the visit with their grandparents. Will report in later!
0 -
It's the American version of M's v pillow. I think it's funny it's called a boomerang pillow here. Didn't boomerangs originate from Australia? And yes it's awesome!
0 -
Hello Zills! I am so happy fo you! I can feel you getting stronger from the good news, and finding the childcare so close to home will be so much better for all of you! Another few weeks and you won't know yourself.
Unrealistic? F no, it's as it should be! You'll get there, absolutely!
Aldi is so good, but so is Costco, for the interesting food things. Do you have one of them nearby? Seriously, a chicken stirfry is so easy, cooks in minutes, and only needs some Honey some Soy or Tamari sauce, a little Ginger and a little Garlic to be fabulous. Does your supermarket do the ready cut stir fry veg? That makes it even faster.
I am so glad you like your "V" pillow, or boomerang! I just don't know how I would have survived without mine, it is such a great support shape. Mine has gone through a lot, with being shoved about, pulled apart, laid on and hugged. It's getting a bit limp now,it's like a kids blankie to me! It was worth every penny.......Take care...M x

Bobo, I knew you'd be busy getting the children ready for the visit. Are they excited?
You must get a pillow they are the classic "V" shape, or boomerang, you can curve them around you, lie on one arm of the V, turn upside down and have the two arms down both sides to support you, they are so comfy.
I am off to bed now, had a great day, hoping tomorrow will be similar....Have a wonderful day!
M x

Posting at the same time Zills, yes it is funny that we don't know them as a boomerang pillow here. But I agree they are just fantastic for what we need them for. M x

No precut veg for me due to possible contamination issues. Everything must be washed, peeled, chopped and cooked by me. Not sure how long after chemo have to keep that up.
