    Hi Ladies,

I've been MIA lately ... just really busy. Tank is doing well, but still acting weird and it's been four months since Maggie died. I found a blue heeler/aussie shepherd mix "Dottie" at the Humane Society down in NC. My mom and I went to see her yesterday. She's the sweetest girl ever and has a wonderful personality. I'm just still a little nervous about getting another dog. Poor Dottie ... she's been stuck in a cage in this ramshackle backwoods shelter for the last two months. She's about 1 1/2 years old and 40 lbs. The adoption fee is only $125. I've been emailing back and forth with the lady in charge down there and I'm hoping we can get everything worked out and I can go get her sometime next week. She's very bouncy and full of energy. Maybe she can perk Tank up a little.

I LOVE Aussies!!! Was owned by one for 14 1/2 years. Very high energy, a mix should be a bit more calm. Pretty girl, hope you get her.

Bren, she looks like a wonderful addition. Hope things work out!

It has been 8 months since my Tigger died and Dozer is wonderful, but finding I'm still missing my Tiggy... Maybe its just the emotions after my revision surgery and the heat (gonna be 107 today) I am feeling this week. I kinda knew Dozer wouldn't fill that void, but he will make his own spot in my heart.

    RIP Tigger

Looks like Dozer is saying in the picture: "not now Mom! I just want to lay about in the sun"

The last three mornings have been really cute upon waking up. I not only have Jackson laying his head on my feet, but Princess has taken to doing this as well. This morning I woke up to their heads my feet and they had placed one of their paws on my feet.

Vulfie has been gone almost 6 years, I still cry for him. He left a big hole in my heart.

My eldest boy Charcoal will have been gone one year in Nov. Even though I have Princess and Jackson, I'll always miss Charcoal. He was the first furbaby we had in our home.

Bren, Dottie is beautiful. What a great addition to your family she would be!!

A new dog/cat can never replace the love we feel in our hearts, but they sure can carve their own special place.

Hugs to all that are missing their pets.

GmaFoley ... know how you feel about Tigger. Dozer is adorable but he's a different dog. I still miss my Maggie. And you're right about this godawful heat ... sucks the life right out of you. I miss the San Diego weather so much. The humidity here in the south can be suffocating!

Still trying to figure out when I can get down to pick up Dottie. Might not be until next week sometime. My sis said she would go with me ... so that's great. I would love the company. My heart goes out to the Humane Society down there. It's in a very poor area and in a rundown ramshackle building. It will be good to get Dottie home and out of her cage.

    hugs to all,

    Bren

Right after my husband and I got married we started looking for a puppy. We found a farmer with a litter and was asking for $25 a piece. I asked my husband to call the farmer and if he had any puppies left to go pick one out. Wellll... leave it to a man... he calls me at work mid afternoon and says, "your are going to kill me..." I asked him, what did you do. His response, I couldn't help it... I got two! OMG! I could have killed him. That night he tells me I am lucky he didn't take them all.... Best decision he could have made. They were great dogs.

Fast forward 7 years, and one of the "boys" got this terrible sore on his side. Turned out to be cancer and we made the very painful decision to put him down. I cried for weeks. His brother sulked with me...

Fast forward 5 more years and I am dx with BC. The puppy my hubby brought home is now my old guy. My old guy would stay up every night with me when I couldn't sleep and just put his head in my lap. Always watching over me. I made him promise me that he would stay with me until I was better. That I couldn't deal with his loss and bc and all that... and then I would tell him, AND you have to be better than your brother, just lay down and go to sleep. Please don't make me have to decide when your time comes....

In February, I lost my mind at the pet store and bought an 8 week old miniature pinscher... I know, I know... puppy mill enabler and all that other horrible stuff. I don't know what I was thinking. I really wasn't at that moment thinking at all. All I know is this little 3 pound baby got in my arms, and licked my face like it was meant to be. And so... home he came in my jacket...

    image

The old guy was a little apprehensive at first. But then he warmed up to the little guy. I mean, who could possibly not love this little face.... aka Zeusimage

    These guys became fast friends

    Travel Companions

    And camping buddies

And of course looking out for me,

Two months ago, Samson, my old guy, held up his end of the bargain we made late at night as I was going thru treatment. He laid down in the kitchen and never woke up. I know he and God both knew the time was right, and I would be ok, but I miss him. A lot! The little dude, 8 months old tomorrow, is a handful and is helping me get on with life and recovery. He makes me smile and keeps me busy - that is for sure. I guess the point to my post, not only am I missing the big, old guy, but to also share the power of our pets to our healing. Both Samson and now Zeus have "healed" me and helped me thru this crazy BC trip. No amount of money could buy the therapy they have provided. Sorry for the looooong post, but it was therapeutic for me to share and go thru old pictures.

Best wishes to all who are looking for a new fur-baby and prayers to those who are mourning the loss of a fur-baby.

Swore I heard Charcoal running around the house today. Couldn't have been Jackson as he don't have a bell on his collar and it sure wasn't  Princess as she was sound asleep near my feet. My sweet "angel kitty" was probably just checking on on mommy and his siblings

Notice the sneaker on the end table...........Finn loves shoes of any kind.............we laugh cause he find them, and then runs in and shows you...as if to say "see I found another shoe, now try to get it off of me"........we have shoes in "high places" everywhere......I had just taken that sneaker off of him.............LO

glad to hear that Ducky.  Hopefully the meds can keep the seizures under control so that she only has one once in a great while.

    Hi,

I am new here, but my husband got me a rescue beagle to celebrate the half way point of radiation. Her name is Bailey, she is 7. I have had her for 2 days and she is settling in nicely.

    Cheers!
