RIP Robin Williams, RIP

Such a loss...so sad! I've always been a huge fan of Robin Williams.
One movie of his I'd like to see is Patch Adams. The doc he plays sounds like a real dynamo with some really groundbreaking ideas about medical care.

Hi Ann..congrats on the good chemo news and on the ice cream!!!! I know Midland....I grew up in Saginaw, my orthodontist was in Midland, my husband did a college internship at Dow. You get the picture Not sure where you are getting treatment, but the hospital in Midland has a very strong and good reputation. So happy for you girlfiend!!

Yes, it was a somber day yesterday. Because he was local, so many people shared personal experiences online about Robin Williams. It was a tremendous loss. RIP.
Ann - I know you will rock your speech today. I can't imagine anyone better to speak from the heart. A belated Happy Birthday to you!
I had my preop yesterday with my PS. I was a little worried about the jagged cut on my hand, but it's healing pretty well since I've kept it dry, which is a pain in the butt. Next Mondays surgery will be 2-3 hrs and I'll be off a week and can exercise in 2 weeks. I asked about compression garments and he said no. Crazy how different our doctors are. I'm nervous but looking forward to getting it over with, and it will be nice to get a break from work. The only vacations I've had this year are my surgeries, but I'm starting to embrace the idea. LOL
Eve - We'll all be with
you tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be too stressful. You may not know much even after the US, but let us know anyway because we love you.
Jeez I'm late...love and hugs to all!

Oh yes, forgot to say Happy Belated Birthday Ann! I had mine a week after surgery and DH and I went out for dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant. Halfway through I couldn't wait to get back to peace and quiet. No margaritas for me, just lots of painkillers.
Diane, wow you're getting off easy with no compression garments. You should have seen the getup I woke up in after surgery. I had a full length girdle with chunks of foam padding inside and that was all wrapped in padding. This stayed on for a few days, then I switched to Spanx, which was a nightmare. Trying to shop for one while in pain, and having to wrestle them on and off over the huge bruises on my thighs. I have an overactive bladder which usually acts up even more after surgery I finally got wise and cut a hole in the crotch to save me some pain. In my post op I was told the ones I was wearing weren't long enough! They have to go up almost to my breasts and just above the knees. So back to shopping again. I finally found some that work, but wow, what a hassle!!
I'm sure you'll do fine. I'm kind of glad I had the FG done during the exchange. Hope it takes! I've decided no more surgery for me if I can help it. So for the final touch it's either nothing at all or naps for me (tattoo nipples).

Good luck tomorrow Michelle. I'll be holding your hand.
Mary, hopefully it's not too hot there. I can't imagine wearing all that here. I'd be sweating like a pig, yuk.
I am ok Diane, a bit peeved that the imaging place called me yesterday to set up the appointment, sheesh I've had an appointment for a week at least. Then I received a letter from a medical group...stating that my account was seriously delinquent...WTF! So I caleed...it was MO's office that never even tried to charge me nor have I received a bill from them. Peeved also that the charge is for $400. $400 bucks for a 10 minute conversation. Sheesh again. They are "looking into it"....should be interesting.
My friend will be in the room with me during the US. She has my back always and is not afraid to ask questions. yay for friends.
love you guys,
Eve

Thinking of you today, Michelle. Wishing you a quick and easy recovery. Eve, I am in your pocket today for that US.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes. It really has been quite a week. My little speech last night for the ACS Make Strides Against Breast Cancer kickoff went really well. It was pretty humbling when I was introduced and my name was on a big screen as a cancer survivor. It made this entire journey seem more real to me and not like I have been living in a dream and watching this happen to myself from afar. If that makes sense?
I had several women come up to me thanking me for sharing my story and reaffirmed my initial reaction when I was diagnosed. I wanted to find a way to help other women through education and advocacy so I could find some good to come from this nasty disease. I had been looking for ways to give back in my community even before the diagnosis....perhaps I have found a path. Thanks for all your support...you girls were with me and gave me strength.

Marissa, you caught the city from my ice cream? You are right! My BS and PS are in Saginaw and I have been very pleased with them so far. My MO is In Midland and is very well respected. I am amazed at how far some women travel to see him for their chemo. On my treatment day I am usually the only one that is local. People travel from all over the state to see him. I will be closer to your area soon. We drop our daughter off to MSU next weekend! Good luck with your last fill. I have been filled to 525 since May and that feeling of being huge diminishes over time. I was huge with my natural breasts. I am actually enjoying feeling small, lol!

