Beautiful orchids Lisa. Nancy, yes the eerie shots were at sunrise. We went out at 6:30 am on a private sunrise swamp cruise. I was looking to shoot bird photos and the eerie shots were a bonus.
As for monitors, I have a 27 inch monitor from Sams Club which I hook up to my laptop. I use this monitor for all my photo editing including when I'm working in Photoshop or Adobe Lightroom. FYI, I got a subscription to the Adobe Creative Cloud so that I can keep getting all of the updated software for free. Amazon had a deal on the one year subscription and I guess I pay monthly thereafter. I also use Sams Club for my printed photos as well as ones on Canvas and other printed mediums.
B & H is good. I bought my Speedlite flash from them. My newest lens the one I used for the Bird photos is a certified refurbished lens from Amazon. I got it for half price that way.
Never got my nature preserve photos yesterday. We had a flat on the rental Explorer and are now stuck waiting for a new tire before we can go home. Should have left the telescopes home and brought our own car.
Nancy hope your mom is OK and everything goes well for you. I'm getting another lumbar epidural on 12/22. Will have to repeat twice a year until I decide to go through with the recommended disk replacement surgery. Not any year soon.
Happy Photographing Ladies

Lisa I LOVE orchids too!! Have never seen that neon pink one. I keep a black cloth in my camera bag to put behind flowers in a greenhouse to blank out busy backgrounds.

Scottie, a real bummer with your flat tire. My mom's situation with her hip is not good. My sister is going to have to deal with it as I am back home tonight. I live three hours away from my mom and my sister lives in the same town. I will return for three weeks at Christmas time but she needs to see the doctor soon.
Good luck with your epidural. My Dad was able to hold off on any back surgery with injections. He died several years ago of cancer but I think the injections really helped him with the back pain.
I have had a very serious neck surgery several years ago and I would have held off but was told I would be completely paralyzed if I didn't have the surgery in 3-6 months and I had several different doctors confirm that. My spinal fluid was completely dammed up and my limbs were not getting any spinal fluid at all. My body has never been the same since that surgery so I would hold off as long as you can.

I've had epidurala on my spine and in my neck. When I went back for a second neck one they really believed how much pain I was in because they said people very rarely will allow a second one to their neck.

This will be my fourth epidural. I slipped and fell nearly 20 years ago and fractured my tail bone. The L5\S1 disk deteriorated over time and I finally went to the ortho surgeon three years ago. My BC diagnosis two years ago put a hold on my back treatments except for the epidurals. The last thing I want is more surgery.
Praying for tons of rain to douse the mountain fires. We're supposed to go up to North Georgia Mts. for another photo jaunt next weekend.

Scottie, I hope your epidural works and you can ward off any surgery. I am seeing about all the fires in TN. Hopefully you can still go on your trip.
Here are a few pics from my falls pics from our Arboretum from a few weeks ago.

I love creativity. I think it would be amazing to make a living doing something creative. I started making pottery when I was 9. I would go over to a ceramic store during the day while my Mom worked. I loved doing that. As I got older I tried many different things. I really love scrapbooking. For me each page is an art project but it's so time consuming that I never have time to complete it. And I love baking. Is that creative? Probably if you are the cake boss but I am not. I just enjoy making cookies and cupcakes mostly. But my biggest hobby is photography. I would love to show people the beauty of the world around them. The ever day life that we often times ignore in our rush of the daily grind. I would love to make one person smile or one person stop and enjoy the day a little more. Here are a few of my pictures.
This is a picture of life's journey...the young and the old walking down the path hand in hand with the civil war fence lining the path. For me that's the past lining the way of the future. I really love this one.
This is the sun setting on summer. This was taken the last day before school started. It was the end of the warm summer lazy days.
This is looking through the eyes of war. I was lucky enough to go to Gettysburg. When you look down the barrel of the cannon you can imagine what those soldiers felt in that moment. You can see the field where so many people lay dead. You can imagine the troops marching through all this towards that cannon. The fear, the depth of the emotions those brave men experienced while looking down the barrel of a cannon.
The waves of American freedom. To see the ripples as the flag waves high above. The names of the battles are written on the stripes . Each one of those battles made that flag possible to fly. All of the people who fought in those battles are represented in the red and white strips of our history. This flag is simple yet still so meaningful and so powerful to our people. The flag represents what is important to all of us and what we are willing to fight for.

We used to get those little guys and have them in tanks. They'd only be about an inch or two and didn't live too long, poor little guys....

Love the turtle Lisa. Barbe I remember years ago when they would sell those tiny little turtles at the fair and they would paint their little shells which I am sure is not good for them. I doubt if they do that anymore.
I visited a habitat and rehab for injured wildlife today for the first time. I can finally say I got some shots of owls and a bald eagle. Maybe not the way I had wanted but hey it was great to see them up close. I haven't been to a zoo in years so this was the next thing close to that I imagine. Here are some pics from the day. They had a hay ride along the trails as well.
This hawk has the sweetest face.
I have no idea what that pink thing is.
This is a Bobcat. It acted just like my cat. Yawned, washed itself and ignored me!!!

My favorite photo of DS was actually taken of the sharp shinned hawk he was banding.
