    Hi all -

It was great to see Terri, Candy, and Cindy today. I enjoyed meeting Bonnie, Mary Kay, and Cindy's CA friend, Ginger. Mary Kay had the waitress take a picture of the gang so we will share soon.

Over the next few weeks I will be researching possibilities for a fall weekend retreat for the gang. The log cabin place in the Burnett area is great in that we can rent a huge house that will fit us all, has hiking trails, and is right on the water (I think we can rent canoes, boats, and possibly kayaks). There is one I had in mind that has a great fire pit out front and it's private, so we can have a nice cozy retreat.

I am also checking into things in the Bastrop area. If anyone has ideas, let me know. I want to get something out there soon so we can vote on the where and when. I really want to hit mid-September - warm enough to still enjoy the water and cooling off in the evenings. If any of you already have plans in September, let me know so we can avoid that weekend.

Can't wait to see everyone again!

y'all - it was awesome to meet each of you yesterday. You are an inspiration and I'm not just saying that. I feel like I can do what's before me after seeing all of you. Here's the picture.

Vicki (hope I spelled that right) I love your retreat idea. Hiking and being close the water in the fall sounds wonderful.

Candy I'd love to know where you got that wig and who styled for you

Toodles and hoe to see you all again

We are going to play the wait and see game with the tumor... nothing flared on the pet scan so we are pretty much hoping its harmless. Lymphedema in knee and ankle is gone now. I'd never thought you could have it in your legs either, but was told it can happen anywhere in your body its just not as common... there I go beating the odds again lol

All you ladies look great! We were supposed to have a cemetery decoration day for one of our rural cemeteries on y'alls meet up day... which becomes like a mini family reunion so I chose to go to it instead, only it was cancelled due to rain:-(

Chaos, so glad that you are doing better and for the not bad news! Hopefully, we can meet you soon.

A long week-end ahead. I will babysitting my DS's two kids all day Sat, Sat night and Sunday morning while they go to a wedding in Victoria...

My DD tells everyone that me keeping my GK's is like me having a PT job. I know they appreciate it and I love spending time with them.

Mary Kay, any news on your TX plan yet?

Cindy, thinking of you and hoping things are getting a little easier each day,

Kelsey, Jen, Linda, jlow, how is everyone?

I hope you all have a safe and wonderful week-end, doing whatever it is that you enjoy!

Keepthefaith, I don't post much but I read daily on how you ladies are doing. The get together sounded fun! I am doing well, waiting on the next step in reconstructive surgery. My husband has been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. We make a trip to Houston every two weeks for his treatment. Keeps us playing catch up with work and family!

Flooding in my neck of the woods, East Texas. Hope y'all are fairing better.

Jlow, thanks for the update! Always good to hear how everyone else is doing. I hope the next step of your recon goes well. I'm sure it's a very stressful time for you and your family. I hope they treat your husband well and he has many peaceful and pain free days ahead of him. I am guessing he is going to MDA? I have a friends' daughter being treated there now, for AML. We have had rain almost constantly for the past few wks, but, thankfully, nothing severe.

    Enjoy the week-end!

    great picture ladies

I am home from my hysterectomy. It ended up being open because my lungs (having radiation pneumonitis) weren't strong enough to handle the position needed for laparoscopic (head below heart).

My OB/GYN said my ovaries did not look post menapausal like they should have with my being on Lupron for almost a year. So I'm glad we made the decision to remove everything.

I'm sore (she cut me along my C-section scar) and tired. But I'm also very sad and depressed. I'm assuming because of the whole hormone, surgery, medication thing.

    Hi Y'all

Lunch was fun! So nice to meet up! Missed some though...

Jeni - yikes! Yes, these storms and sirens scary me:(. Give me an earthquake...

Holli - sore tired and done...your body mind spirit have been through so much. Give yourself time, a new loss, a new normal. Know that your strong faith will sustain you...glad in the Psalm so many cried out and He heard!

Chaos - ah, the wait and see...fingers&toes crossed. Sorry LE in knee leg compression.

Jlow - flooding...we need some time between storms to dry out and recoup! Stay safe.

    Terri - adjusting...so much paperwork

Is everyone ok after the weekend storms?

Shout out to all...keep losing post grr

    Hey ladies!