Michelle - I can imagine bow cute you look in your fancy gown. We'll all be with you. I know you will do great.
Eve - So glad you have your friend going with you. It makes such a difference. I would be peeved too. After months of fighting with my insurance company about meeting my yearly limit for copays, the surgery center was told that I owe a $750 copay. Of course when they called again at my insistence they got someone else and were told I didn't owe anything. We just have to keep on them, but it's frustrating for sure.
Wow Mary, that sounds so uncomfortable. Hopefully you will get a great result. My PS usually does FG at exchange but decided to wait because of a flat spot where I had a hematoma on the BC side. I'm really hoping this is it for me in terms of surgery, but am not complaining as I know I've had it pretty easy compared to many of you.
Ann- I knew you would be great. I'm so happy for you. Finding a way to give back is important and I'm sure we can all relate when it comes to that surreal feeling. I know you will make a difference to so many women...just as you have for all of us.
Working a few hours this am the spending hours with my son at 6th grade registration and orientation, followed by power shopping for school supplies and back to school clothes before class. Three more classes before I'm out again, so really enjoying them.
Love to all.
Diane

Hi all,
Well, I am home from the Ultra Sound.....and drum roll....everything is OK..yay! No cancer, no cysts, just some scar tissue. NO worries. I can't tell you how relieved I am.
The tech, Susan, was the same tech that did my first scan back on October 28th of last year. She remembered me and told me that at that first scan she knew it was cancer, but of course she couldn't tell me. Today however, she told me right away and had the Dr. check the images before I left...so I was able to get the "All clear" immediately, what a blessing to not have to wait. I am cancer free for REAL! Woot woot! SWEET! For the first time I feel as if I can move on.
Thanks for supporting me, I really have the utmost respect and love for you all.
be well,
Eve

Eve,
I am so happy for you!! The appointments build up so much nervous energy! I'm glad you got good news!!!

Yay Eve!! Best news EVER! I'm a closet worrier about other people, so am relieved now.
Michelle: I hope you are floating on some good meds in your fancy gown and that all is okay for you too.
Just finally sat down...Crammed WAY too much into today, but I think we're ready for school a week from Monday. X-austed.

Michelle- hope everything went well and you are having an easy recovery
Hope everyone has a great Fri. And an even better weekend. I am waiting for my DD#3 to pick me up for the kids "meet & Greet" with their new teachers. Kayden is especially excited- first time in Kgt and in same school as big sister.

WOOHOO!!!!!!
That news makes my heart happy!!.
I'm SLEEPY!!! After my daughter' s softball game last night I told people I had to come here so I can rest. :-) Dr just came. Said everything went great and looked fine so she doesn't expect anything on the pathology. I feel Ok, a little crampy (did NOT miss that feeling) and very groggy. Otherwise just resting. :-)

Fantastic news Michelle. Rest well!

yay! Michelle ,Enjoy the groggy! Thanks all for the hoorays! We are going to celebrate this weekend with a nice super expensive filet mignon for me and a rib eye for Nate. yum.
Really strange weather this morning...Thunder and lighting rolling through very early this morning....woke me up. It rarely rains in the morning here during the summer. At least it is cool (relatively speaking) outside. Funny my dog is still asleep all cuddled up in my bed. Lazy mutt.
Like Diane's, David our Daniel starts 6th grade on Monday. He and Nate went to meet the teachers yesterday. They found out that Daniel inadvertently signed up for chorus...lol, oh the horrors. Poor kid, he just isn't the "on stage" type. He'll have to suffer through two weeks of singing and then will be able to move to band (fingers crossed).
have a fab weekend all
hugs, Eve
hey Laurie, if you aren't too busy golfing, let us know how you are doing!

Wonderful news, Michelle!
Eve, that sounds like a great way to celebrate. Enjoy!
I woke up this morning with what feels like a pulled muscle in my back near my shoulder. It hurts like heck, but mostly I'm just disappointed because today I was supposed to drive in to see mom for the first time since my surgery. Feeling guilty and helpless.... On the bright side it looks like another beautiful sunny day. Summer is almost over so need to enjoy every single moment.
I finally have an appt. scheduled with an MO on Sept. 3rd. I have only seen an MO once and that was just before my BMX. Since then I've been seeing a NP who is very nice, but I'd like to see a DOCTOR, thank you very much!
The foobs are taking shape although I'm not supposed to be "looking" at them. Next Tuesday is the deadline for casting off all these compression garments. Can't wait!!
Have a great weekend everyone!

So glad everything went well, Michelle. Rest easy this weekend.
Mary, looking forward to reading about the great unveil:-)
0 -
Ann - it won't be a big unveil so much as just getting to wear normal bras and underwear. My next follow up with my PS team isn't until Nov. 5th. They said to wait 3 to 6 months to really judge the outcome of the exchange. The new girls have improved a lot since the surgery, so hopefully it just keeps getting better.

Well nurse left a bit ago and just got off phone with ps. Apparently my baso results from blood work were high and red blood cells low, but she's not concerned.... Should I be? My blood pressure usually runs about 130/90 when nurse took it today it was 106/60!!!! No wonder y I get dizzy when I'm up too long... But ps isn't concerned..,
0 -
Beverly, as LNG as your red blood count stays above 8 I wouldn't be concerned. You might be more tired than usual though and that would be normal. I am not familiar with baso counts. My white counts are always low from the chemo and I am fine. Also, your bp of 106/60. Mine is generally in that range. I wouldn't add that to your sorry card. You have enough other thinks to think about. Take care
0 -
Beverly - I don't know about the blood counts, but my BP is always low and in the same range. Ask your doctor about your diet. I make sure I get enough salt. Maybe there is something you can add to your diet that will help, but I agree with Ann, worry won't help.
