Starting chemo August 2014

Hello everyone, I haven't posted in a very long time but keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. Ladyb, thank you again for putting this thread together. It was a lifeline during treatment.
Sending love and hugs to Brenda and Robyn and others who have had a recurrence or are still in active treatment. May you all be NED.
Congrats to strongenough on the house!
June 10 was the third anniversary of my diagnosis. Had a clear mammogram a few weeks ago. I've been on Anastrozole for two years (of five planned) and have had a significant amount of bone density loss since I started. I now have osteoporosis and am trying to decide between Fosmax or Prolia. More like agonizing over the decision and the possibility of the side effects of each. Also dealing with osteoarthritis of hips and knees. I'll retire at the end of the year. The traveling, and lifting of heavy sample cases I do in my job as a sales rep have gotten to be too much. Looking forward to having some time to just be for a while and focus on taking care of my health and home. Oh, and time to have some fun!
Always grateful for getting through treatment well - you all made it much easier with lots of caring, and laughter along the way!
Love, Sandy

Hi everyone,
Nice to hear that we're all plugging along. I was thinking of Purplegurrl because I just heard about a program we have here in GA that she might be interested in. So, Purplegurrl, if you read this, please pm me so I can let you know about it.
Happy summer, all.

Hello ladies! I wanted to drop in and give you all an update. I think of you often and love to hear from you. Please private message me at any time if I can be of help! It's been awhile since I posted so I'll do a fast forward of the past year. The clinical trial I was participating in ended up not being good for me. I developed pneumonitis from one of the meds and needed home oxygen, and the steroids caused me to get serious diabetes. The cancer spread to my liver and bone marrow. So no more trial. I started on halaven (eribulin) with my doctor in Atlanta and things seem to be stabilized. I have chemo two weeks in a row and then a week off. I get shots to boost my white blood counts. Ive progressed from being in a home hospital bed to using a walker to a cane and now I don't need that. So I feel pretty good! On the personal side, we are in process of selling our house and will decide where we want to go - I vote beach! My husband has recovered extremely well from a very bad motorcycle accident last year. We went on a once in a lifetime trip to Hawaii courtesy of the KarenWellington Foundation. If you don't know about this organization, I encourage you to read up on them. KWF does a fabulous job. My kids are all great, good young adults who live close by. I wish you all the best! Big hugs to all!

Hi all!
Well, what a couple of years it has been.
Sad to hear of the losses and setbacks, happy to learn about the good things going on. I guess that the world keeps turning no matter what. I am just trying to hold on.
Today I saw my onco and GP, all is stable as far as we know. Did blood tests and found I went thru menopause! WTH. Had no idea....all that wonderful chemo and chit masked the symptoms. On new rx for depression, and working hard on getting in shape. It has not been easy, but the menopause at least explains the weight gain in part. I exercise every day and it is slow progress.
My job was part time, but they offered me full time with loads of benies AND INSURANCE so I said hell to the yes. We continue digging our way out of the cancer hole.
Still blogging and working on that book, and a few more besides.Headed to Maine in September, doing lots of decorating this year, workin on that snowbird plan.
Love you all!

Wondering if anyone still here from our group of August 2014?
3years now on Herceptin and Perjeta. This is scan month so....you know ,a little anxious
I'm in New Orleans to help my cousin move. Sure not much help but good moral support.
As soon as I get home Sunday, wash clothes and back on a plane to Nashville for 3 days business meeting for my hubby, then to Virginia to see son and DIL.
I will be so exhausted I don't know how I will make it.
Hope we have some from our thread still watching for posts.Would love to hear.
Living the metastatic life....
Love to all,

hey Brenda! Hey bippy! Still here. Four days left of my palbociclib trial. Can't believe it's two years since treatment ended. Want to see how I feel without this Med. Not too bad, some are asking to stay on to hope it helps against recurrence, but it's a total crap shoot. Isn't all of this though? I'mVery busy, very tired, kids doing great.
Thinking of our gang brought together by crummy circumstances. Hugs to all!

