can you take him where other dogs are to see his reaction? Dog park, pet stores?

Gma: you might want to consult a trainer. Dozer is high energy,, so seems like you would want a dog that could match his energy level. Doesn't have to be the same size,, but you would want a rough and tumble kind of dog, that could match his energy and not get squashed if play is rough.

Thanks - he just needs someone to play with, being my energy level can't keep up with him. I think we are going to Fix and expand the back fence on our property to give him enough room to run and play without going out front on the pulley cable. Hoping we can get enough money to do it.

I had hopes my two would play. They don't. They may chase a squirrel together but this is much more imagetypical.

Dozer used to play tug with another dog after he was rescued. So I have hopes but he will be involved with the decision.

Yes, Gma,, you want to get a dog that will play with Dozer, and work off that energy! When I watch Pit Bulls and Parolees, I see how they match up one of their dogs to the owners' existing dogs,, to make sure they will be a good fit. So try to find a group, that will work with you that way. Foster for a weekend,,, see how they get along,, a trial period with the understanding that you can bring the dog back if they really don't get along.

    Glennie, I love that show!!

GMA, I got a friend for my dog Jax. They didn't like each other at the beginning, but now they are inseparable. They play all day like a bunch of kids. It's been really good for Jax and the rescue, Murphy.

    Spookie, Chillaxing dogs. Too cute!!

After the chemo, the rads, multiple surgeries, etc... I went into a slump. On a whim, I found this little guy at the local mall pet store. I couldn't leave him. BEST mid-life crisis EVER!!! I don't know what I would do without him. He makes me laugh and smile all the time. BEST BEST best cure for a down day!!image

And here he is now - all grown up and so big in his car seat :)

And of course, snuggling with his Mommy:

awwwww yes so true. I was in chemo, didn't feel up to giving Spookie a bath. DH wouldn't do it. Took her to groomer, who asked if I'd seen her foster. Three days later we had Kris. I did wonder WHAT WAS I THINKING to get another dog when I felt sooooo crappy. I had to focus more on him than how I felt. It really helped me. He is a very good boy.

Love your car seat btw. Spookie has one. imageHe really had fun that day. That's Spookie, she didn't play with him.

I miss Tigger so much, it was hard to let Dozer take one of Tigger's old toys but when I found him in the same position with the same toy, it was a precious, bittersweet moment. First stuffed animal he hasn't torn to shreds!

In some way, Dozer not tearing up the toy tells me that some part of Tigger told him not to.. I don't believe in that type of thought, but this seems real spooky.. Any stuffed animal given to Dozer has been shredded within 2 minutes.. And then finding him bringing it to bed and laying almost exactly like Tigger did with that toy...... hmmm.

Might have been Tigger's way of telling Dozer that it's his turn to watch over you

Princess has become a bit of an oddball recently. She has taken to laying on the cast iron radiator in the living room whether it has clothes drying on it or not. Never seen a cat do this before.

She is a sweetheart............I had a sweet Boston terrier that I rescued.....as she got older she became blind, deaf, and had dementia......I kept her as long as I could......and so wish I had her today.

The only reason I don''t get my own dog is it would be a problem with going to the shore homes of my kids.....some already have dogs, some say "no dogs", so I decided it was not a good idea.....plus at 80......it could outlive me......LOL..........but Snicker's is sweet, and I do enjoy her...........
