    Cindy- awesome picture!!

June 6th is my birthday!! I'll be 39!

May 17 sounds good to me. My hysterectomy is on the 19th so it would be great to see you ladies before I'm homebound for a while. What area are y'all thinking? I don't think I can drive to Salado, but central/south Austin I can do.

Hi, everyone! May 17th should work for me. My baby (ok, he's 18) is flying with his school group to Ecuador that morning. Lucky kid. So I can definitely travel north or south on I35!

I've been reading your posts and thinking about y'all. I have been a Debbie Downer, slogging through, but happy now that I am done with the slash/poison/burn part of the treatment. Finished rads this week! The rad therapists tossed confetti on me as I left the treatment vault. One apologized that the confetti was still in my hair after I dressed. I told her I was happy to have hair for it to stick to! Rads treated me pretty well. No broken skin or peeling. This weekend has been the worst of it - burned, rash, sore - the usual. Wine and/or Ibupforen has been enough pain killer for me. I'm spending the weekend at home slathered in Aquaphor. Yuck.

Starting Arimidex this week after my breast heals some more. I had bone density test last week and they have my results from 2 years ago to compare. Follow up appts with MO and RO next month where I will make sure I leave with my personal Survival plan. What now????? The easy Yoga class I had to drop starts up next weekend; I'm seeing a nutritionist this week (insurance paid!) who works with post-chemo patients and starting the Livestrong class at my YMCA in May. Time to breath and enjoy my life.

Terri - Congrats on your clear mammo. We will have to discuss heterogeneously dense breasts - we are sisters! My RO says the latest info looks like the standard of care is moving away from digital mammo to 3D. I cant look back. Hooray for grandbaby #6! Emery Rhyan! The photo of her with the bow is breathtaking. Need newer photos, please! Also, any word on the genetics test from your mom? My mom had breast cancer, and I tested neg for BRCA. Certainly looks like they will find other genetic links - pray they do for our own daughters, sisters, and nieces and every other girl-child.

Candy - How are you doing? Glad you are enjoying the blues and other wildflowers this Spring. Looking forward to meeting you!

Vicki - or should we call you Ned? How exciting! CFR sounds like a great way to celebrate. I am envious, but I'm not giving up. Look forward to hearing about it, hopefully in person.

Holli - geez, girl, stay away from hospitals! Everything you are going through, yet you still teach us and finish off with the great cards! Dr. Tierney (aka Doogie Howser) sends his best! You were right - he has been good to me, and so have his staff. I took them Easter candy, but am going to write a glowing letter to Texas Oncology about them. You are right - exercise and eating healthy should be a given, but it is a new job for me. We will get to where it comes naturally, right?

Cindy - It sounds like you are taking care of yourself - I'm glad. But you keep on leaning! The Easter nap photo was a big hit with my family. I miss my Abby!! I'm relieved for you that your DH's full honors service went well and is done. My mom and dad are buried at Ft. Sam Houston Natl. Cemetery. My daddy's ceremony was so moving and respectful. But so hard - I'm sorry and glad you will be back in time for some wildflowers!

Jeni - I'm ashamed of what a slug I've become without Abby to drag me on walks, and here you are driving across Texas (I hate what has happened to that part of the Hill Country, too) to stay healthy. You are inspiring. The concerts sound great. I'm waiting to see the Stones schedule for Texas. Probably Dallas and Houston. My DS reminds me I promised I would take him to see them if they toured again while he lived at home! I saw The Who twice. Once on their so-called final tour! You make me feel young again -

Newbies - meet us in May!

    Hi Ladies!

I'm back! Had a great time at CFR! Such a fun, yet emotional, time. Many of the women touched my heart, one of which is Marie. She could really use your words of wisdom and encouragement, as there is very little to no support in her area. So....I invited her to "stop in" and say hello. I wished she lived closer so she can join us in May. Hoping I can see her again this summer during the CFR reunion.

    How is everyone?

Linda - nice hearing from you. Congrats on finishing up the rads!

Cindy - you home yet? How does May 17th sound?

Candy - drains should be out. Thinking of you as you move on to Phase II! You got this girl! Hope you are feeling up to joining us on the 17th.

Chaos - so sorry you didn't get the call for CFR. Sign up again! You will love it! How are things?