Girls before their last day at science camp.
Chemo babies doing great at 2.5 yrs old.
How are you feeling Beatmon? Full scanxiety I'm sure. Hate those weeks. How are you holding up? Are you on the stage I've boards here? Everyone graciously let me participate in the stage iv palbo boards. If you are ever on that Med in the future, know that generally most feel it's very doable. I've been on the highest dose for two years, and made it even w all these kids. Praying that it does what it's supposed to. Also getting a zometa infusion every six months. Big hug for you!

oh my goodness! They are beautiful. Just what I needed to see tonight.
Thank you so much h for sharing them. How do you do it all? I guess we call it life and do the best we can.
So happy you are doing ok on that med. I won't be on it unless my paths change since I'm her2 only .
Have been trying to help my sweet cousin pack to move. She has a very bad familial back problem so the two of us add up to one person!
Please hug all the littles for me.

Hi Ladies, I check in every so often to see if anyone has been posting. Three years since we began our journey together. Purplegirl, glad to hear you are able to get around without a cane now. Beatmon, you remind me of a good friend who never sits still. Always visiting and traveling around helping her friends. Gatamol, those little ones are just beautiful. So thankful I was around while you went thru that journey of having twins while going thru treatment. Crazy! Life has been good to me. I start Zometa in October. The MO has been talking it up but I just wasn't ready. I've been on Arimidex for a little while now. Just had a bone density test which came back normal. Even so will have to ask MO if any change. DH has been doing great after heart and back surgery. We actually got on a plane and visited my daughter in Charlotte, NC. She will be married one year this month. My son is coming home to visit from China in two weeks. Going to meet his GF for first time in person. Wishing you all good days ahead. Thinking about you all often.

Popping in to check on you all and say hello! Things are still looking good on the cancer-front for me - yay! Dealing with some fibroid issues and looking at a hysterectomy relatively soon - boo! But I'll take that over cancer any day. My daughter's a senior now and deep in the college application process. She's even auditioning to continue on with ballet in college. She gets to dance Clara this year in the Nutcracker.
Think of this group still from time to time - you were a lifeline for me. xoxo

Hi Ladies, I pray all is well with each of you. I just wanted to let you all know that Purplegurll, Robyn, has received her angel wings. Robyn and I stayed in touch via FB and messenger. Her husband posted The news this morning.
In early October, she reached out to ask for prayer as she was diagnosed with leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, a metastasis of my breast cancer to the leptomeningeal tissues surrounding the brain and spine.
She always asked about the group, and spoke highly of the support, encouragement, how much the ladies here meant to her and always sent her thoughts and prayers. Please continue to pray for her family at this time. She was always upbeat and positive.
I am heart broken and will miss Robyn! Rest In Heaven dear friend💕🙏🏽
Love across the miles,
Angie
PS, if you ever want to give a donation in her memory she always spoke highly of the KarenWellington Foundation

Hi Angie,
Thanks for letting us know. I was shocked to read your note this morning. I spoke to Robyn earlier this summer, encouraging her to attend the Casting for Recovery retreat for Stage 4 ladies. She sounded very good and upbeat. This is very sad news.
I hope you and all others from the group are doing well. I try to make the most of each day.
Best wishes.

Some how I missed the posts in November which is weird because I rarely skip a read at bedtime. So I’m just now finding out that Robyn has passed away. I am so very sorry that she had that leptomeningeal Cancer.
I was wondering how many of us are still hanging around. It is certainly not an active thread.
I wanted to wish all a restful, painfree Christmas, it is hard knowing that we lost Robyn.
Peace to all, beatmon

Hello August group, Hope everyone had a joyous Holiday and a Very Happy and Healthy New Years. So far 2018 started off for us with a hick up but hoping the rest will be better. My SIL ended up in hospital with an arterial tear near her heart. She is home now and recovering slowly. My DH and I came home from weekend away to find a pipe burst in kitchen from freezing weather. Adjuster coming here tmrw. Hey, but we are healthy and looking forward to a good year ahead. Got to spend time with daughter and husband. Nephew and wife were here visiting from Brazil. Which made the end of 2017 all the more special. Wishing everyone a wonderful 2018.

happy New Year ladies. So sad to hear about purplgirl. Our little tribe helped me so much in dark hours and days. Our chemo babies just turned 3 a few days ago, and are doing fine. Our doggie, Oliver, has been having seizures, however, and he’s on the downslope. He’s an old guy for a French bulldog, 12.5, and i get to share my gabapentin with him to stop his seizures. Such a cost savings! Hope you are all doing great and have a wonderful 2018. We are all getting closer to 5 years then we were when we met.