Sorry I have been MIA. I've been avoiding the boards, as I have been having some issues, and did not want to send myself into a hypochondriac stupor. (not that it worked...)

Anyhow, at least since I started chemo, I've had this tiny put persistent cough. Last November, I had a terrible case of bronchitis. After that, the cough became more bothersome, and I've started having issues catching my breath. I've also had this sharp pain crop up where rib #2 meets my sternum. I didn't want to have un-needed tests done, but since I started weight training, the breathing thing has gotten much worse (instead of better, which is what should be happening with consistent excersize.)

So made an apt and got an xray- nothing shows on my lungs, but that spot on my sternum- has a spot. Had a CT scan this morning to not only look at that, but also to take a closer look at my lungs as my ONC said i may have microscarring from chemo, or that the bronchitis may still be in my lungs. She also said it could be an auto-immune issue, as my family has pretty much every auto-immune disease under the sun and it can be activated by any kind of physical trauma.

Soooooo- the scan came back clear of any concerning spots! YAY! that means this pain/spot on my sternum is likely scar tissue. However, this means more testing for my lung function, because it really is interfering with my life. But, supposedly no mets, and I was so relieved that I had to lay down and cry for about an hour. I just got off work, and am exhausted.

Looking forward to driving to Dallas this weekend to see the Rolling Stones. I've never gotten to see them, and they are an absolute favorite of mine. Then have to hurry back home, then rush to San Antonio for my nephew's graduation party. I will miss the actual graduation as it is early in the day. No way for me to make it back on time. So proud of him though.

Cindy, glad you are back, we need to get together soon.

All of you- hope everyone is ok- sending you all my love and good thoughts.

Jen - so sorry you have been dealing with the lung issues and can certainly understand why you were worried - but so relieved they found nothing. Hope you can get some relief soon. I think of you often and hope we can chat and or visit again soon! The pool is finally open. Maybe we can do a warrior meetup at my house later this summer?? Anyone interested?

Just fnished my 25 "regular" treatments yesterday and start my 5 boosts today! I am so glad as I look like a cooked red lobster! But as red as my entire chest isthere are really just 3 places that are truly sore - mostly edges where the Bolus was. But the gels and aquaphor really are helping. Not much itchiness or peeling, but that may come later. And on top of all this I had a large absess on my bum which I had to have lanced yesterday! Can you say "ouchie"?!!!!! It hurt worse than anything - even my BMX! LOL. So I am having to take off a few full days off from work after all - but not due to rads - go figure. I guess getting cancer wasn't enough? I can only shake my head and laugh. So glad to start the boosts cause I know it will be over soon. Best to everyone still going through treatment - you are in my thoughts. Hugs, Candy

jen', wow, so glad you got good news from all of that!!! Smile I hope they can find and take care of the lung issue. Have fun at the concert!

Candy, it will be over soon. Whoo-hoo! OUCH is right! I'm always game for a meet-up. Maybe we should do a potluck or something....?

    Holli, hope you're feeling better.

Zelda, if you're watching, have fun and rock that show!

Vicki, do you have pics of Zelda's entries?

Cindy, I hope you are able to get the things done that you need to...

Here is a website I wanted to share from BCRC: www.theheartofcancer.org. They offer free yoga classes and other stuff.

    Have a great week-end, ladies!

WOW! After much waiting and rigamarole I finally got my OncotypeDX score and it was 0. So I get a pass on the chemo. Now just on to the outstanding mastectomy vs lumpectomy + rads question. Surgeon visit scheduled Jun 10.

I feel lighter than air right now. I need to remember what this feels like.

    Hi ladies!

I will post comments/questions to your recent posts.  But first I want to introduce you to our very own Art Bra Austin model and contributor, Anna Krina Leon, known to us as Zelda.  She will be walking the runway near the end of the show during the glamour section.  She will be dressed in a long black skirt, a red corset, and her bra over the corset.  She says it looks like she is wearing a sun dress.  She has a 1 PM call time for a 6 PM show.  She is excited but a little nervous.  Her family volunteered to be "bid runners" so they can be there to watch her walk the runway and support her.  Way to go, family!  Good luck, Zelda! Have fun!