Holli - How are the lungs? Continued prayers for you and your family. Packing for Hawaii yet?

Jen - So grateful to you and all you do, for me and for all of us. Always there to help! Miss you!

Kelsey - hoping you are moving on with your life and things are well. Stop in and say "Hi"

Terri - Are you having fun with the new grandbaby? More pictures please!

I apologize if I left anyone out! Where on the 17th? Central, North, South, East, West? Weigh in ladies! Who can make it on May 17th? That will help us determine the area. Can't wait!!

I will write more about CFR later. Meanwhile, here are few pictures to pique your interest:

Linda, So good to hear from you and glad you are done with rads. I was doing mine at this time last yr. Sounds like you are moving on with strength and resilience! You go girl!!! One day at a time... My Mom's genetic test showed an NBN gene (nibrin) with a variant "of uncertain significance". The variant poses a risk factor for anemia, A.L.L. Leukemia and cancer overall (UGH).I am going to share it with my MO in June and see if they found the same in my tests or if they even did that one. Luckily, no BRCA or PALB2 genes, but there is so much that researchers don't know yet about the genetics of cancer. Anyway, I'm glad to have the info. And, I'm glad to have the 3D mammos also! Treatment and testing have come a long way, but wow, what a long way still to go!

Vicki, love the pics! So glad you had a good time!

I am open to wherever on the 17th; please chime in ladies, so we can make a plan. We went South last time, so we may go farther North or Central this time, to make it easier for the Northern ladies, if they decide to come. Hope to see some of you newbies!!

Marie, you are always welcome here:).

hello ladies...sorry I ahve been a bit MIA. Just busy with dr appt and getting back to work. Got my drains out 2 weeks after BMX which was a Thursday and bought my first set of foobs and mastectomy bra that weekend. I ended up at petticoat fair in Austin and rachel (my fitter) made the experience so wonderful. My day started out pretty dark and she brightened it up. I even bought a bathing suit in anticipation of our July trip to see my brother and sis in law in NC. They live class to the beach and I hope to sit on the sand - under a shade umbrella of course. Met with PT yesterday to discuss lymphadema. No issues thus far but want to be preparedwhile I go through radiation. Also wanted to be sure I am doing my range of motion exercises correctly. It is amazing how limited my range was after surgery but I have gotten a lot more motion back. It still pulls when I raise my arms up but I keep doing my exercises. I met with my RO last week and went in for my CAT scan mapping today. Got tattooed and am scheduled to start my 30 treatments on 4/29. going to try and enjoy these next two weeks that I don't have to do any treatments. Went back to work the Monday following drain removal and so far no problems. I was pretty tired the first day, but that was probably because I got used to leisurely mornings in bed, LOL. Sunday, May 17th works for me. Hoping to see all of you again and meet some of the other central Texas ladies. You ALL have been a blessing in my life and I am and will forever be grateful for your encouragement, advice and support. Cindy - I think of you often and hope to see you in may. Vicki - loved your pics - looks like a beautiful place. Terri - thanks for always checking on me and hope you are enjoying that new grand baby. Jen - hope you are doing okay and will be able to come in may. Wishing everyone a good week - sending out hugs and love, Candy

    Hey all!

Cindy ~ I too can't believe it has been a month for you as well.  Glad to see you holding up though.

Vicki ~ Looks like you had lots of fun based on the pictures.  I had a chance to be an alternate but due to the move didn't want to sign up for something I may not make.

Terri ~ How are the grand kids treating you?  Hope you have gotten lots of hugs and snuggles with them.

Everyone else ~ Sorry been so super busy to check in often.

As for me I am surviving.  These long days with commutes and moving have been rough on me.  But we just have the bathrooms and kitchen left to clean of the rental and we will be out by the 24th.  It has been fun getting settled in the new house though.

On a crappy note I go in this Friday for another Ultrasound.  Funny though the guy making the appointment said "Oh I see you are scheduled for a Mammo/Ultrasound"  "Ummm no sorry just the ultrasound"  "But ma'am I heard that mammograms don't feel good but you have to get it"  That is when I went into hysterical laughter because I have nothing to squish in that evil machine.

