Got my blood count done today and everything was good except my hemoglobin was a little low...told me to be careful not to cut myself. I did lose 7 lbs though and they are somewhat concerned. I've been eating...I don't know how it happened but they said to be careful. Good thoughts and prayers to all of you who are getting a treatment today.

Everyone looks great with their hats. I love the gladiator hat. Really made me laugh. Next chemo #2 I will do miralax the day before and then after.  Also,Aleve and Claritin. Another tip is warm a glass of prune juice at night.  I personally love the taste. My new wine at night.  Thanks for the biotene tip. Will buy tonight.  I am really nervous about next chemo. The first one caught me totally off guard. I worked the entire time and thought  I was going to die.  I am hospice triage nurse and I kept scanning peoples charts with breast cancer to try and figure out how that got on Hospice. No good for my brain !!

I'm sorry about not posting, not my favorite.  I'd rather read the posts for tips.  I had my port insertion and my 1st round of A/C on Tuesday.  All in all...not that bad but it is my first round.  Picked up my wig today so I'm ready when the hair starts to fall out.  If I just take the meds as ordered and I should be fine.  Still have a tiny bit of nausea and much lack of energy but hoping to turn the corner this weekend.  Maybe I can get out for a little walk with the dog.  Hope everyone else is holding up ok.

just finished #3. Doing fine so far! Liver enzymes a bit elevated for the second time but not of concern at this point. No need to adjust the dosage unless they keep going up.

Loving the headgear pix! And glad to hear tx going well for you ladies.

More later. On phone in car and it makes me feel drunk to type this way. No I am not driving LOL

I felt so much better after 2 weeks I haven't been on the site. I am way behind on reading everyone else's posts.

I had my second round yesterday and it went well, it helps knowing What to expect so I could treat my symptoms faster.

I already had the thrush medicine so I got to treat myself as soon as it started. I took the claritin and Aleve before the shot and the  whole family was prepared for the  fact that I dont want anyone to talk to me until somewhere around next Tuesday.

My hair started falling out a week ago and I am amazed I still have any left. It's just to the pointing looking really bad today.

had an awesome day today.  Head is extremely tender. Shaving it on Sunday.

My work had a Hat day today to help me feel more comfortable as I lose my hair.  6 people also had me shave their heads today in support of me.  I was in tears. It sure made for a great day during a rough time.

I need to order some hats. I do have a wig but will only wear that probably at work.  I need something soft and comfortable at home.

I have 2nd infusion on Thursday. Gonna enjoy this weekend to the fullest.

    Love the pic Ladies.

Cut1pie welcome to this wonderful thread!  We are here to support you, share our experiences, share info from our Medical teams, share information we may find helpful for the group, share our SEs and what helps get us through.  We are here to encourage you, you can vent, whine, share your innermost fears, worries, etc.  W are here for each other and  to share the good times or progress, to have fun and laugh.  Welcome!

Terri & Strongenough got a great laugh from the hats.  Terry your husband made the hat how cute!

Tabby my first thought - she is not driving right.  LOL!

Random chance & CJ thanks for checking in and so glad to hear from you.

All Thanks for the suggestions and input on the nether region.  I will try baby powder tonight and go buy some A&D ointment tomorrow.

I am really tired today due to lack of sleep and will definitely rest during this 3 day weekend.  I hope I still have an appetite and can enjoy some barbecue and sides this weekend.  MO warned  me minimal to no weight lost.  Watch the big 'D' and dehydration.   I am trying to eat small meaks 2 hours apart and also hope the tummy and mouth  SE don't hit to hard this time but I do have a plan of caution to stay ahead of the game this time And hide it works.  Positive thoughts!

BTW, please let me know if I have omitted you from our list or accidentally deleted you due to chemo brain or just plan lack of sleep.

Enjoy, rest, stay ahead of SEs, and drink, drink, walk and walk if you can.

Hugs to All and will be thinking of all the August Warriors this weekend!

I've been seeing a lot on FB about nipple tattoos. Becoming a big rage.

I had a lumpectomy with positive lymph node, so I will be doing radiation.

Treatment went well today, feeling good so far. It was the 3rd day last time and shortly after shot that SEs kicked in. I'm prepared with Claritin and Aleve this time and nausea pills. My gums are still sensitive from first treatment, so will be a chronic problem throughout I'm sure. The sensitive toothpaste and biotene help a lot.