Here is the write up in 30-days of Art Bra:

    image

This is Zelda Botha aka Anna Krina Leon

    image

This is her bra named "Queen Esther"

    A 1-year
survivor, Anna experienced a void in open conversation about breast cancer and
its treatment when she was diagnosed, particularly in her Christian community.
As a result, she is moved to encourage women to talk not only about breast
cancer, but their bodies and the importance of taking care of them. Anna was
inspired by the Biblical story of Esther, a woman who had the courage to stand
up for social justice. She used Duoplex fabric, foam, lace, a string of
pearls, decorative ribbon and decorative roses to create this gorgeous bra
    — all while going through intense cancer treatment! She dedicates this bra in
honor of her mother, also diagnosed with breast cancer, and her grandmother.
Anna will be modeling this bra under the name Zelda Botha, and created a second
Art bra titled “Hook ‘Em Horns” for another lucky model.

Gorgeous, Zelda. Thanks for posting, Vicki.

Mary Kay-you go girl!!! I don't think I have ever heard of a zero onco-score. Good for you!!!SillyHeart For what it's worth, LX and rads were pretty easy for me. I think I may have taken pain meds for one day with the LX, but the tumor was pretty deep. No drains for me. Rads-eh. It was a pain to have to drive every day for a month, but really wasn't too hard on me, otherwise. We are all different, but I hope whatever direction you chose, you will do well. I'm sure others can chime in on their experiences with MX, etc

Jen', I think you're right; an "old" soul in a young body!:) That's a good thing!

My oldest GS (6) has been wanting to stay over for a while. So, we have it planned for Sunday and Monday night! He'll keep me busy, no doubt.

    Ladies -

Blog bugs have eaten my posts four times in a row now before I was able to submit.  I am sure it is user error, so I keep trying.  Sigh...

Jumbledbamboo - Welcome!  You will meet the most caring, loving, sharing, supportive and inspiring women on these boards. How can we help?

Candy - congrats on making it to the home stretch!  I second Jen's response to a get together in your neck of the woods - POOL/SLUMBER PARTY AT CANDY"S!!!!!  Jen said it so well, I had to repeat!

Cindy - hope you and your baby are settling back in.  Still interested in the CFR reunion?  I have a work commitment the weekend of July 10, but I think the reunion is later in the month.

Chaos - Great news on the watch and wait!  How did you do with the flooding?  I know the Colorado surrounds La Grange on 3 sides.  Prayers your way that everyone stayed dry.

Holli - Glad that surgery is out of the way.  Hope you are resting, recouping, and enjoying those lovely kiddos.

Jen - So happy to hear from you.  I figured you were off on one of your adventures.  And you were.  Just not the type of adventure I had envisioned.  Sorry you had to go through the mental anguish waiting on the tests and the results.  Glad it all worked out.  Rock Out in Dallas!!

Jlow - Thoughts and prayers for you and your DH.  Let us know how we can help.  We rock at supporting each other around here Happy

Kelsey - How are treatments?  Up for a get together soon?  Drop in periodically and let us know how you are doing.

Linda - What's going on in your neck of the woods?  Hope to meet you soon.

MK - Congrats on the oncotype score!  I don't think you could ask for anything better than a zero!  It's great that you have choices on a MX or lumpectomy.  We have ladies here that have done both so ask away if you have questions.  My best advice?  Go with your gut - it will steer you right every time!I

Terri - I am sure you had a great time with the grandbabies and will have more fun this weekend.  Don't you love this part?  Pictures please!  Thanks for posting the yoga link!  Chubby here has gained 25 pounds in less than a year, so I am desperate to try different things.  Maybe I'll see you in class?

I am having a hard time just processing. It's easier to just do treatment and get through. I feel like I am being too passive, but what else can I do? I am stage IIB IDCS and they found more than one mass. The largest was 3.5. Nuclear grade III

    Jumbledbamboo -

It breaks my heart that (1) you even have a reason to be on this site and (2) you are in a place, emotionally, where we have all been at one point or another.  It sounds like you are still reeling from the diagnosis and subsequent treatment.  Hang in there!  It will get better.  Meanwhile, do what you can to take care of you.  When friends and family offer to help, let them!!  It's okay to be passive about your treatment plan as long as you have faith in your medical team.  If, however, you are uncomfortable with your team or members of your team, it may be time to check elsewhere.  Having a team you trust is crucial.  After all, you will be with these people for a long time.

Ladies, please weigh in... any more words of wisdom you can impart?
