I'm HOME!! Maui was incredible. I will share more later, but for now... This is something a camp participant (and new friend) just posted. I couldnt have said it better myself.
-Things I learned at camp from some of these crazy cool cats!
Anything is possible
Facing fear is a whole lot easier with friends by your side
You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf and surfing is so much fun!
Hugs are necessary
I could officially become a camper/beach bum
It's never to late in life to make new friendships that will last forever!
Teaching by example and through love touches ones soul.
Don't be afraid to have a naked dance party every morning with yourself!
Sleeping 10 feet away from the ocean, on a cot under the stars painted sky is much better than any 5star hotel
Listening and learning is better than speaking and teaching
The greatest power is the power of now. Be present, enjoy this moment.
Be happy! The way my camp mate says it was like "just be happy" I can hear her saying it like why would you be any other way?!
Be nice
Laughing is one of gods best medicines he gave us to heel.
Being brave does not always come with a warrior suit.
Be patient and thoughtful to those around you. You never know what battle they may be facing.
All fear is is False Evidence Appearing Real
We are all going to die someday, so instead of worrying about it live! Live and laugh everyday
Doing your best is a teacher to others and an example. Always do your best in everything you do.
Believe in yourself, your amazing!
Yoga and I need to become acquainted
Take "me" time and take it often
There are such good people in this world!
Find time and serve others
In helping others you will find your greatest success
Listen to your internal compass, it will never steer you wrong
Cancer does not discriminate anyone can have it at anytime. I had cancer, cancer doesn't have me!
Body images issues each and every one of us have dealt with. Remember you are beautiful, just the way you are right now.
Pranks are still just as funny now as they were when we were kids!
God hears and answers our prayers.
With a supportive group anything is possible!

Holli - great wise women! Glad you had a wonderful time:)
Vic - sounds like fun:)
Well I'm stuck:(. Son can't ride at all...grr his backup accepted another position and so no go. A gf says she will try around 5/16...ugh
Anyone game to fly out to Palm Springs and ride back with me this week? Seriously, I've got cabin fever. My dad said he would shoot me if I get in the ca and drive alone...be still and know that I am God, I did escape to Denver for a few days last week...fun...and Hunter did good at boarding.
Ok, enough complaints. Don't you think I could do it if I check in with my dad every 1-2 hours along the way?
Time to walk the dog.

Hi ladies-
sorry i have been off the radar. between work, working out, working on the house, and some much needed fun, i haven't been on the personal computer much.
Cindy- hope you can make it home soon. I know you are probably anxious to come home, but that is a LONG and lonely drive. Please wait till someone can make it with you.
I want to post this study- it is in San Marcos, and only requires a little effort. I did it and it was super easy:
can't make it on the 17th, but you ladies have a blast and take photos!
love you all!

Hi all -
It's been quiet on the boards lately. Hope everyone is doing well.
Please send up prayers and healing thoughts to my new friend Maria from Casting for Recovery. She is having her BMX in the morning.
Anyone keeping track of Art Bra submissions? Zelda created two and is modeling one - submitted as Anna Leon but modeling as Zelda. BCRC must be confused about that one. Anyway, the bra she is modeling is featured in the 30 days of Art Bra. Be sure to check it out!
Anyone still up for the 17th? I know Terri and I are game. Anyone else?

the 17th
What's the location?
0 -
Holli, I don't think we have decided on a location yet. I think we went South last time, but if some are coming from North and some from South, maybe we can meet in the middle...? Anybody have suggestions? I can offer a ride from up North if someone needs one.
Cindy, have a safe trip home. I hope we can see you on the 17th!
Vicki, thanks for the updates on everyone. Maria, I hope you recover well.
Candy, hope you can make it, too!
Linda, Kelsey, jlow, anyone else coming? Sorry if I missed someone, but everyone is welcome!

Hello, ladies! I am sad but I cant meet up on the 17th. DS is off to Ecuador and airport time has changed so I'll be hanging around airport on Sunday afternoon. If I cant go to Ecuador I sure wish I could be with you all.
I've been absent. Finished slash, poison and burn and had bone scan showing osteoporosis. Appt scheduled with endocrinologist. Started on Arimidex. Met with Survivorship Team at cancer center, and I have felt more down and hopeless since then. I'm climbing out of the hole, again. I have bone/muscle/joint aches like I have never had. Residual Taxol or Arimidex? Wait and see. I'm sure the endocrinologist will have something for me to take along with my calcium/vitamin D, exercise. ANyone else been here, yet?
I have been happy to have my calendar full of fun things like DS prom, his trip to Ecquador then high school graduation, end of leg session and DH around again, spa trip coming up with DD. I am grateful!
I hope you all get together and take photos. I'll miss you. Linda

Hey Linda -
Weighing in here. I suspect the new "pain" may be from the Arimidex, as joint pain is one of the side effects. Does it get better once you get moving? I have stiff fingers and what I call "Fred Flintstone" feet (or what I imagine they would feel like) first thing in the morning. Once I get up and get moving, I'm fine. For the record, what I call FF Feet, my feet feel huge and flat for my morning trip to the bathroom. But they are back to normal heading back to bed for my morning coffee.
I had thyroid cancer several years ago (officially cured five years ago) and have been on synthroid forever. I say this because it plays havoc on my bones. I take vitamin D and calcium. I was taking Actinel for osteopenia with good results until my endo took me off (Actinel increases your risk of femur fracture). But recent bone scan shows bone loss in my lower back. My endo recommended that my oncologist put me back on Actinel. Note, she wouldn't do it...wanted him to be the bad guy. Anyway, I was concerned with bone loss, so happy to be back on Actinel! Good luck!