Hope everyone is doing well tonight.

good morning all!  Went to the doctor yesterday.  They wanted to check why my voice keeps going in and out, kind of crackly.  They think it could be I'm getting some sores in throat due to the red devil.  So far though no throat pain.  So I am to gargle several times a day with warm water and some salt and baking soda.  My white blood count is way up due to nuelasta so that's great.  I have another appt scheduled for Tuesday but if I wake up and feel good I can cancel it. They also asked if I was drinking a minimum of 64 oz of water or other decaf liquid, which maybe I'm not.  That will help with the dizziness and asked if I'm eating enough. I'm off the Dexamethasone which is suppose to give you energy and make you hungry.  It never made me hungry. What are your favorite things you are eating?

Last night I couldn't sleep to save my life!are you taking Benadryl to sleep? I normally would taken melatonin but don't know if that will be strong enough to help. Hope I manage to stay awake today.

I love your hat photos!  I asked when my hair will come out and they said 14-17 days? So I'm thinking 11th day I may make appt to have it shaved and I should feel ok then too since no chemo for that long. Any thoughts?

We are going to friends for a cookout tonight which will be fun. I feel pretty good really, my stomach just feels kind of not normal, maybe still a little constipated. Have a great weekend!

I'm new here and hoping to join in an online community that understands.  I'm 43 years old, married and have a 14-year-old daughter who just started high school this week.

I was diagnosed on the 19th of this month and started chemo last Thursday (the 28th).  I have two lesions in my left breast and one lymph node affected.  I feel like we've caught it early and I have high hopes for a full recovery.  I believe the phrase is triple positive?  ER/PR/HER2 are all positive.  I'm receiving carboplatin, taxotere, herceptin and perjeta - 6 rounds total, once every three weeks.  After that will be surgery and then likely some radiation.  I'm having genetic testing done as well.

It's all been a huge shock and a whirlwind of tests and appointment, but I feel like I'm on the right track and ready to get through all of this!

Welcome CassieCat.  You've come to the right place for support and feel free to ask any questions or vent if needed.

I noticed after round 1 and again after round 2 that my TE feel hard as rocks, swollen and painful.  Has anyone else experienced this? So far I'm feeling pretty good but no appetite for two days and I'm finding it hard to keep drinking water or any fluids. Today is day 3 post chemo so I know it's just a matter of time before the fatigue hits.

Hoping everyone is dealing with minimal SE and is able to enjoy Labor Day Weekend.

    Hugs to all!

    Cathy

Welcome Cassie! When I first found out my DX, I felt the same way as you. Its like information overload. Everything goes so fast. Once all the preliminaries are done though it slowed down for me and its just my once a week appts. I'm 42 with 2 teenagers (18 and 12). My 12 year old boy is a little shell shocked by all of it. He doesn't want to think of his mom's breasts in any context. How is your daughter? The ladies here are great and have a ton of info. If you are going through it, there is probably someone here that has words of wisdom to help. Talk to ya soon. Amy

My mouth is so sore today. I'm 9 days out from chemo so it surprises me a little...I have dentures (that makes me sound so old...I've had them since I was 32) and I don't know if I can put them in. I was going to go on a mom/son date with my 12 year old tonight. I'll just have to see. Ugggghhhh....

hi all, day 2 after second chemo and good thing i have tha nauseau meds!  I can feel it wanting to start but it can't. Weirdly, i have an appetite today, from the steroids i guess.  My rash i had last time also wants to return but the psoriasis gel is working so far.

Drinking copious fluids, eating small meals, resting. This morning i consigned tons of work clothing at a local shop, easier than ebay. I get my neulasta shot in the morning, and will do the claritin and tylenol routine. Thank gawd i do not have to work!  Monday will suck and at least i can lay around as needed.

Hope you all have a nice SE free labor day!

Just got back from getting my first mastectomy bra and prosthetics.  I never thought I would miss my breasts, but, wow, it sure feels nice to wear a bra again and have a set of breasts.  It certainly has lifted my spirits and now I can't wait to go back to work to show them off!!!!   The next rollercoaster I am getting on is the hair ---  should be starting to fall out late this week, so I picked out a wig while I was there, have my appointment set to shave my head and feel better already about this whole nightmare.  Then I have my second chemo treatment on 9/11 and start all over again, but this time with a more positive attitude!!