Any who now that I got off topic the reason I am going in is because a new lump has been found and felt by my doc right next to where the original tumor was found.  Even though I have gone through the wringer with surgery, chemo and radiation there is still a chance it came back up.  The mammo scar has thickened right there where the lump is found.  Worried but know even if it is cancer again I will just toss LOTS more stronger chemo at it.  Being Triple Negative there was a chance this could happen.  We shall see what happens after Friday.

Oh, Kelsey! So sorry the doc found another lump. Sending positive thoughts that it is only scar tissue (I found one, too, where my node biopsy was done.....scar tissue. Whew!). Cancer sucks...and a recurrence sucks! But, on a positive note (can there be a positive note?), a local recurrence is FAR better than a distant recurrence. Hang in there. Think happy things!

Hope you don't have to use your shirt again

    Hi Yall

Headed to Denver next week for a few days with my sister. Hunter will be boarded...yikes! Going to LE PT to get the extra fluid out...grr. Plan to do some shopping tomorrow & lunch out...still going in for those $30 1 hour massages so nice...prro.

Vic - I'll join you at the CFR reunion! Looks like a fun event.

Candy - yeah! Make a countdown and give yourself treats each week:)

    Linda - thanks, leaning ...

    Terri - pics seriously please!

Sherry - good to hear from you...we missed each other at CFR last year maybe this year:)

Well, I'm holding not sure when my son will be able to help drive me out....but if I can 5/17 is good!

Well Vicki this has grown.  I know I really hope I don't have to use the shirt again but I kept it for when I get the reconstruction.  I hope that is when I get to use it.

    Kelsey -

$%*#(%*#)%*#()%$*$)!! Okay, had to get that out.

Know that we are with you every step of the way. If you have to do surgery or even chemo again, let us know how we can help. Meals for the family? Maid service to help out? Books or great chick flicks for you? You name it....let us know what you need We are here for you....always!!

Much love and hugs heading your way!

sherry, would love to meet you! Where did you move? Please try to come sometime.

Cindy, so good to hear from you. I hope your PT gets rid of that LE! Praying that your sons' schedule will work for you. It feels like forever since we've seen you. I want to give you a REAL hug!

Candy, if you have questions about rads that I can help you with, let me know. One year ago I was where you are....a lifetime ago and yesterday. How can that be? You are on the downhill run.

Kelsey, oh, please let it be scar tissue! I so hate that you are going through this again. Ditto on what Vicki said. We are here for you! Will be in your pockets on Friday. What time do you go in?

    Jen', are you out there?

    Holli, how are you doing?

jlow, can you make our meet-up?

Vicki, I would've probably been able to meet you in Buda with a little more notice. Sounds like fun.

I am finally taking my MO's advice and calling an Endocrinologist tomorrow to make an appt for my Osteoporosis, low D and possible Thyroid issues/weight gain. Anybody have any recommendations? I know I should've done it sooner, but I think I was just too over-whelmed.

    ((HUGS))

Vicki ~ Thanks so much.  So far hopefully nothing will be needed.

Terri ~ The appointment is at 915.  I will go into work with the van pool then take the van over to my appointment.  I didn't worry too much when I first found it two weeks before my follow up appointment with the MO but when she spent about 15 mins feeling me up and looking so serious I got worried.  Of course she said it is probably just a fatty mass of some sort but she wanted to be sure.  She definitely felt it as something different than the scar lip itself.

I think just mentioning it to my parents was hard but we always made a deal with each other to tell us before the serious stuff happens so not to get caught off guard.  Only really have told you guys my parents and of course the hubby and kids.  I haven't mentioned it at work at all or nothing.  Kinda like last time.  Find it get it checked right away to get the bad news.  Really hope it isn't bad news.  I did also tell my MO that if the ultrasound tech says I have to get a biopsy she better expect me to show up bawling at her office.  And I wonder how truthful they will be with me.  Last time I had to wait FOREVER to find anything out.  I think this time I deserve quick results.  I would be willing to sit there for hours.

Okay done babbling for a while.  BTW it had been hard to keep up because I haven't found my keyboard for my tablet.  And my phone is just too small to type on.  Plus can't log on while on the work computer.  But I will keep the tablet and keyboard near by now that we are more settled in the house.

Cindy - CFR Reunion together - YES!! BTW - I don't cast well. On the lawn...no problems. In the creek? Different story altogether. Sigh!