Georgetown on the square would be great!

Linda, sorry you are having such a hard time.
I can't make it, but if you ladies like Italian food- check out Tony and Luigi's. their website is horrid, but the food is SO GOOOOOOOOD.

Vicki, Candy, I am game for Georgetown. Or the Texan Cafe in Hutto is good...
Linda, I have osteoporosis and osteopenia also. On Vit D, calcium, walking. I am on Tamoxifen, so can't help you with the SE's from Arimidex, but I hear that joint pain is one of them. One of my concerns was further bone loss, to I will take Tam for a couple of yrs and re-evaluate. Sorry you can't make it. Congrats on your DS's graduation!
Cindy, hope you can make it!
Holli, will you be coming?
I finished rads one yr ago on Thursday! whoo-hoo!

Cindy, I have stayed in Van Horn and Ft Stockton. They seem to be okay. Not too many choices of hotels last time I was there. NO rain, NO rain! Actually, for what it's worth, the forecasters are saying lower chances of rain towards the end of the week and week-end, here. Safe travels!

Hey guys sorry i havent checked in in awhile, life swallowed me up!
Turned 40 April 18th. Yay me!
Went for my 3 month follow up on April 23rd, and they found a small lump or tumor. Had to go back for a PET, now waiting as all of this was sent to a cancer review board last Thursday.
Then Saturday morning woke up to a swollen knee. Thought eh must have turned the wrong way or something working on the house or something. .. threw an ace bandage on it and was good to go all day. Woke up Sunday and both my knee and ankle were swollen... sat around all yesterday keeping my leg up hoping swelling would go down to no avail.
Finally made myself go to Dr today and was told its lymphodema and might never go away. Was also told it could be from the tamoxifen. So, called my onco to see what i should do and have yet to hear back from them.
This roller coaster ride im on doesnt seem like its ever going to stop!

I think Georgetown and Hutto would be too far for me. Maybe next time. I will be thinking of y'all!! Take pictures.

Chaos - Happy 40th Birthday! Boo on the new tumor and the lymphodema. Cindy and Jen can offer advice and recommendations on the lymphodema. There has to be a way to make it better! Just know we are thinking of you and hope you can get off the roller coaster soon. I hate cancer! Can you make our get together this time? If not, maybe we do something in Bastrop next time.
Jen - As always, happy to hear from you! Hope things are going well and we get to see you soon.
Cindy - Terri is right in that the weather forecast for this area is for clearing this weekend. Hope you can make it!
It looks like it will be Terri, Vicki, Candy, and possibly Cindy for Sunday. I will check to see if Zelda can head north this time. I'm thinking the Georgetown square would be great! Several eateries to choose from and shopping, even if window shopping, in a very quaint setting. We just park and go.
Next time? Let's think Bastrop. That way, maybe Holli, Linda, Kelsy, and Chaos can join us.

Chaos, good to hear from you and Happy belated birthday! My b-day was in April also-the big 6-0 this yr! I hope you are getting some good news on your test results. It seems like it's one thing after another. I didn't realize LE could show up in your legs also...I sure hope it gets resolved soon and your lump is nothing. Please keep us posted.
Vicki, what place (s) do you have in mind on the square? There is a place called Eats on 8th that is supposed to be good. Maybe a little pricey, I've heard. I haven't tried it. What time will work for everyone? Do you need a ride?

chaos - thinking of you and hoping you will get some good news - you need it. And happy belated b-day to you and Cindy. Cindy - be safe on your travels home. Hope to see you soon. Looking forward to the meetup even if it will be a small group. i am totally open as to time and place. How about noon? We could meet at Eats and if we don't like the menu options we can go someplace else. Candy

Candy, let's try for 11:30-11:45 if that's okay. I'm thinking there will be an after church crowd.
Vicki, are you good with that? Cindy, I hope you can make it!!!

Great, see you then!

Hello ladies, I am brand new to this board. I see that you all are meeting @ Eat's in Georgetown on Sunday the 17th about 11:30. I am just down the road from Georgetown, in Round Rock. Do you mind if I join you?
I am just starting out on this road, have had 3 surgeries, and still waiting to hear if clean margins on the last. It would be very inspiring to see and meet some of you who are further along this journey and who have survived. For me it seems to be taking forever to get a treatment plan.
Thanks!