    More fun with hats...

    image

I ordered 3 more Buffs and a couple of other hats from tlcdirect.com. I think the Logan hat and Cozy Cap are a little big on me, and tlcdirect has sizes, so maybe they will fit better. Going to try on wigs this afternoon.

I'm enjoying a long weekend of feeling good! I think we are taking the kayaks out tomorrow or Monday, then gearing up for #2 on Wednesday. We were planning to go to Salt Lake City to see The Eagles with my hubby's brother & his wife this weekend, but f@€king cancer and hubby's lay-off made that impossible. I'm very angry about that, but am trying to move on & have a pleasant weekend. Hubby promised me he will take me to The Eagles some other time, anywhere they are playing when this is over with. Hope we don't have to wait until hell freezes over again!

Hope everyone has a relaxing long weekend with minimal SE!

Hi Ladies, had my infusion last night, so this is considered day 2, right? Anyway just got back from getting my neulasta shot. Took Claritin and Aleve. Now praying for minimal SEs. I still have a good appetite and actually cooked a few things this afternoon. So far feeling good.

Strong enough - I like your hat collection. Headcovers has a 30 percent off labor day wknd sale, so bought 2 more beenie's. Scarves are too much work, ha...

Nomatterwhat - so glad you are feeling good and in good spirits.

Bipsy - sounds like you are working to keep those SEs at a minimum. That's all we can do.

Cassie - welcome to the group.

Hope everyone is having a good evening and keeping a positive attitude. We are kicking cancers ass!

Sorry I went MIA. I had a fever and got admitted because I was neutropenic. I had 500 wbc, I am now back to normal and ready for round 2. Hair stared coming out on Wednesday so I went really short but I am thinking about just shaving it because hairs keep falling in my face and it's getting annoying. Hope everyone is doing well on their first and second rounds. My 4 year old and I made a sort of advent calendar chain for chemo. Every week we rip off another loop, it gives us something to look forward to and it's nice to see the chain get shorter. I am ready for 2 of 6 on Thursday, a third of the way there!

    oh purrrrana99,

How are you feeling ? What were your symptoms? Just fever ? I've been tracking mine today, day 9 after, and it's around 99.5, but not sure if it's higher because of pregnancy or what . Did you feel sick? What did they give you in the hospital? Fluids, IV antibiotics? So scary for you to been admitted . Glad you're out again with your daughter . Feel better !

Fever was my only  symptom. I went to work for a few hours and just felt exhausted. I came home and felt off, I took my temp and it was 100.5 and I felt really cold and had chills. I called my MO office and they said go to the ER. This was day 7 and I had Neulasta on day 2. I was on round the clock IV antibiotics and some fluids but I was eating and drinking so there was no worry there. I feel good and I even felt good in the hospital I just had to wait until the Neulasta kicked in. I feel completely normal now and for the next round they will watch me and if it happens again I will be put on antibiotics for every round for 10 days.

glad they know what to watch for purrrana!

Anyone else find they can't stay hydrated enough?  I'm going to try drinking G2 today.  I think this is why I feel so lazy and dizzy now and then.  What else are you drinking? Water doesn't seem to be enough for me.

did you use miralax twice the day before treatment?  I was told to do this next time as I was "locked" up for many days.  The big C is no fun!

Warm prune juice at night and miralax in the am. Does the trick!!! I also stewed fruit and put in bowl with vanilla ice cream.  Light heating pad on my stomach seemed to help with that gross bloated feeling. For hydration try popsicles or jello if you can stomach that.

Thank you for the welcomes.  I'm still trying to figure my way around here!

Yesterday was day 3 for me after my first infusion, and the steroids are definitely leaving my system.  I felt down, weepy and achy all day.  I had the Neulasta shot Friday afternoon and started with some Tylenol yesterday and a Claritin last night.  I got over 8 hours of sleep last night and feel a little better this morning.  Also dealing with some irregularity that I need to get sorted out.  Not too fun!

I ate 3 prunes this am, will buy some prune juice.  Oh, I have apple juice to try too, may try that first.
