The wild gymsom flower

Jazzy, Interesting! How large is the plant?
0 -
Hi, well I did the wrong spelling, it is the jimsomweed and the plant is actually pretty large, like a shrub size and it blooms in the wild here in the late summer. I was told when I moved here, that some people like to "roll it and smoke it" but it is very poisonous and thus, people don't usually plant them in their garden either.
The flowers open during the day and close at night, that one happened to still be open at dusk. I will try to take a picture of the bush on my walk tonight. It is also referred to datura.
What I learned reading this link below today is that it is in the tomato family!

Interesting reading. I remember a book about Don Juan which featured hallucinogenic substances and some kind of vision of the world. Written in the 60's or early 70's, I believe.

The weeds are out of control at my house! They seem to thrive in times when I can barely keep the plants I like alive.

Got stung by a wasp on the face, in my garden yesterday. Definitely didn't feel good, but I guess it comes with the territory.

Ouch! I hate wasps. Bees are good guys but wasps can really do damage.

GMA- ouch, I hate wasps and hate hornets even more. Feel better.

Jazzy, such gorgeous flowers all over Santa Fe. I think I would love it there.
It is definitely the season where the stingers get more aggressive. You have to really be careful.
Teka my grandma used to cook green beans to death with butter or bacon and that is still my favorite way. I have a craving!

Morning glories make me think of my mom. She had a trellis of them outside her kitchen window ❤️
Saw the pretty bloom on my morning walk today

My grandmother and I would plant heavenly blue morning glories every summer because they were the color of my Mommy's eyes. It was a way to honor her memory.

I love zinnias. They sell them here but they don't do much unless it's a really hot summer. We always had them in Okla.