Terri - Sorry! My son sent me the information last night (isn't he sweet), but I just decided this evening that I really want to go. I have been a martyr, working all day, then coming home and continue burning the midnight oil. Time for work/home/me balance.

Kelsey - Sending prayers and positive vibes your way.

Just a quick pop in. Lump could not be found on US so told it's fat. So plus. Now I should have no more Dr apts until Sept unless needed

  • keepthefaith
    keepthefaith Member Posts: 856

Kelsey, glad to hear the good news! I had a fatty something in 2009 and it kept growing, so I had it removed. I can't remember, but I think I ended up having an MRI with that one. I don't want to worry you, but the imaging tests look at our lumps in different ways and sometimes they are hard to detect. Mine was very symetrical, round and smooth, so my BS assured me it was fatty and it was, thank goodness! Mine was close to my skin, so it drove me crazy, being aware of it all of the time. The Dr that ended up taking it out was not my BS, but he told me the only way to know for sure, is to excise it...he thought it was benign, too. A second opinion never hurts.

I have to share something funny:

My DD texted me today saying that her (almost) 3 yr old son wanted to hold his little sister. My daughter told him, "you can't right now, I am feeding her". She breast feeds. So, he goes over to her, pulls up his shirt and says "Boo boo feed her". Boo boo is his nickname. I had visions of this happening and couldn't stop laughing! Arent' kids are wonderful?!!!

    Enjoy your week-ends, ladies!

  • shewolfpg
    shewolfpg Member Posts: 73

Oh I will continue to monitor it. If it changes I will demand more tests. The doc even gave me the wand to try to find the lump but nope. Not to be found.

    awesome pics Vickie!!

Here is an update from my blog...

    Mammogram oh mammogram...

posted by Holli on Friday, April 17, 2015

I didn't share this with too many of you. But I went for a mammogram today. It's kind of ironic since I don't really have breast tissue. But I felt a couple of lumps and needed to have them checked out.

One lump is probably a cyst. The other is probably scar tissue. But there was a blip on the mammogram that was very small but they aren't sure what it is. More than likely scar tissue or a calcification. But I go for another mammogram in six months to be sure that nothing has changed. They want to follow it...

So not the very best news...but certainly not the worst news either.

I guess I was more nervous about it than I thought. My stomach has hurt all morning. My appointment was at 11:30. And I am just now leaving it being 2 o'clock. They had to do a mammogram and an ultrasound.

It was hard not to have flashbacks from October 2013. Now I'm just exhausted. I guess all the adrenaline is leaving.

So now I wait for my oncologist call me. To see if he wants to follow a different plan than what the radiologist recommended. Edit

    Hi all -

Kelsey - Whoop!! Great news! The best! Mine was fluid encapsulated by scar tissue. I finally had them aspirate it cuz it drove me nuts. Anyway, happy you are saving the shirt for reconstruction!

Cindy - Nice to "see" you again!

Terri - loved the story! Sooo cute!

Holli - I met someone last night who knows you. Her name is Amanda. I think you go to the same church. Anyway, we were at creative escapes together.

Went to Creative Escapes last night. Here is what I was suppose to paint:

    image

Here is how mine turned out (my friend calls it a flutterfly):

    image

Rav is a family nickname (short for Ravishing).

Anyway, I had a good time, regardless of the outcome. BTW - It's okay to laugh. Not laughing yet? Picture this: ten to twelve women lined up for a picture, all holding their paintings. All of the paintings look like picture #1 with a few variations in color...except for one. That would be mine. I can't wait until they post the picture on facebook. It has to be hilarious!

    Hi Ladies!

There are several companies around the area that do the "Art" thing.  In Round Rock, it's Painting with a Twist.  Anyway, I am thinking this may be a fun thing for us to do as a group.  Cost is $35 - $40 per person.  Many are bring your own drinks, snacks, etc. Anyone interested?  Maybe they will give us a discount if we can get enough people interested.

BTW - I suck at drawing and painting, as you can tell from my first endeavor.  However, I had a blast.

Let me know if you would be interested.  I think it would be a good time for all!

    Hi ladies!

Y'all sure have been quiet lately...I hope everyone is doing well. I know sometimes we need a break from here!

    Vicki, I think that's a great idea...

Holli, what did MO say? I hope all is well.

Are we still on for May 17th? Roll call... any ideas for a meeting place?
